I saw a tiktok about Ron yelling at Hermione and embarrassing her in public (he would never), and Draco punching him in the face and I am so. Tired.

Like. We’ve already established that once Ron is committed to his relationship with Hermione, he’s peak husband material. He’s lovely. Househusband extraordinaire. But the idea of Draco Malfoy beating him up???

I like Draco as much as the next person, but we need to acknowledge that he’s a lil bitch. Every time he pisses someone off, he eats shit. Ron beats that twink into the ground on the regular. Come on people, let’s be real.

I love Ron’s arc in the books. He had to face his fear of arcanaphobia to help his best friend, deal with the betrayal that his pet rat was actually a murderer who faked his own death.

Coupled with his insecurities about his family’s financial situation and feeling like a second fiddle to Harry whilst trying to work out his feelings for Hermione. His arc saw a lot of bravery, self discovery and realisation that he’s as good as anyone else.

He works hard to win Hermione’s heart and he does win it eventually. Ron Weasley isn’t a running gag. He’s a person with a journey.

idk our stance on stranger things (i’m not watching the new season when it comes out) but i desperately need fics of the core five like don’t get me wrong, steve and eddie are an interesting couple/duo but i need fics of will, mike, dustin, lucas, and max, also need fics of jonathan and nancy because they were nearly ruined in s4 and i cannot have that actually

this is also me asking for golden trio centric fics because i’m not going to rewatch the movies but i can’t find any good golden trio-centric fics that don’t include drarry or dramione (free my girl 😞) and good jily fics because they mean so much to me and i unfortunately cannot stand the current characterization of the Marauders

Gwen's Character Development

Can we just discuss how Gwen's character development is one of the best, if not the best in all the show? I know her character is not exactly accurate to the books but I kind of love the fact they're giving a girl that was initially so unlikeable so many chances for redemption. It feels believable as a redemption because it spans gradually across the seasons and years and Gwen doesn't immediately find it easy to change or sometimes even remember the lesson she was meant to learn in the first place. It's also so interesting to me that her changes at the start of the show when she's younger began as major corrections for stuff that is more obviously wrong (like stealing things from her form) to things that initially seem petty and small (like her laziness), traditionally right (for example her siding with a major authority figure in season three), or even relatable (like her anxiety about failing her exams). It's like her character is being finetuned as she ages and becomes more aware of herself and I genuinely love it so much.

I also love that each time she is genuinely pushed to develop as a person, she sees the consequences her actions have on the feelings and well-being of the people around her, specifically the people that she loves, and it's then that she becomes the one to push herself to change, not because anybody else is doing the inner work for her. And while we're on the point of her seeing the effect of her choices on her loved ones, can we look at how many people she's come to slowly care for? The Gwen at the very beginning would've never dreamed of even associating with a gardener's assistant like Ron, let alone kissing him and developing feelings for him. She would've never dreamed of burping a baby especially not her teacher's, and she would've probably kicked Alicia for even getting close enough to call her a "pretty show pony" (lmao) and touching her ribbon. I find it so touching that she's developed a community of people she really cares for, even if she won't admit it, and has widened her view on which people are worth admitting into her life beyond just being wealthy, privileged and powerful.

But the main thing which makes her and her development so appealing to me is that she never loses her personality like so many characters across media do once they've been redeemed. No, Gwen will always be Gwendoline Mary Lacey at the end of the day and that's what arguably makes her one of the best in the show: she never loses the essence which draws you into her in the first place.

fanfics in progress

I have so many ideas and so little time to flesh them out the way I want to.

I'm working on 3 different stories right now. I love all 3 of them. I'm excited about all 3 of them. I want to do all 3 of them justice.

Trying to find time to do that? Yeah, not going so well.

And maybe I also need some motivation and encouragement. I keep plugging away in fits and starts, but maybe I could be more dedicated if I knew there was interest?

But here's what I'm working on right now. See if any of these ring your bell.

I always come back to my first love. I'm working on a Daniel/Vala piece. I adore these 2. I want to chronicle not just the beginning of their relationship but also them having and working through issues. I'm as guilty as anyone of getting them together and then just ending the story as they ride off into the sunset for "happily ever after." I'd like to focus more on HOW you maintain that happy ending.

