I’ve officially decided my favorite relationship trope is “at first I was perpetually bothered by your mere existence but somewhere along the way you became my best friend and oh yeah I’m also in love with you.” Nothing else matters.

𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞
From this poll, this series is born!
a/n: this is changing the dragons from not just mount, but to being able to shift into a human-like form at will...
𝑺𝑭𝑾🌿
・In his dragon form, The Cannibal is larger than Vermithor, and three times nastier as well.
・With fire that breathed green, he seemed like an otherwordly creature to the people of Westeros.
・Once he was claimed, many came to see The Cannibal 'up close.' Crowds would form whenever you went flying; a sight that so many would tell their children, and their childrens children and so on.
・With sharp black horns that curled and protruded from the dragons head, he was terrifying.
・And you loved him.
・Many asked how you 'tamed' him. But that ... wasn't how it happened.
・Unlike many throughout history; he found you.
・And when he came snout to face with you, you did not balk. For dragons were your family's legacy. If you died by his flame, then so be it.
・The Cannibal sensed that.
・Maybe it was bravery. Maybe it was stupidity. Maybe it was the fact that you felt so alone that you did not care what may have happened.
・Your relationship with the Cannibal was different to other dragonriders and their mounts.
・You never chained him up and put him in the dragon pit.
・You gave him free range of the world. Just because you were tethered together did not mean that you owned him.
・For he was far older and experienced than you could ever be.
・The first time you saw your mount transform, you thought it was a dream. One wickedly wonderful dream.
・In his half form, he towers over you at 7.5 feet tall. With long onyx coloured hair partly braided, two glowing green eyes, pointed ears and a face so ... handsome yet scarred, menacing and well honestly a little terrifying. He looked like a death promise to those who look him in the eye.
・Some of his teeth are sharp as well, and he challenges anyone who looks in your direction.
・He's completely attached to you, because why else would he want to be around other people, other beings?
・His name? He was happy with being called Cannibal - but you told him he couldn't be out in society with it. So his 'human' name is: Vorzhul.
・The Cannibal/Vorzhul is very wary of others; as his time has been spent alone. He doesn't know how to converse with others without coming off as ... slightly crazy.
・That's one of the reasons why he becomes so attached to you. Not only because you are his bonded rider, but because he feels like his walls can come down.
・He can be quite funny at times -
・Particularly when he mind-speaks during something important.
・When you're feeling down, he reminds you that: "I'm eternally yours."
・So now you never feel lonely. Or that the world is against you. Because someone always has your back. No matter what you say or do.
・The knowledge that certain dragons can shift, is only known by certain people. High ranking people. Ones who have blood sworn not to tell another soul.
・One maester, your parents and the Hand of the King.
・Marriage is a difficult subject.
・Some shifters will allow their bonded to marry another. But not yours.
・Even if it is tried, he will turn into dragon form and eat those who come to marry you. And their families.
・So it is either, he marries you or a war will break out.
・When he's in his hybrid form, Vorzhul is able to understand English and High Valyrian. With some people he pretends not to know English and lets them talk shit until he responds.
・They usually excuse themselves (basically running away)
・When he's in his dragon form, he'll only take commands in High Valyrian though, just like every other dragon.
𝑹𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝑻𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒔
No Social Skills (The Cannibal/Vorzhul) x No Social Skills Either, That's Why We're Bonded (You)
Undying Loyalty x2
"Think they'll try us?" x "Fuck I hope so."
𝑹𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝑷𝒍𝒐𝒕 𝑻𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆
Found Family
Intertwined Destinies
Legacy and Legend
𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒎𝒆 𝑺𝒐𝒏𝒈
Do I Wanna Know by Arctic Monkeys
I Need You by James Newton Howard
Me and the Devil by Soap&Skin
𝑁𝑆𝐹𝑊 🔞 No one under the age of 18 past this point, makes me feel weird if you read it.
・As you would think, he is completely dominant in bed. Rough; hands gripping you tight against him, teeth sinking into your skin without a second thought.
・His tongue decided it liked the taste of your skin, and started moving further and further downward. And then he pushed your legs apart and devoured you until you came three times ... in a row.
・His animalistic nature could not hold off when he was with you - the suppleness of your skin, the way you trembled underneath his grasp.
・He laughed when you finally wrestled to sit on top of him, only for him to buck you off and roll you onto your back:
"You will have to try better than that little one."
・He felt primal around you.
・Like a peace he never had, had finally found him.
・And sex was more than pleasure; it was about connecting with you. Becoming one with you.
"Just let it stay in a little longer ñuha jorrāeliarzy (my beloved)"
You whispered back, "elilla (honey), you are too big, and it hurts."
He huffed and with a frown, slowly slid himself out of you.
"Are you pouting!"
"No."
"You are!"
"No I am not!"

