Naruto - Is an incredibly restless sleeper. He doesn't just sleep talk. He argues. Loud and brash. Mostly with himself, the folds within his sleeping bag and whoever is unlucky enough to be within reach of his limbs. I've seen him attempt to strangle one of Sakura's sandals on more than one occasion, referring to it as 'Kabu-no-baka'.

Sakura - Uses the same hair care products as the Ninken. Pakkun swears it's rich in Biotin and Jojoba oil which 'hydrates, repairs, and renews with every wash'.

The sun had long been set when Sakura finally made her way out of the hospital. For once the late hour couldn’t be blamed on board meetings or even a patient. She’d been stalling. 

She couldn’t wait any longer. Not wanting to stand out, she avoided the rooftops and stuck to the less used streets that led to the civilian district. Once she was sure no one was paying her any attention, she darted through the door of the dusty bookshop.

The front of the store was homey and welcoming with plush chairs surrounding an already lit fireplace. The clerk greeted her with a genuine smile and offer of help, but Sakura knew exactly what she was looking for. She strolled up and down the aisles, occasionally reaching out with her chakra to make sure she knew exactly where everyone was.

Knowing the shop was going to close soon, Sakura took a deep breath and darted through the beaded curtain that separated the adult section from the rest of the store.

The Harvest Moon is the full Moon that occurs nearest to the autumnal equinox date (September 22, 2024). This means that either September or October’s full Moon may take on the name “Harvest Moon” instead of its traditional name. Similarly, the Hunter’s Moon is the first full Moon to follow the Harvest Moon, meaning it can occur in either October or November.

The Harvest Moon & the Hunter’s Moon are unique in that they are not directly related to this folklore or restricted to a single month. Instead, they are tied to an astronomical event: the autumnal equinox!

• October’s full Hunter Moon orbits closer to Earth than any of the other full Moons this year, making one of the four supermoons of 2024!  As the Moon drifts over the horizon around sunset, it may appear larger & more orange—how perfect for the fall season!

It is believed that this name originates from the fact that it was a signal for hunters to prepare for the upcoming cold winter by going hunting. This is because animals were beginning to fatten up in preparation for the winter season. Moreover, since fields had recently been cleared out under the Harvest Moon, hunters could easily spot deer & other animals that had come out to search for remaining scraps. Additionally, foxes & wolves would also come out to prey on these animals.

Samhain is about halfway between the autumnal equinox & winter solstice. It is one of the four Gaelic seasonal festivals along with Imbolc, Beltane, & Lughnasa. Historically it was widely observed throughout Ireland, Scotland, & the Isle of Man. 

Samhain is believed to have Celtic pagan origins &  some Neolithic passage tombs in Great Britain & Ireland are aligned with the sunrise at the time of Samhain. It is mentioned in the earliest Irish literature, from the 9th century & is associated with many important events in Irish mythology.

The early literature says great gatherings & feasts marked Samhain when the ancient burial mounds were open, which were seen as portals to the Otherworld. Some of the literature also associates Samhain with bonfires & sacrifices.

• According to Irish mythology, Samhain (like Beltane) was a time when the 'doorways' to the Otherworld opened, allowing supernatural beings and the souls of the dead to come into our world; while Beltane was a summer festival for the living, Samhain "was essentially a festival for the dead".

•The festival was not recorded in detail until the early modern era. It was when cattle were brought down from the summer pastures & livestock were slaughtered. Special bonfires were lit, which were deemed to have protective & cleansing powers.

At Samhain, the aos sí were appeased with offerings of food & drink to ensure the people & livestock survived the winter. The souls of dead kin were also thought to revisit their homes seeking hospitality & a place was set at the table for them during a meal. Divination was also a big part of the festival & often involved nuts & apples.

Mumming & guising were part of the festival from at least the early modern era, whereby people went door-to-door in costume, reciting verses in exchange for food. The costumes may have been a way of imitating & disguising oneself from the aos sí. 

• In the late 19th century, John Rhys and James Frazer suggested it had been the "Celtic New Year", but that is disputed.

Some believe it is the time of The Goddess' mourning the death of The God until his rebirth at Yule. The Goddess' sadness can be seen in the shortening, darkening days & the arrival or cold weather.

• Halloween( October 31st)-

In popular culture, the day has become a celebration of horror, being associated with the macabre and supernatural.

•One theory holds that many Halloween traditions were influenced by Celtic harvest festivals, particularly the Gaelic festival Samhain, which are believed to have pagan roots. Some go further & suggest that Samhain may have been Christianized as All Hallow's Day, along with its eve, by the early Church. Other academics believe Halloween began solely as a Christian holiday, being the vigil of All Hallow's Day.

Popular Halloween activities include trick-or-treating (or the related guising & ghouling), attending Halloween costume parties, carving pumpkins or turnips into jack-o'-lanterns, lighting bonfires, apple bobbing, divination games, playing pranks, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories, & watching horror or Halloween-themed films

• Day of the Dead(November 1st-2nd)-

 el Día de Muertos or el Día de los Muertos

The multi-day holiday involves family & friends gathering to pay respects & to remember friends & family members who have died. These celebrations can take a humorous tone, as celebrants remember amusing events & anecdotes about the departed. It is widely observed in Mexico, where it largely developed, and is also observed in other places, especially by people of Mexican heritage.

