Like. We’ve already established that once Ron is committed to his relationship with Hermione, he’s peak husband material. He’s lovely. Househusband extraordinaire. But the idea of Draco Malfoy beating him up???

I like Draco as much as the next person, but we need to acknowledge that he’s a lil bitch. Every time he pisses someone off, he eats shit. Ron beats that twink into the ground on the regular. Come on people, let’s be real.

I love Ron’s arc in the books. He had to face his fear of arcanaphobia to help his best friend, deal with the betrayal that his pet rat was actually a murderer who faked his own death.

Coupled with his insecurities about his family’s financial situation and feeling like a second fiddle to Harry whilst trying to work out his feelings for Hermione. His arc saw a lot of bravery, self discovery and realisation that he’s as good as anyone else.

He works hard to win Hermione’s heart and he does win it eventually. Ron Weasley isn’t a running gag. He’s a person with a journey.

i've been putting together any songs that remind me of harry, hermione, and ron. this is for multiple different things, like romione, the golden trio's friendship, and harry, ron, and hermione's individual characters, and more. I've been posting the songs i've had so far one by one everyday, and i put the reasoning (they can span from a simplistic random thought to a detailed/extensive purpose) for each one. if you want to add anything you can reblog or comment with suggestions and reasons. these aren't limited to one genre, so sorry if it looks like they are. also this might feel a lil bit cringy. feel free for any criticism or additions.

mainly this song relates to her for her academic overachieving tendencies, and her perpetual insecurity of always being different and sticking out.

i originally tried to write a little scene compilation based on this song. I'm actually thinking about finishing that. but anyway this made me envision hermione before hogwarts when she was like maybe 8-10 years old like before she got her letter, maybe a scene where she's still getting ridiculed and bullied in elementary school even before knowing she's a witch. also "pulling out my hair" just makes me think of her frustration with her bushy hair too. this could also lowkey go with harry too, considering that even though the wizarding world was a a place he could finally belong in, it was also a world that made him go through so much trauma. so was he really "meant to feel happy" that his life would go through so many changes the day he got that letter? i wonder if you ask him now if he would go back or not, what he would say. the "pulling out my hair" part also makes me think of his perpetually messy hair and the scene where he unintentionally grew it back when he was scared of going to school practically bald.

specifically i'm only gonna talk about the beginning of these lyrics that say that the speaker pretends to be satisfied but isn't truly content. now i think of how maybe hermione believed initially that all her knowledge and excessive studying would automatically be enough, but she grew through the years to learn it takes more than that. it reminds me of the line in the movie where she goes, "me? books and cleverness? there are more important things. like friendship, bravery," you know? the rest of the lyrics could maybe connect to how hermione consistent and persistent with her hard work while most times almost everybody around her said she was being excessive and a know-it-all. it could also relate to ron always being laid-back and making jokes when he really has billions of worries with his friendships, his marks, with his feelings for hermione, etc. but idk.

this HAS to be self-explanatory bro. although i don't really see hermione as the bossy type. this is also random but the beginning where it says "it's my problem" also makes me think of a scene that probably happened at least once where ron might've said it was "her fault she's so stressed/overloaded (especially in third year)" because of all her overachievement

:(( this makes me think of her first year again (obviously ignoring the smoking and drinking) like y'all really don't know how it feels to be a girl with no friends crying in a school bathroom bc of how much u don't fit in i kin her so bad. also one thing i don't connect hermione to this song with that i have to make clear, i don't think hermione is an overachiever for satisfaction but because she genuinely just wants to. she wants and needs to explore and involve herself with as much of the wizarding world as possible. i say that's valid, especially if you're a muggleborn girl, you should do everything in your hands to make sure you get a place in your world, and ESPECIALLY in a time of voldemort. that kinda reminds me of how important knowledge and education is in a fascist world (America is going to shit i had to say something.)

idk our stance on stranger things (i’m not watching the new season when it comes out) but i desperately need fics of the core five like don’t get me wrong, steve and eddie are an interesting couple/duo but i need fics of will, mike, dustin, lucas, and max, also need fics of jonathan and nancy because they were nearly ruined in s4 and i cannot have that actually

this is also me asking for golden trio centric fics because i’m not going to rewatch the movies but i can’t find any good golden trio-centric fics that don’t include drarry or dramione (free my girl 😞) and good jily fics because they mean so much to me and i unfortunately cannot stand the current characterization of the Marauders

Gwen's Character Development

Can we just discuss how Gwen's character development is one of the best, if not the best in all the show? I know her character is not exactly accurate to the books but I kind of love the fact they're giving a girl that was initially so unlikeable so many chances for redemption. It feels believable as a redemption because it spans gradually across the seasons and years and Gwen doesn't immediately find it easy to change or sometimes even remember the lesson she was meant to learn in the first place. It's also so interesting to me that her changes at the start of the show when she's younger began as major corrections for stuff that is more obviously wrong (like stealing things from her form) to things that initially seem petty and small (like her laziness), traditionally right (for example her siding with a major authority figure in season three), or even relatable (like her anxiety about failing her exams). It's like her character is being finetuned as she ages and becomes more aware of herself and I genuinely love it so much.

