On Heteromorphs and Heteromorphobia (Arc XIX - XXI-a, Star & Stripe to Final War-a)
Okay, so, I had intended to make one last post to cover through the hospital attack, but as my work week kept me very busy, the write-up on the hospital stuff itself is not finished yet. However, when I checked the word count on the S&S arc up through the end of what I had on the hospital--somewhat shorthanded notes on the first two chapters that would need considerable fleshing out, and bupkis on the second two chapters--I found it was already at seven thousand words, far over the four to five thousand mark I've been aiming for per post in this series. So, this week's somewhat shorter post covers from where we left off up through Chapter 369, the last chapter before the hospital material starts. Hit the jump!
The Star and Stripe Arc (Chapters 329-334)
Chapter 329:
AFO explicitly pins the blame for Spinner’s difficult life on his being a heteromorph and notes that many in the shadows empathize with his cause, leading to an explanation for the Spinner fanboys from 318: Spinner is becoming the face of a movement!
Much of this stirring up of heteromorphs around the country is being done by the remnants of the PLF, particularly Spinner’s PLF advisors, who have been putting up posters about Spinner being the voice of discontented and mistreated heteromorphs, posters that also suggest a coming reckoning in grand language steeped in cult mentality: gather soon, liberation, fruition, neutrality is a sin. (And not just Spinner! The line about neutrality being a sin is from a set of posters about the tragedy of Toga Himiko, picking back up the tack Curious had wanted to take in using Toga’s story to realize Liberation.[1] It’s unclear whether Spinner’s advisors are also putting up the Togaganda or whether that’s being handled by some of the other remnants we’ll see later.) The beauty of this is that once heteromorphs are stirred up enough, they’ll be gathering comrades and spreading the word of their own volition, even to those with no contact with the PLF. Of course, the people ultimately behind this are Skeptic and AFO, neither of them heteromorphs, and both with transparent ulterior motivations, though Skeptic at least is still holding to Re-Destro’s ideology of Liberation and likely does view the subsequent mob activity as helpful to heteromorphs themselves, as opposed to the mere means to his own end of becoming the Demon King AFO has in mind. [1] And which Skeptic had once scoffed at, feeling Toga a poorly suited choice for that sort of mythologizing. I wonder if he’s just gotten more desperate or if he’s acceded that Toga’s just fine for bringing about Liberation provided that it’s Liberation à la Shigaraki Tomura?
But how about Spinner himself? Well, he looks unconvinced, to say the least. More on this later, when he gets more context on what the reader is already seeing.
Chapter 333:
There’s one lone heteromorph outside of Agpar in Star’s crew. He’s not a very extreme one—tall but not inhumanly so, with a snouty facial structure and long, upward-pointing ears—but he is still the only heteromorph I’ve yet seen in the default masses of a uniformed group of military-types. Like, BNHA’s masses of riot squad type cops are all baseline, the guards at Tartarus were all baseline, the probably-JSDF guys in the movie are baseline, and so forth. These folks are often wearing helmets, of course, so there might be some minor divergences scattered amongst them, but there’s only so much divergence that a helmet and full-coverage uniform will hide! Odd skin tones, yes, unusual eyes, sure, but not protruding facial features or anything other than very small horns, and divergent body plans are right out.
The U.A. Traitor Arc (Chapters 335-342)
Chapter 335:
All Might very conspicuously omits Spinner from the list of threats facing the hero side. In the moment, it reads like All Might doesn’t view Spinner as a threat. And sure, why would one random, weak-quirked lizard guy constitute a threat worth mentioning, right? Later on, we’ll find out that the heroes were trying to keep Kurogiri’s location on the down-low, so this omission may simply be an effort to avoid having to discuss the target of the mob that’s brewing by not bringing up the mob to begin with.
While I assume that’s Horikoshi’s reasoning for this scene playing the way it does, I do think there are some questions raised by later chapters that imply that heroes are underestimating the situation quite severely. To wit, it’s already known that the obfuscation has failed and an attack on the hospital is coming—even someone as removed from villain goings-on as the Ordinary Woman had heard about it, news which she relayed to Shouji. I can’t believe that Hawks and company wouldn’t have intel to match that, if only via also learning of the attack from Josei-san. If the heroes already know the hospital assault is coming, though, why on earth is it so under-defended? They can’t possibly be running the risk that an attack set to be led by a member of the League of Villains (as they might presume to be the case thanks to all the posters everywhere!) would choose to target the hospital at random, or that it’s just some kind of generic protest that won’t be trying to breach the walls—surely they must know the mob is coming for Kurogiri? But then why such paltry numbers of defenders? I can only assume that the heroes badly, badly underestimated how deep heteromorphic anger and pain ran, and thus equally badly underestimated how many people would show up for the attack. All Might, being part of that central group of planners, is also one of the people being proven deeply ignorant about, and dismissive of, both the suffering endured and the danger presented by the heteromorphs he knows are coming.
Shouji immediately picks up on the omission and indirectly challenges it when he says, “It’s safe to assume the list goes on,” which All Might deflects with, “Yes. They will likely amass more allies,” still not talking about who those allies are going to be. May I say, then, that if there’s any extent to which All Might doesn’t want to talk about this because he doesn’t want to field questions about why a mob of civilian heteromorphs might choose to ally themselves with the League of Villains, it doesn’t reflect particularly well on him.
Chapter 341:
Skeptic gives us the line that ties together every single crowd scene demographic we’ve seen over the course of the entire manga:
My vindication, let me show you it.
There are a few subtly different ways you could read this, so I checked with my translator sis-in-law about her take on it. She said that what Skeptic’s implying here in the Japanese is that, taken as a whole, a telling proportion of criminals designated as “Villains” are heteromorphs. That is, by inference, heteromorphs are overrepresented in Villain-level criminality. So why might that be? Well, look back at everything I’ve said through this whole essay to date: o Discrimination runs rampant in this society, from minor microaggressions perpetrated by otherwise heroic characters all the way up through dedicated, violent hate groups. Those facing discrimination may have reduced opportunity, thereby pushing them into harder choices, which may make criminality more difficult to avoid. o Heteromorphs make up a larger proportion of the population in seedy, rougher areas, suggesting they’re probably lower income, proportionally, than non-heteromorphs. Lower income means the necessity of facing harder choices, as above. o The very nature of heteromorphism leading to the laws being applied to them more strictly—for example, if a heteromorph gets into a fist fight with an emitter, the heteromorph’s very body being a part of their quirk may make it more likely for them to be charged as Villains for illegal quirk use than the emitter. (Think of something like Mandalay not thinking of Spinner as having used his quirk during the training camp, but him being categorized as a villain regardless.) o Bias against heteromorphs leading to the laws being applied to them more strictly. If the person in charge of deciding how prosecutors are going to handle an accusation against you, and they just reflexively don’t like the look of your face, or are even openly heteromorphobic, of course you’re more likely to get treated like a Villain than someone a baseline prosecutor more readily sees the humanity in. This problem in particular will self-perpetuate—more heteromorphs being prosecuted as villains means more cops begin to perceive them as inherently more prone to villainy. Skeptic doesn’t say outright that criminals who are designated as Villains are more frequently heteromorphs compared to baseline types who committed equivalent crimes, but it sure is easy to read as an implication! After all, why else would he need to specify “Villain-designated criminals” as opposed to simply one or the other? If all he meant is that heteromorphs make up a larger demographic percentage of criminals and/or of Villains than they do a demographic percentage in the general population, he could just say that. It would still imply that there’s some unjust reason for that, but “villain-designated criminals” means that he’s suggesting that the numbers are out-of-whack specifically at that intersection, the place where “criminal” gets modified to “Villain.”
He goes on to say, “No matter how hard heroes and the government have tried to illuminate our society, the light can’t reach every dark corner. Plenty of heteromorphs hold deep grudges against the so-called heroes,” referencing ideas of light and illumination that will come up again in the hospital attack. Most literally, we could say this refers to rural discrimination, far away from the advanced, “integrated” cities, and the way heroes cluster around those urban areas because that’s where the money and fame are at. But I think it can cover my points above, as well—think back to the purse snatcher from the first chapter, who got run down by a whole passel of heroes and then paraded around in front of cameras in a muzzle, like an animal, for—stealing a purse. Called “pure evil” by Kamui Woods for—blocking traffic? Gosh, I wonder if that guy might hold a grudge against heroes?
Spinner articulates what he was almost certainly feeling back when AFO was first talking him up in 329: that he’s average dude, not some messiah, that he’s only here for Shigaraki, not to serve a great cause. Still, Skeptic says, the common people are waiting for him; he’ll be the one to pull a trigger Re-Destro no longer can. The very perception that he’s someone average, Just Another Heteromorph Like Us That Got Tired Of It, is what makes him such an inspiring figure.
Chapter 342:
All the students in the little montage bidding farewell to people at U.A. are those whose parents we’ve met, all also there in the scene, with one conspicuous exception: Shouji is talking to the Ordinary Woman, who is most certainly not any relative of his. I grow more annoyed by her lack of a name by the chapter.
This chapter features one of the manga’s starkest examples of the dehumanization of villains: Uraraka’s dialogue about how it had never even crossed her mind to consider Toga Himiko’s circumstances and beliefs. Toga is, of course, a seventeen-year-old girl, only a year and a half older than Uraraka herself, and one who first went on the run at fifteen. They’re so close in age, even met over the summer, yet Uraraka only realized—truly understood—that Toga was “a person too” when she saw Toga crying. Further, when confronted when this realization, Uraraka’s instinct is to try to quash it, to assume that even thinking this way makes her some kind of villain-apologist freak, so she has to banish those thoughts by going out and staring at scenes of immensely traumatic destruction to remind herself of what Toga had a hand in and thereby banish her human compassion. This is not framed as being about heteromorphs, but just last chapter, it was laid out for the reader in black and white that heteromorphs make up an outsized proportion of “Villain-designated criminals.” Thus, in turn, they’re proportionally more likely than any other group to be subject to the dehumanization faced by villains, and here we see just how extreme that social conditioning is even in a nice, empathetic, thoughtful girl like Uraraka.
The Final War Arc (Chapters 343-369, for now)
Chapter 345:
Geten’s #3, a heteromorph right on the border between resembling an animal and just being weird-shaped (if anything, he looks more like a heteromorph based on a Pokémon), calls the heroes Mammonists, a term referring to followers of Mammon, a personification of wealth/lust for wealth.[2] Professional Heroism as HeroAca’s Japan practices it is an inherently capitalistic endeavor. It’s wildly commercialized, rewards competition before cooperation, and dehumanizes the human assets that keep it going, hero and villain alike. Calling heroes Mammonists, therefore, echoes Stain’s accusations, and recalls Mount Lady’s grin way back in the first chapter when she stole the kill” from Kamui Woods, all in the interest of fame, benefits, and government pay. [2] In the Japanese, haikin shugisha, literally “money-worshipper”; jisho even gives Mammonist as a direct translation. I want to reiterate a few points I’ve talked about before, as well as add a few new considerations, to get at what I think is telling about not!Greninja’s Mammonist accusation as it relates to heteromorphobia: o Mount Lady’s bonus chapter established that more rural areas see less heroism. This impacts heteromorphs like Shouji and Spinner both because there’s no one around who’s both willing and able to save them from the abuses they suffer[3] and because there are no heteromorphic heroes around to serve as role models. o Tomura’s Chapter 237 flashback established that rougher areas are slower to see hero agencies established in them—the men shortly to be murdered by Tenko complain about a bunch of new hero agencies being built in the area lately. That’s over a decade prior to canon, sure, but many long years more since the establishment of professional heroism! o I’ve demonstrated that higher concentrations of heteromorphs in an area can serve as a visual shorthand for it being a poorer, rougher place to live. o A hero’s ranking depends on incident resolution, public approval, and social contribution—all things that disadvantage those who work in rural areas. o Two characters in Class 1-A were admitted as “recommendation” students, i.e. those who can take smaller-group versions of the exams, as well as getting the benefit of an interview portion. Those two characters are Momo and Shouto—both baseline, both powerful, both wealthy. Does U.A. offer scholarships? Any financial aid for underprivileged students? Any programs to seek out promising youth who may not have the connections to get recommendations? Who knows! But, we sure do have a telling window on who gets small-batch exam privileges.[4] [3] Of course, if you take Vigilantes as canon, there’s no guarantee heroes would have helped them anyway—the people attacking them were doing so with pitchforks and pesticides, after all, not quirks. That firmly puts those attacks in the category of “not a hero’s job.” But let’s give Heroes enough benefit of the doubt to assume that even a pretty materialistic one would probably not have stood by while a crowd of adults attacked a ten-year-old with farming tools unless they themselves had already been raised to such violent heteromorphobia—which, if they’re content to be working in such rural areas, odds are they were. [4] This particular argument is, I admit, much weaker when you factor in Juzo, Tokage and Inasa, but if Horikoshi didn’t want to make some unfortunate implications about who benefits from the recommendation program, he shouldn’t have made 100% of the recommendation students in the Main Character Class baseline, powerful and wealthy.
