Ok question how would the tmnt bros (all 4) react to someone having a crush on them, and they confess, but the turtle rejects at time... but later on he realizes no wait I actually do like them!

But theres already been like a good month or more since the confession and their crush has been sorta avoiding them by hanging out with the other turtle bros and though still being polite, they avoid like being alone with their turtle crush and try to act like they don't have a crush still(but they do)

Part 2

Bay Turtles x Reader

Leonardo

Turns you down as gently as he can but it still feels like a sucker punch to the gut. It may sound calloused but he's a ninja, a mutant, a protector before anything else and that includes being someone's boyfriend. With a constructive discussion on the matter, he can only hope that you understand his position. You assured him that you did.

So, then, how is it that he barely gets a conversation in with you these days? And why does that fact burn a hole in his stomach? This pit, although metaphorical, weighs down heavily on him. Assumably, he’s missing one-on-one with a friend until it truly occurs to him just what exactly is going on. There's a lesson to be learned here, he's sure - a saying that goes around as if taken from an ancient script: you don't realise how good you have it until it's gone. You're not gone perse but you make a point of avoiding him individually. As well-mannered as you try to be, he's noticed and he's noticed the hurt in his belly that comes alongside it.

He thought things were okay, that despite the rejection, you would still be able to comfortably continue your friendship without any issues. It seems he managed even to fool himself. Being so caught up in what it means to be one of New York's self-acclaimed protectors, he was completely absentminded to the feelings that had been bubbling up inside him all along. No wonder he's been losing focus on his training as of late. He has attempted to try and talk to you about it but to no avail. Has your heart really been that broken?

For once, he doesn’t know what to do, or what decision should be made. He’s stuck between a rock and a hard place right now. Who's the one person he can turn to at a time like this? Come on. Who else would it be?

"Sensei, you know better than anyone that our position comes with complications. That we as ninjas are sworn to certain oaths.” 

"Yes, the duty of yourself and your brothers is indeed a heavy burden. Responsibility comes with risk and consequence as I am sure you are well aware of by now.” Splinter watches his son bow down as he thoughtfully strokes his beard.  "However, sensei, rat, master; alongside all of these things, I am foremost a father who wishes to see his sons be happy. You're in love, are you not?"

Leo’s attention quickly turns up from the floor to his master. How had he figured it out? Must be that parental instinct. Either way, he’s thankful for that in some respect. It makes this easier. Less complicated. 

The turtle nods and breathes out, "I am, Sensei."

"That's what I thought." His father lays a hand over Leo’s shoulder before it taps him against the side of his head. "Now, what are you waiting for? Talking to me isn't going to change the situation."

Splinter is right. It's high time for him to get out of his funk and strategise the best way to make amends. He can only hope he isn’t too late. 

Raphael

Rejects you thinking it was some sick prank curated by his youngest brother or something. There's no way you have a thing for him. He's a mutant and you're a human. How could someone actually be in love with a freak like himself? That's why he blows up in your face when you attempt to pour your heart out to him. Whatever joke you thought would be funny, isn't. 

He may have taken things out of proportion. This much is made obvious enough by the poorly thought-out excuses you make just to avoid being alone with him. Yeah, that's right, he thinks. You should feel ashamed for trying to pull a stupid stunt like that, for trying to mess with him. He's standing firm on his self-assurance. Don't think for a second that he's going to lose sleep over what he said that day.

However, life has a very funny way of playing its own game. It all comes to fruition when you're laughing with the leader of the brothers. When your hand landed on his forearm, Raphael was struck with something fierce. The shot of jealousy to his heart almost takes him for a wild spin but he disregards it for typical Leo/Raph rivalry. Until that night, anyway. This man is tossing and turning in bed, ruminating on that sickly feeling in his chest; losing sleep over it. No. Surely not. He isn't in love with you. This isn't something that's been in the making for however long now. So what if you managed to calm him down quicker than anyone else he's ever known? Big whoop if you used to make a point of checking up on him when no one dared to go near him. It’s no big deal that you’d hype him up and cheer him on before each mission. 

Fuck. He's been in love with you this whole time, hasn't he? Oh, you have got to be kidding. This was probably the only chance he had at something close to normal in his life and he trampled over it like it was nothing. That's assuming it was even genuinely meant from your end to begin with. He still has his doubts all things considered. Either way, he can’t just sit in bed and wallow in his head all night. He needs some air. 

"What crawled up your shell and died?"

Great. He had hoped to get some peace and quiet. Not that this city knows the definition of either word but that isn’t the point. 

