#Buddie Wedding Season 10 Everyone's Invited

Okay, my insane theory that I was waiting for the episode to see if I'm right or not. This is a lot more from the business side of things than something actually plot-related. But the thing is, about a year ago, at some point during the s6-7 hiatus, I made a post about how I thought the show had written themselves into a corner when it comes to buddie basically because the stakes are too high (the post is here but please keep in mind I wrote this before Buck bi and thinking about the way fox dealt with them, and we have since found out something was supposed to happen in s4 and they were censored by fox and we are not dealing with that anymore, I will explain my thought process here tho). But basically, I thought that they were not gonna do buddie because the expectations around buddie were too high, and it was easier to play with their tension forever than getting them together.

Because the thing is, we are talking about a six plus seasons queer slowburn that already has a lot in canon, between Chris, the well, the shooting, the lightning, the fact that they are best friend partners, there's a lot at stake and the correct lead up can make it seem as if buddie has been planned when watching the whole show. And since buddie is already insane, buddie in a romantic setting would have to exceed expectations. There's also the way that since Buck and Eddie work together and are partners on the field, they would have to acknowledge buddie every episode they were both in, something that is not true for madney or bathena, so that means that at some level they would have to be okay with the show being known as the buddie show at some level. The way that buddie has the potential to be the first relationship of its kind, a queer multiseason network slowburn, means that there will be people who will watch the show because of buddie. I know I joke about how buddie will make 911 go down in television history, but it is true, buddie will be placed next to big television love stories, people will teach classes on buddie in film school, so they need to be okay with that focus on the relationship existing and potentially being the thing people talk about when thinking about the show. With season 6 knowledge, I thought that at best they would have buddie kiss in the last 10 minutes of the series finale just to say they did it because I did not believe that they would want to be forced to write buddie into every episode and deal with the external focus on them. Now, knowing that fox blocked Buck bi and with the way they didn't even let Oliver and Ryan stand next to each other, I believe fox was never gonna let buddie be what they could be.

We have different rules now. My thing there is the way that they would have to deal with the external focus on them and to acknowledge buddie every episode, right? Well, they set Oliver and Ryan lose last season, including paired, and they let them say all sorts of things, the I love you to the core, buddie wedding season 10, giving the people what they want, there's no competition for Eddie, Buck fills the space Shannon was support to have, every interview Oliver, Ryan or Tim do mentions buddie, so they clearly don't care if people discover the show through buddie, they seem to be leaning into it even. For example, the first video we got for s8 was a ryliver video. So that part is covered, they are fine with it. So that leaves us with the acknowledging buddie every episode. They are doing that. I think everyone knows I'm doing the buddie supercuts by now (if not you can find the ones that are done here), but I wrote a meta about this, something that happened in s7 that was not true in the previous seasons is the fact that buddie has at least one moment every single episode, 1 we had the whole partnership/co-parent thing, 2 we had the thing at the locker room, 3 we had them finishing each other sentences while moving around each other during the rescue, 4 and 5 I don't even need to say it, right, 6 we had the bachelor party, 7 we had the Buckley-Diaz family scene, 9 we had the kitchen scene, and 10 had all that partnership/co-parent thing again. So s7 proved that they don't care about writing buddie into every episode. 801 has a lot of buddie, my cut of the episode amounted to 11 minutes and 33 seconds, that's 27% of the episode, the only episode they have more than that is under pressure, which is saying something. 802 we also had some buddie squeezed in there even though the episode was about the plane. That was an Athena episode, but we still got buddie. So my whole thing with the post I made this morning was about the concept of them adding a buddie scene even though they started the episode physically separated. And Well, I'm gonna count this as my buddie shoutout. They were together on the plane, and we got that little look at the end.

I think, like Tim said in the interviews for s7, that they are trying to work a little buddie every episode because it is a core part of the show, and that is a way to get the audience used to having at least a little buddie every episode. And I think that's the biggest sign that something has shifted and buddie is cooking.

Anyway, yeah, that's the theory. If you read this I love you 🫶.