Taken all together, it’s easy to understand why someone might accuse Heroes—especially Heroes who bust out the kind of exorbitantly expensive, last-minute constructs the heroes have just busted out—of being money-obsessed. Successful heroes live and die on commercialism, on public recognition, on their “brand,” and that structure keeps the money flowing—from the government to heroes, from civilians into the Hero industry, from heroes to the vast array of production companies supporting them on all fronts. The whole industry is a prayer wheel that turns on money. Now, Geten’s #3 is a pretty flashy dresser himself—those pinstripes!—so whenceforth this “Mammonist” accusation? Well, I would point out that he is a heteromorph, and reiterate the story’s frequent utilization of heteromorphs to visually communicate lower income brackets. Perhaps he himself has experience with poverty, even if he’s clearly doing better for himself these days. If so, then it’s very likely that the beef that drives his embrace of Liberation ideology is that the Hero System first criminalizes public quirk use for non-heroes and then monetarily disincentivizes getting help where it’s truly needed, all while pouring money into Heroics elsewhere like a busted oil tanker spewing crude into the Gulf.
Chapter 349:
Spinner is visually suspended between the desire to change the world he lives in and the desire to destroy “the warped imbalances (…) that we all just came to accept.” He embodies both—he’s someone who once resigned himself to his warped lot in life, who came to the League because he wanted so desperately to change, because he wanted to believe that change could be brought about by only a single man, and who fell in love with the promise of destruction. Hero Society never promised him either, so he came to the only people who could.
Chapter 353:
This chapter places Spinner firmly at Central Hospital, here to retrieve Kurogiri. The group he’s leading is entirely composed of heteromorphs, including two of his three PLF advisors; this, combined with the set-up about heteromorphs looking to him and Mezo “I want to feature him in the story” Shouji’s conspicuous presence, hints at what’s about to go down at this location.
Chapter 355:
AFO’s got a snappish “fowl duo” thought about Hawks and Tokoyami—just “two birds” in the Japanese, but still dismissal of them as animals.
Of the ones we can see, AFO has exactly one vestige with tiny little horns; every other one attacking him is baseline in their general appearance and build. Not exactly beating my heteromorphobic accusations there, big guy.
Chapter 358:
ShigAFO brings up appearance and form in his monologue about how the post-Advent world is a world beyond hope of a status quo, full of disparities that lead to a lack of understanding, and thence to fear and rejection. It touches on similar themes as Nedzu’s speech back in 323, but with an ultimately fatalistic bent.
Bakugou relates this all to Deku—their past relationship, as well as Deku being brought back to U.A.—but, as we will see, the arc’s got some heavier hitting stuff in mind for talking about disparities giving rise to fear and rejection.
Chapter 363:
Mirko’s gets another self-referential animal quip that only exists in Caleb Cook’s colorful localization. The line rendered as, “If only I’d been one hop faster!” only references being one step faster in Japanese.
----------
Next time, I will finally actually cover the hospital! Hopefully it will be in a week, but it's only half-written and is, I suspect, going to require a lot more editing to strike the right balance on discussing what I think is relevant and simply complaining about how egregiously bad it is as a resolution to this whole aspect of the worldbuilding. Followers who read my posts on those chapters will likely find my bitching familiar, but this is piece is bound for AO3 eventually, so it needs to be able to stand on its own without too much reference to other posts.
In any case, it should be up in one or two weeks, depending on how busy work keeps me.
On the topic of work, and with a number of new followers around, this is probably a good time for me to point out again that I'm in a pretty tight financial situation, so if you've been enjoying this series of posts and are of a mind to throw a few bucks my way, I do have a ko-fi you can use to do so!
Thanks for reading, all!

BNHA Chapter 327 Spoiler Analysis: Home Sweet Home
OH MY GOD, GUYS!!! DEKU GETS A BATH!!!! 🎉🛁 🧼 My broccoli boy finally gets squeaky clean, gets some sleep, and we finally get some R&R time with the Class 1-A kids. It’s not close to the happy-go-lucky days of old, but it’s some time with the kids nonetheless. I’m glad Horikoshi put some heart and humor in this chapter because god knows we needed it. But, let’s be real, this is the calm before the storm:
The chapter starts off with what everyone and Horikoshi has been wanting for Deku since he went on his mission: A motherfuckin’ bath 🛀 🧼🛁! Kaminiari and Kirishima lead the Class 1-A boys to carry Deku into their side of the UA Alliance bathhouse (looks real nice btw) and give him a good power-wash. The whole sequence is very comical! The boys are rushing in and poor Deku has this O_O face on him like “what is happening?” 😂 We also see some of the boys butt naked 😳 It’s clear that Horikoshi had fun drawing this thing and it was fun to read 💚
Bakugo is with them of course and you can actually see his scars from when Shigaraki stabbed him. He’s not bleeding, but you can see those scar patches on his skin. I’m curious of how fan artist are going to draw him from now on. I would like to see that fan art 👀
There’s also some bubble sfx coving Bakugo’s crotch and a translator said it might say dick or penis. I’m curious what the officials will say.
But, Bakugo being Bakugo is still aggressive towards his classmates. More playfully than before, but still. He reminds everyone that he still intends on being the best there is and that everyone is still his rivals (also friends, Bakugo). HE EVEN MAKES AN ATTEMPT TO CALL DEKU IZUKU! LIKE HE ALMOST SAID “DEKU” BUT HE CHANGED IT TO IZUKU AT THE LAST MINUTE! AND DEKU SAYS THAT CALLING HIM DEKU IS JUST FINE LIKE THAT ANGER THAT ORIGINATED FROM THE NICKNAME ISN’T THERE ANYMORE AND IT’S A FREINDLY NICKNAME BKDK FRIENDSHIP GROWTH YOU LOVE TO SEE IT 🧡💚
After Deku’s bath, he’s sitting in the commons talking to the rest of Class 1-A. Well, most of them. Mina tells Deku that Ochako and a few other students went to bed after everything became ok again. So, I definitely didn’t see Tsuyu, and it looks like Shoji, Aoyama, and Hagakare weren’t in this chapter either. Ochako I understand; her speech must’ve been emotionally taxing. Aoyama and Hagakare are the top suspects for being the traitor in the fandom and this isn’t helping their cases. I don’t know about Tsuyu and Shoji though. They’re both mutant-types, but characters like Ojiro or mutant-like people like Jiro, Mina or Tokoyami didn’t get outcasted. Horikoshi did hint that Shoji would be getting something soon. But, I really am just speculating here.
Now that Deku’s back, everyone has questions for him. Though I understand why, this has gotta be overwhelming for Deku. At least they’re not mad at him for hiding OFA. They seem very understanding actually.
Then my ❄️🔥 boy, Shoto Todoroki, comes in all handsome right out of the baths 💙 He’s drying his right side while you can see a steam cloud on his left. So, it is canon that Shoto drys himself naturally with his heat. His entrance is so pretty that even Mineta’s questioning it (shut up, Mineta, you’ll never be as beautiful as him). And yes, I might be a Shoto simp, don’t judge me I see y’all too 👀
Anyway, Shoto asks everyone to let Deku sleep since that was pretty much the whole reason they brought him back. Problem is, Deku can’t because he really needs to apologize to All Might for abandoning him. AND AFTER HE SAYS THAT THERE’S A DETAILED PANEL OF SHOTO POINTING TO ALL MIGHT LIKE “UH, MIDORIYA? HE’S RIGHT THERE” AND ALL MIGHT LOOKING FROM THE WINDOW LIKE A HORROR VILLAIN WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE 😭
All Might comes in and apologizes to Deku for not being able to support him when he needed it, but Deku says that All Might support him more than enough. Mina also scolds All Might for not saying anything when he left. She wants All Might to apologize to everyone for that. Though I’m glad Deku and All Might have reconciled (I honestly thought that last convo between them was going to be THE LAST for a hot minute), Mina has a point. All Might did bail on all of them without any warning. Kinda messed up in general.
All Might apologizes and he is going to fight with everyone regardless of his physical state so that he can see that flame continue to shine. However, he warns the kids that they got info on the villains and that the final decisive battle is coming soon. If the whole “Final Arc” thing hasn’t been hammered into your head, there you go. I’m also glad that Stain’s speech did end up motivating All Might further. Who knew?
So, All Might is off to help Endeavor since he’s got unfinished business to take care of. But, the kids are wondering why Endeavor (and probably Hawks) isn’t entering UA entirely yet. Shot reminds them that Endeavor is still connected to Dabi and that his presence alone would cause more discourse. People’s minds can’t change that easily. Shoto of all people would know.
As Deku FINALLY SLEEPS 💤 and Shoto puts a blanket over him (possibly warmed by his left side 🔥) 💙💚 Shoto acknowledges how his presence might be making people anxious too even though it’s not his fault at all (thank you, Kirishima for doubling down on this btw ❤️🪨). But, things are different and Shoto’s going to show that so that everyone can be at ease like he wants as a hero. There’s even this sweet small smile on his beautiful face as he says this. He’s grown so much and he’s pretty to boot I love him so much *HANDS IN FACE* 💙❄️🔥
EVEN KIRISHIMA’S CRYING FROM HOW MANLY SHOTO IS I LOVE THESE KIDS!!!!
And now Jiro steps up and says her piece. That she knows how hard it is to convince everyone to change their minds for the better. Like with those two critics from the Culture Fest. Even so, they accomplished this before, so she thinks they can do it again. She even gathers all the band members to emphasize on this. I love how Jiro uses her earphone jacks to rally the band and how she literally drags Bakugo by the shirt for a cute group shot. None of these kids are afraid of Bakugo anymore LOL 😂! Also, Momo is the tallest out of all of them in this line up shot (except for Bakugo who’s still being dragged on the ground). I think she’s roughly 5ft 6-7 inches? She’s the tallest of the girls I know that, but damn. She towers all of them. Even me... She’s also very pretty in this shot and it’s her birthday as I’m posting this, so happy b-day Momo ❤️
And we get a beautiful panel of Jiro leading everyone to make sure that they’ll go beyond with making everything better than it was before. We get a nice group shot of the rest of the class agreeing with her with a smile including Shoto with a small one (did I mention that I love him?) 💙💙💙 And Deku’s in the center still sleeping away. I hope he has good dreams *kisses forehead*💚 And go Jiro for stepping up to the plate too 💜! All these kids have grown so much. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Finally, the last pages show Endeavor, Hawks, and Best Jeanist going somewhere, maybe Tartarus. They got info out of Dr. Ujiko via polygraph and the Nomu Research Group at Central Hospital. They predict that they have 2 months until Shigaraki’s ready to go again, so they’ll need 1 month of preparation. But, the info Stain gave All Might gave them more info. His letter ended up being a personal letter to All Might (Stain really is that nuts...), but there was a microchip in the blade Stain left containing the security records from Tartarus. It’s not stated how this info affected the mission at hand, but it sounds like it has to do something with the time frame. So, I’m curious if they have less time to prepare or more? Given how this is the Final Arc, Imma say less.
Finally, the teaser asks “How are the villains moving?” I wonder if that means we’re switching to the villain’s next week. I would love to hang out with the kids more, but I would also like to know what our villains are up to. Like, where the hell is Himiko Toga? Is Spinner still questioning shit? What happened to Mr. Compress after he mauled himself to help Shigaraki and the others escape? Also I think we need more info on this dude’s backstory given he’s the grandson of the famous Robin Hood villain who’s name definitely didn’t escape me... 😐 Is Dabi laughing his ass off from the utter chaos he started? Is AFO still smiling like the evil mastermind he is? Is Shigaraki as crispy as he was earlier? I was going to ask about Twice but... 😭
So, yeah! Love this chapter. Really good transition chapter into whatever happens next. I’m kinda sad we didn’t see Deku fight off more past villains during his vigilante days. We got Muscular and Overhaul and I think that’s it? Didn’t see any of Overhaul’s minions or that teeth-blade villain (Fish-something?; he broke out, but we haven’t seen him since) or Re-Destro or his goons. I don’t count as Gentle or LaBrava as villains anymore and they were never truly evil to begin with. Regardless, it was a really cool arc to see a more dark side of Deku. I’m really glad Horikoshi made great use of his bunny hood and metal mask finally. Deku really did look demonic for some time. Also, seeing Deku badass is always a plus. And seeing the deconstruction of hero society and the possible reconstruction of it was really good too. Not everything is sunshine and rainbows, unfortunately, but we can do our best to make it that way.
I’m also glad that we finally got our kids back in top form. Not just being heroes, but being teenagers too. They all had great moments especially Iida, Ochako, and now Shoto as they should. But, Bakugo’s apology was peak for me. Over 320 chapters of development and build-up lead to that moment and it really is one of the best in the series. It lives in my head rent free.
So, we got 1-2 months in-manga-time until what is probably the final battle of the series. God, I can’t believe we’re actually nearing the end of this series. I started reading it back in 2018 when shit was rough for me. I found this series after listening to the music and reading the hype around it. I watched the show then I read the manga and it really helped me. Saved me from a dark place actually. I will miss this series when it’s done and I will be greatly for the joy Horikoshi has gifted us. I’ll try to save the farewells for later. I’d say this series has at least 1-1 1/2 years to go.

