Yumei: fast and reliable food delivery 🤭
“Is that food?” Shiro asked, pointing at the large paper bag in Yumei’s hand.
Emi blinked at the bag. “Is that a takeout bag? How did you order takeout?”
“I stole it. I have no idea what it contains.”

in case anyone needs it like i did, a week or so ago i needed something to get over the post-acftl slump and got recommend to me "red winter" by annette marie for having some similarities (the couples dynamic did remind me of evajacks) and i just finished and even though i didn't like it as much, worked so well (and has a much better ending) and now i need something else to get over this new slump lmao
its a really fun story with japanese mythology and yes, its slowburn too
the only downside imo is the ugly cover. but there's gorgeous inside art that kind of makes up for it
just leaving the rec in case someone is looking for something like this

red winter by annette marie
«you’ll forget me someday, little miko.» his voice was even hoarser than hers, rough and coated in a hint of an animal growl.
«i’ll never forget you,» she told him. «i’ll remember you to my last day.»
«do you promise?»
her heart gave an odd little flutter. «yes, i promise.»

my favourite type of moments in MCU movies:
Iron Man trilogy: When Tony argues with Pepper
"I WAS ATTACKED!", "I'm not on my CYCLE PEPPER!", "I was gonna make you an omelet and tell you." "'We could've been in Venice' 'Oh please.'" "It's a big bunny, relax about it!"
Captain America trilogy: Bucky Barnes. Just Bucky Barnes.
1. Howling Commandos Bucky all dirty and grinning, or confused and concerned "I thought you were smaller" "No not without you!" "I had him on the ropes" 2. Winter Soldier ALWAYS, but particularly the knife fight. Also the way his metal arm rolls the bomb in that one scene. And weepy lost Winter "but I knew him" 3. Beefy Bucky!!! I'm biased for Romania plum picking Buck, the stubble and hat combo, long hair peeking out and that jacket barely covering his bulging muscles in the henley. And the way he stares at Steve in his apartment... oh sweetheart. He needs a hug so bad
Spider-Man trilogy: When Peter cries. His teary brown eyes 😭🫶 (ik I'm a freak mk)
"I lost the Stark internship" in the oversized shirt and hello kitty pjs, needing May to comfort him. Crying like a little kid when he's stuck under the rubble. FFH when he's in the night monkey suit and just his goggles are up and you can see how watery his eyes are when Fury is reprimanding him. NWH: God... too much really. Reaching for May as she dies. Breaking down all over again when Ned and MJ find him on the rooftop and hold him. That beautifully cinematic shot when JJJ is tearing Spider-Man apart for being ruinous and unsalvageable
Thor movies: Loki's smirk/cockiness
Every time he smirks. Loki shapeshifting in Dark World during their escape, especially as Captain America. Ragnarok when Thor tells the snake story from when they were kids and Loki's just sitting there smug in the corner
Avengers movies: The domesticity of the team + when mom and dad fight (stony)
AoU did domestic so beautifully. The after party, Clint's farm, bantering about Worthiness, Nat's humour "I thought you and Tony were still gazing into each other's eyes". The whole "language" bit. The compound, everyone living together. Shawarma. Endgame when they are figuring out time travel together, Tony teasing them for being idiots, Nat, Tony, and Bruce cuddling on a table discussing the stone locations. Stony making up, "I trust you".
Stony fights: "Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist" "I don't trust a guy without a dark side" "'she's just a kid!' 'gimme a BREAK'" "you're gonna come with us, now! Because it's us." "Don't bullshit me Rogers, did you know?" "No trust, liar."
GOTG movies: Rocket being a dad to Groot
When Groot sacrifices himself and Rocket holds the twigs from his body, being gentle with him and him only, Groot showing the picture he made and Rocket being proud, the entire scene of Rocket trying to teach Groot not to press the big red button, and the scene of trying to get Groot to bring Yondu's fin. Arguing with angsty teen Groot

What Superman Taught Me About Saving the Planet
Originally posted on my website at https://rebeccalexa.com/what-superman-taught-me-about-saving-the-planet/
Well, 2024 is just about wrapped up–and what a year it’s been! A lot of us find the holidays to be reflective as well as celebratory, and I think it would be fair to say that after this year a lot of us are just downright exhausted. That’s why it’s important for us to turn off the news and work emails and other serious things, and give ourselves some much-needed “brain breaks” as I like to call them. As I’ve been indulging in some time off during my winter break, it’s gotten me thinking about what attracts me to various fictional media and the characters within–and how I can never really escape the things that are most important to me.
