Sān is the youngest child of Jie. His parents claim that he could wield the sword before he learned how to read or write. Despite his dangerous appearance, Sān is actually a very kind man though he’s ruthless to his enemies.
Full Name: Sān Huang

Species: Fox demon (four-tailed)
Gender: male
Affiliation(s): no info
Occupation(s): Captain of Red Claw Warriors

Place of birth: Red Fang Mountain
Age: 1000+
Home: Fox Kingdom
Likes: cute animals, talking with people, fighting/sparing
Dislikes: not fair fights, bugs, cowardice
Family:
Jie- mother
Zen- father
Yī and Èr- siblings
DFK- grandfather
Friends/Allies: no info
Enemies: no info
Status: alive
Abilities: no info
Personality: Sān is a honest person with a good heart, he’s got a strong sense of justice and cares deeply about his family and friends. He’s not too bright when it comes to things other than battle and can be a little naive but he’s one to easily gain others trust. Also the boy is an ideal warrior when it comes to his strength and brave spirit.
History: Sān was born as third child of Jie and Zen. From a very young age he showed great strength though not much of talent when it came to energy manipulation. At first Jie wanted him to grow up to be a well educated person but seeing how her son learned swordsmanship by himself before he was even able to write she gave up and left him under a great warrior’s (also her good friend) care. This way Sān grown up to be an amazing warrior and great leader. After Jie accident Sān became a new general of the kingdom’s army but he chose to give all the authority to his father-the new king. Still he created a secret group called Red Claw Warriors, which is known as the Fox Kingdom’s secret weapon. Since that time the young warrior wasn’t seen often but there has been rare moments when he would come to the palace to his father in order to talk about military forces or just to see each other as a family,
Relationships with canon characters (opinions):
No info
Relationships with my ocs (opinions):
Jie- Sān definitely shows more affection towards his mother than his siblings. He loves her deeply and was hurt upon seeing her suffer but currently he believes that Jie is doing better than she was in kingdom, he knows that she is strong enough to fight her trauma.
Zen- Sān shows a lot of love and respect towards his father, he supports him as much as he can knowing how much Zen misses his wife.
Yī- Sān thinks highly of his sister, knowing how much she can do despite her little posture. Thought he hopes that one day she would return to her true self.
Èr- To Sān, his older brother was and still is an impressive person who is as free as wind. He knows that in Èr’s eyes he is still a naive kid but it doesn’t mind that.
Trivia:
- Sān is very shy before any women he finds pretty (so practically all of them)
- He loves cute cute animals but because of his dangerous aura it’s an one sided feeling
- He isn’t aware of that but Sān actually has his own fan club between his warriors
- Can use every type of weapon and is good in combat
- You can say that Sān inherited his mother energetic personality before she matured due to the trauma

[Hanfu · 漢服]Chinese Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD) Traditional Clothing Hanfu & Lantern Festival 元宵節
【About Lantern Festival/ Shangyuan Festival (元宵節/上元節)
Today is The Lantern Festival also called Shangyuan Festival (上元節), is a Chinese traditional festival celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunisolar Chinese calendar, during the full moon. Usually falling in February or early March on the Gregorian calendar, it marks the final day of the traditional Chinese New Year celebrations. As early as the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC–AD 25), it had become a festival with great significance.
During the Lantern Festival, children go out at night carrying paper lanterns and solve riddles on the lanterns (猜燈謎). In ancient times, the lanterns were fairly simple, and only the emperor and noblemen had large ornate ones.As below Ming Dynasty court paintings【明宪宗元宵行乐图 】:
It depicts the lively scenes of watching lanterns, watching operas and setting off firecrackers in the inner court on the Lantern Festival in the 21st year of Chenghua (1485).Among them we can see a lot of large ornate lanterns in this painting
At the same time, we can also see the children in the palace carrying lanterns of various shapes
The painting is very long, and it is a custom painting reflecting the celebration of the Lantern Festival in the court of the Ming Dynasty.
【Customs of Lantern Festival in Ming and Qing Dynasties: 走百病 】
Also known as "游百病You Baibing", "散百病San Baibing", etc., it is a traditional folk culture in the north china since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Some of them are held on the Lantern Festival, but most of them are held on the next day of the Lantern Festival.