Hello, hope you're doing well!
I'm a bit confused about Shigaraki's portrayal in the current season of bnha (he just fought re-destro). I resumed my main doubts on the following questions, but you don't have to answer all of them (or any, really). Any insight you can share towards his character would be great.
Does he regret killing his family, or did he want to do it? Is his wish to destroy motivated by his quirk (like Toga liking blood - or did I get that wrong?) or is it purely from his hatred of hero society? Did AfO simply removed his inhibitions towards destroying or does his influence run further?
Thank you for your time :)
Hi! I'm going to assume you aren't a manga reader? The anime's not done a great job this season, sigh.
So, I do suggest you look through my Shigaraki tag, and through @linkspooky's tag as well, because she's written some great ones with insight into his character.
As for regret... Shigaraki is a highly unreliable narrator who has repressed his memories of what happened to his family out of trauma; it's only natural that he's also repressing his true feelings on what happened (especially as All for One then swooped in to shape Shigaraki's internala narrative). That said, he did not intend to kill his family except for his father, and even then a six year old is utterly incapable of truly understanding what it means to kill someone. Even within the story, Shigaraki behaves exactly as you would expect a child to behave in such circumstances. Whether he regrets it or not is later addressed in the manga... I'll post the answer below the cut.
As for motivated by his quirk, there's no evidence within the story that a quirk gives someone a desire for anything in the sense of shaping personality. However, of course it's a superpower they have, so they're going to want to use it. Shigaraki wants to destroy hero society out of revenge and because his quirk makes it possible for him to help do this. As for AFO's influence... it's hard to say right now. That's still being determined in the manga. Also spoilers below.
Toga herself is a bit of a quirky case (heh) because her quirk gave her powers based on blood, so of course she's going to be fascinated by blood. It's not something like her quirk warping her personality; it's just natural for a kid like her. Instead of being taught empathy and compassion and the value of blood and life, Toga's parents recoiled and acted like she was a freak--which only isolated her and taught her that people reject those they do not understand. Toga goes so far in the other direction because she knows that being rejected hurts: she wants to become the people she cares for, feel and experience exactly what they feel and experience. It's obviously not a healthy position, but nothing was intrinsically "wrong" with Toga; she was different, yes, but only became a murderer due to her treatment (of course she made choices too yada yada but yeah).
Spoilers under the cut:
Yes, Shigaraki regrets it. He apologizes to Hana in a dream.
AFO is currently trying to take control of Shigaraki's body and mind, soooo. We'll see.

BnHA Chapter 278: MOMO IN CHARGE
Previously on BnHA: Deku and Kacchan were all “SIR, THAT’S OUR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT SENSEI” and got really ferocious and made a very passionate attempt to blow Tomura up and it was great. It basically did nothing, but it was still great. AFO was all “COME HERE LIL BRO”, and Tomura was all “silly Sensei, you can’t just take over my mind and body just like that”, and he was very confident of this despite there really being no evidence to back it up, but okay! Gran was all “time to make the fandom mad at me” and grabbed Tomura by the collar and yelled at him about Nana a bit, and then Bakugou and Endeavor made an even MORE passionate attempt to blow up Tomura, which may or may not have done some actual damage. The chapter ended with Gigantomachia battling Mt. Lady, just kinda out of the blue, which is FINE, but she had better be all right, though!
Today on BnHA: Everyone is all “WAUGHH IT’S GIGANTOMACHIA” and running around freaking out about it. The U.A. alums all kick some ass, and pretty much everyone else not from U.A. does jack fucking shit. Mt. Lady, who I plan on naming all of my future children after, does her best to stop Machia but he keeps flinging her aside. Kamui Woods is all “here I come with Midnight to put Gigantomachia to sleep!” and is PROMPTLY FUCKING MURDERED!? by Dabi because he’s a flammable tree man, and so Midnight falls all the way to the ground and is badly injured. So then she’s all “well I better call the most competent person I can think of to fix this mess” and dials up YAOYOROZU FUCKING MOMO, who proceeds to take charge LIKE THE BOSS SHE IS, and mobilizes the rest of the kids. And honestly I have more faith in them than in any of the adults at this point, so yeah, you know what? Let’s do this.
so I am possibly a bit spoiled on this chapter because I did a “top five predictions” post earlier this week, and someone replied to that yesterday on Thursday saying that they were mostly correct. I don’t know exactly how close to the mark I was though, and in any case most of the predictions were just “so-and-so shows up, probably”, so it’s not too bad. we’ll see how it goes!
OH THANK GOD MY BABIES ARE SAFE
I mean, CLEARLY they’re all about to be in horrible danger, seeing as Jirou is about to inform them of the whole “THE BIG GUY EVERYONE WAS AFRAID ABOUT WAKING UP WOKE UP” thing, but in the meantime at least Kami and Toadette and Honenuki made it back to the group safely
also Kaminari’s use of “Jirou-Jack” here is fucking inspired and I want him to teach a class on nicknames. isn’t he the one who coined “Yaomomo” as well? this boy has a gift and it needs to be appreciated
so Jirou is all “SOMETHING REALLY BIG IS COMING”, and actually she says “INSANELY HUGE”, which if anything is still an understatement, hard as it is to believe
WOW
“A BAD GUY IS HEADING THIS WAY?? SOUNDS LIKE IT’S TIME TO ABANDON THE CHILDREN IN THE WOODS” kjlfakh okay you know what?? fine!! you weren’t even going to do anything anyway so let’s not pretend!!
holy shit it’s like Mt. Lady isn’t even there
look at those speed lines!! goddamn. I just felt this huge rush of empathy for Mt. Lady though. like can you imagine growing up with this super-destructive quirk, and managing to become a hero with it against all odds, and having to put up with the manga making fun of you all the time just because sometimes you have a tendency to DESTROY A LOT OF STUFF, but it’s not like you can help it!! but the upside has always been that when your quirk is on, you are fucking UNSTOPPABLE though. so even though it’s been a hell of a rough ride for you, it’s worth it because you’re a complete badass and the number of people who can beat you out in terms of sheer physical strength is probably in the single digits. and you’re working really hard too, and lately you’ve been moving up through the ranks and actually becoming a damn fine hero if I do say so myself (and I do), and it’s like, about time though?? like finally, finally it is all starting to come together for you. and then this snarling trashrock person suddenly comes stampeding along and you put your all into trying to stop him, and it doesn’t even do a damn thing. like, holy shit. that’s just not fucking fair and YOU DESERVE BETTER, MT. LADY
anyway so she’s still hanging in there for now though so let’s check in with our villain squad riding on his back
lmaooo they’re all “I don’t even understand what is going on here”
YOU GUYS, THIS IMPLIES THAT THEY WERE ALL PLUCKED OFF THE GROUND BY THE SCRUFFS OF THEIR NECKS AND THEY HAD ABSOLUTELY NO SAY IN THE MATTER OMG. like I’m picturing Spinner being held by his cape pinched in between Machia’s thumb and forefinger, and awkwardly trying to lecture him like a mom with his hands on his hips all, “BAD GIGANTOMACHIA! NO! NOOOUAGH -- !” and cutting off with a yelp as he’s dropped onto his back
and I am glad they got Toga some clothes! I like to think Gigantomachia grabbed those for her as well. so thoughtful
wow Skeptic actually wants to go back to Re-Destro??
color me legit impressed. I underestimated your loyalty my dude. and let me also just take this moment to extend my gratitude toward Horikoshi for leaving the rest of the MLA out of it because good fucking riddance to them, goodbye forever hopefully!!
I guess they’ll be needing Skeptic’s quirk down the line for some reason? maybe he is meant to be like a new, less out-of-control Twice. smdh y’all out here trying to replace your dead buddy like a pet goldfish
who is this “they” Dabi is referring to
do you mean the heroes? lol yeah I guess they’re pretty distracted by the literal fucking kaijuu you’re currently piggybacking on
SIGH
“the Jakku team must’ve made a mistake” BOY, I’LL SAY. you know what, don’t even talk to me about that yet. it’s still too fresh. suffice it to say that your suspicions are correct and things in Jakku are not very daijobu right about now
anyway here’s a closeup of this bubble person just cuz
they are everything and I want them to be my friend. also there’s a squid person a few paces behind them who can probably do anything a squid can do. or they might actually be a shark person, actually. I don’t know. either way I love them
GETEN PLEASE GO AWAY
WE ARE PHASING OUT THE MLA!! MOVING FORWARD IT’S ORIGINAL LOV ONLY!! I’M SORRY BUT YOU DIDN’T MAKE THE CUT. we already have an ice character so shoo
OH DAMN MY MAN CEMENTOSS HAS HAD ENOUGH OF HIS NONSENSE TOO AHHHH YESS
1) hey so Cementoss is legit terrifying who’d’ve thought
and 2), did Cementoss always have a mouthful of gigantic perfect teeth each the size of a slice of bread, or is this just something I’m only noticing now because I’m behind the curve. either way, let me just say sincerely, DKJDLKFJLSKJG
RE-DESTRO YOU GO AWAY TOO!!
@waywardfacegarden you asked the other day which are the characters I actually dislike, and this is one of them lol. he’s just a big ol’ prick, and on top of that has the audacity to not even be interesting in any way so as to balance it out. anyway so apologies to any Re-Destro stans out there but I basically spend every panel he’s in hoping that someone will punch him in the face hard enough to finally make him shut up
anyway so my man Edgeshot is here though, finally!! but of all the people for him to fight! this is a real predicament for me. the most soothing character in the series contrasted with the character who grates my nerves the most. Edgeshot’s sexy ASMR voice is gonna be drowned out by all of RD’s punching and self-important ranting in the anime and I’m lowkey devastated but I’m gonna pull myself together and read on
SPEAKING OF SELF-IMPORTANT RANTING
Edge, if you can liberate us from having to put up with his insufferable ass once and for all I will be so grateful to you. can you do this. please. for me
and it looks like some other boring MLA villains are following along behind Machia so I’m gonna need someone to kick their asses as well. please
-- YESSSSSS
okay so now I see what that comment on my prediction post was referring to lol. I did indeed have my fingers crossed that these two would show up again, and sure enough! THE GANG’S ALL HERE YAY
and Mt. Lady is being sumoed aside!
anyone want tonight’s lotto numbers. during this brief fleeting moment of having my predictions be actually credible, I would just like to say that Hagakure is the U.A. traitor. thank you and goodnight
OH NO KAMUI IS WORRIED
HE LOOKS SO PANICKED?? OUT OF THE BLUE I SHIP IT SO MUCH?? I keep forgetting they’re on the same team and stuff and wow, I need to calm down
LOL MIDNIGHT IS ALL “NO TIME FOR SHIPS!!”
I wonder if her quirk will actually be enough to take him down? this is something I’ve been itching to see for a long time, actually. just how powerful is she? we know her quirk is more effective on males than females, but is anyone actually capable of resisting it? imagine if she really did just knock Gigantomachia out after all of this buildup. that would be some god-tier shit omg, DO IT
(ETA: I am just going to assume that since Horikoshi had to go to elaborate lengths to take her out of the fight, this means that her quirk really was capable of knocking them all out. another tragic case of Too Badass For The Plot. y’all better respect Midnight.)
YESSSSSSSS
is she stripping. you know what -- don’t think about it. I won’t let you ruin this for me Horikoshi. Midnight’s gonna be a badass because the ladies are fucking ruling this arc and that’s all there is to it
NOOOOOO
DABI GET BACK HERE I JUST WANT TO TALK!!
oh thank god, she’s all right. BUT KAMUI ISN’T THOUGH DLKJSFLKSJDG??!
did Kamui Woods just... die
(ETA: okay but for real, is there an actual curse in effect on the Billboard Top Ten right now, though?? did one of them accidentally disturb the tomb of some ancient king??)
...
( ・ั﹏・ั)
oH MY GOD!?!
NOOOOOOO WHY ARE YOU SO QUICK TO SLEEP ON MAJESTIC, LET’S SEE IF THEY CAN DO IT!! GIVE US MAJESTIC GOD DAMMIT
(ETA: Horikoshi is seriously just yanking our chain at this point. when Majestic finally does show up, he or she better have the coolest fucking quirk of all time, that’s all I’m saying.)
okay how badly injured is Midnight here, though?? she just fell all that way?? DO I NEED TO BE REALLY MAD. I CAN WORK MY WAY UP TO IT PRETTY QUICKLY, JUST SAY THE WORD. I’M ALREADY HALFWAY THERE HONESTLY. WHERE’S KAMUI WOODS
!!!!!!!!!!!
