TMNT 2018 HEADCANONS— various info about the rottmnt movie

NOTES: obvious spoilers ahead for the ROTTMNT Netflix movie, so proceed with caution. This movie made me cry so many times for so many reasons lol. These headcanons are going to get dark so fair warning. Also, these headcanons are going to be made a bit haphazardly (and I’ve just finished the movie rn as I’m writing this so yeah I still have to let everything sink in). I’ll make a couple of oneshots that cover the movie at some point (I have a lot more oneshots to finish in the meantime). One last thing: keep in mind that Steele and Tessa, Ash and Raph’s twins, are turtles. Enjoy!

Kk so bare with me on the math 

But if I did this correctly

Everything should add up

But if the math isn’t correct, then just know that these characters are  around these ages 

In the year 2044 (the year the opening takes place), everyone except for Casey dies. 

The turtles and the kunoichis’ children were also fighting in the battle against the Kraang. 

In 2044, Ash and Raph are 41, Leo, Donnie, April, and Alex would be 40, Mikey would be 39, Harley would be 23, Steele, Tessa, and Bella are 19, and Whitney and Alec are 16.

Everyone had died in Casey’s timeline. 

Of course, Raph, Splinter, April, and Donnie had already perished. In her rage and anger at witnessing her father, aunt, grandfather, and uncle getting killed, Harley had made the rage-filled impulsive decision to charge in and directly attack the Kraang (very similar to how Raph charged at Karai and the Foot Clan at the beginning of the TMNT The Last Ronin comic series anyways—). Unfortunately, Harley was outnumbered and had become causality in the Kraang war. 

Tessa, as well as Bella, Alec, and Alex, had been crushed to death while piloting a Kraang ship. Their objective was to stop an immensely powerful energy source, and they had no other choice than to send the ship they were in into the power source. Alas, their plan ultimately didn’t work. 

Ashley had been killed by the Kraang while defending Leo. Leo was already injured badly, and Ashley jumped in front of her leader and took the hit for him. Ash later died of her injuries in Leo’s arms, surrounded by her remaining family. 

Mikey, Leo, Casey, Whitney, and Steele were the only ones left now. Everyone else had been brutally murdered by the Kraang. 

Mikey, of course, sacrificed himself to be able to send Casey Jones into the past. Now, Michelangelo is dead. 

Whitney was horrendously wounded. She wasn’t going to make it, and ultimately, she didn’t survive. Whitney later died in her older brother, Steele’s, arms with their Uncle Leo by their side. 

Currently, it was only Leo and Steele left. Steele had also been injured to the point where he couldn’t travel with his friend, Casey. 

With tears in his eyes, Casey was kicked into the portal by his Master Leonardo. The last thing that Casey Jones saw as the portal closed was Steele and Leo charging ahead and taking out more Kraang creatures, only for the Uncle and Nephew to be incinerated by a laser beam. 

An entire family was wiped out. Three generations of the Hamato family were eradicated. Splinter, the turtle brothers and the kunoichis, and their children were killed. Casey’s timeline was doomed. He knew that he couldn’t go back to the timeline that he knew, but he knew that there was a chance that he could save this one.

After locating the turtles via April and Alex and the initial shock of Casey being from the future had worn off, Casey had explained the situation to everyone. Hearing everything and having a plan, this prompted Ash to drop off her and Raph’s daughter, Harley, who was a toddler at the time, at her father, Chad’s, house while they dealt with the rise of the Kraang. 

With Leo being arrogant in his leadership, he didn’t listen to his team. That’s why their first attempt at stopping the Kraang didn’t go as planned. Yes, they successfully retrieved the key, but in the end, Raph had sacrificed himself and gotten captured by the Kraang in order to save Leo. This, in turn, later made him infected and mind-controlled by the Kraang throughout the majority of these events. The turtles also lost their mystical powers.

When Leo returned with the news that Raph was taken by the Kraang, everyone was devastated. Ashley wanted to break down and cry right then and there. What was going to happen to the love of her life, the father of her child?

“What do you mean, Leo?! You have to be joking!” Ash spoke up brokenly, tears pricking her purple eyes. Her eyes widened, and she was rendered speechless. 

