One of my favourites is an moderately invasive wildflower, tufted vetch:
It's an attractive little weed of a legume, and other than not being native (and a risk for crowding out native species when disturbed areas are busy reseeding) it's actually a pretty good plant. Since it's a legume it fixes nitrogen in the soil (always a plus). Also bees love it. And it's safe forage for grazing animals (one of its other common names is cow vetch as a result).
As a kid I was delighted by the small round black seeds the seed pods contain later in the year; they reminded me of teeny tiny cannonballs, as a result of which this lived in my head as "cannonball plant" until adult me eventually learned its actual name.
What's everyone's favourite flowers that aren't like. The normal ones. Like everyone's a fan of roses and sunflowers what's a more niche one. One you don't get in gift sets. Mine's sweet peas
#Favourite Less-Common Flowers#Tufted Vetch#Also a fan of the native water lilies and trilliums and pink lady's slipper orchids and the tiny purple-streaked white violets#Like yes please Ontario boreal forest wildflowers for the win

My Garden Flowers Part 9
All photos mine.
In order of appearance:
241. Wild Yam (Dioscorea villosa) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.
242. Nodding Wakerobin (Trillium flexipes) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.
243. Moss campion (Silene acaulis) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.
244. Great White Trillium (Trillium grandiflora) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.
245. Yellow Wood-Sorrel (Oxalis stricta) Small yellow flowers. You often find them growing as weeds, but they're native at least to the northern USA bordering southern Ontario. The leaves, flowers, and fruits are a very lovely snack, with a tart refreshing flavour.
246. Horseweed (Erigeron canadensis) A fairly common garden weed, but native so she can stay where she pops up from time to time. Not pictured as I haven't got pictures.
247. Stiff Goldenrod (Oligoneuron rigida) Not pictured as I haven't got pictures yet.
248. Fourflower Loosestrife (Lysimachia quadriflora) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.
249. Smallflower Forgetmenot (Myosotis laxa) At least I think. Her flowers are certainly much smaller than the European pink and blue species I see around. Not sure what else she'd be.
250. Bearberry (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.
251. Tall Meadow-Rue (Thalictrum pubescens) Yet more lacy white flowers! I imagine if you preferred white you could have a full native garden of such.
252. Northern Bog Violet (Viola nephrophylla) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.
253. Wool Grass (Scirpus cyperinus) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.
254. Prairie Milkweed (Asclepias sullivantii) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.
255. Square-Stemmed Monkeyflower (Mimulus ringens) More leggy than her yellow cousin, but still very attractive flowers that look a lot like snapdragons. She needs things moist.
256. Pawpaw (Asimina triloba) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.
257. Meadow Sundrops (Oenothera pilosella) Not quite as intensely yellow as her cousins, Oenothera biennis and Oenothera fruticosa, but still very bright.
258. Wood Lily (Lilium philadelphicum) We don't have a ton of red or orange flowers native here as compared to yellow, white, or pink/purple flowers, so each one is a treat.
259. Virginia Waterleaf (Hydrophyllum virginianum) Yet more lacy white flowers! Not complaining, though, I think they're lovely in the garden. You find these growing in shaded woods.
260. Woodland Strawberry (Fragaria vesca) Unlike her cousin in the front, this one produces lots of berries...but they're white! That's not usual for the species but not unheard of. It's kind of fun to pick little white strawberries each year from that patch.
261. Pickerelweed (Pontederia cordata) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.
262. Bog Rosemary (Andromeda polifolia) This is a cultivar. I will have the wild type one day.
263. Strict Blue-Eyed Grass (Sisyrinchium montanum) Her cousin in the front prefers things dry, but this one, like many members of her family (irises), prefers things moist. It was actually easier to get her to take than the dry one, though, which I had three failed attempts at before the one I planted last year.
264. Downy Yellow Violet (Viola pubescens) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.
265. Purplestem Angelica (Angelica atropurpurea) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.
266. Wrinkleleaf Goldenrod (Solidago rugosa) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.
267. Purple Giant Hyssop (Agastache scrophulariifolia) Not pictured as I haven't got pictures yet.
268. Buffaloberry (Shepherdia canadensis) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.
269. Silverberry (Elaeagnus commutata) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.
270. White Lettuce (Nabalus albus) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.