"Not now, Jones. I ain't in the mood."

Casey's head rolls against his shoulders, and he sighs, "Hey, if this is to do with Y/n ignoring you, what do you expect? 'Can't just make someone cry and expect things to be okay after without an apology."

Raph's mask slowly descends and hoods over his eyes, those of which are now staring down the detective.

"Oh, shit. You didn't know?"

No. No, he did not. He really made you cry? Why would you-? Ah. Two things smack him up the head at this moment: you meant every word of what you admitted a month ago and he is an absolute asshole. Despite already living in the sewers, he feels like the scum of the Earth.

That's it. No more holding back. No more being chicken. He might have ruined his chance but he can at least try and make things right by you.

Donatello

Aloof. Absolutely aloof and utterly clueless to the fact that you were even trying to admit your feelings for him. Yet, the way that the whole situation plays out makes it seem as though he had denied you. His head is usually stuck in a book or on one of the many screens that litter his quarters. What can you really expect of him? Unfortunately, this isn’t something that comes to mind nor is taken into consideration when you attempt your casual proclamation. With his eyes glued to his computer, his inattentiveness could only be read as uninterest to which you find it’s probably best to withdraw yourself. 

In the weeks to come, it still doesn't even occur to him that you were confessing. The only thing that dawns on him from your weirdly abrupt absence is how strange it feels without you around. You still engage in your regular visits to the lair but are always elusive to his corner. Had he missed a memo? He can't quite place a finger on your change in behaviour. Then he realises just how much he enjoys and misses your presence. Even just how you'd pass by his little section of the lair and do something as small as asking him what he's working on. The small details should always get their chance in the spotlight but he managed to miss them when they were right there in front of him. When you were in front of him.

Subsequent to this steady progression of fluttering heart palpitations upon the thought of you and his drying throat when he tries to speak your way, he decides to take some action. At least, that’s the plan he has in his head. You hardly look his way, so he needs to find a way to gain your attention. There must be some way. With somewhat of an idea in mind, he dials a number through his computer and lets it ring. 

The other side of the line picks up and there’s a voice. “If this has anything to do with goons, aliens or whatever trouble you guys have gotten yourselves into, I don’t want any part of it.”

“Relax, Vern. This is something that entirely requires your expertise without life endangerment. I need to ask about women,” Donnie confirms, cutting right to the chase.

There’s a pause. "What-?” Another longer pause and then an inhale. “Can't you just ask one of your brothers or something?"

Yeah, right, because his family of sewer dwellers are so well-equipped for this matter. Even asking for Vern's aid is pushing the boat a little but it's better than nothing - a baseline structure of what to expect is all he needs. The internet would probably be more reliable but it doesn’t include that vital real-world experience.

"You engage in frequent courting. By all accounts, you're the only person I know who has enough field experience to give advice."

This might be giving Vern too much credit but this is a surefire way to get what he wants. Feeding a man's ego can accomplish many things. Call it manipulation of the circumstances if you will but no harm done. 

"You know what?” There’s a brightness in his tone, an uptilted cadence in Vern’s rhetorical question. Bingo. “You being the smart one has never been more accurate, Don. Alright, I'll help you."

The notes he takes are unfathomable but he wants to make sure that everything is thought out with careful precision. That's not even taking into account that he needs to muster the courage to ask you out in the first place.

Michelangelo

One would think that this guy would be jumping with unparalleled joy to have someone confess their feelings for him but he's got eyes for someone else. April O'Neil is his one true babycake, his angel face, the first love he had ever known. He turns you down in the friendly way one would expect him to if not a little cocky. Who wouldn't want a piece of the MC Mikey? There aren’t any hard feelings though, right?

Well, no but the sting that follows is still too much for you to handle. Too much in fact that you decide it's best to recoil into a shell of your own and spend less time with the loveable terrapin. Such a shame as well considering you're missing out on your regular gaming sessions together. It probably sucks big time to be rejected but he meant no harm by it. He thought you could still hang out as you normally would. Perhaps you just needed some time. That’s what he reckoned until the days turned to weeks and those weeks to almost two months. 

He’s subjected to playing bystander when you hang out with his family, barely getting a chance to have a word with you alone. If this treatment is good for anything, it gives him a chance to spectate and watch how you interact with those around you rather than directly with him. He recognises how much he adores that sparkle in your eyes, the playfulness of your tone when you crack out jokes with his brothers, how you light up the entire lair when you make your presence known. There is this unshakable spirit within you that he somehow never noticed until a few days prior when you took the liberty of playing an incredibly bold practical joke at Casey's expense. Man, this turtle's heart sored higher than it ever has before, which is saying something considering he had to jump out of a plane once.

