Oh I've read mdzs too!! Actually watched the donghua, live action and read the manhua too,,, but i don't really vibe with it, especially after the last chapters/extras (i couldn't even get thru these 💀💀)

So in short imo it's cool but at some points the main relationship becomes so uncomfortable for me as a reader that i just stay away from it 😭😭🙏

Hi there! I can see that your blog shares Heavens Officials Blessings content, so I wanted to ask you a question.

I am trying to decide whether or not to try and read the books. I just finished the animated series, but I honestly found it really confusing at times. Is the book less confusing? Or do you think if I found the animated series confusing, I’ll also find the book confusing?

Sorry if it’s a stupid question. I just figured asking fans of the story for their honest opinion would be best.

OH YES LET ME TALK!! I've watched the donghua back in 2021 and i also felt a bit confused about stuff. But i decided to read the novel right after and yup - it does clear things up! It's a very long series, so i feel like the more important things r explained pretty well in the novel 🙏🙏 After that Ive reread it like 5 times (currently on my 6th one after years) bc i love the characters and their development sm! I really recommend it (tho there r scenes that could make people uncomfortable) (personally i just try not to think too much about the very few things i dislike and continue with all the nice ones) (it's that one series where i will fight the author if i must) If you have any more questions or would me like to explain something from the donghua (animated series) myself then I will gladly answer these!! Because I've been thinking about it and trying to frame it in a canonical context because no way Chuuya was standing up on his kitchen table dancing with his bottle of fancy wine and I don't think smug satisfaction was it either.

Because the things Dazai and Chuuya hate the most about the other are both their opposites traits and their shared weaknesses.

Because in SB, Chuuya told Murase to not bother saving him, but in his grief, the first thing he said was "I thought you were gonna show me the light...!"

Because Murase dying meant Chuuya lost the one person trying to convince him there was a life for him in the light, while Oda dying was the moment Dazai was convinced to live in the light.

Because the SB epilogue seems to be implied happening some time after Dazai has left and that's when Chuuya speaks his belief in the Port Mafia being his family and where he belongs.

Because Chuuya has always been about making the best out of what you're given while Dazai has been actively choosing and discarding life paths in search of something more.

Because I believe Chuuya has some level of envy for Dazai setting out to change his life instead of waiting for it to happen to him, while still hating him for giving up on the people who have had his back this entire time (never mind that he was back-stabbed, as if such things ever did anything to Chuuya's loyalty).