“I’m not joking, Ash! Raph is captured by the Kraang, and we have no time to lose!” Leo responded panicked, his voice rising. 

While April and Splinter stayed in the lair to watch over the key to the Kraang’s portal, the others made their way to go and save Raph. 

While they were on their mission to save Raph, the Kraang attacked and caused the group to separate. Alex, Mikey, and Donnie were together about to be crushed in the Shellraiser, and Leo, Casey, and Ashley were together stuck in a section of the subway tunnels. 

Casey and Ash gave Leo a piece of their mind about his behavior and how he should basically get his head outta his ass and listen to his team. 

“Leo, I understand that you haven’t been appointed leader for very long and you’re still learning, but you have to listen to your team! As Casey said, you don’t have every single answer under the goddamn Sun!” Ash chastised sternly, flicking the leader on the forehead. 

Eventually, Leo came to his senses, which definitely made Casey and Ash feel a tad bit better. 

Meanwhile, April and Splinter were on their way to Donnie, Alex, and Mikey, and the two of them successfully saved the turtle brothers. 

Eventually, everyone had regrouped upstairs in the main room of the building where they located and freed Raph. Unfortunately, Raph had become infected by the Kraang and a battle ensued. In the end, they couldn’t get to Raph in time and the key to the portal was stolen back by the Kraang via infected Raph. 

In the end, the gang had to retreat without Raph and the key. 

The Kraang were unleashing their wrath upon the city of New York, and the team was watching this all play out on the roof of a building. All hope was seemingly lost, but they ended up formulating a plan. 

So they split up into two teams. Mikey, Ash, Donnie, and Leo were together inside the Kraang base while Splinter, April, Alex, and Casey were taking care of the creatures on the ground. 

Leo and Ash went to find and save Raph while Donnie and Mikey found a way to hack into the Kraang’s spaceship. 

Leo and Ash ended up having to battle infected Raph, with both of them trying to talk to him and coax him out of his mind control. 

“Raph, come on, snap out of it! You have to snap out of it! You’re needed here with us!” Ash pleaded as she dodged another attack. 

“They’re right, man!” Leo chimed in quickly, charging at his brother with his twin katana in hand, “You’re my brother. You’re a father now, Raph! You’re just now beginning your own little family with Ash! You have to snap out of it! Please!” 

“Please, Raph, we need you. Harley needs you. She needs her father in her life.” Ash said tearfully, their voice cracking under the weight of their overwhelming emotions. 

In the meantime, Donnie and Mikey had discovered a way to hack into Kraang’s spaceship. Donnie had to, quite literally, go inside the ship for a better connection, but he managed to do that right as one of the more terrifying Kraang’s arrived. 

Leo and Ash were completely done with fighting Raph. Right as that happened, Leo and Ash saw that Mikey and Donnie had been captured by the Kraang. Ash also managed to get captured during the fight with Raph. Leo was the only one, out of this group, who wasn’t caught. 

Leo managed to talk some sense into Raph, with Ash adding in things as well. 

Leo managed to get caught, too, but Raph was finally snapping out of it. Leo motivated the team to fight back against the clutches of the Kraang. Everyone was fighting back, the turtles got their mystical powers back, and Raph was free. Now, the turtles and Ash were fighting against the Kraang together. 

The battle was taken outside of the Technodrome, and everyone was fighting in the air. The leader of the Kraang managed to knock Donnie, Mikey, and Ash off of the Kraang ship. 

Raph managed to get to them, embracing all three of them tightly. He shielded the four of them with his mystical abilities, and the four of them landed in a random parking lot in Staten Island. 

Besides the fact that the four of them were displeased with landing in Staten Island, they were okay and no one was too badly injured. 

“Donnie, Leo is still up there.” Raph pointed out. 

Ash tried to fight the pain she was experiencing in her knee and chest. She attempted to stand up, but she fell to the ground. Raph was at her side instantly. 

“Ash, baby, you need to stay down here,” Raph said. 

“I can fly up there and help Leo out, Raph.” Ash ignored what her boyfriend was implying. She didn’t even hesitate in her response. 

