I personally see Dabi as the worst of the lot but his family will still save him somehow. I find that way more interesting than him having a secret kind side.

I believe he always has had a kind side he doesn’t show out much because he feels there is no point. For me, Touya is a walking example of someone who could have turned out to be much much worse than what he is now. He has been burnt beyond recognition by (and (in)directly because of) his own hero dad yet he believed the society can be changed and rebuilt with the help of real heroes.

See how he encouraged Twice even if he had no reason to do so:

(Not sure if Toga’s kind words were heard by the real Twice, so this scene probably marks the last words of reassurance (that he didn’t do anything wrong) from his friend before he died)

Similarly, although he felt he was no longer needed in his old home, he did go out to play with his siblings as soon as they called him. I don’t know how to put it (and I don’t have many canon examples where he is openly showing his kind side) so yeah, it is more of a ‘read-between-lines’ kind of thing.

I do agree with his family saving him but not with Dabi being the worst of the lot. Touya has been trying his best from the day he learnt to walk got his quirk. In fact, he was only practicing what is expected from every hero aspirant kid—the story’s key motto: Go beyond yourself, right? He trained his quirk till he burnt himself (I can handle little burns) bc he was made to feel that if his quirk isn’t valuable to his dad, then he, as a person, isn’t valuable.

It’s Endeavor’s fault for ignoring his efforts and not doing the bare minimum every child needs from their parents. Touya only sought the least from him (his demands even went from look at me endeavor to a mere I can do as well as him if you give me a chance and his dad couldn’t do even that) the least if the parent(s) decide to bring a child into the world. Kids are not meant to be born for experimentation or for fulfilling some outrageous ambitions the parents couldn’t. Period.

Hawks reaction to Dabi saying his real name though... like he’s been keeping it a secret, like he’s ashamed of his family name, like how fucking ironic it would be if Hawks admired Endeavor all this time because he took down his abusive, shithead dad - the thief called Takami...

How tragic to see these two clash - the son of the villain turned hero, and the son of a hero turned villain - one saved, one destroyed by the same person, both let down by hero society in their own ways, turned into ruthless weapons unable to save the person they both think is worth saving.

The Dabi-reveal is the true slow-burn of BNHA and I think it will be even more complex and tragic than we ever imagined....

Ok so I know with the recent leaks Best Jeanist posibbly being alive is a consivesal thing. Hawks’ character yada yada. But I think that it was a test by Dabi.

I can already hear y’all now “but Blue! That’s obvious!”

It wasn’t a test for Hawks.

It was a test for the commission.

Dabi knew from the beginning that Hawks was a double agent. Or at least Dabi didn’t trust Hawks.

Dabi also knew Hawks’ name. A name that have been under wraps since he was a child. Meaning Dabi at least knows some of Hawks’ past.

Hakws is clearly in shock when he hears Touya Todoroki Dabi’s real name. They most likely knew each other at a young age. At least young enough to know each other’s real name.

Dabi most likely knows Hakws’ is working directly for the commission. Dabi most likely knows Hawks has to tell the HPSC anything he does that’s slightly illegal. So asking Hawks to kill Best Jeaniest was Dabi trying to see how far the commission would go.

So seeing that they did kill someone Dabi knows the commission will kill for their bottom line. He doesn’t even particularly care if it is Best Jeanist. He doesn’t check the body or anything. It’s the fact that the HPSC will kill someone.

So I know some of y’all are angry that Best Jeanist might be alive . You guys say it takes away from Hawks’s character. And I hear y’all. I liked the idea too. But I will argue it isn’t necessary about Hakws killing Best Jeanist. It’s about Dabi testing the HPSC and seeing how far they’ll go.

TLDR: Beast Jeanist (possible) death wasn’t about Hawks. It was about Dabi seeing how far the HPSC.