Most of you all know me through my natural history work, but hang around me long enough and it becomes glaringly obvious that I’m a pretty big nerd, too. I play D&D and other tabletop roleplaying games a few times a month, my comfort movies include The Lord of the Rings trilogy and multiple Studio Ghibli movies, and I’ve enjoyed comic books since I was in my single digits. I started out with my sister’s old Archie comics and the compendium of Walt Kelly’s Pogo strips that I read near to falling apart every time we visited my paternal grandmother. I’ve since expanded to a variety of comics ranging from the past few decades of DC/Marvel superhero fodder to a hodgepodge of indie titles and even the occasional manga (lately I’ve been borrowing my best friend’s collection of Dungeon Meshi.)
What's all this have to do with nature and Superman and saving the planet? Click "keep reading" to find out!
Walt Kelly was also my introduction to political and social commentary, even if I didn’t understand a lot of it until I was older. (Image source here.)
As I’ve gotten older, I find myself revisiting characters I’ve been rather ho-hum about in the past, including the big three DC flagship heroes. Historically I’ve enjoyed the exploits of the Bat-Family (the Cataclysm/No Man’s Land arc will always be a favorite re-read), and Gail Simone’s fresh takes got me interested in Wonder Woman again. But Superman? The Big Blue Boy Scout? I hadn’t really paid much attention to him since Smallville was first on TV (though admittedly I did mock the ’90s mullet a few years prior). I haven’t gotten caught up on the Injustice years, in part because I heard secondhand how much the writers just absolutely slaughtered Superman’s characterization by turning him into an absolute totalitarian. And I haven’t been impressed by what I’ve seen of Zack Snyder’s edgy version of him, either.
To be very honest, I’m rather tired of the tendency to grimdark everything that started out as vaguely wholesome (*coughRiverdalecough*). I can appreciate that sort of subversion from an artistic perspective, but personally I’ve grown weary of tragedy, dystopia, and depressing endings. I guess I’ve spent so much time trying to keep myself buoyed up while working to make this world a better place that I can’t get into vicarious distress via media. Hence my leaning harder into Ghibli movies, re-reading Linda Medley’s Castle Waiting collections (my all-time favorite graphic novels!), and other stories that manage to avoid being saccharine while wrapping up with a happy ending.
So it’s no surprise that when this set of panels from Superman Red and Blue #5 first caught my attention a while back, I was intrigued. I feel that Daniel Warren Johnson–who wrote, drew, and lettered the story–really captured the heart of Superman as a character. In every thing he does, he repeats the words that Ma and Pa Kent raised him with from the first moment, no matter how difficult the situation. What people like Snyder often miss is that Supes isn’t just some overpowered, one-dimensional do-gooder in a black and white world. Sure, his earliest appearances in the likes of Action Comics had him beating up the bad guys, but his lore has been expanded since then.
He’s a being of two worlds; he’s had to balance his Kryptonian nature with his Earthly nurture. He came of age on a farm in rural Kansas, raised by two kind-hearted human beings who taught him compassion and responsibility, and helped him adjust to being one of a kind in a world that often punishes differences. He’s polite and kind, and more sensitive than he’s often given credit for. Like any superhero he finds himself having to make difficult decisions, and villains often use his compassion against him (like the classic “two helpless people are in peril–who will you choose to save?” trope, in which our hero manages to save them both). And he’s had to deal with morally gray areas, in which his desire to do what’s right comes up against the question of what “right” really is in that context.