Raph widened his eyes, along with Donnie and Mikey. “Ash, you’re in no position to fight. You’ll severely overuse your weather manipulation abilities, and it’ll have dire consequences if you do.” Donnie explained. 

“Donnie’s right, Ash,” Mikey piped in, “you have to take it easy.”

Ash looked to Raph with a look of frustration and helplessness. Ash’s mind was running a mile a minute, but she recognized the fact that Donnie and Mikey were right. All they had to do was utilize the ninja’s greatest weapon: hope. 

Soon enough, after leaving the rest of the creatures to Alex, Splinter, and April, Casey had made his way to Leo, who was still on the Kraang ship with the most powerful Kraang. 

Casey was finally at the key, and he was about to take it, when he heard what Leo’s plan was. Leo was planning on pushing the Kraang back into the portal and he was going to have Casey close the portal with him still inside of it. Everyone could hear it on their communication devices. Leo was going to sacrifice himself for the greater good of the world. 

Everyone pleaded for Leo not to do it, yet he did anyway. The portal closed with Leo still inside of it, trapping him in the dimension with the Kraang. 

Even though the world was saved, the turtles and the kunoichis felt like they lost everything in a matter of seconds. 

April and Alex fell to the ground, comforting Splinter. Raph collapsed to the ground in devastation with Ash crying at her lover’s side. Donnie placed a hand on his brother’s shell, shocked that he was crying. Mikey tried his damn hardest to use his mystical abilities to teleport Leo to them from the Kraang dimension. 

That’s when there was a glimpse of light. Mikey had managed to begin to summon a portal, and he began to flake away. However, Donnie, Ash, and Raph stood right next to Mikey and took some of his pain away (like that one scene in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 when they held the power stone). Together, they were able to successfully open up the portal and retrieve Leo. 

Leo was home and alive. The Kraang were gone. Everything was going down the right path. 

Weeks had gone by and everything was going great. The aftermath of the Kraang was still being cleaned up by the officials, and the turtles, kunoichis, and Casey would help clean up during the nighttime. 

During their celebration after everything had settled down, Ash introduced Casey to her daughter, Harley. Of course, since Casey grew up with his version of Harley and the others, it was ✨weird✨ for him to see Harley as a toddler. The last time he saw Harley, she was 23 years old. Casey held Harley for the first time ever, and he remembered what his old friend was like in his timeline. It was bittersweet for Casey — he knew that his Harley in his timeline would never have a chance to live a full life, but this Harley does have that chance to live her life to the fullest now that the Kraang were gone from their world. Casey was incredibly happy for Ash and Raph and their family, and he was excited to see who Harley was going to grow up to be. 

Also, Casey was shocked to see a picture of his mother, Cassandra, on April’s phone, so that was interesting. 

Everyone was finally safe and sound. Casey, although he missed his friends and family back in his timeline, he has a chance to start anew in this one. The world was saved, and everyone finally has the happy ending that they deserve.

TMNT-Verse Info— random facts about ash (my tmnt oc)

NOTES: enjoy! These headcanons apply to all tmnt versions of Ash, unless the headcanon specifies certain versions.

Ash opens chip bags (+ other bags, too) upside down. It drives Leo absolutely insane.

When Ash was pregnant with all of her children, she ended up getting really really sick during/throughout her third trimester. Throughout her entire pregnancy with Whitney, Ash was constantly and extremely sick.

Ash is known as the “Grammar Guru” because she is such a stickler for proper grammar. She won’t be annoying about it, but it’s more so a personal thing.

Here are all of the names of Ash and Raph’s children (I changed them up a bit): Harlene Yoshiko-Jade Hamato, Steele Leo-Ace Hamato, Tessa Michaela-Cerise Hamato, and Whitney Donelle-Snow Hamato. The name Yoshiko comes from Splinter (Hamato Yoshi), Leo of course comes from Leo, Michaela comes from Michelangelo, and Donelle comes from Donatello. Ash and Raph wanted to name their children after Splinter and the turtles in some way.

