Spluttering, Remus sat up in bed, drenched in sweat. A nightmare. But… real? Like a memory so traumatising it was ingrained into his brain, travelling back in time.

Sirius falling into the veil. Death by Bellatrix’s hand. Bellatrix, cackling. Sirius, taunting. Back and forth until pain.

Remus resolved to keep Bellatrix far away from Sirius.

After watching Bellatrix for quite some time, Remus had come to one conclusion.

Bellatrix was obsessive.

Completely infatuated with Voldemort because he was a symbol of power, influential and corrupt. Bellatrix was drawn to immoral, wicked things because a good person would never survive her unfathomable levels of unadulterated obsession.

Now, all Remus needed to do was transfer that obsession somewhere else…

Someone ambitious, who would do anything to get their way and succeed. Someone malicious, who delighted in other’s pain.

Rita Skeeter was a bitch.

Remus grimaced at her biassed report against the Ministry of Magic, one which had angered Arthur Weasley immensely.

Bellatrix was after his blood. Remus may have insulted Voldemort within her hearing range.

Rita was scheduled to write another fabricated, scathing report about Harry, and she was staying in Hogsmeade, buzzing around nosily for information she could twist, for her or her audience’s pleasure?

Remus led Bellatrix right into Rita’s house, locked them in, and ran out of the back door.

When they came out, Bellatrix was lapping at Rita’s feet, their matching grins cruelly warped.

The nightmares of Sirius’s death vanished. Instead, he was alive.

Remus smiled, turning to wrap his arms around his lover.

“Mm,” Sirius hummed, pulling Remus in tighter, burying his head in Remus’s chest. “You’re back. How was your mission?”

“Saved the most beautiful person in the world,” Remus mumbled.

Sirius perked up, eyes narrowed. “I thought I was the most beautiful person in the world for you.”

“Yeah,” Remus smiled, pulling him back down. “You are.”

Sirius frowned in confusion, shrugged, then snuggled back into Remus’s arms.

After the first wizarding war whenever Rita had the option to ‘interview’ Death Eaters in Azkaban she went straight for Bellatrix’s cell to see her lover

In Hogwarts they started talking because Rita was an eavesdropping bitch and overheard Bellatrix talking about Voldemort in their third year and fucking cornered her

Bellatrix always volenteered to help Rita with people who hated her, since everybody did, and Rita would refuse. Bellatrix didn’t care though, whenever someone looked at Rita the wrong way she hexed them or Cruicoed (?) them.

Toxic separately radioactive together, not very much to each other though 

Rita learnt her first unforgivable from Bellatrix but silently vowed she wouldn’t use it

Bellatrix learnt peak journalist skills from Rita which helped her greatly after she left Azkaban (even though she could barely remember them, or Rita for that matter)
