I’ve seen a bunch of theories about the snow witch that hinge on the assumption that her name is Renna, but what if Renna was never actually supposed to be her name?

what we know about the snow witch, or snowy crone, is that she was a weird old lady in the woods who taught the young Ranni heretical cold sorcery, and wore the pointed hat and robe Ranni wears now. Ranni’s doll body is said to be “modeled after” her… but it cannot be a perfect 1:1 impersonation of her, because Ranni doesn’t look like a “crone” at all!

Rather than an attempt to fully impersonate the snow witch, I think Ranni’s doll body is more of an homage to her old mentor. and with that in mind, I think that the name “Renna” might also be an homage to perhaps the most important mentor in Ranni’s life — her mother.

I think it’s very fitting for Ranni to use her new persona as a way of maintaining her connection to her teachers after she slew her physical body and abandoned her previous life. though Ranni is accused of being cold and unfeeling, she’s actually very sentimental — her co-conspirators are her closest childhood companions, her base of operations her childhood home. she still loves her mother and defends both her body and her legacy. she died wearing her mother’s talisman. wouldn’t it be sweet if she chose to call herself Renna out of love for Rennala?

the riot fest lineup is also hilarious for geoff rickly specifically. headlining is the band that first truly got him deeply into music because his friends' hot older sisters liked them and he wanted to impress them (the cure). under them is the band with the guys from atdi who played in geoff's basement in the 90s and were one of thursday's biggest early influences (the mars volta). also at least one or two other bands who played geoff's basement back then actually (h2o, quicksand i believe?). then geoff's favourite ever band when he was in college, who publicly "bashed" him in 2003 by accusing him of plagiarism, which upset geoff so much he couldn't listen to them for a while (godspeed you! black emperor). his current favourite new band (high vis). his own band (thursday). and the other band that includes not only his drummer but also the bassist who has barely toured with thursday in over a decade but now can't seem to stay off the road (ls dunes). oh and they all fucking slap.

I just got out of my pill shrink appointment and she, the best doctor on the planet, had the brilliant idea to send off the refill request at the beginning of the appointment, and then call them while on the line with me at the end of it to make sure it gets through

And. It's so funny listening to a doctor chew out the poor insurance guy. "So this medication, which is not controlled, has no significant side effects, and is covered under your policy is being denied why?" "Bc he hasn't taken Adderall -" "he had a heart attack last month and has a history of strokes." "I see that note. I'm pushing it through for approval... it should only take a few days before it's sent off to the pharmacy" "And the Prozac? There’s a post with this screenshot going around and a few people have rb’d it with “recommendations” but uh. Looking over the titles and the provided descriptions it’s pretty clear that almost none of these are actually on topic. One comment that ran for several paragraphs was about Al Shabaab in Somalia, a bunch more about the U.S.-based Symbionese Army, another about the Tamil Tigers, and then after this, the recommendations descended into ‘women writing anything ever about terrorism, including the KKK’, eventually devolved books about women doing terrorism written by men at which point I started to download a copy of The Anarchist Cookbook

Do you realize you’re proving the original tweeter’s point to some extent? “I can’t find books by female authors on this SPECIFIC topic I’m interested in” and then you affirm that this is true by….not providing books by female authors on that specific topic(!!!) but with the air of someone who has successfully completed the assignment.
