YOU’VE only met Xiè Lián a month ago, but he is a humble man, perhaps the most humble man you’ve ever met in your years of living.

And despite only knowing him for such a little amount of time, there’s this huge sense of familiarity whenever you’re together.

But you don’t regret befriending him. He’s as sweet as can be and your wonderful savior, his only want when you asked how you can repay him is your e̶t̶e̶r̶n̶a̶l̶ friendship.

You two were lonely souls wondering the earth so it’s natural that you remained at each other’s sides, helping him collect scraps.

While staying with him, you’ve noticed the ferret’s need for physical touch and aggressive play, which you grant because how could you not? You owe him a lot and you’re touch starved yourself.

There was one time he had to disappear for a moment, stating that it’s just some business to help innocent people from a ghost problem and left you at an inn for the time being.

But he soon came back and you two now had a place to live at for once! It’s a shabby shrine, but both of you put your care and hard work to make it a home.

The bed is a simple straw mat on the hard floor but the comfort of each other’s arms and warmth make up for it!

He’s a charming young man with a mysterious aura, giving answers but becomes a bit elusive when it’s direct questions about him. He’s far more interested in getting to know you and Xiè Lián though, wanting the both of you to lay yourselves bare to him.

But he quickly becomes close to you both, and you become aware that he’s just as clingy as the ferret.

The bed situation is even more cramped, but as long as you were all touching all was fine!

Sān Láng likes to watch you and Xiè Lián, especially when you’re playing, but he never gets in the mix until he’s invited, and you can see the pure delight in his eyes when asked.

But you almost always end up on your back, overpowered and vulnerable to them both.

Getting Jealous of a Cat

You two are almost inseparable, together all the time

What this means is he takes up 99% of your attention, the other 1% being your own survival

So the rare time you were away from Hua Cheng, you found yourself bored

And what better to do with your free time then roam the village at night?

However, you didn't expect to find a stray, and it looked so helpless, you couldn't leave it on its own!

So the rest of the night was spent looking for items to care for your new friend

When getting back to Hua Cheng and your shared home, he looked relieved, until he saw what you had

"Whatcha got there?" He would ask you

"This is our new son!" You enthusiastically reply

The next few days you spent babying the feline, your beloved was not happy

For several days he tries to get your attention

Pick up lines, gentle touches, he's obviously become more clingy

"Come on! I'm sure he's got an owner worried about him. Just drop him back off at the village." He argues, trying to get your attention

"And risk leaving him as a stray again? Never!" You fight back

It was after a month he convinced you that the cat would function better with humans than with ghosts

So it wasn't surprising when he brought home a cat that clearly needed help

At first Hua Cheng admired Xie Lian silently, worshipping the man for being so kind to everything that he can help

However, that all stopped when Hua Cheng noticed the cat was taking all the attention

Xie Lian should have eyes for him only!! Not some stray that could survive on its own now that its taken care of!

After this realization, Hua Cheng subtly hinted that the cat should be let go

Saying things like. "I'm sure he's had enough of us." And, "You know how free these guys are."

Xie Lian didn't listen though, insisting the cat should stay just a bit longer

Hua Cheng knew he couldn't convince Xie Lian, so one day while the latter was out, he set the cat free and never said a word

"What happened to the cat? Did you see where he went?" Xie Lian asks

"Not a clue, must've been sleeping while he snuck out." Hua Cheng replies

Xie Lian knew, he saw the cat in the village that same day it was set free but never said a thing

“can’t you see?” closing the lid of the container, you stood up from your seat and headed over to the sink, leaving your sassy man of a boyfriend on the dining table. a small part of you feels a little embarrassed being caught by mu qing of all people who knows his ways of cooking and cleaning.

“next time, just ask if you want sweets. i’ll make you one.” mu qing snatched the container and you watched him put it back in its place then he turned to you with crossed arms against his chest, frowning at your expression. his face eases as he pats your head affectionately. he wants to scold you but with that cute face you’re making…mu qing stopped himself.

the next day, you are beaming in glee, seeing a beautiful uirō inside the fridge. subtle sweet, chewy dessert with fruits providing nutrition at the same enjoying the sugar. you chuckled as the idea of such a choice of dessert is a mu qing’s move. speaking of, you certainly need to thank the idiot and as you do so, tackling his figure on the couch, you pressed a kiss on his cheeks which had turned red from your touch.

