Academic advices from a (non american) law student.
Premise: I feel the urge to underline the fact that I am not American nor attend any university in America due to the fact that most tips and tricks I found, coming from Americans, were scarce in terms of concrete application. If you found them to be useful, then I am more than glad. All I wish to do is to share different experiences and approaches to the university world that are maybe differing from the usual content.
I. “Time restricted” spaced repetition: the great majority of the subject in my curriculum are quite complex and portray a large number of complex topics, Latin terms, and regulations that are specific. What I suggest here is to write down in a fun colour (to me it is red) the words, terms, names and phrases that are difficult for you to remember. We are not born all knowing, and some terms can be, at first glance, peculiar or unusual. That is completely normal. Therefore, write down anything that you may struggle to remember and every day, you do your best to recall those specific terms, and over the span of even two days you will most likely incorporate even the most difficult words.
II. Repeat out loud: in my university, we do not have written exams. Therefore, practicing your speech for the exam is fundamental for us. However, even if your exams are not oral, explaining out loud subjects helps you remember them better (even if you give a look to your notes from time to time). Do this from day one of preparation. My favourite way of doing so is to repeat everything when outside, while on a walk or at a cafe.
III. Mental connections: chances are, some topics will be repeated in different ways in the same subject. For instance, the concept of inter-subjective laws was discussed three times in this one course, and each time a different aspect was discussed. What I am suggesting is that, when a particular topic or word comes up often, you force yourself to do two things: first, you do a repetition exercise in which you repeat where and when was that topic already mentioned, and second, you differentiate between the two. Why are they different, how are they different and in what ways they are similar.
IV. During the lectures: our professors do not record lectures, nor do they use any platform to “stream” them. If it is possible for you, attend the lectures! Take careful notes and correct them right away, after the lectures has finished! Ask those questions, no matter how “silly” they may be! The professor is right there for you, so you might as well use the opportunity to enrich your knowledge.
V. The notes: print them. Not only will your eyes thank you, but I find studying from paper more effective and it is easier to focus. Call me a grandma, but that is the truth. And if correcting some parts is the reason you prefer digital, try to simply cover the parts tg at you wish to rewrite eight plain paper and write the correction on it. This way the topic will be easier to be remembered.
VI. Audiobook: this may sound unusual, but listening to your notes can be quite beneficial. Due to me being a student, I have free access to the Microsoft package: world has this “read aloud” feature, and I play the audio during the night. The subconscious mind is much more powerful than what you may think of it.
VII. Grades: obviously we all aim for the greatest grades, but often the way we are graded may be out of your control. Sometimes you may get sick right before the exam, sometimes the examiner may be irritated and got up already upset with the world, sometimes we could have given better performances. It happens, and it will inevitably make you feel awful and out of place: please, remember to be kind and gentle with yourself. It will be better the next time, but in that moment remember that you are never alone. If you do not wish to talk it out with someone, ask ChatGPT. It really gives comfort and great advices in moments of frustration and disappointment. Do not ruin your life for a temporary moment.

📚 Procrastination vs. Quick Deadlines: How to Turn Pressure into Productivity 💻
Let’s be real—procrastination happens to the best of us. You know that creeping feeling of doom when a deadline looms closer than expected? Here’s the thing: quick deadlines can actually work in your favor if you approach them right. Here’s how to handle procrastination like a pro:
Why Do We Procrastinate?
• Fear of failure (you don’t start because it won’t be perfect).
• Overwhelm (the task feels TOO big).
• “I work better under pressure” (but do you really?).
How to Crush It with Quick Deadlines
1️⃣ Divide and Conquer
Break your task into tiny, doable chunks.
• 1 hour left? Focus on the key points only.
• Got 24 hours? Plan for three sprints with short breaks.
2️⃣ Activate Beast Mode
Use time-blocking apps like Forest or set a timer (hello, Pomodoro method). No distractions allowed during these blocks.
3️⃣ Set Artificial Deadlines
Treat self-made deadlines like the real deal. For example:
• Essay due Friday? Act like it’s due Wednesday.
4️⃣ Eliminate Decision Paralysis
Start with the easiest part to build momentum—write the intro later. Just start.
5️⃣ Reward Yourself
Beat the clock? Treat yourself to your fave snack, a cozy Netflix binge, or even a nap (guilt-free, of course).
Remember:
Progress > Perfection. Your work doesn’t have to be flawless; it just has to exist. Deadlines are your motivation—let them push you to greatness, not panic. 💪

