My toxic trait is coming across this crochet pattern for super adorable Husk and Angel crochet plushies that require advanced crocheting skills to make and thinking that I, a person who has never crocheted anything in her life, could totally do this.

So I went out to buy supplies. (So I can put them on my never-ending pile of unfinished diy-projects.)

I mean, you can learn how to do anything from Youtube nowadays, right? How hard can it be? (Apparently very hard because I've been practicing and trying all night yesterday and so far it's not going well.)

Kaz ‘Dirtyhands’ Brekker. Bastard of The Barrel. Also- your unrequited love. Kaz had caught your eye just as he had caught everyone else’s. Everyone knew not to mess with the Dregs, and that was thanks to Kaz. Before he’d risen through the ranks of the club, the Dregs had been no one. Quite literally the dregs of society- and while, yes, that was where the name came from, it was quite the rise to fame as the Dregs started getting more and more popular, and more and more dangerous.

Even the Crow Club was starting to become a real pain in the other clubs’ asses. 

But Kaz? He’d fascinated you well before any of this. You’d been working at the Crow Club as a serving girl since before Kaz arrived. Not long, mind, but long enough before that you got to experience both sides of the Dregs’ fortune. 

Kaz hadn’t seemed to take much notice of you at first- and why would he? Weren’t you just another serving girl being groped by the drunk patrons? Anything to make a few Kruge. But he did take notice when you threatened to cut the balls off a patron when said patron got a little too handsy one day.

He’d taken you back into his office and thwacked his cane on the table hard enough to scratch the varnish and told you rather harshly to never do that again. To come to him next time there was an issue like that and he’d deal with it… discretely. 

What that had meant was clear only to Kaz, and that was fine by you. But that was when your little crush had really taken off. What could you say? You liked a bad boy. Someone who could handle his own and Kaz could definitely handle his own. Cane or no. 

Despite telling you off, Kaz had clearly taken note that you weren’t afraid to get your hands a little dirty either, something he had an appreciation and mutual respect for. And so you went from lowly serving girl to, well, still a serving girl, but a serving girl who also took jobs for Dirtyhands and worked with him to secure patronage for the club, and Kruge for his and your own pockets. And for Per Haskell’s pockets as well, you supposed. Lazy bastard. 

But you longed for more.

 

You longed for Kaz’s touch, for his lips on your skin. You longed for his affections as much as you longed for his approval. It was a dangerous combination.

As far as you could tell, he did not feel the same way. But then again, would you have ever known otherwise? Kaz kept his cards close to his chest- as he should. 

Today seemed different though. You’d barely made it back from a job and Kaz seemed… angry, to put it lightly. You had no idea why, though, considering you got what he wanted, and made it out alive, too. Win-win. 

Inej may have had to save you, but that was beside the point. 

“You need to be careful,” he said, mouth pursed angrily. “You can’t be making reckless choices and silly mistakes. This is The Barrel. I can’t afford mistakes.” 

You met his harsh gaze head-on and shoved the ledger he’d asked for into his chest with vigour. Kaz didn’t even break the gaze between you, just reached with one gloved hand to take the ledger off you. 

“I got what you wanted, didn’t I?” 

A muscle in Kaz’s jaw twinged. 

“That is not the point.” 

You let out an exasperated scoff, removing your hand from his chest with another soft shove. Surprisingly, Kaz lets the action move him. 

“Then what is the point?” You ask, frustration evident in your features. 

“The point is- oh, for Saints’ sake,” he sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “We could have lost you. I could have lost you.” 

Your eyebrows practically disappeared into your hairline. 

“You could have lost me…” you trail off, echoing his words, feeling them out for hidden meanings. 

“You’re a good investment. I don’t like to lose investments.” 

Oh. Okay. An investment. You should have known that that was all you were to him. That’s all you were ever going to be to Kaz no matter how much you wished differently. Ridiculous. 

“Of course,” you reply, turning to walk away. “Your investment needs a dri-hey!” 

Kaz’s gloved hand snatches at your forearm and yanks you back towards him. You re-balance yourself and glare at him, looking between the tight grip he has on your arm and his heated glare. 