On this day, women dressed in formal costumes, walked out of the house in groups, crossed bridges, climbed the tower over a city gate, and touch the nails on the city gate to pray for hopes of good health and longevity until midnight before going back home. Besides, touch the nails on the city gate it also pray for having child(摸钉求子)."Nail钉" are same pronunciation as Ding丁,It can be associated with the word "人丁Ren Ding": a Chinese word that originally refers to an adult man and later refers to the population.Basically, it is to pray for to have more and more family members in the future(child).
【Customs of Lantern Festival in Ming and Qing Dynasties: 戴闹蛾 】
The so-called“ 闹蛾 Nào é ”is a kind of headgear worn by women in ancient China, with silk or black gold paper in the shape of flowers or insects. It has been popular from Song Dynasty to Qing Dynasty. From some unearthed hair accessories in Ming Dynasty, we can also see a lot of insect-themed hair accessories, such as: 1. 玉叶金蟾头饰,Ming Dynasty:
2. 金镶宝石蜘蛛簪,Ming Dynasty,Collection of Nanjing Museum
3.垒丝镶红蓝宝石蝴蝶形金步摇,Ming Dynasty,Collection of GuamfuMuseum
In addition, eating glutinous rice balls 汤圆 during the Lantern Festival is also a traditional customs in china, the practice and filling of glutinous rice balls in different regions may also be different.

𝘼/𝙉 This is a warmup I made when I needed to take a pause from my jjk projects! Also deciding to post this while I wait for my poll to end!౨ৎ ˖ ࣪⊹
YOU’VE only met Xiè Lián a month ago, but he is a humble man, perhaps the most humble man you’ve ever met in your years of living.
And despite only knowing him for such a little amount of time, there’s this huge sense of familiarity whenever you’re together.
He’s so kind, too kind almost, and submissive, but not in a completely bad way. It just seems that he’s too willing to let others walk all over him sometimes.
But you don’t regret befriending him. He’s as sweet as can be and your wonderful savior, his only want when you asked how you can repay him is your e̶t̶e̶r̶n̶a̶l̶ friendship.
You two were lonely souls wondering the earth so it’s natural that you remained at each other’s sides, helping him collect scraps.
While staying with him, you’ve noticed the ferret’s need for physical touch and aggressive play, which you grant because how could you not? You owe him a lot and you’re touch starved yourself.
B̶u̶t̶ ̶s̶o̶m̶e̶t̶i̶m̶e̶s̶ ̶p̶l̶a̶y̶ ̶g̶e̶t̶s̶ ̶a̶ ̶b̶i̶t̶ ̶t̶o̶o̶ ̶a̶g̶g̶r̶e̶s̶s̶i̶v̶e̶,̶ ̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶b̶i̶t̶e̶s̶ ̶d̶r̶a̶w̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶b̶l̶o̶o̶d̶,̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶X̶i̶è̶ ̶L̶i̶á̶n̶ ̶h̶a̶p̶p̶i̶l̶y̶ ̶l̶i̶c̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶i̶t̶ ̶d̶o̶w̶n̶.̶
But it’s okay! That’s just his nature!
There was one time he had to disappear for a moment, stating that it’s just some business to help innocent people from a ghost problem and left you at an inn for the time being.
You missed him,b̶u̶t̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶c̶a̶n̶’̶t̶ ̶d̶e̶n̶y̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶e̶n̶j̶o̶y̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶s̶p̶a̶c̶e̶.̶ ̶
But he soon came back and you two now had a place to live at for once! It’s a shabby shrine, but both of you put your care and hard work to make it a home.
The bed is a simple straw mat on the hard floor but the comfort of each other’s arms and warmth make up for it!
B̶u̶t̶ ̶s̶o̶m̶e̶t̶i̶m̶e̶s̶ ̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶h̶u̶g̶s̶ ̶a̶r̶e̶ ̶a̶ ̶b̶i̶t̶ ̶t̶o̶o̶ ̶t̶i̶g̶h̶t̶,̶ ̶t̶o̶o̶ ̶p̶o̶s̶s̶e̶s̶s̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶a̶l̶m̶o̶s̶t̶.̶ ̶
Sleeping together is a joy though!