I can relate to that conflict. When we’re kids, I think a lot of us buy into the black and white, good and evil, right and wrong dichotomy we’re fed not just because before a certain point our brains just have trouble parsing a certain level of complexity, but also because the adults in our lives want to protect us from life’s difficulties as long as possible, knowing what we all eventually have to wrestle with. The older we get, the more apparent it becomes that life doesn’t have a lot of easy answers, and situations are rarely simple. As a kid I was convinced all the loggers who wanted to cut down forests where the northern spotted owl (Strix occidentalis caudia) nested were evil, Captain-Planetesque baddies who just wanted to see the world burn. As an adult, I still disagree with the push to log old-growth and otherwise structurally complex forests because I have an even greater understanding of the ecological implications thereof. But I also have more empathy for my fellow human beings who are afraid of losing their livelihood with no easy replacement, victims of the whims of the market and logging company C-suites. And I have the knowledge to understand that domestic sawmill closures are complex and aren’t solely due to the protection of older forests and their endangered denizens.
But I think what I loved the most about Johnson’s panels above is that they show that Superman, born as Kal-El and raised as Clark Kent, never lost his roots in love. His coming to Earth was a last desperate attempt of love by his biological parents, Lara and Jor-El, to save him from a dying planet. And he grew up enfolded in the love of Martha and Jonathan Kent, which he carries with him into every action he takes as Superman, whether he is saving someone from a burning building, visiting kids in a cancer ward, or sharing pizza with a group of homeless people. When he looks upon the populace of Metropolis, and then zooms out to space and looks back at our blue marble of a planet, all he can think to say in that overwhelming moment is “You are special. I love you. I’m so proud of you.”
I know that can be a hard thing to say to our species at this moment in time, as our actions have caused the extinction of so many other species, destroyed their habitats, caused a catastrophic shift in the planet’s many systems. But my psych training is rooted in humanistic psychology, and Carl Rogers’ idea of unconditional positive regard–the idea that even as we hold people accountable for their actions we always extend compassion to them, and hold space for them to do and become better. And I’m also reminded of deep ecologist Arne Naess’ concept of the ecological self, which includes the parameter “We certainly need to hear about our ethical shortcomings from time to time, but we change more easily through encouragement and a deepened perception of reality and our own self.”
And I see that final panel of Superman–Kal-El–Clark Kent–floating in space, beholding the entirety of the Earth and experiencing its beauty and fragility and sheer miraculous existence in what has been termed the Overview Effect. He is embodying the very best of who we can be, creatures so immersed in our love for our fellow living beings and our beautiful planet that it directs our every action. Even with all the ugliness and violence and sheer, unnecessary horrors he has seen people enact, he still holds and embodies immense hope for a better future for everyone, human and otherwise.
And that’s my Superman, who cynicism and malice bounce off of like bullets. Sure, if you look at the character as just a one-note musclebound power fantasy wrapped up in spandex, he’s boring after a while; you can only have so much “beat up the bad guys and save the day” before it becomes rote. But that’s never who he was in the first place. While, like other characters, he will always be influenced by whoever’s writing him this time around, one of Superman’s most enduring fundamental traits is his perennial hope and optimism that no matter how dark things get we will still rally to make the world a better place. And if not letting Superman down is what it takes to keep me trying in the face of insurmountable odds, well, here’s to truth, justice, and a better tomorrow.

Since planet of apes trilogy is the winning vote and I am in the process of watching the third movie. Let’s start with small headcannons;
My reason as to why reason behind Caesar motives on peace and wasn’t keen on fighting the humans was not only for his kinds safety but also because will (his dad) was a calm and caring human.
I read somewhere that in the books Koba’s mom was a mistreated circus animal. Which made me think that maybe after Koba was born she may have tried to protect him and run away with koba. Like when bright eyes did for Caesar when he was born. But it ended with the same outcome.
In the first movie when Maurice mentioned he learned ASL from when he from time in the circus. I believe that he must have been either taught it by a caretaker working in the circus or he observed it from everyone that walked past his enclosure.
I feel like it is a long stretch but I feel that if raka was still alive and managed to make it to the second movie. He would have been a good bodyguard to Cornelia especially after Blue eyes, and Cornelius were born.
Cornelia and Lake would gossip about random things if a day feels particularly long. It would range from medical remedies to who is dating. But I believe it mostly depends on if they’re close or not.
I haven’t seen much in the first two movies but I like to think that Cornelia’s personality must have been the most sweetest and loving to all. But also she must have been stubborn and resilient especially towards Caesar. Since in the book it stated that she had challenged some of what he said at the beginning of their courtship.