Well, colour him surprised. He was so sure of himself that New York's favourite journalist was the only one for him but it seems he was wrong. Oh, man. He's feeling pretty bad now. He can surely make up for what happened though, right? Hopefully. There's only one way of finding out but he has one thing he needs to do first before talking to you.

"I'm sorry, angel face. My sights have been led astray. My loyalty shouldn’t be doubted but it’s for someone else now.” 

The way Mikey is knelt down, head lowered with April’s hands in his own is a perplexing sight if not curiously amusing. His feelings and the pronounced “dibs” on the reporter have been no secret but his recent infatuation with you hasn’t been much of a secret either. Not to her anyway but she likes to think she’s good at picking up on these things. 

“Just know that you'll always have a special place in my heart,” he finishes, ending the overly dramatised display by holding a fist to his chest. 

"Considerate as always." Her expression is somewhere between humoured and endeared, fighting the shake of her head at how adorably ridiculous this turtle can be. "Thanks, Mikey."

Now that's out of the way, he can go into this with a clear head. Although, the only thing really going into this is going to be all of his heart.

So we've got the Leos thinking 03!Leo is really cool, the Raphs having mutual respect for 03!Raph because they understand each other, and the Donnies having respect (and low key fear) for 03!Don and his peaceful ways.

Last but not least, the Mikeys. Gotta ask how they feel about 03!Mikey. Do they aspire to be like him, hoping to one day be able to bring as much chaos as he does?

I actually do think he’s kind of adopted all the other Michelangelos (specifically the younger ones) to try and stop them from getting caught up in the whole “funny guy” face that he has had to his whole life - intentionally or not, his brothers rely on him to be happy and carefree, and he wants to be the support he never got to the other Mikeys so they can express their own feelings and vent at him. He also wants to wrap them all up in bubble wrap and stop them from all the trauma sprinting towards them, but he understands he can’t and instead solidifies himself as the supporting pillar they need.

(Also they absolutely follow him around like ducks as he teaches them all the ways of pranking and mischief. He takes them under his wing to all become pranking gods.)

Crips, Bloods. Better Yet, The Purple Dragons! These turtles do their part to protect the city. Having a girlfriend was never on the table for them, but it happens. Then they discover her dirty laundry....

Leonardo

It was the usual routine

Patrolling the city from the shadows like the well-trained ninjas they were brought up to be

You had told him you'd be out working, to not wait up for you

You've only dated for 5 months

Neither of you thought it would come to you dating, especially Leo being a mutant turtle

Time flew, it was time to call it quits when Donnie received an alert of potential gang activity

Immediately they all headed to the source

An abandoned clothing factory, stuck in its own time

They arrive and quietly creep into the building, ready catch the thugs

No one could have prepared Leonardo for what he found out as soon as he caught a glimpse of the gang

He felt his heart shatter, crumble

It was his girl, giving orders for a heist and a murder, earning cheers from fellow members

When he heard a member call her "Leader" his heartbreak turned to anger

Him and his brothers leapt into action

Apprehending the gang and alerting the authorities

He could not even look at her

As they took her and the gang away, he mustered up enough strength to say his final words

"This is where it ends. Don't bother see me as your boyfriend again!"

Ending it right there

She didn't even shed a tear as the police took her away

Raphael

Her relationship with the big bara was an adventure

Not just under the sheets

They met in an awkward way, hitting it off just like that

It was late and patrol lasted longer than the usual, which was okay because there's always something goin' down in New York

The turtles responded to a man's cry for help

Upon arriving at the scene, Raphael was beside himself when you were with a group of thugs

"Yo boss, who are these freaks!?" A member hissed

The turtles realized they were referring to Raph's girl

"So...yer a gang leader?" Raphael asked, ticked off.

"This IS my dirty little secret! Sorry you had to find out this way!" She responds, emotionless.

She could see the redness in his eyes

Yet, it was a mixture of betrayal, anger, and hurt

The members along with the leader were subdued

She looked at him once more,"Guess this is it, huh? Big Red?"

"I ain't ya 'Big Red!' He snarled. "Not anymore!"

The tension even made Leonardo feel awkward

Donnie already had the police ready to apprehend the group, saddened that one of them was his brother's girlfriend

As they left, Leo was gonna say something, but Raph cut him off

"Shut Up, Fearless. Just leave it alone!"