I have a theory that while many may not agree, I think there’s some truth to it. I think behind the scenes, this season was the make or break if they were going to commit and do buddie. I think that when they asked Lou to come back they still weren’t sure if they were going to commit (which is why he only got a 4 episode arc) or not. I think by the time 7x04 aired they still weren’t sure which is why Tim said as of right now he’s not planning (which isn’t a yes and isn’t a no) and why Oliver’s interviews immediately after 7x04 were still kind of neutral but still entertaining the idea of it. But I think by 7x06 they got their answer and I think Tim and the crew on the show decided to close the book on Buddie and queer Eddie. This can be scene in the sharp turn that post 7x06 interviews went: Kenny saying it’s the buck and Tommy show and bringing up BuckTommy in interviews, JLH saying to move on and talking about BuckTommy when asked about Buddie. It just further nailed in the coffin when Ryan began his hetero campaign in all of the interviews post 7x07. I think Tim has moved on from a romantic buddie plot and that is why he brought back Lou for 7x09 and 7x10 to show the audience that this is where the story is going.

I was really thinking about this after seeing that (supposed) insider going on that hour long rant and seeing how bitter they got as the season went on. It makes sense as to why you would get more bitter as your ships gets shut down behind the scenes. And do you think if queer Eddie still had a chance of happening, they would be spoiling it now? They’re only talking about it because they know it’s not happening. You don’t get bitter like that when you know the thing you love is still going to happen.

I think you're absolutely right because I was also wondering how come they went from a 4 episode arc to 6 episode arc for Tommy, especially since his scene in episode 10 served no purpose to the story just cemented his relationship with Buck.

I agree there was a shift around episode 5.... becaise if Buck and Tommy had been temporary that would have been the perfect opportunity to let Tommy go, after the "failed" first date, but instead they doubled down on Bucktommy and not only did they stay together Buck invited Tommy to his sister's wedding, not just a regular date.

I really think they decided after ep 4 , but still weren't sure by the time episode 4 aired as you mentionned.

I love your theory and I really think you're right because it also checks out with the Lou & Oliver interview that aired before episode 9. Buck and Tommy didn't even have a lot of scenes in that episode so what was the point on having the actors do a couples interview before it aired if not to cement Buck and Tommy as a couple.

And also the cast reactions you mentionned.

I don't hate the ship at all, but I don't see Buddie happening either, there would have been at least a few hints if it were to happen and unti now, all the show has done it point out how Buck and Tommy were serious about eachother.

Buddie Wedding Season 10👀?

The interviewer joked and said "And what I think I heard you say is possibly by season 10, there might be a wedding. I mean you know".

With his gorgeous smile, OS replied, "Between me and Eddie?"

Interviewer: "You just said it not me."

OS: "Headline created!" He laughs then says, "Oliver says."

They both laugh then OS says, "Who knows?

This is one of the cutest interviews and I love seeing OS so happy. He's so excited for what's to come for Buck and Eddie that his cheeks are just as rosy as RG's were during the pre-season interviews.

They're both so happy to finally be able to talk about Buck and Eddie the way they should have been able to do back at the end of season 4 after the shooting.

F*X tried to stop this awesome ship from sailing but TM fought to get the show picked up by ABC and now the entire cast is being celebrated and appreciated.

I can't wait to see what's getting ready to happen with Buck & Eddie and the Buckley-Diaz Family. Their love confessions should have happened years ago but it will happen and with the way things have been going in season 7, it might happen sooner than the audience thinks.

I agree with the autistic Tommy kinard!!! I hate the anti saying how Tommy is just a shitty character and not autistic and it’s ableist to claim he is. Then I’m like ??? Last point is that, they don’t have any media comprehension skills. They both infantilize buck then turn around and claim bucktommys do that to him?? Buck has gone to therapy for so long and is actively working on his abandonment issues and trying not to hold people too tightly etc ei him apologizing for being a jerk to Eddie and Tommy, letting Chris go to Texas with his grandparents. eh I think that Tim has been pretty adamant as has Oliver and Lou even that buck and Tommy is not lasting a long time so I’m of the opinion they mutually break up in 9 or 10 and we will get a feelings realization from Buck in the finale.