“Stop,” he says before forcing his features to soften. “I’m not one for feelings.” He practically shudders through the word. “You’re more than that. An investment, I mean.” 

You stay quiet, not giving him anything to work with here, but you’re surprised he can’t hear the uptick in your heartbeat. 

“Look,” his grip loosens. “I don’t want to lose you. Purely selfish reasons. Not because you’re an investment, but-” Kaz clears his throat and avoids eye contact. “I care for your wellbeing.” 

It’s not an outright declaration of love, but it’s about as close to it as someone like Kaz would give. He’d bared his soul to you here. All the fractured, broken pieces of it. He’d bared his heart for you to treasure or smash into bitty little pieces. 

You sucked in a breath. 

“Are you saying you have feelings for me?” 

Kaz grunts and lets go of your arm. You brush your fingers over where he’d just touched you. 

“I suppose so, yes,” he said, eyes flitting to the door like he was thinking about making a run for it. 

“Don’t suppose it would interest you to know I felt the same way, would it?” 

And there it was. Passing the baton back to Kaz. Passing your heart in return for his. Now it was he who held the power to treasure or smash you into pieces. 

Kaz finally met your gaze, and his lips ticked up into a small smirk.

“Oh, I knew that.”

Thinking about the reactions Ace and Sabo would have to finding out Luffy’s in love with Sanji;; Honestly Ace being the overprotective one is probably more in character but it would be so fucking funny if Ace just catches Luffy staring at Sanji for a little too long and decides he’s going to be his little brother’s ultimate wingman. He’s COMMITTED and he’s going to sneakily create SO many romantic moments for Luffy to take advantage of. But Sabo,, Sabo turns out to be the overprotective one LMAO he sees Sanji smile softly at Luffy one (1) time and he’s like oh HELL no, not MY little brother. Ace tries to set them up, Sabo tries to…SABOtage them ;)))))

Even more hilarious is if this is happening at the same time. Luffy is oblivious but Sanji’s inwardly questioning what the hell is going on bc every time he THINKS there’s a romantic situation blossoming between them, absolute disaster strikes right after. Meanwhile in the background Ace and Sabo are arguing (“Stop fucking everything up you’re ruining all my plans!!” “Luffy’s far too young to have a boyfriend, are you kidding me right now?” “He’s NINETEEN Sabo get over it!!” “Not until that cook wins my approval and right now it’s not looking good for him” “ARE YOU ACTUALLY SERIOUS. Sabs do you HEAR yourself rn”)

2024 has been a breakout year for me. Got my first job, settled into a new city, met hundreds of new people IRL and online, some stuck and some left. Had my first birthday away from family. Met Shah Rukh Khan (mera dil, mera jaan, mera sab kuch). Settled into a stable relationship ideology and it's going good. Will take all that into 2025 and build on that. Will leave the depression bouts from early 2024, will leave behind some toxic people I've met over the year, will leave behind my love for gaming (probably cuz I don't get time for that honestly)

Also gonna mention a few jigar ka tukdas I've met on Tumblr, over the past year.

I feel like people often ignore or forget Sab when it comes to the npcs, and it might purely be because he doesn't enter the elevator or even have an appearance shown in game. I see so little of him, apart from an ask blog of him. There's been a total of about, 12 art pieces of him max, I think, and the last pieces of him on this platform are from February - March time. It's a shame too, because he has the whole "owl head stitched on" and all people are going to remember him or his floor for are Buck, the ticket printer and being a bit of a jerk sometimes. I really wanna see more art of the silly owl headed unpaid intern...

My latest obsession with Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss has motivated me enough to pick up a pencil again and try my hand at drawing fanart for a hot minute.

This was my attempt at freehand copying from screenshots. I didn't really like the result. Then I decided to turn my pencil sketch into line-art on my old iPad. Now I think it's halfway decent.