Synastry Placements as Love Tropes
Enemies to Lovers: Mars in hard aspect (square or opposition) to Venus. This planetary configuration symbolizes the initial conflict and tension that often characterize the enemies-to-lovers trope, where intense attraction gradually unfolds amid a backdrop of emotional friction and passionate exchanges.
Friends to Lovers: Moon in harmonious aspect (trine or sextile) to Venus. Reflecting the gentle transition from friendship to romance, this aspect signifies the emotional comfort and rapport underlying the progression from platonic companionship to profound romantic intimacy portrayed in the friends-to-lovers trope.
Forbidden Love: Venus in hard aspect (square or opposition) to Saturn. This configuration mirrors the emotional constraint, societal barriers, and profound longing central to the forbidden love trope, where characters grapple with the complexities of desire amidst formidable obstacles and societal expectations.
Love Triangle: Venus in hard aspect (square or opposition) to Uranus. The disruptive influence of this configuration echoes the emotional turmoil and conflicting desires often depicted in love triangle narratives, where characters navigate intricate relationships fraught with unpredictability and inner conflict.
Soulmates: Sun in close aspect (conjunction) to Moon. This celestial alignment signifies the deep emotional resonance and profound connection characterizing soulmate relationships, exemplifying the profound sense of unity and mutual understanding embedded within the soulmate trope.
Fake Relationship: Venus in hard aspect (square or opposition) to Neptune. Reflecting the illusory nature and emotional complexities woven into the fabric of fake relationship narratives, this configuration captures the blurred lines between genuine affection and orchestrated pretense often portrayed in this trope.
Slow Burn: Mars in harmonious aspect (trine or sextile) to Saturn. This planetary configuration embodies the patient development and enduring attraction characteristic of slow burn relationships, where emotional growth and profound connection gradually unfold over time amid a backdrop of steady, deliberate progression.
Second Chance Romance: Jupiter in harmonious aspect (trine or sextile) to Venus. Signifying renewed hope, growth, and forgiveness, this configuration embodies the themes of redemption and reconciliation embedded within second chance romance narratives, where characters embrace a renewed opportunity for love and understanding.
Vampire/Human Love: Pluto in hard aspect (square or opposition) to Sun. Reflecting the intense power dynamics and existential challenges often portrayed in vampire/human love stories, this configuration captures the transformative and sometimes tumultuous nature of relationships entwined with themes of immortality and forbidden passion.
Opposites Attract: Mercury in hard aspect (square or opposition) to Jupiter. This planetary alignment embodies the interplay of contrasting perspectives and personalities central to the opposites attract trope, where characters navigate the intricate balance between differing worldviews and complementary qualities to foster a harmonious and dynamic relationship.

I love it when two characters are intelligent and capable separately but when they stand next to eachother you can see their braincells rapidly jumping ship
their iq goes into freefall if they are within a certain proximity to eachother
They brains crawl out of their heads and go on vacation if they get too close
They cancel out each others intelligence and they turn into two idiots who only have bad ideas
I luv them