Lastly winter is a character I don’t know much about but as far as I have seen. He must have been either easily influenced into helping like red donkey or winter may have been scared into helping the soldiers like he said. But I feel like the second option has not much solid ground to stand on.
Thank you for reading!! Be sure to send me more headcannons!

I think being a fan of InuYasha has awakened in me a craving for mythology series where it's always an adventure focusing on a human befriending/falling in love with a mythical person from the mythology. Doesn't matter what kind of media it is, if it's like InuYasha, I'm like "sign me up".
Like seriously, my favorite series aside from InuYasha are literally Kamisama Kiss, The Red Winter Trilogy, the Guild Codex: Demonized (not exactly mythology per se, but it's still a human x mythical person adventure series) and now I'm about to watch the Kdrama Tale of the Nine-Tails on Netflix. Literally InuYasha as a series has awakened in me a craving for the mythology fiction genre and I can't even be mad about it.
#i literally have no idea what to expect from this drama other than a romance#I saw someone compare it to Inuyasha and it was giving me Red Winter vibes so I kind of NEED to check it out#wish me luck!#was gonna mention Percy Jackson too but both Percy & Annabeth are demigods so its not really a human x mythical person relationship per se#but just know that's a favorite series of mine too#also I've also drawn to series that have time travel fantasy elements to them too bc of IY in hindsight as well now that I think about it🤔#there's Kamisama Kiss again. Faith/The Great Doctor. King Arthur and Her Knights. & apparently TOTNT also has a time travel 2nd season too?#I blame IY for this but I can't even be upset about it#inuyasha#kagome higurashi#inukag#kamisama hajimemashita#kamisama kiss#the red winter trilogy#red winter trilogy#the guild codex#the guild codex demonized#tale of the nine tailed#anime#books#kdrama#mythology genre#asian mythology#fantasy#human x monster#human x demon#human x mythological person#netflix

Movie Redo: Fixing Marvel's Thunderbolts*
Marvel's Thunderbolts* recently came out with a stellar trailer, watching some of our favorite MCU anti-heroes going through the motions while uncovering a mystery and becoming a team.
While many have praised the trailer for its style, action and tone, I have had some problems with the movie from the beginning. For one, the group Thunderbolts* tends to be villains pretending to be heroes as opposed to morally gray characters.
The movie tackles the spirit of this by having several characters fill in classic roles of the MCU Avengers: Yelena as Black Widow, U.S. Agent as Captain America, etc. But this stops at about half the team.
For example, we have three different variations of Captain America. Each are not Steve Rogers, morally gray super soldiers. The main difference is their range of comedic quips.
We also have two different variations of (basically) Black Widow.
This makes the lineup a bit stale power wise, and makes most of the lineup side Black Widow and Captain America characters.
While it makes entering the film easier, this doesn't give us the same feeling of "assembling" characters from the MCU like the Avengers did. The characters should come from many different projects as opposed to 2.
Finally, the team is made up of 7/8 white people. So in so many ways, this movie is suffering from a lack of diversity.
My goal is to liven up the team with characters across the MCU, villains and antiheroes alike. I'd like this team to:
Fill roles of the classic Avengers
Have a wide range of abilities
Reward long time MCU fans for watching along
Lets get started with an obvious question:
Who Stays & Who Goes?
While this group is full of some great MCU characters, too many unfortunately are redundant.
We will be saving 4 Characters, starting with:
1. Yelena Belova - White Widow (Black Widow / Hawkeye)
One of the smartest moves made by this movie is having Yelena be the lead. I love Florence Pugh, and one thing that can differentiate this team from The Avengers is having White Widow be the leader.
She is the clear and funnest Black Widow stand-in, so I will be choosing her over Taskmaster.
2. John Walker - U.S. Agent (Falcon & The Winter Soldier)
Of the Captain America knock offs, U.S. Agent is by far the most interesting.
No hate to Red Guardian's jokes or Winter Soldier's angst, but having a sad, broken not as good Captain America who is not a good man but a perfect soldier, there's so many ways you can go with it. He can be a traitor to the group, the eventual villain or just the guy who thinks he's the leader.