And things get more interesting when a lone fox joins the mix.
His name is Sān Láng, and Xiè Lián had brought him over one night and offered your collective space to him since he had no place to go.
He’s a charming young man with a mysterious aura, giving answers but becomes a bit elusive when it’s direct questions about him. He’s far more interested in getting to know you and Xiè Lián though, wanting the both of you to lay yourselves bare to him.
But he quickly becomes close to you both, and you become aware that he’s just as clingy as the ferret.
The bed situation is even more cramped, but as long as you were all touching all was fine!
S̶o̶m̶e̶t̶i̶m̶e̶s̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶s̶w̶e̶a̶r̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶’̶r̶e̶ ̶b̶e̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶w̶a̶t̶c̶h̶e̶d̶ ̶w̶h̶e̶n̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶’̶v̶e̶ ̶y̶e̶t̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶f̶a̶l̶l̶ ̶i̶n̶t̶o̶ ̶s̶l̶e̶e̶p̶s̶ ̶e̶m̶b̶r̶a̶c̶e̶,̶ ̶X̶i̶è̶ ̶L̶i̶á̶n̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶S̶ā̶n̶ ̶L̶á̶n̶g̶’̶s̶ ̶b̶r̶e̶a̶t̶h̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶s̶u̶f̶f̶o̶c̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶,̶ ̶i̶m̶p̶r̶i̶n̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶o̶n̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶s̶k̶i̶n̶.̶
Sān Láng likes to watch you and Xiè Lián, especially when you’re playing, but he never gets in the mix until he’s invited, and you can see the pure delight in his eyes when asked.
But you almost always end up on your back, overpowered and vulnerable to them both.
L̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶p̶r̶o̶p̶e̶r̶ ̶p̶r̶e̶y̶.̶
But unfortunately, things get weird when Nán Fēng, a dog, and Fú Yáo, a cat, show up at the door.
The way those two grow so pale when they look at you…
And how tight Xiè Lián holds your shoulders…
How Sān Láng’s voice gets unusually more sharper…
There’s more to what’s going on.

Seventeen as Chinese Idioms 🥢 :
Scoups: Love the house with its crows (ài wū jí wū) Meaning: Loving people as they are/ with their flaws Scoups is the epitome of fully and utterly loving someone. Flaws? Weaknesses? Those are what makes you who you are. If those were 'fixed' you would not be the same person to him.
Jeonghan: The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind (tángláng bǔ chán, huángquè zài hòu) Meaning: Not realizing the hidden danger when focusing on small gains Jeonghan is someone who looks at the big picture in any situation. He is always ready to threaten, cajole, plead, adapt, compromise, etc. to achieve his goal. Here, he is the oriole or the hidden danger. He waits till only one move will ensure his victory.
Joshua: When the sandpiper and the clam fight each other, it’s the fisherman who benefits (yù bàng xiāngzhēng, yúwēng dé lì) Meaning: To take advantage of a situation/conflict Joshua works harder and smarter. Why bother to get into a troublesome situation when he is going to win either way? He values his peace way too much. If you watched nana tour, you would see that both him and Jeonghan wanted to destroy Mingyu's meringue but when Jeonghan splashed a tub of water on Mingyu, Joshua just ran away :3 He is not getting into a fight, thank you very much.
Jun: A crane in a flock of chickens (hè lì jī qún) Meaning: An astounding person in a room full of mediocre ones Three words can explain this idiom perfectly: Jun's stage presence. Even if we forget everything else, his stage presence is out of this world. Carats are so lucky that Jun chose to debut in Seventeen instead of becoming a full-time actor.
Hoshi: A lion uses its full strength even when hunting a rabbit (shīzi bǔ tù, yì yòng quánlì) Meaning: Giving your best effort in everything Hoshi gives 200 percent energy in everything. Dance practice? Stage performance? Going seventeen episode? Some random skit? Tiktok challenges? He never underestimates anything related to his career as an idol and he even gives his all into having fun. He is one of a kind.