4 School tips
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Recommended)
1. GO TO SCHOOL!
To do well in school first you need to actually go. Keeping your attendance good is very important and make sure you’re actually doing the work. Some mornings will be hard to get out of bed but it’s going to be worth it in the long run. If you’re anything like me that struggles to get out of bed in the morning try to add things into your routine that will help you such as putting your alarm clock far from you so you have to get up to turn it off.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Make a routine
You should be getting 8+ hours of sleep. Set your routine. Go to sleep and wake up at the same time everyday. If you wake up earlier, go to bed earlier. To avoid burnout don’t stay up all night doing your homework instead create a planner whether it be physical or digital. Plan out your weeks and make space, set certain times for studying, homework, and selfcare.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Dietary habits
Stay hydrated and eat. Always bring a bottle of water with you and pack a lunch. Fuel your body with lots of protein, fruits and vegetables. Look up some quick and easy foods you can make such as overnight oats, yogurt bowls, smoothies etc..
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Balance
Dont overfill your schedule. Remember to take some time for yourself. Do your skincare, read a book, workout, take supplements. Prioritize yourself!!!! Tell yourself affirmations everyday to feed your mind positively and stay motivated to keep going. If you get stressed or overwhelmed it’s okay to take a break and breathe.

Here you have doodle of Sparkpulse!Bee (created by @eldritch-araneae) that I made to destress a bit. I've wanted to draw him like this for a quite long time.
I have no idea if he actually can sit like this but I think the bonus pair of arms (front paws?) expands his hugging capabilities.
Also, damn, his wings are difficult, but I tried. Also I wasn't sure about some parts of the design, so I made them up lol. So yeah, there are probably mistakes here, but well

Take care of yourselves, even during the exam season
Yep, you read that right!
You do need to love yourself, take care of yourself and listen to your needs and wants, even during the exam season.
Time is tight. Tension is high. Anxiety is hitting the body with ferocity.
With all this going on you are just trying to hold on and make it one day at a time.
You are pushing your body to its limit. Forcing your brain to mug up all the information. Coffee after coffee, you are trying to stay awake all night.
But then you crash. After a few days, and nights, of crammed up schedule and ramen enforced studies, there it is. The day where you can't gather the energy to get out of your bed. You can't get your eyelids to open and you certainly can't remove your blanket out of the way.
You slump and sleep all day long. And then the night comes, the guilt hits you hard. A whole day wasted!
You have a headache. You are hungry. You are frustrated and a lot more angry. At yourself. At the exams. At everything.
You think what happened! Why can't you get out of the bed. Why can't you study, even when you want to.
It is because
U summed up all your energy and forced yourself to work well beyond your limits.
You forgot to take care of your mind and body.
You asked so much out of you, that now there's no energy left to perform even a minimal task.
Do Not Get Here!
Where u r feeling guilty, low and sad; because your body and mind can't perform at the level you expect it to.
Man, love yourself during this time.
Don't you comfort and give extra love to your friend who's going through a tough time? You are going through that time during exam season, so love yourself harder these days.
Make a calming tea. I prefer chamomile tea or berries cold tea.
Listen to your body. These days, I have a sore throat, so I make myself ginger lemon honey tea. It works wonders. You can try for yourself.
Dedicate some time to do what you love everyday. It doesn't have to be something big, even the small things matter, like painting, sketching, or having coffee or your favourite food.
Go on a walk. You are sitting all day long. Your body is cramped in a library, cafe or your dorm. Get yourself the much needed fresh air.
Candles are magic. You can light a candle, of your liking, and enjoy the smell while you study.
Dress for yourself. Just because you will be in your room or library, studying the whole day, doesn't mean you have to be in depressing grey bottoms and equally depressing college t-shirts. Dress, so that when you look at yourself in the mirror, before leaving to study, you can smile at yourself.
Keep foodies goodies with you and not just the junk stuff. Keep some nuts, some dark chocolates or you can even cut some fruits. That way you will enjoy the variety of it and keep the studying interesting.
Drink Water. Yes, it is important. Being hydrated keeps half the problems away.
Talk to your friends or family members, who are always there, encouraging you all the time. Believe me, it helps a lot, knowing there is always someone for you.
Avoid toxic, negative or competitive people who just burden your mind with their trash.
And lastly, Meditate or do something that is calming, even reading, just not the syllabus stuff🙈

I'm doing it. You can do it too!
Take care of yourself. Love yourself.

