Shitty photos but I wore my battle vest for the third time ever.
Little bit of backstory but I made this during December last year and never wore it because some of the patches on my jacket were "not appropriate" and my dad was "disappointed" with what I wrote on them, so I got really discouraged from wearing it. I wanted to wear it to my first day of College but he saw it and told me I wasn't allowed to wear it.
But today I said fuck it. It's been several months and I put so much fucking effort into this and I've never even worn it. So I did. And I felt awesome all day
The patches I have on there are
- "Fuck the system"
- "Dead men can't cat call"
- "cowabunga dudes"
- TMNT
- "the earth is our mother"
- "punks not dead"
- "If you aren't angry you aren't paying attention"
- "people before profit"
- "Punks respect pronouns"
- a spiderweb
- "we all bleed the same colour"
(feel free to borrow any of the sayings if you would like)

An ecopunk idea my husband has said and is the most rebellious way to save the environment:
Make sure to carry seeds with you in the spring and just... randomly plant them to help out the environment.
Him: what are they gonna do? Arrest me for helping Mother Nature?

It's punk as hell to defend a community from people making a mocking joke of it, actually.
No, don't fakeclaim people, but speak against harmful concepts and beliefs. If there is a community actively creating stigma around something, actively creating misleading information about something, it's punk as fuck to defend people.

Anti-technology people who insist they're not ableist crack me up. What about people who rely on machines to breathe, eat, keep their heart functioning, or otherwise stay alive? "Well not that technology, obviously!" Ok what about AAC users, people who use hearing aids, or otherwise use technology to interact with the world in ways they otherwise couldn't? "Not that technology, obviously." Okay, my mobile phone is my memory, my sense of time, my sense of direction when I get lost, my ability to contact someone when I need help. It is my personal freedom because without it I would need full time care and supervision. But yes, that technology, right?
I hate how technology is made and utilised under capitalism as much as the next guy, but to pretend that technology doesn't greatly improve the lives of countless people, or even allow them to continue being alive, is to be willfully ignorant to the existence of disabled people. A world without technology is a world where a lot of disabled people don't get to survive. Capitalism is the problem, not the technology. Technology can (and should) exist just fine without capitalism.

Modern au Astrid who is absolutely terrible at sewing so, after many failed attempts, she begrudgingly goes to Hiccup and makes him sew band patches and stuff on her jackets and pants for her

god fucking dam it your magnus chase headcanons permanently altered my brain chemistry. what do you think he'd be like with a gf who died in the 70s who still wears flowy shirts with super deep v-necks and flared jeans and big hair and blue eyeshadow and plays queen and fleetwood mac etc.?
AAAAAAAAAAAH this is so cute. I don't usually do magnus chase asks since I haven't read the whole series but I feel like I can characterise Magnus well enough and this ask is SO cute so yes aboslutely. this is what he sees when he looks at you /hj. just soft big hair covered in flowers always doing shawl twirls covered in enough turqoise to get into stevie nicks's house (no questions asked)

magnus... he can't keep his eyes off you. like actually. you have his attention 24/7, anytime you look at him he's just... admiring you. he's lost on most of your media references and slang, but he's here for it. he dances around with you to fleetwood mack and donna summer. he lets you braid flowers into his hair and watches the way the shimmer in your eyeshadow catches the light. everything about you is so... flowy. you are hands down his comfort person. anytime he's stressed he just listens to one of your records you're always playing and he can feel the edge of all his problems falling away. he loves when you lay in his lap, cozy sunlight making you both glow. you ramble to him about the 70s, what your life was like, about how your parents just didn't understand you and what you believe in. then you tell him your takes that your parents thought were sooooo crazy and wild were "women should have rights, racism is bad, gay people should be allowed to exist in peace" and he realizes how far humanity has come and how far we have to go. more importantly, you're heart skips a beat when he agrees with you wholeheartedly. and like, dying wasn't great. it kind of sucked. but if it means you get to meet magnus and spend eternity together... you wouldn't change a thing. everything he does makes any lingering regrets about your time on earth just... fade away. you like that feeling, and magnus likes how he feels around you just as much.