Wonwoo: Those who eat with one chopstick will stay hungry (yòng yīgè kuàizi chīfàn de rén shì è de) Meaning: Finding balance in life It's one of my favourite Chinese sayings. Food is meant to be eaten with two chopsticks and life is meant to be lived in a measured way. Nothing too extreme or too unbalanced. And Wonwoo is someone who understands how to balance his public life and private life. He surrounds himself with lots of hobbies and yet no one will catch him slacking when it comes to his career.
Woozi: Having love, drinking water will fill you up, without love, eating food will leave you hungry (yǒuqíng yǐnshuǐ bǎo, wúqíng shí fàn jī) Meaning: Love makes everything bearable Jihoon has so much love to give and it shows when he looks at his members and in his songs. He is the epitome of sharing hardship and happiness together. He is not afraid to work from the bottom if it is for someone/something he loves.
Dokyeom: Freezing into three feet depth can’t be done in one day (bīngdòng sān chǐ, fēi yī rì zhī hán) Meaning: Taking things step by step/ Rome was not built in a day If this idiom doesn't describe Dokyeom, I don't know who else it does. He has been constantly taking vocal lessons for more than ten years. He practices his vocal exercises everyday. Dokyeom does not give up nor does he rush. He improves at his own pace.
Mingyu: Fall in the moat and you’ll be wiser next time (chī yī qiàn , cháng yī zhì) Meaning: When one makes a mistake, one knows what to avoid Here, I was leaning more into how Mingyu wants to experience everything even once. Maybe some of them were bad experiences or maybe in hindsight he realized that some of them were mistakes. But I don't think he still regrets anything though. He lives in the moment.
Minghao: Cherish a broom as if it was gold (jiā yǒu bì zhǒu, xiǎng zhī qiānjīn) Meaning: Appreciating small things in life Minghao's mindset of finding joy in small things is one of my favourite things about him. His aura screams contentment and mindfulness. I truly believe that he, literally, cherishes his broom/vacuum as if it was gold.
Seungkwan: Three parts fate, seven parts hard work.” (sān fēn tiān zhù dìng, qī fēn kào dǎ pīn) Meaning: While destiny is written, it still depends on you Everyone knows how hard Seungkwan promoted Seventeen when they were rookies. He is the personification of hard work. Fate has nothing on him. He would fistfight it if he could.
Vernon: Pretending to be a Pig to eat a Tiger (bàn zhū chī lǎohǔ) Meaning: Hiding one's real strength Most of the time Vernon trends for being funny or for 'Vernon-ing' but not for his skills or talents. I am not saying people don't appreciate him or that he is actively hiding himself. It's just he is not known for them. He writes, produces, sings and his rap flow is so unique. He was almost in the performance unit!! Man is so underrated, I swear.
Chan: Crouching Tigers, Hidden Dragons (wòhǔ cáng lóng) Meaning: Talented people hiding from view Chan has a Santa alter ago and his magic bag is hiding all the skills Chan has. Cause what do you mean he can act, sing, dance, rap, be a professional comedian AND play the piano. He is chronically offline because his real life goal is to be the best in everything!! Every new thing I learn sends a shock to my system.
#merry christmas!!#also i dont speak mandarin#but i HAVE read lots of webnovels so i am used to most proverbs and idioms#dont ask me which webnovels i read bc i am taking that secret to the grave!!#seventeen#svt#seventeen imagines#seventeen drabbles#seventeen fanfic#seventeen scenarios#seventeen fluff#seventeen reactions#scoups#jeonghan#joshua#jun#hoshi#wonwoo#woozi#dokyeom#mingyu#minghao#the8#seungkwan#vernon#dino#chan#writings of tie-dye

今天的成语 An Idiom I Learned Today
recently learned about a new idiom and thought i would share! not sure if it counts as a 成语 per se, since it is 8 characters instead of 4. nonetheless here it is.