I’m not wed to him going either at the end of this season or into next - either works perfectly from a buddie perspective- it all depends on how tim wants to tell the story - either way - like you said - he’s not meant to be long term, so let’s all enjoy buck discovering his true self and getting to be happy and have a good relationship while doing it as we build in to buddie!

It’s what I’m here for and I will enjoy Tommy for as long as he’s around because I think he’s a fun and interesting and well written character who is helping move the narrative along wonderfully!!!

Okay, with how things are looking and all the interviews popping up around it, it's really looking like Buddie's gonna go canon either by the end of this season or the beginning of next

Literally everything is pointing to them going canon (mainly Mr. Guzman being let out of PR jail lmao) but I can also see ABC waiting until next season to actually make it official. Here's my reasoning:

It's a new network and there's gonna be an entirely new audience of people meeting these characters for the first time

People need to see why Eddie wouldn't be with a girlfriend so Marisol is (unfortunately) still in the picture so he can break up with her

With the combined Cruise Ship disaster, Madney wedding, and only 10 episodes for the season, it's pretty packed with content

It's confirmed we're getting Buck and Eddie "friendship" scenes in every episode, so that could be a way to help warm up the GA to the idea of them being a couple

We wouldn't want them getting together to feel rushed

I hear your screams about them having 5 seasons of buildup and teasing, so them getting together right away wouldn't be "rushed". But again, it's a new season on a new network with some people as a new audience. To those who haven't seen the show before, Eddie breaking up with Marisol and immediately going out with Buck would probably feel rushed or forced to them so they'd need a bit more buildup to get behind the idea of "Buddie"

Alternatively, I can also see ABC doing what FOX did with Bobby and Athena in season one;

Having them go on a full on date at the end of the season (or it could just be one of them asking the other to hang out, nothing out of the ordinary) and at the start of next season they're making out against the fire truck 🤡🤡🤡

I'm just saying this now so if they don't go canon this season I won't be (too) upset lol

I’m not entirely sure about abc hating on the actor/character. But how his relationship with Buck has been written with the closet joke, not dressing up, and the very limited scenes they’ve had together alone (seriously bucktaylor had more build up than them), it sus. Though deliberate I believe too. Tommy is a plot device, stepping stone, buddie eye opener, whatever you want to call him and he will show us (I hope) the true route to buddie.

I really don’t think we’ll have to wait till season 10 for buddie. (That’s the wedding, Oliver said so lol). I agree the delulu is not so delulu. Keep the faith anon. Buddie will be upon soon….

Some things bugging me lately. Tarlos are not a copy of Buddie. Literally the only thing that is copied is the show has 911 in the title and contains LGBTQ first responders. If Tarlos were copying Buddie where is the proposal between Buck and Eddie? The wedding? The moving in together? The kisses? Tarlos is its own unique couple with its own unique storylines. No one is copying! Likewise Tarlos is not following the Buddie blueprint. See above. In their relationships there are no similarities as one is married and the other have never even kissed. Tarlos scenes are hot and there is chemistry. End of that discussion.

Tarlos did not go straight into a relationship. They may have jumped straight into bed (or a honkytonk stall) but just watch season 1. TK clearly says not ready for a relationship. Twice. And yes he changed his mind in the final episode but that is the point st which the relationship starts. 10 episodes, 1 whole season in. Not straight away.

most people who hate on tarlos and their relationship have actually no idea what happens in it because they’re accused of having no chemistry, having shallow and not deep arguments/probelms, no development, etc. which is all clearly untrue if you’ve watched any of their relationship

the worst thing that ever happened to lone star was being a spinoff. I wish we were forever tied to a different show that I want nothing to do with

i watched the 911 promo clip and here are my thoughts

captain hats - obviously one them becoming the interim captain

i know a lot of you on tumblr don't like the idea of it being buck but i think it could be him

hen will be settling in with the new child and that requires a lot from a person

chim is busy planning the wedding with maddie and literally every time a wedding has happened the person planning was not captain