Ash grew up watching a hell of a lot of cartoons. Some were from the early 2000s, but mainly from the 90s and the 80s. Thundercats, The Tick, He-Man & She-Ra, Sonic and Mario cartoons — you name it, they've binged all of it. When they met the turtles, Ash introduced these cartoons to them.

Ash calls Raph "hot stuff". She does it because it flusters him every time she calls him that, which amuses Ash.

Like in the 1987 TMNT, I headcanon that Mutant Mayhem Raph and Harley can break the fourth wall.

Everyone thinks that Raph teases the living daylights out of Ash — oh, boy, Ash teases her boyfriend just as much as he does her.

In multiple versions of TMNT, Ash gets stabbed through the torso by Shredder with his blades, and she temporarily dies for a bit. Donnie manages to bring her back, so she’s revived. In TMNT 2012, it happens in season one in the episode with the mutagen bomb (“The Gauntlet”, where they first encounter Shredder). There were instances in the comics, and it also happened in TMNT 2003. In ROTTMNT, Ash got impaled through the chest by Shredder when she was caught off guard. 2003 Ash also drowned and had to be revived after a mission had gone wrong (she was with Raph and Casey when that happened).

Ash uses coconut and apricot shampoo and conditioner.

2012 Ash and Rise Leo would for sure get along great. They relate to a lot of things. They both share similar music tastes, they were both thrown off of roofs of tall buildings, and they like to watch anime and read manga.

2012 Ash was helping Donnie out with one of his inventions, and she was using a staple gun. She then, just like it was nothing, pointed the staple gun at her face and said “does this thing have staples in it?” Ash got startled when everyone yelled at her in concern and she shot herself in the face with a staple gun. Two staples ended up on her forehead and the two others were on the bridge of her nose and her right eyebrow.

All versions of Ashley chew her yogurt and ice cream.

Ash and Raph like to watch funny clips of Jerma in their free time.

ASHLEY WAS JOLTED AWAKE FROM THEIR SLUMBER.

The ravenette woke up in a sweat, immediately pulling the covers off of them. They were feeling hotter, and they were sweating buckets. Ash wasn’t getting a lot of adequate sleep as of late. Ash was someone who had struggled with insomnia since their early childhood, but now that they were pregnant in their mid-twenties, they really weren’t going to get any more sleep. Ash and her husband, Raph, had three kids together already, so sleeping was something that the young parents had started to treasure more after they began having children. 

The raven-haired mother began to breathe heavily. They were scared of what they had seen. Her nightmare had been truly a nightmare. The world was in shambles after the Kraang showed up. Explosions and death had become the norm in this nightmare. Ash wanted to close her eyes and go back to bed, but she just couldn’t. Every time they closed their violet eyes, all they saw were the dead bodies of her friends and family. It was terrifying to think about going back to sleep because Ash would see the awful visions. They knew that they needed to sleep, as sleep was especially important now that they were having another baby, but it was too scary to even consider trying that. To think that was reality for Casey… I can’t even imagine… Ashley thought to themself. 

Ashley pushed the covers off of her, getting up from the bed she shared with Raph. The ravenette walked over to the on-suite restroom, their breathing unsteady. They opened the door to the en-suite bathroom, not even bothering to turn on the lights. Turning on the faucet on high, Ashley gathered some water until it puddles in their hands. They splashed the water on their olive-toned face, trying to wake themself up. Their mind wandered to various things — how much more emotional they were during this pregnancy, how awful their insomnia was, and the frequent nightmares that would depict horrendous situations that they and their family were in. Unfortunately for the kunoichi, the frightening nightmares were the thing that they mainly focused on. 

Ashley grumbled to herself. She didn’t know what to do in order to get to sleep. Nothing seemed to work. The melatonin wasn’t having any effect on her, the meditation that she and Raph would do also wasn’t doing anything for her, and the various flavors of hot tea weren’t aiding Ash in her troubles when they typically did help her. Ashley felt even more irritated than she had been in a long time, and the pregnancy symptoms that she was experiencing definitely didn’t help her at all. Honestly, Ash felt helpless. All she wanted was to get some sleep for her and her baby’s sake and well-being. It would be a miracle if the raven-haired kunoichi even got 2 hours of slumber. 