三天打鱼,两天晒网 sān tiān dǎ yú, liǎng tiān shài wǎng
literally: fish for 3 days, sun-dry the net for 2 days figuratively: to lack perseverance; to not earnestly work toward something
example: 你要是三天打鱼两天晒网,那你永远不会进步。 If you "fish for 3 days but sun-dry the next for 2," then you won't ever improve.
it's the idea that if you work towards something for 3 days but then rest for 2, you're basically wasting your time and not putting in as much effort as you could—since you could be putting that effort in all 5 days.
it's definitely a very chinese concept 😅 i'm pro resting myself LOL

tell me about that funny dnd boy mr walkman - @pigeonwit
YAY !! thankyouthankyou pidge i love my silly dnd lad
Sān's a warlock (mechanically great old one) with the interdimensional, non-euclidean shop she grew up in. The shop has doors everywhere and it's inside is labyrinthine and perpetually shifting around and even though it's technically just a bunch of real strong spells it's also sentient (in a "the house is alive" kinda way). (Everyone says that it's a TARDIS and I haven't been able to live it down yet).
The shop also causes anyone who resides in it for a prolonged period of time to join it's hivemind (it's lonely), which Sān has been apart of since they've had a consciousness. He's not the best at telling apart his emotions and thoughts from the many other beings in his head (including an owlbear), but doesn't really mind being part of a collective.
Because of all this, he doesn't really understand the concept of privacy. He regularly asks the people he meets personal (and somewhat tactless) questions (one of the first things Sān did in the campaign was ask a random fisherman why his family left him), and every time he speaks to someone it's always in far too much detail and with too many personal aspects.
A couple sessions in, she caused her best friend William (a water genasi druid whose catchphrase is "hoorah! i'm an adventurer!!") to join the hivemind. It was mostly consensual and William doesn't mind or care so there have been no consequences of this so far (other than an exacerbation of each other's adhd and even more codependency between the two of them). Sān and William also have a pact to avenge each other's deaths (which might not be possible considering how we stick close to each other in battle and have had the same amount of hp until now). We made this pact so Sān can lie (because they couldn't for a while but they did have +7 on persuasion).
Oh! and the Weave's been compromised so the shop and hivemind might be compromised, and Sān is not ready to have a completely quiet mind (he's starting to question his ideas of personhood and it's a Time ).
Sān's childish and impulsive and once walked off in a huff in the middle of combat but he's also got a higher intelligence than charisma (which is silly because he's a warlock). He's searching for Uncle (his guardian), who left the shop and hasn't been seen or heard from since, and collecting trinkets and faces along the way.
Oh, yeah– Sān's one of the masks of a changeling called Xiǎoguǐ (it/they). Xiǎoguǐ created Sān as a persona to appear more human and personable and friendly, because even though it's very similar to Sān, it's a lot weirder– it has an unblinking stare and elongated limbs and doesn't smile very much and has the vibes of something that has bones in places where there should not be bones. None of the party knows about Xiǎoguǐ yet (half of them think Sān's a mindflayer in disguise), and i'm really excited for the fallout when it's revealed and also really excited to play as them wbwbw !
So yeah! that's my weird little guy wbwbw (as much as I remember at the moment)! It's real neat wbwbw

【About the Hairstyle 鬃髻(Zōng jì)】
The 鬃髻(Zōng jì) is one of the traditional Han ethnic woman hairstyles. It lasted from the Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty, and it still exists among Hakka(客家) elderly women.
We can see this hairstyle in the painting "《李端端图》" by Tang Yin(唐寅), a painter of the Ming Dynasty.Collection of Nanjing Museum
The 鬃髻(Zōng jì) can be matched with other hairstyles, like below:
Peony Head (牡丹头)+鬃髻(Zōng jì),
Ming Dynasty Green-glazed female pottery figurines,Collection of Guangdong Museum
Ming Dynasty Colored Sculpture of Jellyfish Building in Jinci Temple/晋祠水母楼明代彩塑
Qing Dynasty 鬃髻(Zōng jì),Qing Dynasty figurines
The Hakka(客家) ’s 鬃髻(Zōng jì) is divided into: 三把头(Sān bǎtóu) and 两把头 Liǎng bǎtóu)
For the most typical 三把头(Sān bǎtóu) , it divides the hair into three layers: upper, middle and lower. The part of the hair from the front of the forehead to the top of the head is called "门股(Mn gǔ)", and 门股 is divided into three parts: left, middle and right.Generally, some wigs are placed on the hair or combed the hair in reverse way to make it look fluffy. So from the front, it will have a very “full” effect of hair.
