Okay, so I'm listing my all-time favorites below (mostly on FFN since it's been YEARS since I've been plugged into this fandom).

As for my stuff *buries head* this ridiculous ass fic that I wrote when I was FOURTEEN is my main claim to fame (it's trash but also still kinda slaps?). BUT I'VE BEEN WORKING ON A TON OF NEW STUFF. I have six fics coming out this month through the @romione-trope-fest (btw the best active Romione writers are participating in that fest, so you should definitely follow it if you haven't been already! Here's the AO3 collection for the fest.).

ALSO I saw that you are a Renaissance fan. I have one that's 50% done called "Virgo's Groove" (EDIT: it's here!) and it takes place in the seventh book when Lupin announces Teddy's birth. I can share a snippet tomorrow if you'd like 🙂

Seven Simple Years by HalfASlug (FFN): Best Romione missing moments series ever. I think HalfASlug has the best Ron voice. Everything she's ever written for Romione is worth reading.

Moments by Armaysha (FFN): Another missing moments (I'm a sucker for those) that I feel kind of mixed about, even though it's still one of my favs. The writer has a different take on Romione than most of the fandom. It generally works IMO, but some of the choices she made I really didn't understand. But what she did well, she did really, really well.

I Must Not Tell Lies by TMBlue (FFN): I think this is the best one-shot of Romione's first fuck. TMBlue is GREAT at writing Ron and she's like the queen of Romione smut.

Six Foot of Ginger Idiot by Pinky Brown (FFN): This classic is HBP from Ron's perspective. Pinky Brown is another iconic Ron writer. You can't go wrong with anything she's written, but Biscuits (her missing moments series starting in Book 1) starts dragging in the last few chapters IMO.

Australia by MsBinns (FFN): Post-war series, arguably the greatest Romione fic of all time. To be totally honest, I didn't finish it because it does kind of drag. But I'm always meaning to get back into it. Just know that it's heavy.

Love Me Forever by Aloemilk (AO3/FFN): I JUST read this and I can't stop thinking about it. It's a post-war series that has a great mix of angst, trauma, and fluff (lighter than Australia). The slow burn from Romione's first kiss to a full-fledged adult relationship is perfect and the smut is SO GOOD. Reminds me of the time I stumbled upon porn that made me ugly cry (in a good way?)

Not single fics but thesecondself and realmer06 (both on FFN, although realmer06's next gen stuff is also on AO3) are my favorite one-shot writers.

I'm so happy to be sharing this on the deadline I set for myself, which is today, Hermione's birthday, 9/19/24. As a very new fanfiction writer, who is committed to enjoying this hobby as long as the muse is with me on it, I had marked a handful of bdays of some of my favorite characters as occasions to post fics this year. It's been a nice way to stick with projects and put some artificial pressure on myself. Originally I was working to release a piece based around Hermione getting a belated Moon Party thrown for her by the Gryff girls. Moon parties are typically thrown for young people when they start menstruation if their friends and/or families are into that sort of thing. I'm still working on that fic but I did quickly push pause on it last weekend when, at 2 AM, after letting myself indulge in almost a full day of writing a different fic, I had the seed of the idea for Ranking the Weasleys and cranked out a very formidable first draft in 2 hours. (Yes, this means I went to sleep juuuuust before the sun was preparing to rise. Worth it.) When the words flow, you go with it. It also happens that I'm participating in The Weasley Clock Discord's Bingo Collection (Event? Fest? Bingo-Thing?) and this covers my square for "Ginny Weasley" quite nicely!

- - - - About Fred, George, Bill, and Fetishizing War Wounds These are some initial thoughts I had on the subject and is in no way a comprehensive analysis of the topic.