it could be eddie but we've never really seen him want to be anything more than the role he has at the fire station currently

we saw how buck took charge in the bridge collapse and it's made him think his ready to actually be a captain but the cruise will make him realise he still hasn't properly dealt with his trauma and maybe he isn't actually ready for (or doesn't actually want) the captain's title

wedding ring - madney wedding

like i said chim is busy helping plan the wedding so maybe he won't actually be on call for the cruise

everyone he knows, all of his family, is working on it except him

it'll be a fun callback to season 2 after he got stabbed and called tommy(?, an old member of the 118 who transferred) in for extra help

buddie having keys to each others houses is such a big thing to the fandom and if abc want to be great they definitely would've picked up on it

linking to the captains hat buck or eddie (or both) have panic attacks because of how much fucking trauma they have because of the water (the plane in s1, the tsunami, the well, the lightning strike - you could probably find something im every season) and they end up staying at eddie's together for awhile so they don't have to be alone

of course they both have their girlfriends (marisol and natalia) but they just don't understand this situation and the trauma they shared together and how bad it affected them

(alternatively the loft burns down and buck moves in with eddie, they share one set of keys)

also the anchor keychain?? buck and eddie are there for each other no matter what, they ground each other and have each others back

the watch - the time is right

i think the time on the watch is at 7:30 (obviously i could be wrong) and y'know what else had 7 and 3?? 3 minutes and 17 seconds

the number has been such a big part of tragic/traumatic storylines throughout the show i wouldn't be surprised if it was here now

timing is such a great them and goes perfectly with the already set up storylines for this season

madney wedding - there's no time like the present, lets gather everyone we love and have a wedding in a meaningful place (bathena backyard) and be happy together forever as soon as possible

baby wilson - they're finally ready to grow healthily, they've had a lot of things test their marriage (hen cheating, ivf, hen's kidnapping, karen losing her job, hen going to med school, karen almost dying in an explosion at her work) and now they can finally say they're at a place where they want to expand their family properly and permanently

buddie's girlfriends - the issue with their girlfriends had always been timing and when they meet, did marisol and natalia come at the right time? will they stay and be permanent for the boys? will they break up? will the break up still leave them as friends (i hope so)

bathena cruise - i don't need to say much. they thought they finally had time to relax and be themselves and be with each other. it seems the only way they're going to get that is retirement

some other fun stuff/thoughta:

you can see a helicopter light, could be lucy or tommy flying - we know they both can

the time duration on the call being 1:18 is great 10/10

the keys could also be about may? her being on college/uni, no longer being at dispatch, she wouldn't know what's going on other than through the updates on the news and anything she can get out of whoever is at the call/maddie (but then anyone at the cruise is highly unlikely to answer their calls/messages)

I get the feeling that between these two right now is that Buddy is trying to convince Susan that this race isnt something she needs to do. I dont know about you guys but... Is it just me or do Buddy and Susan look like their dressed to kinda... match?

Susan no doubt gearing up and pre-glare putting on the jacket. Or taking it off. She'll see the Pink Ladies hyping up whoever is gonna race, my money's still on Olivia but if it's Cynthia or Jane I will be amused either way.

Regardless of how things go down for the race, who's behind the wheel, I would want both the T-Birds and the Soc's to have this look on their face if the race goes BAD. Like, grinding gears, tires screeching.

I am loving Jane's outfit right now. .. But I cant help but notice the fact that both Jane and Cynthia behind her both have their hands on their hips. I know when a challenge is being issued and the look here is kinda what I am getting.

Gil... Rag in hand (from what I am looking at) has been no doubt tending to his TBird for a race.

Ah, Dot. Im sticking with my first bet with her being Susan's flag girl for the race she has.

Either that's a 'good race' or an 'agreed' handshake over a deal of somesort. Dot looking so pleased with everything and Hazel looking like she could throw down right now.. Hazel, you good?

I am going to say that Olivia is going to have a moment where she thinks about her life with the POS that is Mr. Daniels and it plays out in her head in a way that leaves her miserable and I am HOPING that since this is being shown in black and white that if Gil gets back into the picture, colour comes back in like Bewitched or something.

