actually i am going to go on that tangent: as a pet dog owner with little pet dogs i actually do not mind my dogs being scared sometimes. i don't need them to be one hundred percent confident all of the time - in fact i'd rather they aren't. fear is logical and serves a function. what i do care about is how my dogs deal with that fear.
neither luna nor troja are particularly confident dogs. they both get spooked and respond with apprehension to things they haven't seen before and can't wrap their minds around (and their minds are umm limited). but their primary fear reactions are also to just? step back and seek support? so.