“what, what, what???”

“that’s for the uirō,” you cupped his blush-painted face and stole a kiss on his lips. defenseless against your loving attacks, mu qing’s skin is now bright red, letting you shower him with kisses.

“it’s nothing really…” he muttered, a proud look casting his warm face.

( I have to be honest I don't know a whole bunch about prosthetics so I had to look up a few things, and if I got anything wrong please let me know so I can keep it in mind for the next time I might get a request like this. )

- I personally believe Hua Cheng has seen a lot of prosthetic limbs before, since in the Gamblers Den people tend to offer up their limbs and they may get prosthetics to replace them? (sometimes???)

- Xie Lian I think would be a bit different. He has been involved in a few wars during his 800 years (that I know of..), but I don't think he would've seen that many prosthetics.

- You were a bit uncomfortable with your prosthetic hands, since to you it felt "weird" to not have normal hands (anymore, or maybe you were unfortunately born with out hands? i'll let you decide).

- Xie Lian likes to play around with your prosthetic hands whenever he's bored, because they kind of interest him a bit because I imagine he's never been able to touch or mess around with a prosthetic before.

- Hua Cheng doesn't really mess around with your prosthetics unlike Xie Lian, but I think he would offer to add some changes to your prosthetics or make them better (he would also clean them and make sure they're in good condition for you).

- They both definitely try to make you feel better about having prosthetics- they'll comfort you about it and may make a little joke or two if it helps you feel better.

- Both of them are just amazing to have by your side <3

'This should be easy right?' A thought arises in your head, moving towards a far position from the target. Cocky sure, but how hard can it possibly be.

You have no prior experience on archery before, but you have been ogling studying at a certain someone.... Cause you knew somehow it would come to this, You practicing it yourself.

"Why are you just standing there? Come on I wanna see your amazing skills already, surely you weren't bluffing just a while ago..."

You slap yourself in the cheek, trying to stop your line of thought that's making you panic even more now. Gripping onto your basket you're walking even faster, as the forest is now engulfed in darkness.

The hair on your nape rises, goosebumps rippling on your skin at the cold. No more sun to provide you with warmth.

Only the cold moon, along side with the cold air working against you now. Making the leaves rustle, making it sound like something is trampling on it-

You freeze in your tracks, An ominous presence clouds your senses.

Bolting with out a second thought, you mutter curses under your breath. Fight or flight instincts kicking in, well just flight instincts. You don't know how to fight ghosts, just humans, surely an uppercut won't work on ghosts right?-

You debate on what to do, should you scream for help? there should be people near right? your village has to be! You try to think of a suitable plan in your head, though the adrenaline makes your mind run a bit too fast,

...You can feel it's gaze on the tip of your spine, like it's getting closer and reaching for you-

Your survival instincts kick in as your leg drops, making you kneel. Horrifyingly sharp claws just above your form, Where your face was just at. Retracting it's claws, it covers itself with a thick fog, blending onto the trees again, waiting for a perfect time to strike.

You celebrate in your mind for a bit, letting out a galore of curses at the ghost. Taking a bit of Feng Xin's dialect in fear. But you quickly stand up to run again, now letting out a cracked yell of help, throat dry in fear.

By a miracle you could see the end of the forest, and a path like the one leading to the village. You could almost scream in joy, and that you did, along with a few pleas for help.

Yearning to touch the moonlight on the clearing, you reach your hand out. Commotion could be heard nearby, and freedom at the tip of your finger tips.

Your joy was short lived though, as you couldn't move even if you were putting all your strength on your legs. Maybe that's because something is holding you down, unavailing you to even breathe, Sharp claws closing in to your neck.

Eyes widening in disbelief, Torches could be seen in the distance.And there he was, your lover. With Fengshen in hand, it seems he saw you too, face twisting in fear and anger. It looked like he was screaming for something, but your eyelids were growing heavy. You really wanted to say that you were fine, to ease his nerves, hating to see him like this... Maybe if you wake up soon, You'll have the chance to tell him that...

...As all fades to black and the screams were all turned but to faint echoes.

Taking an arrow from the quiver strapped to your back, you place the arrow's nock to the bow's string. Channeling all your rage as you pull back the string. Just realizing that it needs quite the force to pull all the wa-

The arrow flies, your hand slipping amidst your thoughts. It would have be epic if you hit bullseye in first try but.... It didnt even reach halfway, it was to be expected since it was only pulled a little.

