October 10, 2024 - Pale-headed Rosella (Platycercus adscitus) Found in parts of northeastern and eastern Australia, these parrots live in woodlands, cultivated areas, and shrublands. They primarily eat the seeds, blossoms, and fruits of a wide variety of plants, foraging on the ground and in trees and shrubs. Breeding from February to June in the north of their range and September to December in the south, they nest in cavities in trees, stumps, or fence posts, frequently near water. Females lay clutches of three to five eggs and incubate them alone. They sometimes hybridize with other rosella species.