AND JUST LIKE THAT MY ANGER EVAPORATES INTO THE NIGHT, YESSSSSSSSS!! MOMOOOOO
holy shit. “a quirk that can stop that thing,” she says. and goes and calls YAOYOROZU FUCKING MOMO y’all I am barely holding myself back from SCREAMING right now I...
you guys
you guys. if Midnight and Yaomomo team up to take down Gigantofuckingmachia using some sort of MOMO MADE A MACHINE TO SPREAD MIDNIGHT’S QUIRK strategy, or whatnot?? I will fucking die on the spot. you can end the manga right there. Kacchan you can keep your quirk I don’t even care
“IT MIGHT BE AGAINST THE LAW” lmaooooo insert John Mulaney “WE’RE WELL PAST THAT” gif here. holy shit. listen, that is fine. if anything it’s even better
WHAT THE FUCK
DO I NEED TO START GETTING REALLY MAD AGAIN!?!?! FUCKING WHIPLASH, IS WHAT THIS IS, BUT YOU JUST TELL ME WHAT SORT OF OVER-THE-TOP REACTION IS NEEDED HERE AND I’LL GO FOR IT
(((( ;°Д°))))
[GRABS HORIKOSHI BY THE COLLAR] listen, you. if you only just now, for the first time ever, gave us a lady hero actually mentoring another lady hero, which we have somehow NEVER HAD BEFORE in almost three hundred chapters, only for you to then KILL OFF THE MENTOR IN THE MIDDLE OF HER GODDAMN SPEECH TO THE MENTOREE, I will... there’s... I’ll... okay, listen. DON’T. THERE WILL BE A RECKONING. CAPSLOCK SUCH AS THIS WORLD HAS NEVER WITNESSED!!
ヽ(#゚Д゚)ノ┌┛
I DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW TO REACT TO ANYTHING IN THIS CHAPTER AND I’M LOSING MY MIND OVER IT
so the other kids are all “what the fuck” and “so Momo’s in charge??” which, YES!!! IT’S THE ONE GOOD PART ABOUT ALL THIS SO DON’T YOU DARE QUESTION IT
MOMO NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO BE CRIPPLED BY YOUR ANXIETY, YOU CAN DO THIS GIRL I BELIEVE IN YOU
hell, it’s not even just an “I believe in you” thing, because it’s not just belief, it’s fact. you motherfucking can do this, you are the most capable and brilliant student in 1-A, you just gotta have faith and let yourself shine!!
so now there are some more panels of Machia running and the villains and heroes fighting, blah blah blah. and Momo screwing up her face as she makes her decision...
YESSSSSSSSS
my baby girl is all grown up and TAKING THESE MOTHERFUCKIN REINS and MOMO I WILL LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU JUST SAY THE WORD!!
lol she’s all “Jirou use your ears and scientifically calculate how long it’ll take him to get here”, and Jirou is all “I can literally fucking see him, he’s gonna be on top of us in like two seconds” WELL OKAY THEN
thank god there are no adult pros left to fuck this up. is that weird that this is a real and honest and completely sincere thought that just ran through my head? like, at this point if any of the adults were around I’d just be afraid of them dying honestly. but with the kids I actually feel real hope that they’re somehow gonna do this. of course it helps that unlike the adults they’re pretty safe from being killed off
also! way to represent the entirety of class 1-B there Honenuki lulz. sorry, The Rest of Class 1-B
OH MY GOD
MT. LADY I WILL LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU AS WELL!! YOU HAVE MY LOVE AND FEALTY!!
I’M STANNING HER SO HARD I’M GONNA EXPLODE SOMEBODY HELP!?!
JIROU SAYS THAT MACHIA HAS SLOWED DOWN!! YOU GUYS I’M ABOUT TO GET “MT. LADY FOR PRESIDENT” TATTOOED ACROSS MY FOREHEAD
lmao at Shouji using his power of “putting some extra eyeballs on my arms” to inform everyone that Gigantomachia is Right Over There and Very Big
good job Shouji
oh my glob I have so much love for Momo right now that it can’t even fucking be contained. brb wildly flailing my hands around a little to try and release some of this excess excitement
maybe Momo can be president instead and Mt. Lady can be the vice president
NO THE CHAPTER IS ENDING I’M NOT READY
AND JUMP IS ON BREAK AGAIN NEXT WEEK TOO, FML!!
okay!!
Kaminari is so fucking brave right now I just want to crush him in a hug?! we know he’s still scared!! look at his eyes!! and he was freaking the hell out earlier too, and now the situation is much worse! but he doesn’t give a fuck because his friends need him! he is ready to be a hero, my little baby boy is all grown up and I’m so proud??
Mineta’s face in the bottom right corner is everything. I know, I know, boooo Mineta, but that’s still the best face anyone has made in the entirety of this manga
Tetsutetsu’s out here all “I humbly request to also represent class 1-B” and Momo is all “okay fine I guess we can have two of you guys”
can we all just stop for a moment to appreciate how KamiJirouMomo is alive and well. like, we had interactions between all three of them in this chapter, in all possible permutations? do you know how happy this makes me?? I am vibrating with joy??!
I really can’t stress this enough -- I have no clue at all what these little soda can things are (anesthetic, I guess??? you know, like how you sometimes buy cans of anesthetic at the supermarket?? what do you mean you don’t do that??), or what they’re gonna do with them. I have like negative clues. but DAMNED IF I GIVE ONE SINGLE FUCK. the next chapter can be them all fucking hurling them at his face for all I care. THE DETAILS OF HOW SHE KICKS HIS ASS DO NOT MATTER!! GOOD MORNING TO YAOMOMO AND YAOMOMO ONLY!! MY MOMO ACADEMIA

Spinner time travel quirk headcanons
For @whoatimetravel-main whose answer to this post from @oldphone-whodis my tumblr forgot to tell me and I saw by sheer luck.
So thing is I have like a lot of different headcanons for different time travel versions, but all have in common that Spinner is not letting it happen again the same way, especially the death of Twice and Magne (even though they weren’t close).
And Spinner still wants to destroy hero society and be with his friends and wants them to succeed. Especially Tomura. And of course he does not want AFO to take over Tomura.
Version 1: only Spinner gets time travel powers and it’s pretty much the original post base (some variations would be a little earlier, so Spinner can stop some other stuff from happening, but all versions where the League consists of already wanted criminals start this way.
Basically: Spinner can go two different ways, either he tells them, hopes they buy into it by using knowledge he should not have or he does not tell them and instead just tries to play it saver by reducing the damage the league gets, aka Twice and Magne alive, Compress keeps his arm etc.
While I do find the he tells them and convinces them interesting and a lot of fun it does lead to major changes in the story if the League can just ask Spinner: how did this go, he tells them, they do it differently and hope for the best.
But Spinner is the kind of guy who probably played enough games where one decision can change the entire outcome of the game, so he’d know that this could lead to way worse consequences.
So I think he’d play it safe and go with sticking to what he knows and only making sure his friends survive.
Especially because Tomura pre AFO imprisonment would still be under AFOs influence and saying something against AFO could lead to Spinner’s death, so while I think Twice and Toga would be on board right away with time travel person, Giran, Compress and Dabi could be persuaded through logic arguments, Tomura is the biggest issue to convince here, so Spinner would probably go and play it safe.
Even though I’d love the comedy of Spinner trying to get everyone to believe him. And I can see Spinner telling Dabi, Compress even Giran the truth, he’d probably be safe for them to keep the secret, the chances of Twice or Toga finding out and being distrustful (more so Toga, than Twice, I think he’d understand why such curtail information wouldn’t be given to him) are too high. And of course Dabi is a bit of a wild card in regards to his own goals.
So Spinner plays it safe: he doesn’t tell anyone and just tries to change things a little bit. The Forrest Training Camp and the Hideout ark stay the same (I know OP likes Mustard, and it’s really screwed up that this middle schooler villain just vanishes, but I just have to little knowledge about him to include him and I’d say unless that changes (bnha stand chapter 314) neither does Spinner, so he probably would let the 3 M get arrested.
And he’d definitely let AFO get imprisoned, so that Tomura is finally free of him.
He goes with them to the Overhaul meeting and stops Magne (and therefore Compress) to attack Overhaul, saving them. But he was still an ass, so the Overhaul ark remains relatively the same.
So the next ark with big problems for the League would be the Meta Liberation Army which is where I am a bit torn like Spinner probably would be. Should Giran and Tomura get to keep their fingers? Issue being: if this goes down differently the outcome could be catastrophic for everyone. Tomura needs to win against Re-Destro (and unlock his childhood trauma) and so do Twice and Toga need their power up. So I’d guess that Spinner would let it slide because getting involved could mean a way worse outcome than 7 lost fingers.
Which leads to the currently biggest problem Spinner will have to face: the fight against the pro heroes and Twice death and maybe getting Tomura to not get surgery so that AFO can’t take over.
I’d say this would be a huge moment of Spinner going: this is the point where he’ll have to overdo everything because the outcome is too bad. Current standpoint: Toga missing, Compress arrested and in bad health, Maschia arrested, Twice dead, Tomura’s body got taken over by AFO, their forces lost.
So this would for me be the point where he decides to change everything he can to not let that happen, because saving that point seems useless for this outcome.
My personal favorite would be to get Twice to clone EVERYONE form the PLF and have them at the hideout but actually relocate everyone elsewhere so that the heroes are busy fighting the clones (we saw what the Re-Destro clone alone did). He would hate to find a way to hide this information from Twice as long as possible, until the last moment Hawks is around, then be fast of cloning everyone.
I’d say Spinner made himself a questlog for this, a to-do-list if you will, so in order to finish this mission he has to do the following:
Gets Hawks not to find out about the clones until it’s too late. Get the League into safety. Make sure Twice is as far away as possible from Hawks. Kill Best Jeanist probably, I mean he is just lying around in a bag in the corner right now. Get Tomura to not get into that tank. But have AFO believe that he does? Last thing would definitely be the hardest part but also might be the moment where he tells Tomura that time travel was involved, because by now they are actually friends and Tomura was out of AFO grasp for a while.
And of course to still stick close to the raid and the heroes getting Ujiko to knock him out and keep the heroes busy while the League gets out of there he’d need something to put into that tank. Twice clones would not be able to hold it up obviously, maybe Sceptic’s can?
Or Spinner forgoes the whole thing and just tells Tomura and the League just blows the hospital up themselves before getting to Tartarus to kill AFO before anything worse happens.
This is the moment for me where I go in like 50 different directions of what could happen.
Spinner could tell everyone about the future he stopped. Spinner could have everyone be complelty elsewhere and them just watching the heroes loose their shit because everyone is a clone.
The PLF having survived could go full on war against the heroes, which would probably not end well either.
Spinner might tell Dabi that he knows who he is and wants to help take down Endevour and they could make it bigger than what actually happened. I am sure Compress would help putting up a show and Toga and Tomura would be on board of: shitty father deserves to go down.
There are so many possibilities for this.
Other than that and other Version of Time Travel would be either completely different times, picturing baby Spinner trying to get to baby Tomura before he kills his family or stopping Dabi from burning himself, teenager Spinner straight up getting the gang together early, kidnapping Toga before she snaps and showing up at the bar with Kurogiri letting them stay (Oboro liked strays too), maybe it’s a groundhog day situation of the day of the raid and he has to figure out how to save Twice from Hawks and Tomura from AFO.
And then there are the versions of Time Travel where it’s not only Spinner but other people get it too.
Like every one of the League getting time traveled and now there have some meeting before everything goes down just sitting there like: now what? And Toga not stopping to hug Twice. Maybe ever person I currently see joining as a major player in the finale battle against AFO getting time traveled and they have to figure out how to not let that happen, with Shoto going all out trying to find his brother and talk to him, Uraraka reaching out to Toga and Deku knowing he has to save Tomura but not knowing how to in this timeline.
My personal favorite: Spinner and Bakugo being the only people who time travel and they have to work together to stop this whole mess and the whole thing just being an entire comedy because they keep in check with each other, planning out who does what like: If you take down Overhaul, we’ll take down the Doctor and his Nomus – We’ll have to wait until Daku wins this fight and unlocks this power otherwise it won’t work, -I forgot Toga can’t use quirks yet. Like the worst version of a buddy comedy you can think of.

did you see this theory? it's not exactly dad for one but I thought it was interesting
Oh, OH! I haven't seen this one, but it ties pretty well into the DfO, and the whole entire spiel about Izuku being white haired/not Quirkless and that him being diagnosed as such is just a cover up. It also does fit the proposed timeline (AfO has Izuku, right before his Quirk manifests, it is taken away by AfO and then stored by Ujiko, who instead tells Izuku and Inko that he is quirkless, AfO kidnaps Tenko who will be the embryo for this Quirk, in order to test whether it is possible to take Quirks, store them on (exactly like stamina cells - making it a sort of cryogenic experiment, sort of what I say in here about Shigaraki being a patient 0/plan B and Izuku being the one whose body will be used in the future for the Quirk?) and then re-use them when it’s time?
However, apart from that very simple (lol) method to copy Quirks, there are some others, too? They might be as efficient or during, or even powerful but are still there. Monoma’s Quirk, Twice’s quirk (whose doubles were able to use the Quirk of the copied person), and Toga’s quirk (acquired level of her being able to use the Quirk of the one she transforms into, but here the argument would be that this still depends on the use of blood of that person, so it might also not be a viable explanation). I don’t know whether this has some importance, but we know that there are other Quirks which allow to copy (even if not store, at least not one we know about), and that might also be a possibility when it comes to a potential combination of the all the stored quirks that AfO had at the time? There is so much room for potential with this theory and its implications, so much food for thought! Thanks for sharing!

