If Kakashi and Gai are retired adventures, what do they like to do? Do they own a tavern and send younger questers on their way? Or work in library/ book store and defend them from unruly parties?
Or is it more "retired" in they will mostly relax with thwir little garden and personal training and happy little tavern, but then they get bored and pick up some adventures while saying "they jjst wanted to go out on a walk." And suddenly a BBEG is defeated along with his armies, after Kakashi and Gai decide to go out for a weekend.
I WANT to say that they retire and live out the rest of their lives relaxing in happy bliss
But i also know these two and i know it’s impossible for them to completely retire. Pretty sure they’d lose their minds XD
They do own a bookshop/coffee shop mix. It starts just as a bookshop when Kakashi gets it (he has been saving up money from missions for years and only figures out what to use it for after his party is killed in battle) but when Gai joins he decides to make a lil bookshop corner
It’s the first mix of its kind so people are intrigued and it allows Kakashi and Gai to he together but with their own lil shops
But also these two 100% go out for walks and end up stumbling upon some sort of problem they have to help sort out
Every
Single
Time
There’s no escaping it
Sometimes trouble seeks them out at the bookshop/coffee shop and they’re forced to defend their new venture from complete destruction

If you have to talk about each Hokage’s mistake/Weakness
Kakashi’s is being unable to fully focus on being Hokage without distraction
Man has to go for ‘walks’ to keep himself busy. He is not made for a desk job.
Another would be doubting himself
This dude seriously thought HE would be the ‘worst hokage in history’ and went through his years as Hokage with that mentality
If he’s just gone in and believed in himself i’m sure he could have done so much more good. But he set himself up expecting judgement and failure

You don't need to answer the previous anon anymore (although I'm still interested in your opinion) there I got a reply to the tweet and one told me that maybe the op was referring to Sasuke and Orochimaru's parole. Since even though they were helpful in the war, it doesn't take away that they had committed crimes in all nations before. For example, Sasuke literally invaded the Kages' meeting, attacked them and even caused the Raikage to have to amputate his arm. At the end of Shippuden, Kakashi himself says that now, that he's the future Hokage, he gave his student freedom on his behalf. In other words, if he commits any crime, Kakashi will be directly responsible as Kage. And the same for Orochimaru and Kabuto. That while it's better to have them as allies than to simply kill them, that doesn't take away from the fact that he intervened in the punishment of those people to not include permanent imprisonment or death. And that's corruption.
I understand what they mean and since I don't know much about the subject, I didn't get involved.
We actually don’t know who paroled Orochimaru
It kight have been Kakashi or Tsunade. She still held power for a while after the war, and has more reason’s to forgive Orochimaru (since he’s her teammate)
As for Sasuke, at the end of the day the only person he killed was Danzo. Like, ya he attacked people
But he didn’t actually kill anyone other than Danzo. Maybe some background characters but that’s a risk of the job sorry to say
And he DEF made up for it by helping to save the world from Infinite tsukiyomi
Also you’d have to blame naruto as well since he also vouched for Sasuke and fought for his freedom.
It also dosent count as corruption as Kakashi flat out states if Sasuke does anything else it lands squarely on his shoulders, aka he’s taking full responsibility for Sasuke and his future actions.
Those who are corrupt would more likely say something like ‘if you step out of line again i’ll have to have you killed’ or ‘you will be hunted down’
They would avoid taking responsibility. The corrupt do not take responsibility (see: hiruzen. Lets Itachi take full blame even though he knows he’s largely at fault)

hii, today on twitter they were talking about the mistakes of the hokages, and in Kakashi they said “maybe corruption” and as I don't know much about it, I wanted to know your opinion, for you is it possible the scenario where Kakashi was corrupt to keep the peace or is it illogical following what they showed us?
There is no proof of corruption so they’re pulling that one out of their ass
Corruption belongs to Hiruzen

Minato decides he needs a new advanture party after trying to go solo for years, and decides to pick a team of fresh new eyes
People he can mold and work with in a way that better suits him
So he pits up flyer’s and quickly finds himself approached by three bright eyed new adventurers. Ok, Kakashi’s not what you would call ‘bright eyed’ but he’s determined and that matters more to Minato
There’s only one problem
Kakashi and Obito just cannot get along
Obito views Kakashi as an obstacle and someone to beat rather than someone to work with
Kakashi views Obito as a nuisance and someone who just gets in his way
And they are always always ALWAYS fighting no matter what the party is doing
No matter how hard Minato try’s to get the two to work together and get along, nothing works. It gets really annoying at times, but can also be really helpful in a weird way because the two will end up trapping opponents between them and bombarding them with attacks
Minato’s not sure he understands how this all functions, but he appreciates winning so he won’t complain too much

Orc Kakashi who goes to school to learn spells, and against all odds and despite the people who think he’s going to flunk out, rocketting to the top of his classes
Becoming a prodigy and recognized as a genius for his quick learning and tactical planning capabilities. Really showing off not just that he can learn spells, but that he can use them effectively in a battle.