Ashley buried her head in her hands, leaning forward on the counter. Suddenly, the lights above the sink turned on, which made the woman jump slightly. “Sweetheart? Why are you still up?” Ash's husband's caring and confused voice sounded from their shared restroom entrance. “You do know that it’s two am, right?” 

Ashley looked up to see a mildly concerned Raphael without his red mask on. “I do know that it’s two am,” Ash mumbled. She grumbled again afterward. 

“Come on, let’s get back to bed, honey,” Raph coaxed sweetly. 

“I can’t sleep,” Ash told him in an irritated and groggy voice. “If I could sleep, I would sleep, but I fucking can’t.”  

Raph softened his facial expression. “Is the baby keeping you up?” He asked in a soft tone of voice. 

Ash nodded tearfully. “Yeah, that’s part of it.” Ash started pitifully with a sniffle. They hated that they were so easily emotional when, normally, that’s not how they were wired. Being more emotional than usual was just one of many side effects of Ash’s pregnancy. 

Raph could sense that something was wrong. “What’s wrong, sweetpea?” Raph inquired with concern written in his features. He reached out and gently put his arm over her shoulders, pulling her closer to him in a side hug. 

Ash began to sob quietly, sniffling. “I… I keep having nightmares, Raphie. Horrible nightmares. Combined with the fact that I seemingly have every single goddamn pregnancy symptom under the Sun, I can’t get a good night's sleep!” Ash exclaimed emotionally, wiping tears from her cheeks. 

Raph could tell that his significant other was very frustrated. He felt that if Ash talked everything out, then maybe they would feel better. Sleep was important for everyone, but particularly for Ash since they were pregnant. Unluckily for them, Ash hadn’t been getting sufficient enough sleep during this pregnancy, which was a factor that Donnie had stressed about whenever Ash would get checkups by him. “Hey, how about we go sit down and talk this out, alright?” The red-masked ninja turtle suggested to his wife. 

Ash nodded. “Sure. It’s not like I can go to bed anyways.” The mother of three told her husband in irritation as she left the bathroom. Raph switched off the light in their bathroom, following his lover to where they sat down on the bed. 

“Now, babe, tell me everything that’s been troubling you,” Raphael said in a soothing tone of voice. His voice was still groggy from abruptly being woken up and because of how late it was. 

“It’s mainly my nightmares that have been troubling me the most,” Ash answered quietly. 

“Okay, okay… what were the nightmares about?” The red-masked ninja turtle inquired softly. Even though he asked about their nightmares, he already had a couple of incidents and villains in his mind. 

The ravenette went quiet. They paused for a moment, knowing that the minute they began recounting their nightmare they would lose their composure. “I… had a nightmare about the Kraang… Everything had gone wrong. We had so much hope! In the end, we… all lost. Not only did we lose our home, Raph, but we lost our baby! We lost my fathers!” Ash whispered brokenly. They drew in a sharp breath, running their fingers through their long straight black hair. 

With Ash exhaling unsteadily, Raph widened his eyes in alarm. What Ash was recalling was… incredibly intimidating, to say the least. His heart panged when he heard what Ash had said about their children. Raph didn’t even want to know the details on that matter, and it seemed like Ashley didn’t want to elaborate further, which was fine with him. Frowning, Raphael took this chance to grasp his lover’s hand in an attempt to comfort them. “A-Ash,” Raph muttered, his voice shattering as tears of sadness welled up in his abyss-black eyes, “… I’m so sorry… I’m sorry that you see these awful, terrifying things.”

“It’s every time I close my fucking eyes, Raph! Every time!” Ash voiced emotionally, trying their damn hardest not to scream. They squeezed his hand tighter, a single hot tear streaming down their cheek as small hiccups emitted from their mouth. 