I also love that each time she is genuinely pushed to develop as a person, she sees the consequences her actions have on the feelings and well-being of the people around her, specifically the people that she loves, and it's then that she becomes the one to push herself to change, not because anybody else is doing the inner work for her. And while we're on the point of her seeing the effect of her choices on her loved ones, can we look at how many people she's come to slowly care for? The Gwen at the very beginning would've never dreamed of even associating with a gardener's assistant like Ron, let alone kissing him and developing feelings for him. She would've never dreamed of burping a baby especially not her teacher's, and she would've probably kicked Alicia for even getting close enough to call her a "pretty show pony" (lmao) and touching her ribbon. I find it so touching that she's developed a community of people she really cares for, even if she won't admit it, and has widened her view on which people are worth admitting into her life beyond just being wealthy, privileged and powerful.

But the main thing which makes her and her development so appealing to me is that she never loses her personality like so many characters across media do once they've been redeemed. No, Gwen will always be Gwendoline Mary Lacey at the end of the day and that's what arguably makes her one of the best in the show: she never loses the essence which draws you into her in the first place.

fanfics in progress

I have so many ideas and so little time to flesh them out the way I want to.

I'm working on 3 different stories right now. I love all 3 of them. I'm excited about all 3 of them. I want to do all 3 of them justice.

Trying to find time to do that? Yeah, not going so well.

And maybe I also need some motivation and encouragement. I keep plugging away in fits and starts, but maybe I could be more dedicated if I knew there was interest?

But here's what I'm working on right now. See if any of these ring your bell.

I always come back to my first love. I'm working on a Daniel/Vala piece. I adore these 2. I want to chronicle not just the beginning of their relationship but also them having and working through issues. I'm as guilty as anyone of getting them together and then just ending the story as they ride off into the sunset for "happily ever after." I'd like to focus more on HOW you maintain that happy ending.

A Ron Weasley piece. Kind of an "It's a Wonderful Life" piece. Ron comes to the conclusion that everyone's better off without him. A magical device allows him to see just what the world would look like with no Ron Weasley by Harry's side. I'm trying to think through all the ways that would change things, starting early on.

A Chuck fanfic. I haven't played in the Chuck universe much. And I'm in the minority, but I absolutely love the character of Bryce Larkin. I want to delve into his thoughts, feelings, emotions a bit. I believe he absolutely loved Chuck. He didn't always do the right thing, but I think his motivations came from a place of love. And Chuck and Sarah (both of whom I adore, and I do ship them) make mistakes but fans forgive them, because they know they love each other and their motivations were good. I think Bryce his similar and would like to flesh that out more. Yes, he botched things sometimes, just like Chuck and Sarah botched things. But he was trying, because he loved, just like they did.

ron's envy of harry's fame and praise, and hermione's intelligence and skill. hermione's strong feeling of being the odd one out, the excluded one, the one who didn't make friends as fast. especially in first year, but it continues as she's always ridiculed for being a 'know-it-all' when she doesn't want to be forced to restrain her eagerness for knwoledge. this harry in his pre-hogwarts stage. he was excluded EVERYWHERE HE WENT, i don't think we talk about that enough. no child should be so frequently lonely or scared in elementary school or home. hogwarts was really his only escape. i also think this applies to how he's always wanted a family and a place to belong, and ron had all that.

:( self-explanatory. ron always feels like the odd one out because he initially didn't feel worthy or 'special'. he probably always felt like he was compensating for something. how harry felt in fifth year when everybody thought he was a mental freak and a liar for saying voldemort came back. this is probably also how he felt with all of voldemort's visions making him think he was becoming like him :( how hermione felt in first year (and continous later years), with my previous point.

i relate to this so bad, which is why i am a ron weasley kinnie. i think of this as his more deeper thoughts, because YES he wanted to be noticed and recognized and i know he hopes the other two don't see him as just 'the odd/dumb one' they keep around and rather as someone they remember and love. i also think of sixth year with this. we know he only went with lavender because he felt like hermione didn't even consider him as an option as soon as he heard that they allegedly snogged, and because he was the only one 'unexperienced'. i also think of hermione in fourth and sixth year with this. she was waiting so long for ron to notice her, just to figure out he didn't even acknowledge she was the opposite gender until it came til the last second for a ball. and in sixth year i know she also felt so embarrassed when she tried to ask ron out to slug's party, and then he turns out and treats her coldly without telling her why, and snogs another girl in front of everybody. :( so yes i am also a hermione granger kinnie. i KNOW she felt like she wasn't enough, and she was somehow doing something wrong for ron to spend 2 years 'not noticing her'. i've also read a lot of fics of hermione being insecure of her body compared to lavender's. (or at least based on the portrayal of hermione and lavender in the books) i don't have anything for harry specifically, if you have any thoughts, let me know! only thing i can think of is his moment at the end of fifth year where he had an outburst with dumbledore saying that "he wanted out" and he didn't "want to be human anymore" related to "i don't care if it hurts, i wanna have control".