I probably won't turn into an artist anytime soon though. 😅

Little rant and probably a controversial opinion, please don't burn me at the stake for that If i asked you to guess how many dazai anon accounts have i blocked here till now, what number would u think of? Bc i just checked - i currently have 9 of their accounts blocked. 2 from this week alone. And it's not like i go around hunting for them. I just randomly open tumblr to check what silly things did ppl say about my art, and then i see 50 different reblogs, comments or asks from dazai anon alone, being no longer only mean to Chuuya or skk, but bashing my art or telling me to off myself!!! Yay!! And u know, it wasn't a problem in the beginning. The stuff they write is comedic with how stupid it is. I could also interact with em smh (ngl, they left me for a good while after i drew them and chuuya making out that one time). And as i said, before they didn't attack me personally. But then i started getting comments that i shouldn't interact with dazai anon bc something something they're mentally unstable? Like im sorry, but how is this my problem. They come to me and regularly tell me to hurt myself, but i can't even reply to them bc "sab, it's no use, they're sick smth smth smth, just block them"?? Like bruh aight, it's just that sitting silently actually starts to affect me. Bc no matter how many accounts i block, they come back with a new one the moment they realize they're blocked. And the whole carousel of "block, dont interact" starts again. I just think it's not really alright to tell ppl that they can't in any way stand up for themselves? Why do i have to care about personal wellbeing or a sad backstory of someone who doesn't respect mine? Why should i even know about their problems? They're a complete stranger to me and i don't really go around reading random people's biographies on the internet. Like aughhh it's seriously starting to annoy me now,,,, i'm not saying ppl ACCEPT what dazai anon does, but using the excuse that they're not okay mentally just doesn't sit right with me, idk. Mental health problems should never be an excuse for hurting others, imo.

Actually annoyed by how much ''artist protection'' censorship is done on TXT (and other groups too but it's a lot for TXT) when it comes to them making 'less than attractive' expressions when they're just goofing around and being playful.

Like god forbid your idol be perceived as human enjoying themselves and their friends doing fun and funny things together which might include a silly goofy face that isn't hot or cute...weirdo shit.

I love that Estelle prefers more classical ballet over Balanchine. Its a great allegory for their different canon life paths with Stella being mortal and Percy not. So having having them go different ways in TUAP seems perfect. And as someone trained in Balanchine and then moved for college and is now at a Vaganova studio (don't recommend) I can imagine the hilarity/confusion of her knowing Balanchine because the 2 worlds can be very different and ppl are confused when you have knowledge of both

going from Balanchine to Vaganova seems insane, and props for you for doing it.

Thanks! Mostly, I just didn't want her to be able to have her own career apart from Percy. She loves her brother, but she deserves to chart her own path as well.

For those not in the know, because I don't think I've actually explained this in the story, Balanchine isn't just a choreographer, he developed his own aesthetic of ballet technique, which is why companies like NYCB and Miami are known as "Balanchine companies." It's not just that they do his ballets (any company can get the rights to perform one of his ballets and many do), it's that they do his technique, even when they do something classical like Sleeping Beauty. The way they move their arms, hold their hands, spot their turns, and prepare for pirouettes is all different, and those are only some of the differences. There are so many different ballet aesthetics, including the more classical Western European style and the Russian Vaganova style.

So when Estelle decides she doens't want to do Balanchine, it's not that she doesn't want to do his ballets, as much as it is she doesn't want to dance in that style, to perform that aesthetic of dance. (I hope I'm explaining that correctly. I am but a simple fan and armature hobbist. Dancers, feel free to correct me or elaborate).

Additionally -- I don't know if I've shared this in the story, or if it's just something I've said on tumblr, but Mr. Lester was in NYCB and trained at SAB before charting out on his own to be a freelance dancer and teacher. But his school teaches a more classical style as the norm. So not only does Estelle constantly need to mentally switch between watching her brother do the Balanchine style to being in class and needing to do a more classical style, Lester is also constantly making the switch in his brain.

Personally, in real life, my ballet teacher is also former NYCB but is teaching at a studio that does a more classical style. I just do adult beginner/intermediate, so the studio isn't rigid about what style we choose to do, but this also means that any time someone asks how we should move the arms, or do a certain step, our teacher is like "Well, I was trained to do xyz, but you could also do zyx." And sometimes we have former Vaganova dancers in class as well, who are like "the Russians do abc." The conclusion is always: "so any of those are correct!" (And then I squirrel all these conversations away in the corners of my mind to use in my silly little fanfictions)
