Okay so I made this as a start to some references for my wings AU and to show off some key details to my designs for them!!

The most obvious ones being the added toes(talon) to actually properly grip things, and the talons themselves.

Other details to note (though more common) would be:

Slightly pointed ears, pin feathers, and tail feathers.

Also Damian is a fledgling still so his wings are still under developed, soft and downy. He mainly glides rather than flies, meaning he still relies entirely on grappling lines.

I have some more details I'd love to touch on, such as how each of the batfam works with capes and masks, but I have to finish sketching and detailing stuff like that rn!

I’ve been working my way through vampire novels of the African diaspora and posting mini reviews on twitter. I wanted to read more diverse representations of vampires after watching AMC’s Interview with the Vampire and what really stands out is how few I can find- while 2 of these have been published just this year 1 was first published in 1819 and as you can see there’s only a handful. Of the ones I’ve read, my favorites are Immortal Dark by Tigest Girma and House of Hunger by Alexis Henderson.

Alright, so I finished my current read, (which I will not be counting on this challenge since I read most of it in 2024,) so I'm going to be starting @batmanisagatewaydrug's 2025 Book Bingo.

First up is for the 'In the Aughts' square, and I'm choosing Octavia Butler's Fledgling.

I've wanted to read more Butler since Wild Seed, and I got this two years ago to read on vacation, (along with Giovanni's Room by Baldwin, which I did finish,) and didn't get to. Now that I've freed myself from the Book Mines and reading no longer feels like work, it's time to pick this up again. I'll update this post with a review after I'm done!

Just finished IWTV Season 2, and look, I understand that Daniel and Armand are endgame in the books (which I haven’t gotten around to actually finishing the books, I made it to the Vampire Lestat…)

But it must have been HORRIFYING for Daniel to be turned the way he was. Last thing he hears of Armand is “If you touch him, I’ll kill you,” and then when he returns home he gets turned by that same guy. Part of that process includes draining the new fledgling. Daniel must have thought he was dying.

Why do so many people just pretend that it wasn’t awfully traumatic? Like yeah, being given The Dark Gift is just that, a gift, but even Lestat has scars from his making.

These pictures are terrible but I was so happy to see a new generation of long-tailed tits/stjärtmesar this evening. There was a whole bunch of them, perhaps ten fledglings and several adults. Hopefully I will be able to take better photos in the next few days. Värmland, Sweden (June 15, 2024).