I wasn't expecting to discover that Fred's battle injury and recovery included him using a wheelchair for the rest of his life in this story but it came out in the writing process. I thought deeply about how, in many Harry Potter fanfics, we see examples of fetishizing elements of people's injuries or hardships (I say this in a non-judgemental way. I truly was pondering it.) If you read Dramione, think about how Draco's Sectumsempra scars are sometimes described. "Scars are sexy" is often a thing in our fandom (and in real life for some!) and it paints a complex picture of attraction, reverence, and attractiveness in a shorthand, accessible way to many readers, from writers. Especially when writers are writing from inside the private minds of characters, the characters are allowed to have thoughts that may not be appropriate or sensitive to others' identities, sense of self, language preferences, etc. It's why many of us love reading fiction; we get an intimate look into the messy, imperfect, and sometimes illicit thought processes of characters. It can be enthralling. But, for this particular, shorter one-shot, I wanted to try to be consistent about how I approached how Hermione was objectifying and trash-talking the characters for many things they either had control over or were core parts of their developed personalities. But what about George's gold ear? I thought about this too. Yes, Hermione thinks the ear is "very fun and cheeky," but she's not into how he's missing an ear or saying that she is attracted the prosthetic because it's a prosthetic or symbolizes a trauma he went through-- my intention was for her to make a comment on the choice of it being solid gold. The opulence of the ear prosthetic was a "fun and cheeky" choice of George's. I hope that came across. I deleted a whole section about how Hermione found Bill to be sexier after his attack from Greyback, not because of the injury but because it changed his mindset about how he wants to protect others.

I couldn't make it work without it being clunky and preachy, so I cut it. I wanted to make sure Bill's scars and the effects of a werewolf affliction weren't portrayed as a turn-on in the very same piece where I was trying to navigate a sensitivity and neutrality to Fred's use of a chair. Sometimes it IS best to "murder your darlings," amiright? I'll admit, I fell in love with Fred in this fic and how he's hot and cold with Hermione, even though he's pretty successful in the dating field with other wixen. Maybe this fic will inspire something longer [shrugs]. I grew fond of some of the implied backstories that grew out of this absolute brain-barf I was seemingly compelled to type out through tired, tired eyes. - - - -

A while ago, I drafted a post ranking all my favorite Hermione/Weasley sibling ships, and it was nice to have such a hefty post pre-written that fit in with all this. It was likely the base of the fic I would write-- cooking along on the back burner of my brain until it was ready to served out. I have the lovely, lovely pleasure of being a beta-reader for AyletMagnusB, who has just posted the first chapter of Choices on ao3!

It takes place post-canon, so the characters have grown up and had kids. It mainly follows the Golden Trio, but it tells a story of how the Wizarding World would have dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Please check the tags, though, to see if you're comfortable with them, as there is Graphic Depictions of Violence and MCD. It's rated T and the main ships are Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione.

Harry wasn’t sure what he’d expected from a dinner date and sex-planning meeting. Sex, he supposed, was what he’d expected. And a whole lot fewer calendars.

Hermione was laying on the floor with a massive desk calendar and four neon highlighters. Ron had pulled a fucking tome out of his backpack that had the store’s employee schedules, shipping schedules, sales rotations, events and maintenance.

Harry felt woefully unprepared for this summit. He had this weekend off, so he worked next weekend, and that’s about as far ahead as he planned. The weeks that he worked the weekend, he had two weekdays off, but he generally forgot when they were till the day before, or he just went ahead and showed up at work. He was not feeling terribly adult at the moment.

Malfoy had been quiet through the schedule comparisons. The only conflicts he offered were a parole check once a week, and Ministry summons as assigned. Ron had scoffed at those.

“So, if we can find some patterns in where your days overlap mine, I can plan out through January, when my term ends,” Hermione said to no one in particular, or possibly to herself. Harry thought she was having way too much fun with her calendar.

“My whole life is pretty much fucked last week of August through mid-September,” Ron muttered, scratching his beard. “And then quite a bit of September is restocking after the start of term.” The annual Hogwarts rush was the most lucrative few weeks of the year, but it owned him. Sleeping on his office floor was the glamorous life of a proprietor.

Malfoy had grown bored and a little envious of everyone’s terribly important and busy schedules, found a box labelled “Books, A-F, 2005”, and was busily snooping. Her damn cat kept throwing himself underfoot like he wanted to be stepped on.

If he were to be honest, the only routines in his life were seeing Eira at the library and fishing. Granger had apparently kept, had shipped, and alphabetized her textbooks from 2005 by the last name of the lead author. Which meant she had the lead authors’ names memorized. Terrifying.

“I could always come to the store and defile your office desk,” she offered with a wink. Ron grumbled something about not trusting her to try and organize it.

“I work that weekend around the start of term. And have remote investigations… sometime?” Harry added.