311 rant & BNHA rambles!!!
So, I did make this post before, and then deleted it. So I could re-vamped it and when I say re-vamped it! I mean I just added more rambles 😂! So like before I’m just piecing my thoughts together, which make no sense but I’m sharing them!
“Deku was the one who suggested being bait” Yeah he did, and you know what?! That still doesn’t make it ok. I mean it was destined to happen, and maybe they did as adults voice a bit of doubt in that suggestion but as the more experienced adults and Pro heroes you’d think they would know or thought of a better plan 🤷♀️! With Deku playing “vigilante” hero though, I’m not shocked it came to this!
Overhaul really does not seem like much of a threat, he has no arms (😂 let’s all thank Shiggy!) and he looks like he could list a thousand reasons for why his life sucks!
The villainness, like girl who are you? What are your plans? Or your alliance? Who do you work with? I’m so curious by her, and really want to know what her name is!
Endeavor’s new name for an attack we have seen before, related to Touya’s name and I just don’t feel too fond of it! I actually really REALLY dislike it! “Ignited arrow” or something like that, I’m sorry it just sounds distasteful and majorly corny! Then again to be fair, I feel like all attack names sound quite corny especially when you imagine them shouting them out 😂! It also seems bit iffy if he was to use it against Dabi/Touya, but meh I’m moving on I’m just excited to see where the Todofam plot will go from here! 😭 please Hori give me Dabi/Touya or Shouto already I haven’t seen them in ages! They’re the Todoroki’s I want to see 🥺!
Ok like we have not seen Toga for how many chapters now? I can’t remember....that’s how long we haven’t seen her 😭 I want to know where she is, like is she with the League again? Gone into hiding? What if she’s been caught? I need to know! Come on Hori I’m getting Toga-itis(lack of Toga content sickness)!
Also I really REALLY want to know, where is Amajiki? Fatgum? Are they alive? Are they well? Because so far you have gave us nothing Hori nothing 😭 I want to know Amajiki is literally primary school me, and Fatgum is literally one of the Pro hero who make it into my top 10! I need to know if they ok!
Deku looks so depressed, and it’s making me sad 😔 I really know it’s going to take a while yet before he’s truly happy again, but I can’t wait to see it!
All Might dead? 😂😑 denying it I am denying it until we get confirmation, because I do not believe that Hori will kill him just like that! I feel it would be more dramatic and emotional, or something I just don’t see this being it!
I’m wishing to see Katsuki as well, I really want to know what he is going through! What are his thoughts? Did Deku tell him what he was planning? Or is he left in the dark? What did his letter say? Come on I want to know, I don’t know why I get into these things because I’m an impatient girl I want to know everything straight away 😂!
I absolutely love that Endeavor(and the others) is getting backlash from the civilians, and they ain’t showing any signs of sympathy! However, they’re also actually really pissing me off as well, I mean this reaction they’re having is so realistic but I bet they would deny it. If they were told they were the problem too! Hero society was flawed sure, and the heroes played a part in it but so did society. The leave it to a hero mindset is what led to Shiggy being ignored, which led to him being picked up by AFO. Because if someone just anyone helped him that day, then maybe just maybe we wouldn’t be in this position 🤷♀️! I think the number system needs to go too!
I wonder if we will get to see the other parents of class 1A, I really want to see what Kirishima’s parents look like and Mina’s too! It’s a stupid curiosity that I got, and I really want it quenched!
Where have they put that giant guy? Like all of the prisons have been broken, and the most “secure” prison known as Tartarus is down. So like where have they put that giant man, whose name has escaped me 🤔 Gigomanchia right?! Or something like that!
Shoji from class 1A needs to have his mask ripped off his face, honestly I’m going to manifest in BNHA and do it myself! I’m so curious to what he looks like, because if I remember rightly he has faced discrimination for how he looks. Now maybe that’s because of his arms, but I also feel like maybe his face too given that he has it covered! So like what does he look like? I’m so curious! I can’t be the only one who’s curious!
So Deku, Ochaco and Shouto have their villain counterparts set up, but what about Bakugou? Who’s his counterpart? Spinner? Will that be the villain who’ll play his counterpart 🤔 or maybe he’s will be AFO alongside Deku, like he assists in taking him down!
The 2nd and 3rd user’s face reveal, whoa they be handsome but infuriating like I do think the time travel theory has been demolished. However, damn it Hori how ya going to reveal their faces, but give us no name like you honestly be dangling the sweet in front of the child and taking it away 😭!
What does Bakugou Katsuki’s bedroom look like? 🤔 another stupid curious question that pops in my head now and then! Like we did the room challenge, and saw nearly all of their bedrooms but his and Asui’s! I want to know what Katsuki “I go to bed at 8” Bakugou’s bedroom be decorated like!
There you go that’s the re-vamped list, if I have anymore rambles and thoughts I’ll just make a part 2!

BOY HOWDY @sethmacenzie LITERALLY ASKED FOR IT SO HERE’S MY TRANS GIRL SHIGARAKI AU LMAO (spoilers for the manga and I apologize how long this is)
The gist of it is that everything is fine up until Joint Training/Meta Liberation Army where Natsuo - interning at a local hospital - accidentally walks in on Garaki’s Nomu operation
It means Garaki is put in jail, the Nomu labs are shut down without being activated, and Tomura never gets injected with AFO’s Quirk (also Re-Destro and Gigantomachia die during the MLA fight because I said so)
With AFO’s grand plan having fallen apart, the League of Villains are without contact with their great leader, without Nomu, with no connection to the MLA because Re-Destro was killed, no big guns without Gigantomachia, and really no assistance of any kind, they start spiraling
Spinner manages to get together with some of the MLA remnants that weren’t killed during the Revival Celebration and form the “Chizome Akaguro Foundation for Hero Reform” which is basically what the MLA wanted to do but like, in a more structured way? They use Stain as a sort of figurehead and are constantly attacking the Hero Commission until they start giving in
Toga bunks with Tamao Oguro (Knuckleduster’s daughter) and starts working at a coffee shop using Tamao’s identity (with her consent). I think she actually starts getting in good with the hero course kids and maybe I steal ideas from that AU where Vlad King takes a shine to her and tries to recruit her as a UA student
Twice and Compress start living together and pull little heists until eventually getting recruited by Hawks, Gentle, and La Brava, working alongside the Hero Commission, as villain liaisons like Dexter kinda lmao, they help the heroes get into the minds of big villains to take them down (Hawks and Twice are buddies and besties)
Dabi DOES still spread his video message to the public about Endeavor and his Quirk marriage, which goes over PRETTY badly and Endeavor definitely drops a few pegs (like, mid-50s on the billboard) but the populace sees he’s trying and he manages to slowly earn back their favor. Touya, however, reveals that he’s never actually killed anyone, he just incinerated the area and Compress kidnapped them, keeping them hostage. With him not actually keeping any kills under his belt, he takes the Hero Provisional License Exam and vows to become a better, more popular hero than Endeavor (everybody loves a bad boy AND an underdog) (he also kinda succeeds for a while LOL, they both trade the 4th and 5th spots for a while)
Tomura... is sad lmao. She starts having visions of Nana, who says she understands what happened to her when she was little and it was okay that she hurt her father, when he dealt years and years of abuse to her and Hana. She keeps having awful, horrible dreams until Hawks finally directs her to Deku, who is also trans (he’s transmasc in this au lol)
He’s wary at first, but after making sure he knows that she’s not going to harm anyone, he starts helping her out, first with trans stuff, and eventually pulling in All Might to help her deal with her Quirk and make sure she can control it fully
And then she’s just sort of... around lol. It’s like that “domesticated villain” post, like she’ll be ambling around the UA dorms like “Where’s my estrogen. If someone doesn’t help me find my estrogen I’m going to kill Iida.” and everyone laughs, like “Classic Tomura”
I know at one point, she returns to her childhood home and picks through their old things, and at one point finds a list of baby names her parents were going to pick for her and her sister. I’m torn between three names, all four letters long ending in -na like Nana and Hana - Gina means silvery (but also sounds really American lmao like all I think of is Brooklyn 99, even though it’s my favorite of the three names), Kana means powerful which fits, and Mana means truth which would be fun for the whole transition narrative, idk. She also takes Shimura again 🥺
And then one day she’s passing by some collapsed building and is like “Oh shit” and helps disintegrate some rubble and the pro-heroes are like “Wow! That’s really useful! You should be a rescue hero!” and she’s like “I SHOULD WHAT” and it’s a very eye-opening moment about the nature of her Quirk, being used as a rescue tool instead of a killing tool and 🥺🥺🥺
Anyway thank you for asking me to indulge LMAO I’m really excited to write little snippets of this au
#anyway i love her#kana shimura au#i use kana rn while i'm messing with snippets#but i may change it to gina lol#my hero academia#boku no hero academia#mha#bnha#tomura shigaraki#trans headcanon#text post#thank you for asking for this lmao#i wanted to write it but i wasn't sure if it was too ridiculously obnoxious

Bnha 239 part 2
part 1
So Hori blessed Shigaraki stans. He says Shigaraki stans should get what they want in life. We’re living in this blessed timeline where we see Shiggy fanservice this entire chapter, huh.
Everyone’s trying to get to the epicenter while avoiding Decay, and it’s interesting to see that nobody really died from it onscreen - just some disintegrated clothing. Maybe it’s due to its wide-spread effect that the chain-effect stops after one item gets decayed through the ground?
Anyway, poor Spinner is still trying his best.
I’ve been worrying over Giran for the past few chapters, and it’s good to see him alive! I hope they won’t get caught up in Decay. Maybe if Decay is controlled enough, it can selectively disintegrate stuff? Like it can leave the LOV alone while targeting others?
So the question is: Is Shigaraki still walking down the path set by All For One, or is he truly free? His desire for destruction is a result of his own quirk, but it was AFO who taught him not to be afraid of it and that other people’s lives are in his hands, living or dying depending on him. By AFO and Re-Destro’s definition, Shigaraki is free. Free from his past, his guilt, his fears, his limitations. I guess we’ll see how his character progresses and what he’ll do after this, to really see what he’s become.
Here we see cracks forming on Shigaraki’s skin as he disintegrates another part of town. He’s not so immune to his own quirk, like Dabi’s skin melting and similar effects of overexertion. The shockwave looks like a giant hand print slammed against it... there’s a lot of background art this chapter and it’s really awesome to see the scale of it all.
Shigaraki is enjoying himself as he wrecks everything around him. Compare that to the visually similar part in chapter 236:
If Tenko hadn’t killed his family, he could have learned to use his quirk in a healthier way. By associating it with death and destruction, then taught to accept these aspects of his quirk as aspects of him, it really shows how completely Shigaraki accepts himself now - and how he ceases to see the Shimura death as a tragedy and a negative aspect of his quirk.
Beautiful double-page. There’s now a giant crater in the middle of the city, stopping right before Gigantomachia. How are they going to explain what happened here to the outside world? It certainly doesn’t look like an earthquake.
A lot of buildings got destroyed as well, and I mentioned in my previous post that a lot of liberation army soldiers are essentially homeless, and they’re normal citizens. Where are they going to go? I imagine a lot of the money is actually going to the rebuilding effort.
Also, Re-Destro pulls an Overhaul and cuts off his own legs. Hardcore. It’ll be cool to see him in a weaponized wheelchair or prosthetic legs.
Look at this page and tell me Horikoshi isn’t all about giving Shigaraki stans the food they want. We get the two finally standing on the same level, Shigaraki grinning triumphantly while Re-Destro looks defeated. We also see the extent of the damage Shigaraki’s quirk caused him with his injured foot and Deku-like arms (Matching scars?).
Both are half-naked. Why is this ship a thing and why am I seeing so many things that supports it? Makes me want to dedicate a whole post analyzing all the signs we picked up.
The running theme of Shigaraki being able to instill fear with a glance, enough to overcome fanatics boosted by emotion-enhancing quirk.
But fanatics they may be, at least Re-Destro realizes it and prefers to prioritize lives. I like that. It’s way better than the yakuza who prioritized the boss and didn’t care for their own lives or the other underlings.
And unlike the Eight Precepts of Death who were never about a fair partnership, Re-Destro is earnest in him wishing to see Shigaraki shine, that he would go to this extent just to see Destro’s dream realized.
Love that lightbulb moment and teh fact that Shigaraki’s first thought after becoming their leader is money (and food). Just these little things in life.
Now the villains got... Gigantomachia, 100,000 Liberation army people give or take (including heroes), a (destroyed) city, Detnerat tech, a political party, an IT company that has a satellite in space, Ujiko and his High-Ends, whatever Ujiko says he’ll give Shigaraki if he beat Machia, John-chan’s warping, Quirk-erasing bullets that can probably be reproduced with Detnerat tech, Hawks (kinda),Twice-army, Toga upgrade, Shigaraki upgrade, money, sushi.
The heroes are kinda screwed.