He is also the character we've seen least of the 3, and deserves his time on the big screen.
3. Ava Starr - Ghost (Ant-Man & The Wasp)
One of the most underrated characters in the MCU, Ghost was a highlight for me in the Ant-Man trilogy. With a tragic backstory, skills to match the Winter Soldier and an actual interesting power, I'm really excited to see where they go with this character.
Plus I love her new suit.
4. Bob - The Sentry (Thunderbolts*)
Lewis Pullman is playing "Bob" who is most likely Robert Reynolds AKA The Sentry, a Superman like superhero who struggles with memory loss, and has the power of "a million suns".
Due to the S in the trailer and his general confusion, Sentry will likely join the team, and his archenemy The Void will may even be the main antagonist.
As a powerful longhaired hero, he fills the role of a Thor for our Avengers, which is a definite need.
The mystery behind Bob as well as the inclusion of a new Superman like character is very fun. I do think a need for every MCU movie is an addition of a new interesting character, so Bob must stay.
Now that we have our 4 stays, let's make some fun additions.
5. Agent Dex Poindexter - Bullseye (Daredevil Season 3)
Agent Poindexter fills a couple of significant roles from the Avengers and from the Thunderbolts* who we took off the list.
Like Taskmaster, Bullseye is an assassin, who worked for a puppet master who is still very much alive and around in the MCU. But unlike many of the other killers on this list, he enjoys killing. As the teams resident sociopath, he can be the devil on their shoulder, egging the team on to go further than they have before.
He also nicely fills the teams role as their Hawkeye. The both have perfect aim, have taken on new identities to commit atrocities, and started off as law men.
It also gives all viewers great homework, because everyone should watch Daredevil.
6. Aaron Davis - The Prowler (Spider-Man Homecoming / Across the Spider-Verse)
The Spider side of the MCU has very much stayed in its place due to Sony. One character who has appeared in both Sony and Marvel, portrayed by the same actor I might add, is Aaron Davis.
Aaron Davis first appeared in Spider-Man Homecoming, and if we believe him to portray the same character in Across the Spider-Verse, has evolved into his role as Prowler now.
Prowler with his tech, claws, skills, and general goofy vibe, could fill the role of a Black Panther or Spider-Man for our group, and much like Spider-Man, be the ground level criminal entering this world of Assassins and Gods.
You can also view him as more of a thief than anything else. Like Aladdin or Star-Lord, fitting him into this team but definitely bringing a different perspective as opposed to Bullseye.
I see Prowler as a secondary lead character, one who has Yelena's back over some of the others, and hopefully makes it out of this mission alive.
7. Titania (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law)
Where there are Avengers, there is need for muscle.
Titania is one the secondary villains from Marvel's She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, notably played by Good Place actress Jameela Jamil.
Titania fills the role of a Hulk / Captain Marvel to the group as our resident strong woman, but also takes up Red Guardians role as comedic relief.
As a social media influencer and fashion icon, she'll bring a very different energy than our other two heroines. She also has the tendency to back whoever to keep herself alive, meaning she may team up with the worst of our titular team if there is a coup.
Plus I'd like her to dawn her wrestler outfit.
8. Justin Hammer - MACH-1 (Iron Man 2)
With many of the Avengers roles filled, all we need is left is a billionaire genius playboy.
Since his debut in Iron Man 2, Sam Rockwell fans have been clamoring for the actor to return as Justin Hammer. While we have inklings of him in All Hail to to King & What If, having Justin as comedic relief and the teams resident tech expert can add a different flavor to the team.
While Justin Hammer doesn't have an alter ego in the comics, he could take on the role of Titanium Man like he does in the animated show, Iron Man Armored Adventures.
My only gripe is the name is a little too close to Titania, so I recommend he takes on the name Mach-1, the alter ego of the Beetle when he joined the Thunderbolts.
While he is not The Beetle, he is still a villain pretending to be a hero, and several have taken on the name of Mach-1, so I think it'll be fine.
With just a few notable changes, my MCU team is now complete.
We now have heroes and villains from across the MCU, all with unique skills, powers, tools and motivations.
And once they all suit up...
They'll make one hell of a team.