Calling all fellow Punks
I've been doing some research recently and I've come to the conclusion that the punk opinion on school is. Ditch it. Don't buy into the establishment and don't feed into the government's scheme to keep us working for the rest of our lives.
Which I am all for
But...
Since I was little I had a dream of completing university. Obviously I haven't been punk all my life so I wouldn't have realised any of the corrupt shit that comes with school. But I still really want to complete university regardless. But it makes me feel like a little bit of a traitor. I really need to know if this as bad as I'm making it out to be.

Also shoutout to Daniel Kaluuya to all of his anti-fascist characters. We love a man who consistently represents the struggle against authoritarians.

Sirius being a poser is so real like his fascination with muggle punk subcultures is born from this extremely aesthetic/superficial place in that he wanted to 1. look cool and 2. be contrary to his family. He doesnt know anyyythinnggg about non wizard politics he was raised in an extremely sheltered rich ass fascist wizard family. And two of the most important things about sirius are that he is vain and that he loves antagonizing his parents cmon thats why he does like half the things he does

need more dad arthur au's in this household😭 do you have more? also would love to hear more about how he would balance his life between university and taking care of little Al, and if alfred feels a little insceure since his dad is so young and, as you mentioned; don't have much
Thank you for wanting more so I have an excuse to talk more 🥹🫶
In the way I see it, Arthur would make sure that Alfred would feel comfortable and unresponsible for the situation that Arthur (and by extension, both of them) are in.
And by that I mean, Alfred wouldn't feel insecure (Arthur, however...), he'd feel confident in taking steps to do everything he can do to be 'just as cool as his dad is', because Arthur is quick to assure him that poverty is nobody's fault but the government's and that all there is to do about it, is push for change, work the amount you're able and have fun in ways that isn't by spending money!
Alfred doesn't get to go out to eat often, he doesn't have a game console or games and he doesn't have the newest walkman or computer or anything like that, and while he kind of wishes he did, he has a lot of fun just hanging out with Arthur at home after school.
That's more than his friends can say that they do with their parents.
Arthur's work/Uni-life balance is dependent a lot on Alfred having play dated after school and that his school is so close to home, that Alfred eventually becomes able to carry a key in his bag and can tale himself home on the days that Arthur isn't able to come pick him up!
Alfred is able to walk home on his own and get himself inside when he's around 6 or 7 and while he's super proud of the fact and takes it very seriously to lock the door behind him and put his key in the keybowl, he does have a tendency to drop his stuff at random in his mischivious treasurehunt to look for Arthur's sugar-stash before he gets home.
Arthur on days where he can't pick Alfred up, he obviously feels bad about it, but there really isn't a whole lot he can compromise in order to make it on time. Especially not if he wants to be able to save up for Alfred going to school when he grows up and being able to give him some stable help if he needs it at any point. But he does do his best to prioritise it and he makes an effort to chat with the other parents,
particularly the parents Alfred visits often on playdates. He tries to set himself more favorably with teachers and peers so he doesn't get stamped as the negligent father who makes his kid walk home on his own everyday. And it does not make it better than compared to many of the other parents, he's by far one of the youngest ones.
Homework Arthur does after putting Alfred to bed or he does it at the dinner table together with Alfred, who sits with some drawings or something. It's also usually at that point the classic issue comes up with Alfred mentioning: "We're supposed to ask our parents to [Some time consuming task that would absolutely need more planning and scheduling] for school tomorrow, by the way."
Kicking his feet innocently and he brings that up at like, 8:50 pm on a Sunday evening.
Arthur's creative, so it usually ends up turning out alright, but there are times where Alfred just has to show up with a note from Arthur and usually the teachers are understanding, because the amount of times kids simply tell their parents at the latest possible moment is common.
Alfred also spends a lot of time with Gilbert because Arthur has to earn money somehow and works a job beside studying, but he tries to make his schedule so that he's mostly free during the weekend where Alfred is home so he isn't gone too much.
He doesn't want Alfred to be alone all the time (He knows how much being alone sucks, after all) and by the time Arthur graduates with an engineering degree Alfred is 9 and Arthur is 27, and from that point on things do start looking up more for their financial situation.
Arthur is still punk, even if he does grow out of the look. He sticks to buying second hand or from small businesses, but he does enter into a more ordinary wardrobe as he gets older and by the time Alfred's big enough to fit it, he gives him his old leather jacket which Alfred accepts readily.

If you saw someone stealing, no you didn't, you didn't see shit, it is always morally acceptable to steal, unless it's from a small business, or from a person, then AND ONLY THEN do we have a problem