You turn towards the brunet to intercept the arriving laughter from the man behind you- ahm...too late

Feng Xin slid a hand to his mouth as he said,

"Wow, You're amazing It reached so far...!"

It sounded like he was trying hard to hold his amusement in really bad, tears pooling at the edge of his crinkled eyes.

"You- That didn't count! watch, i'll nail it this time"

You turn, Trying it again, pulling the bow strings taut. The arrow flew though farther this time, but it didn't even hit the target. You groan in frustration, though relieved that it was at least better this time. You try it again, and again-

"Your form is wrong... Here let me help you"

Feng Xin seemingly done with his daily dose of laughter, finally moves to aid you. Enclosing into your form, enveloping your own hands on the bow.

Stiffening at the closeness, you impulsively turn your head to look at him. Noticing the soft smile still imprinted on his face, brows curved perfectly in his focused state, brown locks framing his face just right. And his piercing eyes looking at the target, and now at you, his gaze softening.

"Why are you looking at me? you should be looking at where you're shooting," Feng Xin grins, kind of embarrassed with your lovesick gaze

You quickly rip your gaze away from his, huffing a small,

"I knew that."

Feng Xin gives you a few tips and adjustments on your form, Though you find your mind going elsewhere

"Here you can shoot now.." He says softly with his hands still enveloped around yours, guiding your fingers off the string.

Fwoosh-

The arrow flies, though a bit crooked at least it hit the target now,

"There you go now you do it by yoursel-"

"No! I suck at shooting arrows it would be best if you guide me for now!" You were quick to say, which surprised the man.

Letting out a chuckle at the switch up from -

'I'm a pro at archery, I don't need anyone's help!' To this

"Fine, fine a few more so you can get the hang of it" Feng Xin pats your head, and guides you in position again. Playing along with your antics for now.

This happens a few more times, with each getting closer and closer to the center of the target.

Fwoosh-

The sound of the arrow piercing the wooden target, you're used to it now. But this time, excites you the most, as you see the arrow has finally hit the bullseye. You let out a cheer, relieved to have finally hit the jackpot. You were convinced to have gotten the hang of it.

"Now your turn"

He pats your head again probably for good luck, now creating some distance so he can survey your marksmanship.

Letting out a breathe of air, you take an arrow from the quiver again, though this time never taking your eyes off the target.

"Hey I said stand up straight, were you not listening before? And also your foot move it back a bit more"

He barks out from a far, dead panning. The things he said before just being forgotten in a few short minutes.

You swiftly fixed your posture, brows furrowed in embarassment.

"-I knew that I was just getting ready!"

Huffing, as he let out an amused 'mhmm'

You put the nock on the string of the bow, pursing your lips as you pull it back. Focusing only on hitting the target in front of you, Not paying mind to Feng Xin's scrutinizing gaze.

Unbeknownst to you, there was pure awe in his gaze at the sights of you. Lips twitching into a lopsided smile. While the sun sets in the horizon, making the surroundings glow with a tint of orange and pink. The scene just looks ethereal, able to be mistaken as the heavens itself.

The arrow makes a whistling noise due to the speed, slicing through the air in its wake. Landing on the target with a loud thud.

Though disappointed with it not hitting the center mark, you were only a few sections off. Surely you could do it in a few tries or one more-

"Good job, that'll make do for now" Your eyes widen whilst turning towards Feng Xin, with both hands clasped

"A few more, I really can hit the target in the center now-!"

You try to persuade him,

"Don't overexert yourself, we have all the time in the world"

"Well what if the world is ending tomorrow, how will I protect myself then" You try to retort

"I'll be there beside you," A firm reply by Feng Xin, whilst he picks up the arrows that are laying around.

",I only won't be, if you go somewhere without telling me"

You sigh, placing the bow on the side to help him clean as well

"Are you still mad about that?" Walking towards the targets, you take the arrows embedded there, putting them back on your quiver.

"Don't act all surprised now," A sigh can be heard even from afar

"I only wanted to do that to surprise you-" You freeze on the spot, the continuing part '-for our anniversary' on the tip of your tongue can't having to bear to say it.

I noticed recently in the MXTX community that people were getting pissed that Hua Cheng or Xie Lian x Female Readers exist. Their argument is that it is fetishizing gay men. How????