there is some stratospherically awful stuff like framing Toga’s backstory as her parents being “worried about her future” even though MVA had already run, so we knew good and well that Toga's parents' reaction to her quirk was to beg their three-year-old to be normal and tell her her smile made her look like a deviant. — To me, it’s another layer of japanese society. That’s the tragedy of it. I could see this from my grandparents and my uncles’ families. They say these hurtful things in order to make you conform because of both care and collective bs. It’s why I’m not surprised at all that they washed their hands of toga after she killed someone. Society would expect that and think there’s something wrong with them too if they didn’t. So yeah I don’t think there’s anything false with that description just that I don’t agree with the actions they took.
Getting back into the ask backlog! This was in reply to this post about character profiles.
So, point taken about the collectivist angle. I can just about buy that what we see in MVA is a somewhat extreme take on worry for how Toga could fit into society from misguided but well-intentioned parents. Back then, we didn’t know how they reacted other than the baby bird incident—there's one shot of an older Toga being rebuked to just act like a normal little girl, but we don't have any particular context for it, and I can see the baby bird incident being rattling and upsetting enough to shake free some too-sharp words. Also too, I certainly recall a lot of people, back when those chapters dropped, thinking that the takeaway was meant to be, “Oh, so she was supposed to be a villain from the start."*
That’s all from before we found out that her parents stopped measuring her height at three years old, though. That image certainly doesn’t give one the impression that here were parents who loved their daughter regardless of her troubles and were just doing what they thought was best for her; it really does feel like they all but gave up on her the moment her quirk came in. It all puts me much in mind of Re-Destro's comments from the observation tower, about how Hero Society insists on clinging to old ideas of "normal" regardless of how much the world has changed. What does being normal and fitting in even look like, in a world that glorifies heroes like BNHA!Japan's does? And what could it ever look like for Toga, with her quirk being what it is?
Of course, like I said in the post you’re quoting, anon, Ultra Analysis came out some time ago, well before the flashback in 341. That’s why I’m hoping any third one we ever get drops the framing device of the villains’ profiles being performatively filtered through an implicitly heroic “narrator.” If you’re trying to keep the villains scary and, well, villainous, I can see taking that sympathetic stance on Toga’s parents, especially when the narrative was so sympathetic to Kotarou as well. But Hori has long since dropped that desire to keep his villains at arms-length, so I wish the data books would follow suit and stop playing up the Hero/Villain divide the canon itself has been throwing more and more into question.
Thanks for the ask, and for sharing your perspective!
* Largely the same people who came away from the Shimura flashbacks with the conclusion that Tenko was born twisted just like AFO said back at the beginning. I'll tell you guys, if you ever get tired of the tumblr discourse, you know where is a good place to go to get a refresher on what non-tumblr fans think? The Viz comment section, that's where. Yeesh.
#bnha#toga himiko#stillness answers#stillness answers more#I read the viz comment section when I'm tired of tumblr slapping ill-fitting social justice words on their argument for emphasis#to remind myself that there are people whose bnha opinions are just as bad but in the opposite direction

I don’t often do meta, but here I am. After seeing a post regarding this panel from the chapter 270 leaks:
And the theory basically becoming re-confirmed how that the hands in this panel are the same hands that he has on his body in the exact locations (his dad’s hand, his sister’s hand, his mom’s hand, his maternal grandpa’s hand, his maternal grandma’s hand, and two random street guy’s hands—which was confirmed before this chapter), The person from the original post which I have linked above brought up how Shigaraki’s hand on his head which was Shimura Nana’s hand in this panel, got destroyed and All for One apparently gave him another hand which was thought to be Nana’s other hand.
So then this got me thinking some angsty things. That All for One has Nana’s body somewhere—that it wasn’t destroyed to smithereens in the explosion during her fight with him in All Might Rising. It makes sense if All for One was giving Shigaraki her hands. What if he made her into Woman (the female Nomu)? We know how Kurogiri was Shirakumo. So what if Woman is Nana? What if All for One still has some of Nana’s blood?
From those what ifs I started thinking about All Might and how his possible death may happen. I wrote a short post about how I was thinking that Shiragaki would be the one to kill him since he’s Nana’s grandson and how All Might would die trying to save Shigaraki and get him to hear the truth. (To a lesser extent I was thinking All for One would kill him, but I feel like his battle with All Might is done.) Now with the possibility that All for One might have Nana’s blood, that would be a perfect way for Toga to use it to transform into her and go after All Might. All for One’s trusted doctor Garaki Kyudai/Ujiko Daruma embalmed the hands for Shigaraki and made the Nomu so it could be possible that he is holding onto Nana’s blood since All for One is in prison. Due to his closeness with the doctor he could have told him about Nana’s fate and how Shigaraki is her grandson.
Now Toga would have to learn about Nana in order to impersonate her, obviously. She’d have to disguise herself to get into the prison to talk to AfO or just take the easy route with the possibility that the doctor knows about her. Then she’d get the blood sample from him and drink it. Boom. Transformation. Then once she got to All Might she’d convince him that “she’s” still alive and try to convince him into believing that she’s the real Nana. It would shock him so badly and break his heart. Even more so when she turns on him and attacks him. Maybe blames him for not staying to fight to help her. After a fatal blow to All Might, Toga goes back to her actual form and All Might feels even more heartbroken as he lays there bleeding out.
Now with the Woman theory to lastly connect to the hands from these 270 leaks, Nana being made into her and going after All Might. In his true form he wouldn’t be able to do as much despite still being agile. Woman was described as a more intelligent type than the other Nomu and could talk with complete sense and good grammar despite being aggressive and bloodthirsty. Due to that maybe Woman/Nana retained memories of her past, but suppressed them. Let’s say that her intelligence allows her to find All Might. Due to her being made that way she has inner conflicts inside of her mind due to still retaining those memories of him. She attacks him fatally because of the memories trying flooding when she gets to him. And then he finds out that Woman is Nana and he’s lying there heartbroken and slipping away.
Man, I love destroying my feels with my love for All Might.

Hope to have sent all correctly but this is to say: this is the place AFO took Dabi , spinner and slept after the attack. Now I’ll check for you the time.
I think doesn’t really comply to the case , but AFO demanded for one of them to stay awake and basically take care of Shiga’s body. Now the deal is: I’d expect endeavor waking up being on the news. So while Touya is talking the news wasn’t still of public domain. In fact Enji just woke up from surgery I supposed. AFO inform us that he started his breakout right away , the same evening. But he arrived at the house at the dawn. Basically is tomorrow already. So Bakugo could have wake up 2 days of calendar or less. It would be
- Jakku happen on 1st of the month (to make math easier) AFO and league arrived on 2nd. Bakugo took two full days from Jakku to wake up , that’s mean a full 2 and a full day 3c waking up on 4th or
- Jakku happens on 1st, AFO escapes in 2nd. Bakugo then wake up somewhere in the day 3rd.
Because Shigaraki needs recovery I think no issues on AFO behalf to have him rest the whole 2nd day. This means that the whole league is resting through days number 2 and 3 when Bakugo wakes up. And if we opt this option we know that Bakugo’s waking up is the same of Enji, when he meets Rei and Dabi’s monologue starts as well.
If we pick the second option the reason why we hadn’t seen spinner or skeptic is super easy: AFO said and demand for one of them to patrol. And I think that why Dabi is alone , shirtless on the sofa. He’s just rehearsing what happened (giving us his flashback) while doing what AFO asked. If so, spinner is most likely sleeping (or taking care of Shiga).
So yep : this is the same house. AFO took all of them there , but Toga (who’s wandering somewhere) and most likely Touya is patrolling while Spinner takes some rest (or take care of his new reason to live).
Also i think I’ve already sent you a geographic thing (maybe you thought of it as too boring :( )
But I think it’s possible to roughly track down toga. Now , I’ve found some posts which claimed that Jakku showed Tsukasa clinic (the clinic in which works Deku’s doctor). MHA city has been told being 2 hours by train from Tokyo roughly. This we are extreme close by our main cast ‘s houses. Infact it was said they were born in one or another prefecture , but not which one. Because all students were living in their houses before training camp we can easily supposed that all students have it less than one/two hour by train from ua. So either the main city should be in Shizuoka or in yamanashi, but most likely not in Tokyo special prefecture (because it was said all might agency is in Tokyo, like they aren’t in Tokyo ). Thus if it’s all correct, I think Toga is currently very far from the league and she will take a loooong road to make her appearance again on her mates side. This or Toga will be seen with the main cast.
And last but not least (I swearc the last):nope , AFO doesn’t give a damn of PLF. nor do Shiga nor Dabi. And nor did toga or twice . Maybe spinner and compress were ok with that but... this can be seen throw tiny details (yep I love details!).Shigaraki : after he defeated Re-Destro he had an durala moments and asked “you have money right?” So nope , he didn’t care he just wanted financial stability. Infact if you look at the panel in which hawks meets the PLF attendants you can see that all league is in the right of the table while there’s only one empty chair , at redestro’s right. Symbolically it makes no sense: the leader should be in the centre or his best man should be on the right (the right hand man). I think the seat was empty because the league never lost its identity. They were their own pack, and put redestro, the most annoying one as far as possible , and near “Shigaraki” (who wasn’t there so everyone was happy)- Dabi: he of course couldn’t care less about the PLF. he cares about the league at the very best. He was also the only member wkth toga to share a regiment with Geten. Now , this two aren’t compatible. I think Shigaraki to calm the waters placed toga because she’s a sweetheart (he also sent her to overhaul) and Dabi because he has his own agenda, so he does what he wants. Now , I think Dabi only cared about skeptic. For many reason too long to explain I think Dabi already knew everything about Tomie before Deika. But now with a satellite he could broadcast everything on the national tv. Soooo he never cared (like anything really) but he found something useful- Twice: when hawks entered in the PLF his assignment was speaking destro’s book. Infact he was assigned to Twice regiment but we can see him trying to explain Twice something. Now , hawks read all the book (his coded message) so I guess he was trying to teach Twice what it talked about it. It means twice doesn’t even care about the PLF ‘s ideals.- Toga , Compress and Spinner: they had never express about PLF, but Compress said to love the league not the front , same goes for Spinner. This also makes sense for the regiments: Shiga picked the most adorable villain , who could face even Overhaul without losing her composure (toga) and the one who’s always missing (Dabi). Spinner and compress puts lots of heart in their doings , so I guess sooner or later a conflict would have arisen. But from toga and Dabi? It won’t happen. They are both smart and sly, one is adorable and flexible, the other has a devil may care attitude and he’s always missingShigaraki liked PLF because of his friends. Toga was sad about her torn jacket. In 220 Compress said “if we accepted Overhaul deals we would be eaten sushi by now!” And immediately what their first dinner ? Sushi, liked compress said. I think Shigaraki didn’t have a clue about Touya, but there’s one thing he always did: doing what he wants. Network and recruits was a suit of Dabi, and thus Shiga provided him with new toys and more money. Twice wanted company , and he had. After all Shiga said that he wants to destroy anything but what they likes; they can do what they wants to, and everything is for their sakes.AFO.... he clearly doesn’t care about anything but himself.‘I really disliked , Shigaraki forever. He ditched Toga; as well, he said Compress to “not worry about”. And where is compress now ? Under arrest. Nice. We saw Dabi fixing his own stamples with no aid, so he needs health care but he wasn’t given any (what a overlord of evil, couldn’t he steal a doctor? No healing quirks up to his Darth Vader’s helmet?) and instead what he does ? He puts someone on patrol - most likely Touya himself , but he’s hurt and tired too. I really loved Spinner insight. He’s the closest to Shiga. He can tell AFO isn’t him. Because I really doubt Shigaraki would have ditched two people and leave another one with pain and health issues (as much as he could provide) to check the area. So summing up, the league is the league imo. They are the core. And i reeeeeally hope that their well defined identity in the group will rise to kick AFO from their club. The more I think about ... the more I think that the apple of chaos it’s Toga. She has a twisted but great theme with “love”. She “loves” Izuku, and she “loves” uraraka. She was also the one who questioned Shigaraki who reassured her (they are his allies , they can do what they like). But AFO doesn’t care at all. AFO wants to erased and most likely kill Deku. So it makes sense pulling her out of equation. But when she’ll be back... I don’t know what it might happen. She might be the first to bring a clash maybe ?Plus we have another very interesting detail, now about Tartarus. Which is Kurogiri. In fact police asked Aizawa and Mic to go and see him. Now , If you remember, All Might had that adorable gig with sugar and the students asked about Aizawa. All might said it was an emergency call. Now emergency means “reach a place quickly”. However in chapter 253 we got to see Mic’s car. Now , I’ve been there. You won’t find any car like his in japan. Well , if it’s a Japanese car. I considered it could be an old model (toyota’s had this shape in the 70s 80s, kind of). But the vertical striped makes me think of a dove challenger. Same with the splits on the hood, made to cool down the engine. These are pretty much traits to have dodges in media. Another peculiar thing is the wheel is on the left. This means that while we don’t know we’re Tartarus is exactly , it’s surely near UA , , in a prefecture near the coast. This is because if it were further , Aizawa and Mic would have need to book some train tickets and then reaching the place by car with police or renting. Also, when All might and Aizawa meet the parents in chapter 96, they were driven here and there by someone else (a loft offered by the school). Instead Mic is driving his own American car with the wheel on the left. Most likely they received the call and Mic immediately hop on car with Aizawa. This means that wherever it is , Tartarus is very close to UA, most likely in the same prefecture. Then if we considered how Tartarus is , it can’t be in Tokyo bay ( you can see the other side by sight , while Tartarus is isolated) but I’d place my bets on either Chiba prefecture (where Kirishima and Ashido are from) or Shizuoka (where the main trio and many others are from). That being said, I’d place my odds on Shizuoka because the majority of character are there and because Yaomomo is from Aichi. I took her because people like Kirishima or Mina aren’t that rich and don’t have a massive mansion - their family could have transfer or they can make an effort to go to UA. While I can’t see Yaomomo’s family giving up their house, becuase it’s that big; and aichi shares a border with Shizuoka, while Chiba doesn’t.Basically this to say: probably UA is based in Shizuoka , were also Tartarus and Jakku are. And if this is all correct AFO positively ditched Toga, who’s now in Shizuoka while others are in Niigata. Not so kind of him.
