I genuinely believe that when it comes to gift-giving, just saying what you want is cheating. Gifts are a way of communicating your ongoing awareness of a person---a good gift says ''I have been paying attention to you in a hundred moments, all the off-hours and sidelong comments, and this is what I learned," while a bad gift is "idk, I got you this, it was expensive."

Smitten has more capacity for doubt than you think.
To get to the Damsel chapter, you’d have to cast away your thoughts of doubt and fear and to fully believe that the Princess is innocent. The blade was dropped in front of you when the Princess is biting her hand off. You have to make a choice and choose whether you should believe that she’s harmless or not. You chose to cast that doubt and fear away in order to continue believing that she is harmless, and is just a princess being desperate.
And here comes Smitten, who is committed to believing that she is a perfect being who can do no wrong. And that they are destined star-crossed lovers.
And within a lot of circumstances, he has shown that he has the capability to doubt and acknowledge something. But he chose to ignore it possibly out of fear.
He acknowledges that MOC is cruel, and yet he continues to believe that she will give them an ounce of kindness. He acknowledges that the Princess is a ghostly being in Burned Grey, but chooses to believe that she is still alive and well. Because the alternative of the Princess, the only other person he’s ever known, not loving them, is way worse. That means he would be alone.
That’s why he broke down so much in Burned Grey. That’s why he continued to have faith and believe in the Princess even though he really shouldn’t have.
(And realising it as I’m writing this, THAT’S why Shifty describes Damsel as “You’ve moulded her to love you”)
It’s likely that he is doubting himself and his actions in HEA. But he chose to ignore them. For the sake of making you two happy.
(Also also, a lot of voice parallels packed in here)
(Mainly Cold, Skeptic and Opportunist)
(Cold because while Cold ignored and numbed down his doubts in order to do what needs to be done, Smitten ignored his doubts in order to continue believing what he believed in—the Princess being innocent)
(Skeptic cause while Skeptic let his doubts cloud his trust even if he really want to believe in something, Smitten cast those doubts and questions aside in order to trust and believe)
(Oppy because both Smitten and Oppy’s actions are rooted in fear—Oppy in a more primitive/personal safety sense, while Smitten in a more emotional sense. Both ultimately doesn’t like the idea of being alone.)
A little tangent here but it still fits with what I’m talking about: Smitten’s actions here reminds me of those of faith. Those who truly believe what they believe and are genuinely very devoted to it. Smitten having a breakdown is almost equivalent to a person of faith realising the flaws and cracks of their religion and then starting to lose faith in it. That would be a terrifying realisation, that knowing that the religion that you believe in and had based a majority of your identity is rooted in lies.
It’s not like you haven’t doubted those ideas before. You just pushed those ideas away because every person in your life had told you that those ideas are the right way to live. And so you listened.
But to then have those doubts be confirmed??? That all of those fears in your heart have been right??? Of course you’re gonna crash out!!!
(And here we have Broken-Smitten parallels. Both had put faith into something. Broken is more like a believer who had joined a faith due to him feeling insignificant, while Smitten feels like someone who was raised to be a believer and is devoted to his belief despite the many doubts that he repressed)
(Edited to have this cause I have a stupid idea. Ignore this)

dnd is NOT about the art of collaborative storytelling and it is NOT about playing pretend with your friends. dnd is about one incredibly mid joke that gets made in session one that you reference minimum once a session for the next 3 years.

hi d20 people! Specifically those of you who has watched all of mismag s2 so far. Would you mind spoiling it for me?
Specifically about Evan’s death, how it’s handled and how it affects the plot. I lost a family member not long ago and watching media with death and grief is a tricky area atm, especially with d20 as their shows tend to be my comfort shows.
So just any details are appreciated, how did the cast handle it, was there a lot of shown grieving, is he alive again, what happened afterwards etc etc.
Thanks!

right i haven't seen anyone talk about this just yet so
when Fifteen sees the standard tabletop dice on Rogue's table and asks if his name is a reference to Dungeons & Dragons
this proves that the doctor knows about D&D and holy shit I want to see that Time Lord at the table
Rogue's completely perfect "roll for Insight" in response ;u;

Let me tell y’all something.. Zac Oyama maybe play characters with low intelligence scores, but he is SO good at pulling threads together and remembering information about the lore and making connections and figuring things out
Gorgug especially has been really great at making connections and asking the right questions. (That’s why the boy increased his intelligence score in sophomore year)
I’m wondering what the implication of the energy attacking Cassandra being the same thing as what Lydia is keeping in her chest? Do we actually know what it was Lydia was fighting with her adventuring party? Will we find out more? Does Lydia use her own rage to keep it subdued or is the energy created by rage (eg Cassandra’s anger at Kristen)?

i love dnd mechanics as a representation of the narrative, because it’s one thing to know in-game that the mighty nein are terribly suspicious when reuniting with essek in eiselcross, and another experience altogether watching the entire table shout INSIGHT CHECK over one another the moment essek says anything

deanna seeing and recognizing ashton’s sharp worry for fcg immediately because she sees it in the mirror every day traveling with frida and instantly just knowing to trust them is so important to me, and likewise ashton recognizing her internal conflict on sight because they spent so long lost, knowing she was helping all their family while they weren’t there and offering her this one affirmation and a hug (ASHTON. OFFERED HER A HUG. ashton “don’t touch me if you don’t know me” greymoore OFFERED HER A HUG) to reassure her that whoever she wants to be is enough is SO SPECIAL TO ME!

Whenever an episode has Lwaxana guest-starring I start filled with dread, for she is the most second-hand-embarrassment-generating person I’ve ever seen. By the end of the episode, I am filled with glee and soft fluffy feelings because Lwaxana is also the coolest lady I ever met.
This happens every time. Every. Single. Time.