•The observance falls during the Christian period of Allhallowtide.

Traditions connected with the holiday include honoring the deceased using calaveras & marigold flowers known as cempazúchitl, building home altars called ofrendas with the favorite foods & beverages of the departed & visiting graves with these items as gifts for the deceased.

 The celebration is not solely focused on the dead, as it is also common to give gifts to friends such as candy sugar skulls, to share traditional pan de muerto with family & friends, & to write light-hearted & often irreverent verses in the form of mock epitaphs dedicated to living friends & acquaintances, a literary form known as calaveras literarias.

 Some argue that there are Indigenous Mexican or ancient Aztec influences that account for the custom & it has become a way to remember those forebears of Mexican culture.

• All Saint's Day(November 1st)- 

Also known as All Hallows' Day or the Feast of All Saints is a Christian solemnity celebrated in honour of all the saints of the Church, whether they are known or unknown.

Dear Future You by @scarecrows-to-cherrytrees is one i read recently and freaking adored. And it's completed. Timetravel, broody early Naruto Kakashi, his future Sakura pops back to cause mayhem. Sexy, addictive, wonderfully written. There's one fight scene, if you read it you'll get it, but it's so dark, and sexy, and fuck I felt like I should hang up my keyboard because I'll never write anything so amazing when I read that scene.

Bluemingqueen has an adorable ongoing same age au/timetravel called The Danger of Smudged Storage Scrolls that I'm also seriously loving. I think it's almost finished. Its freaking cute. Awkward little Kakashi, determined to not be useless Sakura, sweet best friend vibes and mostly I'm just obsessed with how cute they are together so young! Its so well done and I cant wait till its finished. They also had a lot of great amazing one shots for kakasaku week. Like seriously, so good.

If you like AU, I just binged the shit out of The Exciting Adventures of Lotus Man, Blue Boy and the Not-So-Relucant Doctor Petals by goldfish. I had to Google the anime they crossed with for this but it was so hilarious, amazing pacing, the way they are like, PROFESSOR at smoth as fuck Xovers. Like. The way the two worlds work so well. The characterization are on point and if you like romance with a side of bromance and a shy Kakashi, it's for you. I really recommend this one. Goldfish also has a hanahaki disease long one shot, Blood Red Cherry Blossoms. It is beautiful. It is flawless. There isn't a single thing about the story that I would have done differently or went, "hm, idk but whatever." But the end will crush your soul for ever. It's been months and it still lives on my head, making me well up with sad and anger. It's okay though, because I wrote a fix it chapter 2 in my head so I console myself.

Tea has a lot of smut. Not really my thing anymore but what I have seen is... well done lol there are also several cute as fuck one-shot and short fics amongst the porn. Baby You Can Drive My Car is an adorable example. And No Dogs Allowed is as well. I love dog dad Kakashi here so freaking much. And I say that as someone that can not stand obnoxious dog people irl.

There are several other long ones I can not think of the names of rn. One, involved K and S getting involved in a drug/human trafficking thing. I wish so much I could remember because it was amazing. She's drugged at a bar, he saves her. She comes on to him, he actually is into it but she's drugged so. They finally get handsy later and she's abducted mid coitus. Gets wild from there.

A Bad Movie & Some Good Popcorn

Day 3:

Fandom: Marauders: Teenage Sirius Black x Teenage Remus Lupin

Theme: A movie night; fluff; Established relationship.

Notes: Sorry this is posted so late! Happy day 3 of Mono’s Hanukkah Event! I came up with the title on the spot because I’m tired and have a migraine. Haven’t watched Marauders in a hot minute. Sorry if this is inaccurate! Enjoy day 3!

Remus was in the kitchen, kernels of corn dried up in a pan with half a stick of butter and three tablespoons of salt. He drew his wand from his robes, carefully reciting a spell before putting the glass lid on the pan as the kernels popped. He could smell the aroma waft through the kitchen. 

“Remus!” Sirius shouted from the living room. “Is the popcorn done yet? I’m almost done setting up the movie!” 

Remus looked back down to the pan. “It’s almost done!” he shouted back. 

“I hope so!” Sirius hollered back. “It smells divine!”

Remus himself could smell the delicious aroma that was popcorn in the pan. He listened as the popping slowed and the spell faded. Once the spell had finished completely, he took off the glass lid and gently scooped the popcorn into a large red bowl until it was filled to the top. 

He put down the pan onto the stovetop, grabbing the bowl with both hands and walking over to the next room, where his boyfriend, Sirius Black, was attempting to work a human television. 

“Humans are so strange!” Sirius exclaimed. “They make all these wacky inventions–” He stopped speaking when he smelled the warm popcorn bowl in his partner’s hands. “Oh that smells even better up close–even then the television has to be one of their best–!”

Remus placed the bowl of popcorn on the table in front of them and pecked a kiss to the crown of Sirius’s head, causing the latter man’s cheeks to paint a warm cherry blossom. 