Ahhhh cool! Thanks so much!

BnHA Chapter 266: Sad Naruto Flute Music
Previously on BnHA: Tamaki ate a horse; Dark Shadow punched Re-Destro through a wall; Gigantomachia didn’t want to wake up from his nap; Tokoyami climbed inside of Fatgum’s stomach like a little emo joey and mused about Hawks; Hawks was all “am I evil or no? history shall decide!” and sort of kind of maybe tried to kill Twice; and then Dabi showed up and set the two of them on fire before you could say “stop, drop, and roll.” All of this was a real chapter that really happened. Anyway but then Hawks saved Twice by pulling him out of the fire, which I totally didn’t notice during my first readthrough last week, so that’s nice. But then Dabi stepped on Hawks’s face and used his quirk again. So that was not so nice. We’re really having ourselves an arc, here.
Today on BnHA: Well you know the old saying. Save a man from burning and you feed him for a day, stab him while he’s running away and you feed him for life. Oh, the chapter? Right. Well Hawks is perfectly fine aside from getting a sexy scar for his troubles, which I’ll have you know I did predict. Twice however is not so fine, which, fun fact, I did not predict. If you’re just joining us. Yeah. I boofed it. Anyway so Hawks escapes Dabi using the power of mysterious main character logic, and then he stabs Twice, and Twice dies, very slowly and sadly and in Toga’s arms. That’s it that’s the chapter. You’ll love it. It’s full of feels. And death. Lol I’m in a mood right now I’m sorry guys. I’m gonna go write some healing Bakugou essays.
so as mentioned on the “previously” section above, Hawks saved Twice’s life! meanwhile Dabi apparently arrived in time to listen to Hawks’s “here I go... time to kill you... really gonna do it... here it comes...” speech for at least several seconds before he finally decided to make his grand entrance, as evidenced by him quoting Hawks’s “sentiment” line right back in his face before setting him on fire. so basically Hawks is still okay and villains gonna villain. this is my conclusion and 4 out of 5 dentists approve but you can form your own judgements as well and that’s fine!
(ETA: this is all your fault fifth dentist.)
anyway so before we begin, full disclosure, I was warned this chapter would make me cry. so that ominous pronouncement is gonna be weighing on my mind while we embark upon our weekly manga journey today, but alas such is life! at least life in March 2020. did we really expect any good news at this point. I want a refund on this whole year but apparently I should get in line
so here we go. someone is narrating and it’s not quite clear who
but the “you’ve just been unlucky” part is a reference to what Hawks was telling Twice in chapter 264, so unless Dabi was listening in on that part too, I would think this would have to be Twice? even though Dabi’s the one whose face is so prominent here, all handsome and crazy
omg Hawks is holding on to his feather and using his tk to blast away while holding Twice
what a fucking thing to do. is the fucking feather still on fire. and somehow he hasn’t instinctively let go of it?? THIS BOY I SWEAR TO GOD
and so he’s definitely going to have a scar there now it looks like! pretty sure this makes him an honorary Todoroki. aww
and also Twice seems to possibly be unconscious, so I guess that was Dabi’s narration?? you mean to tell me Dabi was basically sitting outside for like a full five minutes. were you fixing your hair. getting ready to livestream?? “hey there villain nation it’s me ya boi, so I’m here in the Hilton Gunga Heights and omg like a shitton of heroes have attacked us out of fucking nowhere, and now the number two hero is getting ready to fucking murder my bro Twice, and he hasn’t even noticed I’m here yet. shit is totally crazy, anyways before we go on just a reminder to click on the link below to check out our official league merch, and if you haven’t already, click on the button to like and subscribe, it really helps us out.” and then boom, just in time to save Twice from Mr. To Stab or Not to Stab
(ETA: now that we know it’s actually Twice what am I gonna do with all these Dabi social media jokes. huh?! Horikoshi you ruined everything!!)
oh this chapter is apparently called “Happy Life.” that’s fun I’m sure we’re going to have a really fun time here
(ETA: so fun the funnest.)
Dabi doesn’t really seem fazed though
yeah he’s fucked we know don’t have to rub it in ffff
(ETA: Dabi. we underestimated him, Dabi.)
so Hawks is all “you nearly murdered your bro just fyi” and Dabi is all “smirk it’s fine cuz I knew you were going to save him cuz ~that’s ~what ~heroes ~do” wow you guys. I just realized that between Dabi and Hawks, this has the potential to be the single snarkiest fight we’ve ever had in this manga. my hype for this chapter just went up 10x
also even though I just summarized these last few panels I’m also going to post them so we can all shamelessly admire hot wounded Hawks
hot damn. you were right, AFO. wounded heroes are the sexiest. I may be paraphrasing a bit
also two things, (1) looks like he called some of his feathers back (so then WHERE WERE THEY??), but it’s not much. and (2) he was wearing gloves this whole time that’s right I forgot. so maybe his hands are okay?? the hell are those made of, damn
oh my freaking lord
this is one attractive chapter I’ll give it that. also raise your hand if you’re surprised that Dabi never actually trusted Hawks. yeah that’s what I thought
well shit looks like we’re finally getting some Hawks thoughts! unsurprisingly, they are all “I’m fucked”
please note that while talking!Hawks is continuing to be all sassy, thinking!Hawks is busy tallying up Jin’s injuries. this is a good sign, maybe. I hope. lol
anyway but speaking of Jin, what is going on
oh lol he’s making a break for it
this is so bad you guys. this is so so bad. if Twice lives that’s all well and good, but if he escapes, Hawks is 100% right about how dangerous he is. they could literally capture 90% of PLF in this raid and it would hardly even matter. also in the meantime the #2 hero is about to be roasted alive so that’s also not great for the hero side all things considered
ohhhhhhhhhhhhh no. I don’t like this. no no no
why did we suddenly cut to outside and someone’s screaming (?) echoing from offscreen. I’m trying to think of not-terrible explanations for this and coming up short. uh
now we’re back to Hawks/Twice/Dabi, only I don’t see Hawks yet. but Twice is just barely dodging the flame blast, and meanwhile Dabi is all
is he talking to Twice?
yep he’s talking to Twice
that’s fine. that’s all I need. for Twice to “go wild” while my nine-year-old son is outside with his batteries all fried and innocently waiting for someone to lead him back to where his other child soldier friends are waiting for him. like. say what you will about Hawks and betrayal, but there was a fucking reason he was trying to take Twice out first
hmm but we’re getting this slow-motion panel now and FUCK ME I SWEAR TO GOD IF A FEATHER PIERCES HIS HEART OUT OF NOWHERE I’M GONNA LOSE IT
WAIT WHAT
EXCUSE ME BUT
? ??????????
well you sure have been made to look the fool now, Dabi. thought you’d won just because you had Hawks cornered in a narrow room and you set him on fire while standing in between him and the only exit. rookie fucking mistake. you scrub. you clod. you halfwit. how could you let this happen. wow I can’t believe Dabi let Hawks escape unscathed except for a sexy scar and that’s the end of the chapter
LMAO
oh my god. well good news everyone this chapter did indeed make me cry
(ETA: listen. I’m going to hell, I know. but it’s still funny as fuck.)
“he went outside with the blast... and flanked me?!” ...sure. sure let’s just go with that. seems reasonable
actually no, sorry, I literally went back two chapters to see if there was another way out of this room, and nope
by the way that last panel is apparently from Dabi’s POV if I’m understanding this right. just standing behind Hawks waiting for youtube live to connect
but anyway. so no exit. meaning Dabi apparently torched a hole right through the wall and Hawks just sat there and was all “okay this hurts like a mother but if I wait it out a few more seconds I think I can... there we go!” you know, logic
so now there is a ton of action happening which I can’t quite understand, but also Dabi is shouting Hawks’s real name for some reason
why do I feel like this is definitely the last page before somebody definitely fucking dies. shit. shit
oh thank god so far so good. and also, lol
BECAUSE HE READ THE DATABOOK, HAWKS. that’s probably how he figured out you were a spy too. we’ve been had
oh snap?!
don’t do this to me Horikoshi. don’t give me hope. don’t act like you’re gonna actually address this topic sometime before the heat death of the universe
AND HE’S OUT
MY BABY OFF TO DESTROY PEOPLE. ;_; shitttt hahaha nervous laughter Ralph Wiggum sitting on the bus etc.
GODDAMN IT HORIKOSHI
I don’t want Twice to kill anyone but it doesn’t mean I want him to die either! just!! can’t I have it both ways?? please stop with this I can’t take it also what is Spinner doing. and also YAY GIRAN SIGHTING hot damn the sex appeal of this chapter is fast approaching critical levels
GOD FUCKING DAMMIT FUCK
fuck me. [eyes post from last week] the real announcer jinx was the metas we made along the way
well we’re cutting away again!! because of course we are!! Horikoshi won’t show violence unless it’s a dog exploding or a little boy accidentally murdering his entire family
[taps megaphone] this thing on. all right then. [clears throat] NO ONE WANTS THIS
FOR FUCK’S SAKE
“I KNOW YOU’RE ALL DYING TO SEE WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN, SO HERE, LET’S CUT TO A RANDOM PAGE OF TOGA AND COMPRESS BEING CAPTURED BY A MAN WITH HUNGRY HUNGRY HIPPO ARMS”
oh damn but are they really captured though??
forgive me for being skeptical. not to doubt you, Hungry Hungry Hippo Man. I’m sure you’re absolutely right and your sentence cut off at the end there because you remembered that they changed their name to Pliff, and not because you’re being stabbed or burned or impaled or whatever the fuck
!!!
HE LIVED BITCH
yes he totally lived and this definitely isn’t so that he can get one final scene with Toga before he suddenly keels over and dies. shit. at this point it’s fucking inevitable. you had to go and drag his girlfriend into this. I’m so sad you guys I can’t even deal with these emotions I’m just gonna stubbornly joke about stupid shit until I figure out what the fuck else to do
OH MY GOD!!!!???
HE DIED BITCH!?!??
he’s already dead he’s already fucking dead fucking shit
ohhhhhh it’s pouring down sads now
my bird son really went and fucking killed the sweetest little dumpling in the manga. I wrote like 5 thousands essays defending you, Hawks. we gonna have to get you a damn good lawyer now
why is sad flute music from the Naruto OST playing
he’s not gonna need it where he’s going Toga. because they already have plenty of handkerchiefs on the farm. and lots of room for him to run around and play with other villains too
lmao fuck
I really did this to myself, why did I actually start playing Sadness and Sorrow fuck my life. real actual tears
and it SEEMS TO ME, YOU LIVED YOUR LIFE, LIKE A CANDLE IN THE WIND~~~
[sad makeste noises]
AND I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO KNOW YOU
BUT I WAS JUST A KID~~

Hi! I hope you don't mind me writing to you, I've been re-reading Butterfly (like, a lot, an almost embarassing number of times except I'm in no way ashamed it's so good...) and then I read a couple of tiny lines and a theory struck me like a bolt of lightning and I wound up ranting to my sister about it in the middle of the shampoo aisle of a CVS because I was so excited, and so I wanted to share. It kind of hit me when Butterffly's found in Midoriya's house, and its shoes are described. (Cont)
“Pt 2) The shoes were described as a dirty sort or orange brown, and all of a sudden I could imagine that any alternate universe Izuku, no matter how twisted or dirty or misguided, would still have red shoes and that they would be absolutely destroyed living on the land as Butterfly has been. And then so many other things kept jumping out at me. Toga confirming the voice changing quirk alluded to before, Butterfly's cunning, their insistence that they're not a villain. And their interest (Cont)
Pt 3) /angry obsession with Midoriya. I keep imagining an alternate Universe Izuku that was never offered OFA, who maybe fell into the wrong crowd in despair (maybe a certain quirk stealing villain...) I mean, this thing attacks Midoriya psychologically and then gauges out the eyes of his plushie (which embodies Izuku as a hero, living a dream maybe butterfly didn't get.) This is very personal/possibly a sign of extreme self loathing with the eyes. And movie night had au/evil Superman! (Cont)
(Pt 4) You keep subtly referencing the butterfly effect, falling off or staying on the path of fate, the Flash and other worlds, bizarro superman. And 1-A! They keep having dreams where Midoriya is gone and they died because of it (Or, like Ashido's, potentially had her quirk stolen and killed a la AFO?) Bakugo's dream seems to show everything matched up to the slime villain. And how else would butterfly have THIS Aizawa's quirk, when we know someone else got their quirk stolen entirely?? (Cont)
(Pt 5) We don't know anything for certain, but we think Butterfly's stolen a quirk, killed maybe 3 people, and then hounded Midoriya and hurt others to get to him. But none of that is proven! And we also don't have a motive, most of the students being hurt were incidental! And they're killing all Nomus. My thought is an AU Izuku was groomed by OFA who played upon his insecurities and gave him quirks. Izuku is an experiment or successor and right now is hunting Midoriya down to either (Cont)
(Pt 6) replace him, punish him, or alter this universe's timeline based on his own knowledge. (One of the only things we've heard him say is that he's "waiting", but we don't know for what.) So that's my theory, sorry it's such a mess. (Also, my sister later sent me that post you had a while back about Butterfly breaking their bones to move and she just said "Yep, he breaks bones in any universe, he's definitely Midoriya!") Anyway, thank you for listening to my rambling! Such a gripping story!”