My first instinct for Kisame is some kind of fighter. Possibly an eldritch knight, which creates a magical bond between themselves and their blade that prevents them from being disarmed unless they're incapacitated and allows them to summon their weapon at will, also allowing them to cast a spell and make a sword attack in the same turn (no other class really gets that). The weapon also gains the ability to bypass damage resistance. That's in addition to the normal fighter abilities allowing weapon mastery, able to function as a tank and deal a lot of damage, plus action surge making them extra dangerous in combat. So I see a lot of potential.
I could also see an argument for warlock pact of the blade, but I see more holes in this one.
An interesting option would be way of the kensei monk. Its a monk class that train their weapons to be an extension of their bodies that again would make Kisame even more connected and dangerous with his sword. It would be interesting since he and guy have a almost rivalry of sorts so I do like the thematic parallels
Ihhh eldrich knight and Kensei monk both sound so good, but i agree with you on the themstic parallels (though i’d say it’s a very one sided rivalry since Gai cannot be arsed to remember Kisame xD which makes it more fun cuz it pisses Kisame off so much)

Id argue that arcane trickster rogue for Itachi still leaves him a ton of versatility. He can pack a powerhouse of damage (sneak attack), gets a lot of skill utility (rogues get additional proficiency and even gain mastery in some skills that boost their bonuses.) gets uncanny dodge and evasion to avoid damage (one to avoid physical attacks, one to avoid AOEs), gets blindsense for awareness (able to locate hidden or invisible creatures at a certain range), plus then the arcane trickster subclass gives him spell casting and the ability to steal the knowledge of how to cast spells from others, to be able to cast it himself.
You could give him a multiclass, but I feel like arcane trickster rogue hits on a ton of Itachi's abilites.
That does sound about right. Again, this is not my area of expertise so most of the time i’m going to defer to you all.
Now the question is Kisame, cuz he’s Itachi’s teammate obv. Travelling the world with this tiny kid who he watched kick someone’s ass in seconds and decides he was busy new fav person XD

opps didn't get to finish
Sasuke I think is a warlock/sorcerer multiclass Itachi would be 100% arcane trickster (spellcasting rogue that leans heavily into enchantment and illusion)
See Itachi i’d go with something more versitile. He DOES end up leaning heavily into his MS so it’s fitting for him to lean into enchantement and illusion
But skill wise he’s like Kakashi and the Sannin. Strong in every area except one (like Kakashi he’s weaknin stamina, but for very different reasons)

Who else? Tenzo is a druid
lee is obviously a way of the drunken fist monk
Hfjxjd way of the drunken fist monk
Perfection. I approve whole heartedly.
Tenzo druid seems fitting. My boy is and forever will be connected with the forest and cannot be divided from it

My proposal for other character classes for the DnD AU (you didn't really ask but you got my brain spinning) Minato screams druid to me, idk why. Could also see him as a dex based fighter. Possibly barbarian path of the storm herald but that's solely for the lightning flash motif Obito is full warlock Rin would have been a life domain cleric
Naruto a barbarian (path of the beast most likely but could also be path of the berserker) Sakura is a war cleric (ability to heal, yes, but also a front line tank/powerhouse)
See the only one i’d argue is Obito, but i could be wrong. My friend pointed out Barbarian’s are often based on rage (which makes sense for Naruto so i agree) and honestly, Obito is very based on rage for a lot of what he does
But warlock probably also works for him, and creates maybe a bit of friction between him and Kakashi (team minato is party members) because he is desperate to probe he’s better and so very annoyed when Kakashi probes better at something than him
The rest i kinda love. Minato HAS to be light on his feet and so fast it seems like he teleports (and maybe he does somehow)
Rin i love as cleric but also insist upon her skills with traps cuz i will not relegate my girl to just being one thing. We saw her with some traps and i want to expand on that so bad lol

Ohhh so many good options
I have an aversion to making my fav’s elves (they’re over used in my opinion) so i’d go with Earth Genasi. It would be cool and he could still be similar to Kakashi’s hight/built (a little more muscular, but not so much he outstrips Kakashi in muscle. I like them actually being close in size/muscle)
I’m not into DnD so i might need some help
But what do we think of Ogre Cleric (magician??? Sorcerer???) Kakashi? Being tall man who looks like he could break you in half but is actually wicked skilled in casting spells and tracking people
Not sure what group Gai should come from, but i def think he’d be the barbarian type. He’s still smart but def prefers his blunt weapons and hitting his enemy as hard as he can. Also ofc trains a LOT

Ohhh ya all of this sounds wonderful!
I think the species for Kakashi would be orc (i accidentally put ogre XD) but not sure what i’d put Gai as.
Kakashi could totally fit as elf, since he’s often light and quick on his feet, but this is me being controversial