Thank you so much for reading! Please consider following, and check out my socials and other sites here! And let me know: Who do you think should be on the Thunderbolts*?

Hi everyone, I hope you are safe and well! I haven't been drawing for a looong time but I'm finally back with the first sketch of the Tomoe from Kamisama I promised! I'm already coloring the digital version with background and will post it soon.
I need to tell you that I am reading Red Winter by Annette Marie, which is totally amazing and sleep depriving and gives off a lot of Kamisama and Inuyasha vibes. Very much recommended 🩵

wrong number smau ➝ fearmore
synopsis ➝ peer pressured by your group members, you ask a fellow idol for her number. but when you texted her that night, you realised that she wasn’t the person you were texting. what you didn’t know was that she gave karina’s, aepsa’s hotshot visual and leader, number to you.
profile 2 ➝ fearmore
『hi, we are LE SSERAFIM!』
LE SSERAFIM ➝ a 6 member girl group formed by Source entertainment, the group consists of members: sakura, chaewon, y/n, yunjin, kazuha and eunchae. their debut song ‘FEARLESS’, marked the start of their first trilogy, their concept is of being self confident and their strong will to move forward without being fazed by the world’s opinion.
sakura ➝ a japanese singer and actress based in south korea currently in the girl group LE SSERAFIM, first debuting in 2011 with the girl group HKT48, a concurrent member of sister group AKB48 from 2014 to 2018, before graduating in 2021. she was also formerly a member of IZ*ONE. y/n’s favourite, and a huge fan of Red Velvet.
chaewon ➝ LE SSERAFIM’s leader, lead vocalist and a former member of IZ*ONE. pretty well known in the industry, having many acquaintances but not many friends. has anger issues, a lot of it.
y/n ➝ LE SSERAFIM’s lead vocalist and rapper, was a fan of IZ*ONE before debuting, and a twice stan. a social butterfly, so she has made many friends in the industry even though she’s only been an idol for a short amount of time.
yunjin ➝ LE SSERAFIM’s main vocalist and participated in the survival show Produce 48 with sakura and chaewon. she grew up in new york and trained in opera. she’s a fan of Girls Generation and BTS, and close friends with aespa’s winter and ningning.
kazuha ➝ LE SSERAFIM’s main rapper and dancer, and trained in ballet for 15 years. she’s a big fan of BLACKPINK, and due to the language barriers, she isn’t able to make many idol friends.
eunchae ➝ LE SSERAFIM’s lead dancer and maknae, and a current co-host at Music Bank with actor Lee Chaemin. since she’s the youngest, she gets doted on a lot by her members. she’s close with kyujin of NMIXX, haerin of New Jeans and bahiyyih of Kep1er.

You have an unexpected extra day off work or school! What are you going to do? sleep in, maybe check out a cute cafe (because all cafes here usually close at 4 on weekdays and way too busy on the weekend)
What is your favorite way to spend a summer day? stay in the shade (because the sun/heat gives me migraines), check out cool shops, get ice cream or bubbletea, watch a movie
What is your favorite way to spend a winter day? stay inside, watch movies/read in bed, drink hot tea
What do you do to unwind at the end of the day? my skincare routine, read fics in bed until i fall asleep
Do you play any sports? nope
Other than fanfic, what is your favorite genre to read? i love asian diaspora lit and personal essays, anything that covers the themes of identity, family, displacement, etc
What is your comfort movie/tv show? i'm always rewatching a sitcom as background noise. i have a looooong list of shows that i consider comfort shows, but my all-time faves are community, bojack horseman, daria, new girl, etc etc. comfort movies hmm probably the ocean's trilogy, national treasure, mission impossible, red white & royal blue lmao i rewatch them a lot (shamelessly going to plug my letterboxd i swear i watch other cooler movies too)
Do you write or draw? write, i can't draw for shit
What other arts or crafts do you do? punch needle, pompoms
Describe your perfect breakfast: an iced matcha latte, a cup of seasonal fruits, bacon, either a glazed fruity/savoury scone or avocado toast or rosemary rocksalt bagel with smoked salmon and dairy-free cream cheese or eggs benedict. realistically for breakfast every day i just eat a banana or buttered toast lol