The 三把头(Sān bǎtóu) with 鬃髻(Zōng jì) of Hakka women in old photos
The part below the 三把头 (Sān bǎtóu) is generally called "髻尾". The upper, middle and lower parts of the hair will eventually tied together.
↓Schematic diagram in the book "Discussion on Liudui Hakka Traditional Clothing《六堆客家传统衣饰的探讨》"
Hakka(客家) ’s 鬃髻(Zōng jì) :两把头 (Liǎng bǎtóu)
The :两把头 Liǎng bǎtóu) is the 三把头 (Sān bǎtóu) that simplifies the part of the "髻尾(The lower part)" , and divides the hair into two part, which is "门股(Mén gǔ)" and the "髻尾(The lower part). ※Some information says that 两把头 (Liǎng bǎtóu) are unmarried woman hairstyle and 三把头 (Sān bǎtóu) are married woman hairstyle, but this is not the case when looking at the photos
Lastly,Twho are familiar with Japanese culture may notice that above hairstyles are look similar to some hairstyles in Japan call 島田髷.But the method of divide the hair into sections, the way that make the sideburns and the shape after tied the hair together make it to a difference effect from china.
According 日本大百科全書(ニッポニカ),Japan's 島田髷 hairstyle is beginning from the 16th century of Edo period, while the China is also on late Ming period(※usually refers to from the beginning of Wanli (1573) to the end of Chongzhen (1644)).
Not sure if there is a connection between the japan and china. I will update if there is more information.
(Please correct me if I'm wrong🙏)

Family:
Jie- mother
Zen- father

Status: alive
Abilities:
Teleportation
Same as her mother, Yī is able to teleport. When she does it it looks as if she was disappearing in blue flames.
?
Personality:
Yī’s personality resembles her mother’s a lot. Yī is calm and quiet person who prefers peaceful places. All of that is in fact only a facade. Yī acts like the next ruler should behave but the truth is she tends to be impulsive and stubborn but only her family knows about it.
The young demoness avoids talking about her mother because it makes her emotional, she sometimes might say something bad about Jie but there is no person in palace that doubts Yī’s love and admiration towards her mother. For example, whenever someone praises her by saying that she took something after her mother Yī is blushing a little and her tail is wagging gently.
As the rumours states Yī is really clever because she prepares herself for the role of Queen.
History:
Yī was born as the first child of Jie and Zen. In her childhood she was an energetic and cheerful kid who admired her mother a little too much. After the incident Yī was too afraid to actually confront her mother which in the future became the main source of her guilt. After Jie left the kingdom Yī decided to grow up in order to replace her as a ruler thinking that this is the only thing she can still do for her family.
Relationships with canon characters (opinions):
No info
Relationships with my ocs (opinions):
Jie
Yī acts like she despises Jie but in reality she still loves her and is feeling just guilty for not being able to help her when she needed it.
Zen
Zen tries to support Yī and prevent her from losing her true self but as for now Yī refuses his help.
Èr
The relationship between those two is pretty fierce. Yī always thought of him as the rival for the role of successor. In childhood they fought a lot which actually made Yī even more determined to be better than her brother in the only discipline she could win with him- knowledge. When Yī was in her twenties Èr announced that he never even wanted to take away her position which made her really angry. But she actually appreciates it because if it wasn’t for him Yī would never accomplish this much.
Sān
Yī was always trying to act like a mature sister to him, even though they aren’t spending much time together anymore their bond is still pretty strong.
Trivia:
- when using powers, Yī’s eyes turn blue
- She secretly enjoys reading fairytales and legends
- Yī is pretty bad in communication, because of that she doesn’t have any friends
- Her name means ‘one’ in Chinese. Jie named her like that because she was born in the first day of march
- When she was little, Yī had a mayor crush in one of her mother’s friends
- Her biggest complex is her height. Despite being the oldest child, she's smaller than both of her brothers.