Personal omnisexual/-romantic flag redesign.
[ID: Two identically designed rectangular flags of 5 even horizontal stripes, the colors go from top to bottom as teal, light blue, off white, warm lilac, and reddish purple. In the first flag there is a symbol consisting of a moon crescent with three heart-shaped different size leaves overlaid on it (the first leaf is bigger than the two others and conceals the two leaves beneath it almost completely, only leaving the tips to poke out on either side of it.) With a lily flower overlaid on top of the crescent and leaves. It's all in the colors of the flag; dark teal, light blue, off white, warm lilac, and reddish purple. The crescent is a gradient color of dark purple to off white through warm lilac and the second flag is blank./end ID]
So, the colors of the og flag looked good but we're a bit off to me due to how dark they were making the flag look a little eyestrainy if I do say so personally.
Color meaning stayed quite the same; The teals for masculine gender & presentation, off-white for those outside of binaries regarding gender and presentation, and reddish purple & warm violet for feminine gender & presentations. I did realize that I flipped the blues and pinks like much after I made the flag and compared it, but I don't mind that lol. Looks better imo.
[ID: symbol consisting of a moon crescent with three heart-shaped different size leaves overlaid on it (the first leaf is bigger than the two others and conceals the two leaves beneath it almost completely, only leaving the tips to poke out on either side of it.) So heres my flag + the symbol I whipped up for it; it consist of the general crescent that is seen with the mspec mono labels & the bisexual symbols, but it also utilitizes a lily for flower symbolism (as I found out that one of the many symbols of bisexuality was at some point a trillium flower, which belongs in the order of liliales. The flower (trillium) hasn't been further used in other flags or as a symbol for bisexuality save for the Mexican bisexual flag to my knowledge.). No specific lily mentioned for now (if ever). And also leaves that are supposed to be closer to Smilacaceae's leaves (another flowering plant under the order of liliales.), however they did end up on the shorter end. I'm not proposing the symbol for other omnis or folks who use the flag to use as it was originally made for personal usage, however if they want folks and such can use it and if needed I can upload the separated layers for it as well.
The reason this is labeled as both omnisexual and -romantic redesign is because I'm both on some level and I don't care to have different flags for the romantic counterpart personally. Y'all can do whatever y'all want, it's just the Omnirose attraction label redesign lol.
Taglist: @radiomogai @obscurian
Also here's it on the general Omnisexual flag + the symbol on its own.

Native wildflowers collection pt 2
Continued from part 1
Wild white indigo. These grow seed pods and then break off and tumbleweed around to spread their seeds.
Blazing star. There are several species of this and I think this one is prairie blazing star
Culver's root
Daisy fleabane. This was burned and the ashes were used as a flea remedy.
Joe Pye weed
Elderberry. You can chop up the branches of this, put them in the ground, and as long as there's enough water, they will grow into new bushes.
Wild petunia (left), wild geranium (right), and wild hyacinth (bottom). I like them more than the ornamental cultivars
Showy tick trefoil. These seeds are easy to collect. Walk through the prairie for a while and you'll have a few hundred stuck to your clothes.
Tall bellflower
Heal-all
New England aster or aromatic aster. I don't know how to tell them apart. Usually purple, but sometimes you find a bright pink one.
Evening primrose
Wild onion
American bush clover
Rose mallow (left) and halberd-leafed rose mallow (left). The latter gets smaller flowers and different shaped leaves.
Tall boneflower, which is a name I'm totally using for an undead plant in D&D
Great blue lobelia
Smartweed. These are absolutely tiny.
Spring beauty, a cute little spring ephemeral
Bloodroot. These are cool, they have giant rhizomes and bright red sap.
Wild violet. These are usually purple, but sometimes you find a yellow one
Trout lily.
Virginia bluebell
Trillium. You don't get as many of these around here as we'd like because the deer go absolutely wild for them
Woodland phlox
Wild hawthorn

Embrace the Beauty of America: Exploring Regional Wildflowers
🌹🌸💐🌺🌷🌻🥀🌼🪷🪻
It's time to step away from your screens and immerse yourselves in the natural wonders that the United States has to offer. In this blog post, we're taking you on a colorful journey through the regional wildflowers of America. From the East Coast to the West Coast, the United States boasts an incredible diversity of native blooms that are waiting to be discovered. So, grab your hiking boots and a camera because we're about to embark on a floral adventure like no other.
1. Northeastern Treasures:
Our journey begins on the East Coast, where the lush forests and meadows of the Northeastern United States come alive with a stunning array of wildflowers. In the spring, keep an eye out for the delicate Trillium and the vibrant Virginia Bluebell. As summer approaches, the New England Aster and the Wild Columbine paint the landscape with their vivid colors.
2. The Midwest's Floral Symphony:
Moving westward to the heart of America, the Midwest is home to some captivating wildflowers. The iconic Purple Coneflower, also known as Echinacea, is a true symbol of this region. Don't miss the cheerful Black-eyed Susan and the elegant Prairie Smoke as they bloom across the rolling plains.
3. Wildflowers of the Great Plains:
Venturing further west into the Great Plains, you'll be treated to a unique display of wildflowers adapted to this harsh environment. Look for the bright orange Butterfly Weed and the Plains Coreopsis. These hardy blooms thrive in the open spaces of America's heartland.
4. Mountain Majesty:
As we head toward the Rocky Mountains and the Southwest, you'll encounter wildflowers that have adapted to high altitudes and arid conditions. The Rocky Mountain Columbine, with its striking blue and white petals, is a must-see. The Desert Marigold adds a splash of yellow to the arid landscapes of the Southwest.
5. Pacific Coast Paradise:
Finally, our journey concludes on the stunning Pacific Coast. Here, you'll find the iconic California Poppy, which blankets fields with a vibrant orange hue in the spring. Explore the lush meadows of the Pacific Northwest to discover the enchanting Tiger Lily and the Western Trillium.
Whether you're a nature enthusiast or simply looking for a unique adventure, exploring the regional wildflowers of the United States offers a delightful and Instagram-worthy experience. These native blooms not only beautify our landscapes but also provide essential habitat and nourishment for pollinators. So, grab a field guide, hit the trails, and immerse yourself in the botanical wonders that make America's wilderness so special. Don't forget to capture the beauty of these wildflowers, share your experiences, and inspire others to appreciate and protect our natural treasures.