He took this as his chance to put the real plan into action. After getting a signal from San Lang that the mistletoe was hanging up a few feet from you two, Xie Lian basically sprinted into the both of you, pushing you under the plant.

Mu Qing turned around, visibly angry at Xie Lian, "would it hurt to watch where you move?!" This caused Xie Lian to put his hands up in defeat and shuffle away.

While rubbing your head to try and soothe the pain, you noticed something bright above you. Realizing it was mistletoe your face got darker. This caused Mu Qing to seem slightly concerned, questioning what was the problem. You only pointed up, and when he took notice his face also darkened.

"We can simply move and ignore this tradition, it's not that important anyways-" He was interrupted by you however, "rules are rules, Mu Qing, we can't ignore them. Plus, I kinda like this tradition."

Fengqing x Goddess of Death! Reader

Warning!!! Contains death! (it's gentle and unnamed characters, but still, be warned)

I'm pretty sure tgcf doesn't have death gods (I haven't read the books yet, but I know most of the plot) but we'll ignore this fact

I added a name for the goddess, but it's literally just a nickname

The goddess of death was very elusive, many heavenly officials considering her a myth, only few having seen her a select few times.

So, perhaps it was inevitable that somebody would deem it necessary to track the goddess down, for paperwork that was never reported.

And who would be the one assigned such if not Xie Lian himself?

And who would be the tag-along's if not Hua Cheng, Mu Qing and Feng Xin?

In their disguises, of course.

So that's how they ended up making their way to a village that apparently housed a pair of senior-aged soulmates who had reincarnated together to share their love.

On the way they end up meeting a traveler woman, with silver hair and carrying a white cloth bundle in her arms.

"Ah, are you fellow travelers, perhaps?" she'd started with a curious tilt of her head.

"Yes," Xie Lian smiled, "we heard the town just up ahead has wonderful views, so we wanted to visit."

A peculiar, knowing glint entered the woman's eye, "Sure there are!" she leaned in closer, as though telling a secret, "They say, whatever you're looking for can be found in Yang village."

"And you're looking for something." Hua Cheng pointed out amicably.

The woman laughed, "Of course! As are you!"

The rest of their walk to the village was relatively quiet, even Feng Xin and Mu Qing not bickering much.

Instead, the two might be seen whispering among themselves, casting an occasional glance at the traveler woman accompanying them.

Upon reaching the Yang village the silver haired woman turned to them, smiled and bowed, "You'll find what you're looking for." and with that strange glint in her eye, she walked off.

Once alone, the quartet were left in a bout of silence.

"Where might we find the couple, gege?" Hua Cheng turned to Xie Lian with the same smile he always had for his gege.

"Ling Wen gave me their names, so let's just ask around, see if anyone knows."

And that's how they found their way to a regular village home with a yard and some trees.

In the yard of the senior couple, they found a woman with glittery silver hair, draped in a pristine white cloak, with an elegant black scythe held in her hands, sitting on a tree stump, looking into the home of the soulmate couple.

Upon their approach, the silver haired woman smiled, "Ah, it appears you have found what you were looking for, fellow travelers!"

Mu Qing's eyes narrowed, "Are you really the goddess of death?"

The goddess before them smiled in a sly, perhaps infuriating, way, "Perhaps, if you could guess my name~."

"Why do we need to guess your name?" Feng Xin's brows furrowed.

"Because," the goddess's smile seemed a permanent fixture, "you hadn't asked before."

"Most of heaven doesn't know your name." Mu Qing pointed out.

This time Hua Cheng butted in, "Of course they would not."

Mu Qing bristled at this "You-!"

"I think part of it is Yue," Xie Lian interrupted, "Because of your hair."

"The moon." The goddess confirmed, "I'll accept that and ask for no more then."

Yue stood up and walked toward the open door to the home, where they could see the soulmate couple having a mid-day nap, with their door to the yard open to let in the warm summer breeze.

The goddess of death approached the couple and kneeled beside them.

"It's time now, my dears." She said and reached out a gentle hand to brush the wispy hairs out of their faces.

Soon after, the couple's chests stopped moving.

The goddess stepped away from the home, ribbons of silver hair fluttering in the wind, making her look every bit the ethereal being she is.

There was only one thought allowed in that moment.