A Ron Weasley piece. Kind of an "It's a Wonderful Life" piece. Ron comes to the conclusion that everyone's better off without him. A magical device allows him to see just what the world would look like with no Ron Weasley by Harry's side. I'm trying to think through all the ways that would change things, starting early on.

A Chuck fanfic. I haven't played in the Chuck universe much. And I'm in the minority, but I absolutely love the character of Bryce Larkin. I want to delve into his thoughts, feelings, emotions a bit. I believe he absolutely loved Chuck. He didn't always do the right thing, but I think his motivations came from a place of love. And Chuck and Sarah (both of whom I adore, and I do ship them) make mistakes but fans forgive them, because they know they love each other and their motivations were good. I think Bryce his similar and would like to flesh that out more. Yes, he botched things sometimes, just like Chuck and Sarah botched things. But he was trying, because he loved, just like they did.

Hey there, again, everyone, a little update coming!

So after having the polls up and running along the interest form, the Ace Week is going to run a bit later than the actual Ace Awareness Week (22-29 October). To give everyone a bit more time and organize the event more thoroughly, we decided to shift it to exactly a month later - 22-29 November. Hopefully, those dates will suit more people better.

The interest form is still open and will remain open until October so if you have any suggestions, you can still add them here. There are still small revisions going on the blog - nothing major, just rewrites that will clarify some messy wording, etc.

As per the polls' results, we're keeping one obligatory theme a day. However, we'll now have both a (non-obligatory) pool for additional prompts for the whole week and (also non-obligatory) separate prompts for each day - word/sentence prompts, AU prompts, genre prompts, and dialogue prompts included.

The current list of prompts is here and a shortened version is below the cut - instead of revising it, the list will be expanded.

Day 1 - Micro Labels [as a reminder, this does include demisexuality and graysexuality, but also smaller labels like fray- or aegosexual, etc.]

Also also, after the truth comes out about Petter Pettigrew when Harry is speaking with Sirius about moving in with him and there' the smallest blint-and-you'll-miss-it moment where Hermione's tending to Ron's leg and he's AB-SO-LUTELY milking how bad his injuries are because of all the attention he's getting and "oh my god, she's touching me".

Hermione: Ow! That looks really painful. Ron: So painful. They... they might chop it. Hermione: I'm sure Madame Pomfrey can fix it in a heartbeat. Ron: It's too late. It's ruined. It'll have to be chopped off.

Like. C'mon.

How Ron's always the first, and only, one to notice Hermione's missing, before using the time-turner to get to class, on multiple occasions (I love how this implies he always worried about her wellbeing because of how un-Hermione it is to be late for class)

Ron: When did [Hermione] come in? Did you see her come in? Ron: When did [Hermione] get here? Ron: Hang on. That's not possible. Ancient Runes is in the same time as Divination. [Hermione'd] have to be in two classes at once.

When Lupin transforms and Ron's first reaction, no matter how terrified, is to instinctively pull Hermione back

Hmm awfully close you're sat on that bench, guys! Also, where's Ron's right hand???

They're presumably multiple 'dates' to Hogsmeade without Harry, and how we get the tiniest tinge of Ron's appreciation for Hermione's fascination with the Wizarding World

Hermione: Did I mention its the most haunted place in Britain?  Ron: Twice, I think. Hermione: Oh. Do you want to move closer?  Ron: Huh?  Hermione: To the Shrieking Shack.  Ron: Oh, no. I'm ok here.

I just realised...

In the Prisoner of Azkaban film, there’s that legendary scene where Hermione punches Malfoy (she slapped him in the book, but details…). After Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle run off, Hermione looks a little awkward and slightly embarrassed about it. 

However, then Ron says that it was brilliant. Hermione starts grinning like, well, a love-sick schoolgirl. Because the boy she’s crushing on just told her she was brilliant.

It’s very sweet, and a nice Romione moment in a film that, by-and-large, was pretty horrible to Ron in general. Credit to Emma Watson and Rupert Grint for this scene- nicely done, guys.