“–Anyway!” Sirius blurted out, his face still a bright red. He pulled out a DVD and stuck it in the DVD player, closing the DVD player and stepping back. “I found this old human movie. It’s called ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and it came out in 1939–and apparently it has witches in it.”

“Maybe humans gave us a decent depiction this time?” Remus questioned, being optimistic. 

“I doubt it!” Sirius laughed, dragging Remus down onto the couch with him. The latter yelped and then started laughing with Sirius as they landed on the couch with a ‘thump,’ falling back into the tan-colored blanket. 

Sirius grabbed the fluffy tan blanket from behind them and draped it over the two of them, patting it down on Remus’s lap. The latter fellow had grabbed the remote and clicked the green button that had a circle with a line through the top of it. The TV turned on with bright intensity, the play screen of their movie with its clickable options bright and vibrant. 

Sirius clicked the play button and the movie’s screen went ot black before turning on in the same bright colors. 

“Dude, Dorothy killed her sister, of course she’s pissed! Why is she being depicted as wicked?!” Sirius yelled angrily, shoving another handful of popcorn in his mouth and chewing in an infuriated manner. “And she stole a dead witch’s shoes,” he mumbled through chewing. 

“I’m just surprised that Glinda is so calm about this,” Remus professed, shrugging. “A witch–like herself–was just murdered by having a house fall on her by some random girl and she just doesn’t care.”

“And she’s sending that child to a random emerald city to meet some wizard? Maybe this ‘Wizard’ fellow might be better than this not-very-good witch!” Sirius guessed, his voice raising as he spoke. 

“I somehow doubt that,” Remus jokes, punching Sirius playfully in the arm, causing him to jolt and bark out a laugh.

“Holy hells, that scarecrow’s alive!” Remus yelped in surprise, Sirius laughing at his response. 

“Probably illuminated by magic or something!” Sirius laughed, taking another handful of popcorn and shoving it into his mouth.

“When did you start thinking logically?” Remus questioned teasingly, causing Sirius to gasp in mock offense. 

“Oh shove off,” Sirius laughed, shoving Remus, causing popcorn to fall from his mouth. 

“Okay so we’ve met a scarecrow without a brain–who’s probably illuminated by magic, some weird apple throwing trees that are like a lesser version of the Whomping Willow, and now a tin man who’s been stuck like that for whoever knows how long?” Sirius recounted on his fingers as the movie played. 

“Imagine having an itch and you’re too rusted to scratch it,” Remus joked in response. 

“Oh bloody shove off!” Sirius yelped, pushing Remus playfully into the couch. 

“EUAGH! What is that?!” Sirius yelped, watching the screen in horror. 

“Crappy muggle makeup skills during the thirties,” Remus responded, taking a handful of popcorn and popping in one kernel at a time. 

“That might be a coward, but that sure isn’t a lion,” Sirius commented, shaking his head in comedic horror. 

“The flowers are putting them to sleep!” Remus announced, a smile on his face as he watched the screen. “A real, genuine spell.”

“Who would’ve thunk, no?” Sirius jokes, pulling out his wand. He waved it around and laughed, mimicking the effects of the flowers before falling back down on the couch with an ‘oomph’ and a laugh. 

“That city is crazy green,” Remus commented, blinking and looking away from the screen. 

“It’s called the Emerald City for a reason, Remus~” Sirius mocked jokingly. 

“Oh shove off it,” Remus chuckled under his breath. 

“HE WANTS THEM TO WHAT NOW?!” Sirius cried in disbelief. He crossed his arms, seemingly pouting. “Muggles and their muggle movies–murder witches now why don’t ya?”

“And you thought this wizard wouldn’t be evil?” Remus questioned, raising an eyebrow mockingly. 

“I stand corrected,” Sirius admitted through gritted teeth. 

“She melts with water?!” Sirius shouted, choking on popcorn as he did. Remus rubbed his back until he stopped coughing. “Witches don’t melt due to water!”

“And muggles don’t make accurate representations anymore,” Remus shrugged. 

“More like they never have,” Sirius muttered, folding his arms against himself and leaning back on the couch. 

“She could’ve gone home the whole time?!” Sirius gasped. “Glinda you prat!”

“She could’ve gone home this whole time, not having to kill a witch or visit a fake wizard or get spelled or kidnapped. . .that’s messed up Glinda,” Remus shook his head, disappointment gracing his tone. 

“Let’s never watch another muggle movie like this,” he pointed to the screen that was now rolling credits. “-ever again.”

“That’s fine. . .but admit, it was funny how terrible it was,” Remus suggested, turning to Sirius and looking him in the eyes. 

“. . .Yeah, you’re right,” Sirius relinquished, rolling his eyes. “But next time, let’s watch a better movie, like ‘Lord of the Rings’ or ‘The Three Musketeers?’” Sirius suggested, sending Remus a cheeky smile. 

Remus returned the smile, burrowing his head into Sirius’s chest, wrapping his arms around the smaller fellow. “As long as it’s with you.”