They all watched as Raphael picked up speed, leaving them in the dust

Donatello

He didn't expect to get a girlfriend, with his brain clouded with science and gadgets

Nothing could have prepared him for what he discovered that night

After screwing into the break of dawn, she crept away to take a call

The call lasts for a while and he knew she had to go to work soon

He carefully sneaks behind her, overhearing your conversation

She was angered by a drug deal gone wrong, giving an order to retaliate

Donnie growled.

The call ended and she was met face to chest to her about to be former ninja turtle lover

"So this is work? What are you?"

Sighing, she spilled her guts to him

Revealing that she is a leader of the local gang that's been responsible for mugging, grand theft auto, and arson

She even showed him her gang's colors

Donnie was seething,"And you're dating me? Knowing my job?"

She couldn't bring herself to look at him. "This is MY life! I had no choice!" She argued

"There's always a choice!" He retorted.

"What now?" She asked.

"Now, we turn you in to the police! Let them deal with you!" A voice came from behind. Leonardo, arms crossed, disappointment all over his body

Rather than fighting thoroughly trained ninjas, she surrenders

Donnie retreated to his room, locking the door

Raphael and Michaelangelo gave her faces that she never wanted to earn.

She tried to do one and lead the other. Not a smart choice.

Before she was taken away, Leonardo gave her a warning

"You broke our trust and my brother's heart! Consider your relationship dissolved! Think hard about what you've done!"

She was led away, a single tear ran down her cheek, just as one ran down Donnie's behind closed doors

Michaelangelo

He was so happy, he looked insane

Finally his chat up lines are no longer going on death ears

His own girlfriend! He was so over the moon that he nearly neglected your late night 'shifts'

He wanted to surprise you at your apartment with a pizza date night

He arrived quickly, noticing your window was ajar

He heard a male's voice inside with you

At first he thought you were being unfaithful, the the bomb dropped

"Your da leader of the Purple Dragons, girl. I'm ya 2nd in command. We gotta make a move. Tomorrow!" The punk said before slamming the door

Mikey dropped the pizza on the ground, devastated

As her back was turned, he appeared

Abruptly she was met her former lover's saddened eyes, a tear nearly falling

"You're a gang leader and ya didn't tell me!?"

The tone in his voice stabbed her heart, guilt became her new friend

She reached for Mikey's face, he jerked himself away

"This doesn't work for me! I can't do this....."

"Mikey......wait!"

As quickly as he came, he disappeared completely

Immediately, informing his brothers. Telling them what he found out

"Ya gonna be alright, bro?" Raph asked out of his brother's well-being

"I'm good, bro. There's plenty of fish in the sea."

The call ended. Even the other turtles knew, that Mikey's heart was shattered

Idk if you've already done this, but have you done how they would deal with panic/hard feelings?

I haven't yet! This one is interesting. I focused more on panicking/fear but I'll make another post for hard feelings, how they act when they're mad, etc. I was thinking about the 03 turtles when I wrote this mainly but it's sort of just my head canons for the turtles in general.

Leo:

I feel like when Leo panics, it's less visible. You might mistake his panicking for just general stress but in his mind he is losing it.

He'll get pushy and impatient.

He'll be anxiously pacing.

When he's starting to panic he starts desperately trying to keep track of everyone in his mind. His head will be darting around in all different directions because he's trying to keep tabs on everybody

In general though, I think Leo is good at keeping his head when he's panicking. He is able to filter out what is important at the moment and what isn't.

And I feel like Leo's panic response sort of hits after the situation has been dealt with. He will handle it in the moment and then the second it's over, he snaps.

His habit is bottling things up until he explodes.

After a high stress situation, Leo needs to be alone. He'll go some place private and just let it out. He won't do this around other people except maybe Splinter.

I could see after a particularly bad mission, he comes home and after everyone's been taken care of he goes into his room and cries for a good half hour. I feel like it would be kind of cathartic for him.

Or he starts replaying the situation in his head and spiraling into what-ifs.

It helps him to talk the whole thing out with Splinter.

Raph:

When Raph is afraid he gets snappy and jumpy. He'll be visibly on edge and probably pretty irritable.

When he is full on panicking I think he would enter a blind rage. Not out of anger but as a fear response. He'll start desperately attacking whatever the threat is. He loses his judgement pretty quickly.

The more panicked he gets the more impulsive and aggressive he gets

Also, notice how some iterations of Raph (I'm thinking bayverse and mutant mayhem) start making heartfelt confessions when he thinks they're all about to die? I feel like that's a Raph thing. In moments of high stress all his pent up feelings just come flooding out.