So good to see everyone together but... Um... I am going to point this out, Olivia but there are bows, lace and white. That, everybody is goddamn wedding dress if I ever saw one.

Side note or maybe I am just projecting... You see the guy to Nancy's right? If you look juuust above his shoulder... Im am PRAYING that THAT is Richie. It might just be some guy with the same hair but! LET ME HOPE!

Gotta say, its hard to see the 'Shake Shack' and not hear 'your the one that I want'..

For this final episode, I dont have much to go on and can't speculate much when I have already said my piece in past posts..

All I will end on is that I am hoping for a second season.

Buddie & Madney - 7x6 & Karaoke

I'm still frustrated about the fact that 9-1-1 promoted episode 7x6 by using clips of Buck and Eddie to get people to watch. Also, I'm going to be real about it because the reason they did it was to get engagement but that's not the only thing that's pissing me off.

The Buddie and Madney 'ships have been intertwined since 2x6 "Dosed" when Buck, Eddie and Chimney helped Maddie move into her new apartment. They're ship pairings are similar to the Bathena and Henren 'ships because Hen and Athena are best friends and the four of them play cards and spend time together all the time. They don't necessarily hang out with Maddie and Chimney or Buck and Eddie like they do each other.

Buck and Eddie aren't married (Yet! If the narrative continues the way that it began in season 2 they will be but only TM knows what he's trying to accomplish with them now) but their friends to lovers love story has paralleled Maddie's and Chimney's and it appears the karaoke scene was intentionally added to parallel with Maddie's and Chimney's karaoke scene from 2x8. Furthermore, Maddie's and Eddie's lives parallel (both are the eldest siblings and they also had to shoulder a lot of their parents' responsibilities/secrets). Also, believe it or not but Buck's and Chimney's lives do too (they both have abandonment issues. Reminder, Sang left Chimney to fend for himself when he moved back to Korea).

The thing that's really irritating me about 7x6 is from the start it SHOULD HAVE ONLY BEEN ABOUT MADDIE AND CHIMNEY getting married. That's it! There shouldn't have been this whole Chimney gets kidnapped/abducted or whatever is supposed to happen because they've been through a lot. Why couldn't they have simply had a nice wedding episode that highlighted their relationship? It could have included flashbacks that showed where they started and how they arrived at the point they're at now. Also, it could have shown how they overcame adversity even after they decided to end things when they were on their way back to L.A. after Maddie left in season 5. Then they could have proceeded to show how they rekindled their true love in season 6. Too much has happened for them off-screen and also, they've had the most tumultuous relationship especially with the Doug Kendell of it all when he tried to kill both of them.

Buck and Eddie's party shenanigans might still be included but if they never intended to air their "karaoke scene" (they knew they weren't going to include it by the end of 7x5 because it's been said it takes 2 weeks for an episode to be edited but they kept promoting Buck and Eddie instead of Maddie and Chimney), therefore they shouldn't have focused on Buddie as much as they did. Additionally, OS said he was terrified of singing karaoke but he did it and he's proud of it. RG and OS both looked like they were having a good time doing it so IMO, they could have at least included 15 seconds of the song and eliminated something else.

I'm really trying not to feel like they're using Buddie shippers for views but that's what it seems like. If they wanted people to genuinely watch Madney's wedding for their love story then there wouldn't have been a need to add Buck and Eddie in the promos and they should have let JLH and KC do all the interviews after 7x5 aired in preparation for 7x6.

Finally, since they have more than an hour and a half of footage, it appears the wedding should have been slotted for 2 episodes instead of one and they could have accomplished it if they would have planned better. A lot of things that's included in 7x5 could have been condensed or added to 7x4 so they could have started the wedding scenes at the end of 7x5.