The " I'm So Back" - Back to School Saga ⋆˙⟡♡
This past weekend I came back to my dorm since being home for two weeks. It has seriously been the most refreshing week, and the last two days have been nothing short of exhilarating.
With the new school year ahead, I wanted to hit the reset button on all elements of my life ( my self care routine, daily routines, style, music taste, general aesthetic). While back home a few weeks ago, I began exploring more authentic aesthetics based on my current and childhood interests. I also did a music revamp, making new playlists and adjusting old ones to set the vibe for the upcoming year. Having all this done before coming back to my dorm made it easy to jump right into things once getting back.
I started the week back by decorating my dorm. I had the dorm to myself so I played music and took my time arranging things. I love decorating so this was a total blast.
Each evening I gave myself a self care task, one night was shaving legs, the next a face mask, another a teeth strip, ect... This helped me to get not only my space but my body ready for back to school season.
Yesterday was my first day back at work , my goals was to give a great impression while getting to know everyone since there's more people with the fall semester beginning. I also wanted to just kick the year off on a strong note! I had the amazing opportunity to talk to so many new and sweet people! I spent quality time with a few new coworker friends, we did various tasks which helped me to get to know everyone more and ask them some questions. Talking to new people and getting to be social and bubbly is something that really helps my mental health. I feel like my most true self when I get to turn on my social mode. I'm full of enthusiasm, confident, and always being silly. It felt nice to have the people at work see my personality come out since the summer semester was very relaxed I didn't have a chance to fully express myself.
Today I woke up around 4:30am and just chilled in bed until around 6:45. I got ready and played with the kitty & watching the sunrise while listening to some jazz music. Just before 8 I went on a lovely walk to work, today was a particularly exciting day at work since it was move in day on campus. All the freshmen are there with their families excited to move in, it's so sweet to watch. I'm lucky enough to be working with housing so I got to be apart of all the action and did check-ins for 6 hours straight, sounds crazy but I had a blast! I got to meet everyone coming to live on campus and have brief nice conversations with them. I also had some amazing chats with my coworkers in between check ins ( we did laughed a ton and got to know eachother , but it was a great feeling getting to strengthen bonds with coworkers ). My boss was also super supportive today and I met many encouraging and kind people in my department who somehow all knew me already. It felt like I was really becoming apart of the housing team. It's been a while since i've felt like i've been apart of a team like that, back in high school I would do work in technical theater and it satisfied that same sense of community. It feels amazing to reconnect with that feeling again and be socializing so much after having a year of not being so social. I ended the day with a great shower, mcdonald's ( my favorite mcchicken) , play with the kitty, and watching pretty little liars ( my pre - autumn tv show of choice ). Sitting here now snuggling with kitty, a vanilla candle on, all showered and clean, & the lights dim, i'm over the moon grateful for these moments and I know more are to come.
With this being my senior year I knew I wanted to make it a great one, but really seeing the greatness come into fruition before my eyes has been absolutely incredible.
I'm so excited for the rest of the school year, especially for getting my school supplies, new outfits, and getting into the groove things! I'll be sharing my routines and such along the way - I'm so excited to post about it all!!

If you're in school, seek accommodations!
Hi!
In one of my earlier posts, I mentioned invisible disabilities - ones that aren't visible (like a wheelchair or prosthetic would be) but still impact a person's quality of life and could hinder them in certain situations.
The negative effects of a disability tend to be more pronounced in a learning setting - like school. Thus, most schools are actually required to provide accommodations for disabilities.*
A lot of people tend to think that accomodations are the same for every disability, and thus that they shouldn't bother trying to get them. But this is not the case! Every disability is different, and thus the accommodations will be different as well.
I, for example, am still in school. My disability makes it difficult for me to participate in and focus during group work. And if somebody's eating during class, I won't even be able to function. These factors hinder my learning experience, so my school provides unique accommodations that are specific to my needs.
I can wear headphones, earbuds, or earplugs in class I can leave the classroom if I am experiencing sensory overload I have preferential seating I have extended time on assessments and tests
Never feel like you're being dramatic or making a fuss when asking for accommodations! These are necessary for you to have a good experience, and you are entitled to them.
*accommodations and the formalities/documentation needed to acquire them vary depending on your location and your level of schooling, so make sure to consult a guidance counselor or trusted adult in your school to find out what actions need to be taken.
- keep on feeling the love,
🧸𝑀𝒾𝓈𝑜🧸

A little checklist of things I'd like to get done tonight:
🍂 Start a new Sims playthrough, to play in the background of studying.
🍂 Make individual chore lists for each room in the house. 🍂 Listen to class lectures. 🍂 Take notes. 🍂 Have a good meal. 🍂 Make some tea. 🍂 Set aside some time to meditate.