I think after a really high stress situation, Raph becomes pretty mellow. Also he'll get really tired. He might get upset about the situation again later but in the moment he'll just be exhausted

Afterwards, I could see Raph wanting to spend some alone time, but I could more see him wanting other people around. He'll want some quiet company. He might not say much but he'll stick around the room where everyone is. I think it would comfort him to just be in a mundane and safe environment with everybody.

Donnie:

When Donnie is scared he starts rapid fire thinking of solutions. He shuts everything else out and tries to laser-focus on whatever he's doing.

This makes him block a lot of stuff out and he might not notice or respond to things. He'll blank out for a second and go into his own head but eventually he'll snap back.

When he's panicking, and it's from something he can't solve or analyze, like something flying directly at his head, he'll freeze.

He might start overthinking or over complicating things. In really bad cases he'll be over thinking something so much he'll forget really basic information.

Donnie has the patience of a saint but if someone rushes him when he's under pressure he will obliterate them.

After a stressful situation, Donnie becomes a bit reserved. Like Leo, he'll start replaying the situation in his mind. He'll think about how he could have prevented it, if there will be any repercussions, if he did a good enough job, etc. He'll be a bit jittery and restless. He'll start bouncing his leg or shaking a little.

When he comes home he starts looking for a distraction. He'll be so in his own head he'll need something to distract himself from his own thoughts. He'll immediately start working on/researching something.

Mikey:

If Mikey is afraid, he will say so. Even if he is completely alone he will still say so out loud. He'll get jumpy and easily startled. He also uses humor to mask/cope with fear.

When he is anxious he fiddles with things in his hands, especially his nun-chucks.

But if he picks up that everyone is panicking, he'll force himself to calm down and become a bit more level headed. He'll become unusually serious and focused on whatever they're doing. He also might try to calm other people down, particularly Leo and Raph.

When he gets anxious he'll start slipping up and making stupid mistakes, and then he'll get insecure about those mistakes and start to spiral even more.

When he's panicking he gets flustered and frantic.

Afterwards he might be a bit shaken but he usually comes back down pretty quickly.

He likes to be around people afterwards. He's usually the one to lighten the mood and I think he purposely makes an effort to do that.

He'll be pretty good for a few hours but I think when he goes to bed or is by himself it will hit him again

Sometimes he'll read a comic or play a game or do something fun to get his mind off things

Yellow! the poll regarding the “how 2003 turtles react to crushes” ends tomorrow, I’m very excited to write the next piece on whoever you guys voted☺️🌟

But Before I dive into that, I was wondering, would you guys be up to a turtle x reader (I was thinking about a Donnie x reader, but maybe there’s someone else who fits the scenario better and I’m not seeing? I’m all ears for opinion about this) over reader yearning and pining for the turtle for years? And not being able to confess?

I know usually in TMNT x reader scenarios it’s the trurtle who yearns for the reader, but if I may, I’m gonna open up a bit here (will add it under read more cuz it’s a bit personal lol)

I unfortunately have a tendency of falling for people and not telling them, it’s completely my fault, I’m aware of that. I had to “endure” seeing people I have fallen for fall for others and I just. Stayed, watched, helped them through their relationship problems, I know no one is entitled over someone, but it has happened so many times, every year it grows harder to say something, to fight for my shot (on two occasions it happened for years. Seriously years on end, until my friends had to pull me away from those friendships cuz it was doing more harm than good)

the amount of heartbreak that goes along with rotting for someone happiness (in this kind of situation) is something people don’t talk about. To be quite frank, It’s a pathetic thing to go through, to hold it in for so long, but after a while you start to believe you aren’t made for love, you don’t deserve it, you will never been seen, yadda yadda. recently I have decided to try (emphasis on try) to change that kind of perspective, but it’s hard dealing with those….reminders. the constant feeling I shouldn’t even bother on giving myself an opportunity, you know?

And then I thought, why not try to work those feelings into a fanfic piece so people can cry with me about it? :D

Do u think Raphael ever genuinely thought about all the past episodes and always wonder what would’ve happened if he did something different

I mean it’s canon Raphael had thoughts about being worthless before so i always wonder if Raphael feels that way due to how others treat him or because of the past episodes(I also think this could happen because of turtles forever with the way 03 raph treated him and his brothers) I don’t think Raphael is the type to be insecure right away but rather sensitive when it comes to emotions

Then again I could just be wrong and Raphael is a mystery of a character haha