“I completely understand what you mean. I still have nightmares about the Kraang and the Shredder. Hell, even Draxum, to an extent…” Raph started, admitting things that he’s held to himself for a while. The mutant snapping turtle was abruptly reminded of the time when Draxum threw Leo off of the roof of a building. Even though Leo had joked about it at the moment, that scared Raph shitless. He now had Ash’s attention, as she remained quiet so he could elaborate. With a heavy sigh, Raph continued on with what he was saying. “Among all of my nightmares and dreams that I have, there’s always, always this one particular nightmare that keeps coming back to me. In this nightmare scenario that I’m in, the Kraang still have control of me. They make me do things that I can’t even begin to fathom. I end up hurting Pops, my brothers, A-April, Casey, and your sisters…” Raph trailed off tearfully. His bottom lip quivered as tears cascaded down his cheeks. 

Ash was immediately alarmed, and with the weight of her own emotions combined with her husband’s heavy feelings, her tears started to flow, as well. The black-haired kunoichi scooted closer to Raph, hugging his arm. “Take your time, love…” Ash whispered softly in a shaky voice. 

With the gesture that she did, Raph decided to put his arm around Ash. Ash gently placed her hand on his thigh as she sniffled. “Not only that… every time I have this nightmare, it ends the exact same. In my mind-controlled state, I am always forced by the Kraang to… to k-kill you and the… the…”

“— kids…?” Ash muttered, finishing his sentence for him. She was mortified at the nightmare Raph was telling her about. Her violet eyes were wide and the tears just kept flowing. 

Raph paused for a moment, but he nodded in confirmation. “Yeah,” He said in a barely audible voice, “the kids…” 

Both of them were very silent for what seemed like the longest moment. The couple was rendered speechless by both of the stories they had told each other. After a second for the both of them to take everything in, Ash spoke up first. “R-Raphael… I’m sorry that you have to experience a horrible nightmare like that. Unfortunately, I have similar nightmares to that, as well.” Ash sighed in an attempt to regain her composure before she continued to speak. “Even though years have passed, we all are still reeling from the Kraang and the Shredder. I try not to think this way, but there are times when I feel as though they still have me trapped, even though they aren’t physically here.”

“Kinda like you haven’t fully escaped from them?” Raph offered Ash something to relate to. 

“Exactly…” Ash agreed in a delicate tone of voice. “Shredder and the Kraang… they still have me caught in an iron grip…” 

“I feel ya there, sweetheart,” Raph muttered. 

Ash looked up at him, smiling sadly as they wiped his tears away. “But that’s not our reality. Our reality is that our entire family is safe from the dangers we have faced in the past.” Ash started, her voice clearing up. Instead of despondency in her tone, there was reassurance replacing it. 

The reassurance in his wife’s voice was already lifting Raph’s mood up. “Yeah, you’re right, babe,” Raph said with a grin that showed his tooth, “we’re not alone in this because we have the others and, most importantly, each other. We have support around us.”

“Yeah, that’s correct,” Ashley agreed with a small smile. 

Even though the couple was struggling with their demons of the past, they both had a lot to look forward to. Things were looking up for Ash and Raph in life. Despite the fact that they had sleepless nights every so often, the couple tried not to let the past haunt them. Admittedly, that was challenging for both of them. However, something that always helped Ashley and Raphael focuses on the present was their children. Their adorable little children were what kept them grounded. 

“Are you feeling better now that we have discussed our troubles?” Ashley questioned their husband, looking at him. 

“I was just about to ask you that, but, uh, yeah! I think I am feeling a tad bit better.” Raphael answered his lover. Before Ash could respond, they let out a big yawn. “Let’s get you to bed, Ash. Donnie says that you really need to get more sleep for your and the baby’s health.” The red-masked turtle advised the kunoichi.  

Ash stretched as they let out a relaxed sigh. “Okay, let’s go to bed. My sleep deprivation is catching up to me.” Ash mentioned. 

Standing up, Raph pulled back the covers of their bed. He got into bed first, while Ash climbed in second. Ash laid down with her back against his plastron, and Raph’s hands remained on her baby bump, which was poking through her pajama attire. Raph’s eyes sparkled and his heart swelled up when he felt their baby kick. 

“Holy hell, I was not expecting that,” Ash commented with a lighthearted giggle. “That kicking better not keep me up for the rest of the night…”

Raph kissed their temple. “I love you so much.” The red-masked turtle told them lovingly. 

“I love you, too, Raph. Get some rest.” The ravenette woman replied sweetly.