Wow, this is a fun theory!

Who is the bitch in the first year hero courses most down for murder, do you think? Surprisingly, despite being the only one to actually MAKE death threats, I'm mot sure Bakugou is all that high up there? When you've got Todo freezing people from the inside out, Mushroom Girl choking people, Honenuki drowning people and dropping industrial chimneys on them etc etc... What would your rankings be?
what better way to spend a Sunday evening than by ranking all of U.A.’s first-year students by murder.
disclaimer: I am doing this for fun and this entire post is ridiculous so please do not take it too seriously. also just a heads up, this post contains some recent manga spoilers as well as a couple of spoilers for Heroes Rising. now then, let’s quantify these bloodthirsty little savages.
okay so despite being entirely too plus ultra for their own good, approximately 99% of these kids would never dream of doing any kind of permanent harm to another living being. so I’m just listing the first thirty in no particular order, and then we’ll get to ranking the top ten.
Aoyama
despite having that brief moment in chapter 167 where virtually everyone thought he was a serial killer, Aoyama is actually a good boy. a bit stalkerish, maybe.
Mina
Mina did dream up that one attack where Ochako floats her up in the air so that she can rain acid down on people, which is slightly homicidal. but she’s not a killer. honestly if she was we’d all be dead already. see: thicc Girl Noumu.
Tsuyu
if Tsuyu had ever killed someone she would have already told everyone all about it because she is open about these things so safe to say she is not a killer.
Ochako
all Ochako wants to do is help and support people. she can be pretty hardcore from time to time but my baby girl would never. not to say that villain wouldn’t be a good look on her. I still get a shiver up my spine remembering that one time Toga turned into her and demonstrated exactly how deadly her quirk could be.
Ojiro
nah. the worst thing Ojiro has ever done was throwing his empty plain yogurt cup into the wrong recycling bin by accident, and he felt terrible about it afterward.
Kaminari
real talk, Kaminari could very easily kill a ton of people with his quirk if he actually tried. but he hasn’t, because he is only two and is too busy learning his shapes and colors and leaving his lego duplo blocks all over the carpet for other people to trip on.
Kirishima
do I even have to justify this at all. duh Kirishima doesn’t murder people sorry to anyone who came into this post all excited to read a big paragraph going off about Kiri’s raw bloodlust. I don’t know what you expected.
Kouda
Kouda is probably deadlier than everyone thinks. imagine him commanding, say, a mob of giant hornets to swarm and kill someone. it’s a good thing he wouldn’t actually hurt a fly.
Satou
I sat here for a while thinking about what I could say about Satou. but just. can you picture him killing a guy? nah, me neither.
Shouji
one of the things I like about Shouji is that he looks older than he is, and kind of creepy, what with the masked face and the freaky tentacle arms and all the like. and so he very likely experienced some of that good old fashioned quirk racism growing up, and people were afraid of him and/or thought he would become a villain. but instead he decided to become a hero. and I think that says so much about Shouji’s character. it reminds me a lot of Shinsou; his desire to become a hero was so strong that he overcame prejudice and circumstances which could just have easily have led to him becoming a villain (and in fact, it’s not all that different from some of the actual villain backstories). anyway so yeah no murder for him.
Jirou
I think she would consider killing anyone who ever hurt Momo or Kami, but aside from that NO because she is a good pure girl who loves music and rocking out and putting smiles on people’s faces.
Sero
poor Sero is so not-murdery that when he does get pitted against someone with more murdery energy such as Todoroki, he basically gets immediately overwhelmed and everyone is just kind of wincing and then timidly applauding him and saying “good try.” that’s Sero’s life. he would just sit there and get murdered rather than going in for the kill. he’s a good bro.
Mineta
needs several restraining orders filed against him, but wouldn’t actually kill someone.
Momo
well one time she did explode a grenade in Aizawa’s face. but no.
Awase
now we have come to the 1-B kids. I will give brief descriptions in case you, like me, sometimes have trouble remembering their names. so, Awase! the welding, Momo-rescuing one. he is not murdery.
Sen
the rotating limbs one. one of the least murdery kids in the fairly murderous 1-B on account of his quirk is just too ridiculous. sorry Sen.
Kuroiro
the Tokoyami one. more likely to bore you to tears talking about death than actually kill someone. which is too bad because he honestly would make a pretty bitching assassin.
Kendou
would say she’s probably in the top fifteen. god I love her quirk so much. just want her to slap some bitches to death. but she probably wouldn’t.
Shishida
the growly monster one. he does get some bonus points for tending to lose control once he goes full beastmode and werewolfs out. and he is fairly deadly.
Shouda
the roly poly double smashy one. it’s actually only a matter of time before Shouda kills someone, most likely. his quirk is way too dangerous, and the thing is, it’s probably hard for him to tell how dangerous a particular impact is going to be beforehand. one of these days it’s gonna be way stronger than he intends and somebody’s neck is gonna get snapped.
Pony
never forget that time Pony stabbed Ojiro and Shouji like a dozen times and everybody was just cool with it.
Tsuburaba
the air platform one. he did try to suffocate Kouda that one time.
Tetsutetsu
only if he’s fighting Shouto. or teamed up with Shouto. then all bets are off as to whether or not he’s going to drill his superheated steel fist right through somebody’s face.
Tokage
the severed limbs one. she just has kind of a murdery vibe to her. stalking everyone with her various body parts. yuuugh. I bet if she did kill someone nobody would ever be able to prove it was her.
Manga
the speech bubble head one. is going to destroy so much public and private property once he’s set loose on the streets. but no deaths.
Bondo
the glue one. and nah, Bondo is cool.
Koudai
the Ant-Man one. doesn’t strike me as particularly murderous, I even went and reread her part of the joint training arc to confirm it. she’s fine.
Rin
the kung fu dragon one. not especially murdery. overall probably one of the least bloodthirsty in class 1-B in fact.
Shiozaki
the vines one. she’s extremely murdery. I can’t be the only one who thinks that, can I? Shiozaki scares the shit out of me. if I were Kaminari I would have nightmares about her.
Monoma
would murder every single member of class 1-A if he could. would be the criminal in a Detective Conan two-parter. would give a long monologue about always being the side character and never in the starring role until one day he finally couldn’t take it anymore and snapped. why does his hero costume make it look as though he’s going to steal a bunch of famous jewels out from under everyone’s noses. nah but I’m just kidding and Monoma would never actually kill someone. but one day he’s probably going to be framed for murder by a villain and Kendou and Shinsou will have to team up to defend him and catch the real culprit.
10. Yanagi
the creepy pale ghost-girl-looking one. contrary to what you are probably all thinking, her high ranking isn’t just because of her general horror film vibe, but also because she attempted to bludgeon Mina to death during the joint battle arc. but also yes it is because of her general horror film vibe.
9. Kamakiri
the stabby one. he’s up here because I’m pretty sure he tried to kill Jirou that one time. like what was he even gonna do if Bakugou hadn’t stepped in. though to be fair I don’t think he actually had his knives out at the time so maybe he was just gonna elbow her in the face or something idk.
8. Bakugou
I agree with you that Bakugou is much more bark than bite, anon. and not only is he remarkably careful and precise with his quirk and good at avoiding any collateral damage (and even better IMO ever since his supplementary training), I think that due to his various struggles with being perceived as a villain and also trying to find his own understanding of what being a hero means, he’s probably more self-aware than most of the other kids at this point when it comes to matters of “is this morally okay.” so in spite of his generally violent demeanor, I very much doubt he ever would or could actually kill someone. but he’s in the top ten because his high shounen protagonist levels do place him in the “would potentially go apeshit if and when something happened to someone he cares about” category, though. and also because he and Deku did basically attempt to disintegrate Nine, and then when Nine just dropped off the face of the earth afterwards, no one even bothered to wonder what had happened to him. which leads me to wonder if Deku and Katsuki straight up assume they did in fact kill him and just dgaf.
7. Deku
see above re: Nine. and also he may have to kill AFO one day. so while he probably wouldn’t be happy about it, I think he could still potentially do it. and also because he absolutely does lose his gotdamn mind every time someone hurts one of his friends, and especially Kacchan, and I could picture him just snapping if something really awful ever actually did happen. I don’t think it would in canon because it’s just way too dark, but I don’t think it’d be out of character if he did.
6. Iida
literally tracked down the villain who attacked his brother with the full intent of personally killing said villain once he got his hands on him. true, Shouto and Deku talked him out of it in the end, but still. that was some real motherfucking killing intent. also I will never forget the image of this kid sitting his ass down in middle of the woods and mutilating his own goddamn body without any anesthesia. listen, everyone. just please, for your own safety, do not fuck with Iida.
5. Shouto
and now we reach the top five. listen, feel free to disagree, but I stand firm in my belief that out of all the non-traitor and non-demon-possessed children in class 1-A, Todoroki Shouto is absolutely the most likely to straight up just kill a bitch one day. this boy froze a man from the inside out until a tower of fucking ice was jutting out of his fucking throat, and was all “go ahead and hibernate for a while” like excuse me, THE FUCK. and the thing is, this wasn’t just a one-time occurrence either; he literally pulls this kind of shit ALL THE TIME. froze an entire fucking building with his classmates in it and was all “feel free to bring it on but fighting without the soles of your feet will be painful.” heh. what the fuck. and do you all remember when he fought Sero and was in a bad mood so he iced half the fucking stadium. nearly killed a few people right then and there. “I got carried away.” whaaaaaaat. and I could go on and on; he nearly burned poor Shindou alive, and basically the entirety of chapter 205 could have been submitted as evidence in a court of law had that training battle against Tetsutetsu gone only slightly differently. basically Shouto is an entirely too realistic portrayal of a very sweet but marginally unstable boy with a completely broken power and a shitload of unresolved personal trauma which he is still working through.
4. Honenuki
somehow more murdery than Todoroki “HIBERNATE!!” Shouto. this is entirely because of chapter 205, formerly the most murdery chapter of the entire series, and dethroned only by the recent chapter 266 for obvious reasons. anyway so during the joint training battle, Honenuki bludgeoned Todoroki in the back of the head and would probably have let his unconscious body slump into the softened ground to drown had Iida not saved him. he then proceeded to drop a water tower on top of the both of them. a whole-ass water tower. this was a fucking training exercise. and Honenuki was the only one who kept his calm throughout the entirely of said exercise. and he was praised for his calm murdering skills afterward. because he was fucking awesome tbh. anyway but the point is this is supposed to be a hero school not an assassin school but I’m not really sure anymore you guys.
3. Tokoyami
my man would have straight up killed Moonfish in that forest and sure did try his best. he’s got the same issue as Todoroki in that his quirk is as powerful as it is unstable. and while he himself is not murdery, when Dark Shadow loses control, though… hooooh boy. I was gonna add something about him also interning under Takami “literally stabbed my friend in the neck for the greater good” Keigo, but I think that makes them both come off as more sinister than they actually are. I do think a big part of Tokoyami’s story is him overcoming his inner darkness and wresting control of it and mastering it, so I don’t think it’s very likely that he actually will kill someone in the story. but he’s got a murdery side, no two ways about it.
2. Toadette
straight up filled Tokoyami’s windpipe with mushrooms during a training exercise. he uses that to breathe, fyi. she then offered him a lozenge afterward. do not fuck with Toadette. do not. just don’t.
1. Hagakure
last but not least! Hagakure “hasn’t killed anyone officially but is also definitely the traitor” Tooru! y’all know how it is! I’m committed to this theory! I’d even be willing to put money on a reveal scene where she does just straight up kill someone, and that’s our cliffhanger establishing that the traitor is none other than! and this is coming up sooner than you might think too, guys. Horikoshi brought up the traitor again relatively recently during the Christmas Eve chapter, and that kind of foreshadowing isn’t for nothing. anyways I’m here for it though so bring on that body count you funky little turncoat.
so there you have it. my not-that-definitive definitive ranking of classes 1-A and 1-B by murderous inclination. there’s really not that much rhyme or reason to it tbh but this was fun, thank you anon!
