to celebrate my journey to recovery here are some of the delicious foods that I ate over the last few months. because of my ed I wasn't able to enjoy them at the time, but I want to look back at these photos and remember how good it tasted and how glad I was to be spending time eating with a person I love, instead of seeing it and remembering all the shame I felt about food and my body.

In My Rose Garden is an uplifting blog to encourage and inspire people who have gone through serious medical procedures, such as amputation, mastectomy or lumpectomy, & life-changing diagnoses, such as cancer or stroke.
I compiled a series of 15 posters about the main benefits of the most prominent emotions that are raging when people receive adverse medical diagnoses that can change their lives as they know it today. Each emotion is important in your survival and to thrive towards wholeness.

Dear followers,
I am sorry. I have so many of you now. Well maybe just a tiny amount compared to some of the huge blogs, but I have more followers here than I have ever had on any other social media account, EVER. So, that being said, I'm sorry. I let you down.
I was two months clean and then guess what I went and did? I shot up. And how did it feel? Well first of all, it felt sad. Then, I'll admit it felt pretty damn good. But worth it? No. I feel guilty and depressed and... well, as low as you can feel while being high on meth tbh.
To any and all of you in recovery, this message is for you: don't pick up that next needle. Don't hit up that connect. Don't go get another stash. It's. Not. Worth. What. You've. Been. Fighting. So. Hard. For.
The end. Love you guys. Could use some positive words of wisdom today if anyone has some to share 🖤

FINDING YOUR WHY . Your why is an essential part of the recovery process It's what's going to keep you pushing forward in the times when you want nothing more than to give up It's going to remind you of all the reasons that recovery is necessary & what it means for your life It's going to be what makes you say, "F you!" to the disorder & have a slice of your own birthday cake Its going to be what stops your finger as it's headed down your throat Its going to be what gets you to put unmeasured portions onto your plate & add the extra guac . My WHY stemmed from an experience that really shook me One day it hit me that without a period or a properly functioning reproductive system that I might not be able to have kids... A lifelong dream of mine & of my partner I mentioned this to him & told him I would understand if he left, were it to turn out I was infertile He looked me in the face & said "I love you so much. Dont make me do that." & in that moment I knew that I HAD to fully recover . DO IT FOR THE BABIES became my little recovery slogan 🙈 . And whenever I would struggle I'd imagine running into him at a grocery store in the future with a family I couldn't give him All because I couldn't get over my fear of food & weight gain... Because my APPEARANCE meant more to me than the love of my life. . I'd let the reality of that possibility sink in And affirm that there was no way in HELL I was going to let that happen . Your WHY doesnt have to be big or involve anyone else It doesnt have to be elaborate Or mean anything to anyone but you But it has to be POWERFUL enough To pick you up from your lowest lows To give you that kick in the butt to keep going when you want more than anything to relapse Your WHY is your reason to LIVE . WHAT’S HOLDING YOU BACK? . Our behaviors stem from the thoughts that we think And the thoughts we think are usually a result of the beliefs we hold about ourselves, others & the world we live in Eating disorders come with a plethora of self-destructive behaviors Which stem from stories that the person suffering has on repeat These usually stem from a past trauma Or from conditioning within their family, friend group or society . If you were to think of the behaviors that make up the disorder as a flower bed of weeds These thoughts would make up the soil that they grow from . Below are a few of the most common stories that I hear from the women I work with: . I’m not naturally thin, so I have to restrict & workout in order to be skinny . I’m not interesting . I mess everything up . People won’t like me when I’m healthy . If I get better now, I’ll never be able to go back . Last time I did that ___ happened, so ___ . I’ll only be happy when ___ . I’ll never be ___ . People don’t like me . I’ve always been ___ . There’s nothing I can do to change ___ . It’s too late . I don’t have any friends . I’m not enough . I can’t ___ . That’s too hard . I can’t have ___ . I don’t deserve ___ . I’ve always done ___, so ___ . That may be true for them, but not for me . . A huge part of the recovery process Is identifying, understanding & healing the stories That are causing your suffering Doing this enables you to then create new stories for yourself That will set you free from the shackles of the disorder And produce flowers instead of weeds in the beautiful garden that is your life .