Malfoy was idly thumbing through a copy of something about patriarchy and family structures, which looked an awful lot like an alternate title could be “How to Be a Shitty Pureblood Wanker”. It wasn’t a bad way to pass the time while waiting for Granger to realize she was coming up with a schedule against her own interests.

To him, the reason a woman would request “male company” for a weekend a month was glaringly obvious. She’d realize her error soon, if she pulled her head out of her calendar.

“Granger, can I borrow this?” he asked, hoisting the massive hardback book up so she could see it.

She had a dab of neon pink highlighter on her lower lip, where she’d tapped the tip while deep in thought. It was more than a little adorable. “Yeah, sure.”

He heard her mutter something about it being an odd choice for a Malfoy. He hefted the book in his hands, a scowl appearing as he realized the book was too big for him to carry home in his talons.

Ron had taken over most of the couch with an impressive array of spreadsheets. Without looking up, he pointed a quill at Malfoy. “Malfoy, I guess that’s your weekend, then.“

Malfoy’s patience had run out. “Granger, you said a weekend a month,” he clarified.

Hermione looked up from her ridiculous calendar. “Right.”

“Total. Not with each of us,” he stated.

“Oh… right.” She looked down at her technicolor opus in dismay.

“Did you mean just any old weekend every calendar month, or say, a very specific 48 to 72 hours every 28 days or so?” He avoided her gaze, trying to drive his point home with some delicacy.

Hermione thunked her forehead down on her calendar and swore under her breath. “Hel’s bells. I can’t erase all of this.” Ron and Harry looked at each other and shrugged, not sure why it felt like their planning had been entirely scrapped.

Malfoy took Hermione’s chair and sat down with the book. “So, 28 days, regular?” he asked, again trying to tread lightly into the topic.

“Like clockwork,” she grumbled, forehead still on the marred calendar. He could grant her a mourning period. It had been a masterpiece of color-coding.

He was a little disappointed Ron and Harry hadn’t caught on to the slight diversion in topic. The book on patriarchal oppression practically winked at him from his lap, and he shrugged.

“Alright, Granger, what day is today?” he asked gently.

Ron and Harry perked up at the prospect of a question they could answer, and simultaneously blurted, “The 18th!”

Sitting up cross-legged and glaring at her calendar, she pulled her phone from her pocket and checked it. What a waste of paper and highlighter and effort and organization, she thought. Playing schedule chess had been fun. So fun, in fact, that she’d forgotten the original purpose.

“Day 11,” she replied. She sighed, and ripped the heavy page off the calendar, crumpling it angrily.

Malfoy smiled at her little outburst. “Calm before the storm, then.” His smile zapped away as he flinched at Crookshanks clawing up onto the back of the chair and settling on his shoulder.

She shrugged noncommittally, throwing the wadded paper nowhere in the vicinity of the bin.

“Would anyone like to explain to poor simple Harry and I what the fuck you’re on about?” Ron asked, getting up to retrieve the paper ball and depositing it in the bin.

“I’m not simple,” Harry muttered to the ceiling, his head laid back on the couch. “I’m... uncomplicated. It’s different. But yeah, what on earth are you two talking about?”

Hermione had really wanted to just be able to ask these damned men for sex when she wanted sex, and that be it. Why was it so much more difficult here than in Perth?

Her strategy had worked up until this point in her life, and she was finding it a strange flavor of humiliation to have to admit to men she fancied that she mainly fancied them during a specific part of her cycle.

What she was trying desperately to avoid was letting any of them know how devastating her sex drive was for those few days. It was all she could think about. Food and sleep went by the wayside as often as not. She’d actually begged off sick from exams multiple times to stay home and get herself off for entire afternoons. Her schoolwork had suffered, for Merlin’s sake.

“Oh, honestly, Ron, you’re one of seven! You ought to know these things!” she snapped, her embarrassment overriding her patience.

“Babies?!” Ron shouted, his face stricken. “Oh, hell, no!”

“Stupid git,” Malfoy muttered, inspecting the index page of the book. “Nobody’s making babies, Weasley. Just helping with the… drive.”

“Oh, thank Godric!” Harry said, collapsing back down against the couch. “You all scared me there.”

Malfoy shook his head, disappointed in his fellow menfolk. For as much as they likely built their lives around fucking, they didn’t seem to understand some basic biology.

If he didn’t know better, he’d swear the damn cat was reading over his shoulder.
