fuck all of you who decide to stay neutral. fuck all of you who decide to stay silent. fuck all of you who are not educating yourself about what is happening right now. fuck every celebrity that posted a notes app screenshot of empty words. fuck bbc and nbc and joe biden and the u.s and britain and nearly every western country and media outlet. fuck israel and zionists and privileged white liberals turning a blind eye. fuck all of you. israel bombed a hospital and hundreds if not thousands are dead and a father had to carry the PIECES of his sons in plastic bags because they were blown to bits. a resting place for journalists has now turned into a morgue. every day people are being killed and it’s being DOCUMENTED and you still wanna be silent and neutral and say this doesn’t involve you. your lack of humanity is vile and horrid and i hope you never know one moment of happiness the rest of your life.

Because if she had been with the mechs in the City there is not a doubt in my mind she would have been Persephone, what with the wealth of knowledge the Acheron would give her and the relatively cushy position (plus the heavy association she has with the color red). Twisters is so funny because we’re first introduced to the corporate sponsored tornado chasers and they’re just…a boring collection of dudes. Totally bland, with barely a single personality between them. And then in come the Tornado Wranglers: the hottest, gayest collection of exuberant fun-loving weirdos you could possibly imagine. And it’s like…gee I wonder who the good guys are.

#twisters #to be clear this rules and is also in the spirit of the original #the scrappy diverse little team of loveable weirdos vs the cold boring corporate assholes is a classic trope #like i too would switch to the fun tornado polycule instead of sticking with the evil guys who suck #i also genuinely love that they’re shown to be Real Americans who support their community and provide disaster relief #sure you could argue it’s propaganda #but tbh I’m all for a blockbuster that promotes community organizing and diversity in the American lifestyle #they’re so inspiring in their desire to help even the British journalist is moved to join them #the director Lee Isaac Chung wrote and directed Minari before this- a film everyone should see #and there’s plenty of connective tissue between that film and twisters (Tyler Owens is explicitly mentioned as being from Arkansas)

What I take away from the picture is that this is after Carmy gets out of the fridge...he notes Sydney is not happy and something clicks, not the breakup with Claire or the fight with Richie. But carmy knows Sydney is not happy, he 'failed' her and he gets to work, he tries to fix it, as he said about his family "sometimes they'd try too hard". And that's what it's about. His non negligible, making a new menu every day, getting the star, the unconscious grand gestures because he can't communicate with Sydney that she's the good thing he's not waiting to drop.