I’m not sure it’s a well known YA series but I think about this one character relationship in the Fablehaven series a lot. I’m gonna skim as much context as possible for brevity here. Caretaker of a mythical creature sanctuary named Patton Burgess falls in love with a Naiad named Lena and he rows his boat out to the middle of the lake every day for months, years to take time to play his violin for her. Talk to her. Ask her to step out of the water for him. If he leans over the edge, she’ll capsize his boat and drown him. If she steps on land, she’ll turn human. And he’s simply polite and persistent and kind and loving while she mocks him, but eventually becomes warm to him. After a long, long time, she finally steps onto the land for him. It’s a really massive deal, like it’s basically utter taboo for her and she can never go back to her sisters in the water. But she does so willingly, and with love in her heart for him because she decides he’s worth it. They marry, they live well and happily together for decades, he passes away and she becomes a maid to future caretakers (and is generally a huge badass in a ton of other ways, led a very exotic life before the events of the books). Literally the sweetest old woman you’ve ever met in your life. Full of love and tenderness and warmth and everything you would associate with a kindly old maid who’s secretly a badass.
Events happen in the books and the misguided benevolence of the fairy queen has her reward the heroes by “setting everything back the way it was” before all the death and destruction, but it goes too far and changes Lena back into a Naiad too, back to the lake where she dwelled, back to her old ways of caring so very little for humans and their company. Our protagonists plead with her to come back. They beg her to remember their time together and the love she felt and expressed towards them. She laughs them off. She even laughs them off when they ask her to think what her husband would’ve wanted. To think about his violin. They try to play it for her. It could never be the same but they try because they love her. She says she doesn’t care anymore and doesn’t seem the slightest like she doesn’t mean it. She’s happy with her sisters again. Happy once more to drown our protagonists if they lean just a little too far forwards, something utterly unthinkable for her character before this. More plot happens and the situation in the sanctuary becomes so dire that a failsafe triggers and a memory of her husband Patton appears as a clone of himself from when he set the failsafe, ready to fix the dire circumstances as best he can. He learns what happened to his wife, what she’s been forcibly changed back into, how her feelings have seemingly irreversibly been changed back the way they were, and doesn’t even think twice before he calmly and confidently strides forth to the lake. He takes up his violin and rows out on the boat to the middle and politely asks her sisters if he can talk to her. When they decline and tell him she doesn’t care about him, he smiles and begins to play.
The air fills with music. The sisters panic and squabble, telling each other to stop her, that he’s not really there. Seconds after he begins playing, despite all the efforts of her sisters, she leaps from the depths and lands in his arms, changing back to the way she was. No hesitation, not the slightest fleeting doubt before tossing away immortality a second time just to be with him again. It took nothing more than the sound of his playing that she never forgot no matter what to bring her back to land. The memory of the love and happiness between them was simply that powerful that it could move her that way. And reader, that destroys me. Oh it tears me asunder I tell you. Can you imagine her in that moment? Peacefully ignoring all the worries and cries of humans she no longer gives a shit about. She’ll outlive all of them. And then music. Her heart begins to hurt and sing with a song it never forgot and she looks up, up at the sunlit shadow of a boat far above her. A heartbeat passes while she listens, it can’t be him. Even as she’s asking herself is it him, is that the music of the man I loved, she’s swimming. All doubts fade away just moments after she draws the slightest bit closer, she knows the timbre of her husband’s bow against the strings. Her sisters are trying to hold her down, to stop her, to drown her in her promised and now returned immortality and she doesn’t want it. She wants to see him again. All of this happening in less than a minute, mind you. That’s how deeply she missed him, long outliving him after he passed away forever ago. They can’t hold her. Nothing could stop her from reaching him in that moment. It DESTROYS me okay, can you imagine love like that? This memory clone of him was only around for 3 days and she gave up immortality just to have him back for even that long.
My favourite relationship trope will always be “no matter what’s happened to me, no matter what I’ve become, I will always return to you. Your scent on the wind, your voice beneath the din, your eyes in the light will call me back to you forever and always. There is nothing that is mine that I wouldn’t give up for you. There is no spell or drug or threat or lie or promise or heaven in all the world that could ever make me turn from you. I could resist you no more than the apple on the branch could resist your hand. Reach for me and I will tumble into your arms again and again.”
Sometimes I imagine my lover being turned into a dryad and what song I might sing to her to bring her back to me. Gods I’m too sappy for things like this, truly.

"She wanted you to know that if you were a shape, you were a straight line, an arrow". --- Leverage "The Stork Job" || Person of Interest "Return 0".
i love this type of relationship. i love you because of, not despite. especially when the other person has never had that kind of unconditional love.

One of the saddest things about growing up is realizing that you've passed the age where all of your favorite child characters found love and comfort in the form of someone older
And so you wonder, am I too old to be cared for in the way I should have could have been when i was a child? Is my only choice to be the one who does the caring? Is that why so many older characters care so deeply and reluctantly for younger ones? Because they were never protected as children? Because they had to carry themselves so now they will carry another?

betrayal is the juiciest most underutilized trope ever
that shit is so good if it's done right
like get two characters that are inseparable, written in the stars type shit, the two of them against the world, closer than blood, joined at the hip, a package deal
and then BOOM
betrayal
split up
never speak to each other again
it's fucked up it's evil it ruins both of them
you'll have one character ridden with guilt and regret, always replaying it in their mind, haunted by both the choice they made and the permanent lack of their person
and the other one is so shook to their core, if the person they trusted and counted on and leaned on more than anyone else in the whole world could do that to them, then how can they ever trust another person again
and they'll always be replaying it in their mind too, if there was something they could have done to prevent it
and even better
get the one who gets betrayed to see the signs, to know it's coming but write it off as anxiety or their own doubts and fears because the trust they've built with this person is stronger than that and they've actually come to believe their person would never do that to them and then BAM
their suspicions were right all along
and even better give both characters anxious attachment and abandonment and trust issues, give them childhood trauma from their parents and a lifetime of failed relationships that came before, make them believe they've finally found something safe and permanent and let them just be settling into it and trusting it and then rip it away
it's pure angst
tragedy in it's most perfect form
it's a canon event that could never have been avoided no matter what different choices were made
it's fate
it's death and rebirth and death and rebirth again, two broken souls coming together and becoming something new and beautiful together and then shattering into something grotesque and hollow and jagged and permanently scarred
it's so juicy
so angsty so intense so hurt/no comfort coded
it's delicious