Be clear, this is NOT 9-1-1's first time filming a 10-episode season, that was season 1. Also, season 4 only had 14 episodes and that was because of the pandemic so they're not strangers to understanding how to fit everything into a limited number of episodes. Maybe they need to focus on time management instead of adding people to the ever-growing list of recurring characters and focus on their mains. Karen, Denny and Ravi are all recurring characters who've been around for several seasons (Karen and Denny since season 1 and Ravi since season 4) but for some reason they keep bringing new people and giving them more screen time instead of focusing on the core cast. We've all seen it before in season 5 with all the time they gave Taylor Kelly so this 7x6 debacle basically comes down to poor planning. IMO, someone who's responsible for the decisions that were made with the promos and the final edits should say something to the audience about it.

Okay because i put my thoughts in the tags the first time heres some of my spn au thoughts

Also disclaimer i am changing the supernatural story so dont get mad at me for not including things or changing things you like this is my house and i write the au <3

Characters: Dean -> Mav, Cas -> Ice, Sam -> Slider, John Winchester-> Duke Mitchell, Mary Winchester -> Slider’s mom (her name is also Mary in my Slider lore so), Bobby -> Viper, Ash -> Goose, Ellen -> Carole, Jo -> Bradley (he’s like a teen in this but don’t worry theres no Jo and Dean content 🤮 thats his godson) 

-slider and mav aren’t actually related, they were both 6 (mav older by a few months) when their parents got married, duke was a widower and mary was never married 

-Getting this out of the way although i love the chevy impala i am a truck freak so mav drives his dads black 1990 toyota sr5 with an extended cab 

Backstory: -viper and duke were both navy pilots now “hunting buddies”, they took mav and slider out hunting occasionally but whenever they went on long “hunting trips” they left slider and mav at home, that’s because these hunting trips were monster hunting trips

-the same thing that happens to sam and deans mom happens to mav and sliders mom but when they’re both around the age of 10, since they’re older and not stupid they have a lot of questions that duke can’t just bullshit answers to so he tells them about monsters and what he thinks took their mom (because he doesn’t actually know at this point)

-since they no longer have a house they stay at vipers or go on the road with duke 

-once they both start high school slider wants to stop hunting and stay with viper to focus on school, his relationship with duke gets weird after that because duke wants him to keep hunting to find what killed his mom but slider wants to do well in school to make his mom proud, they come to an agreement where slider stays with viper but once a month he has to come hunting

-slider leaves for university (idk what hes studying), mav graduates but stays with duke, he starts hunting on his own 

Now time: -This au starts in 2005 like the show

-duke picks up a lead on the thing that killed mary but is super vague about it when telling viper and doesn’t tell mav anything, he says he’ll be gone for a week but a week and a half later theres no word from him, viper refuses to go after him because “he’s gonna get himself killed” and “ive been telling him to let it go for years” but mav still has to go look for him

-mav finds slider and this basically carries out exactly how it does in the show, he agrees to help for one day, when he gets back his gf is dead, agrees to ditch school 😎 to come help look for duke

story wise thats all i've got so far, i want ice to come into the story a lot sooner than cas does in the show and i dont remember when ash, ellen and jo come in but i want them to come in sooner too. hopefully ill actually work on this more but i hope you guys enjoy

Character descriptions:

Mav: -has the classic dean necklace given to him by slider

-dresses basically the same as 86 movie mav but with flannel 😎

-does wear his cowboy boots but he’s normally wearing work boots

-eyebrow scar eyebrow scar eyebrow scar!!!

Slider: -wears his mother’s wedding ring on a necklace, duke gave it to him after she died

-dresses like early season sam, carhartt jacket, hoodies, tshirts and baggy jeans

-silver eyebrow piercing 😎

Ice: -exactly the same as cas but with a dark grey trench coat

-his eyes always glow a little, not enough that its noticeable unless its in the dark

-has a grey hoodie and black jeans for when he needs to look a little less “formal” 

Goose: -has a mullet its a key part of ash’s character so 

-just think mater from cars personified mixed with goose idk

Carole: -dresses exactly like ellen 

-her classic curly meg ryan hair stays tho

bradley: -just a mini goose

Duke and Viper: -they look pretty much the same, just some dad with a mustache and flannel

-only difference is duke always wears his wedding ring
