We wanted to tackle one of the trickiest parts of Superman mythos; and that's the entangled romance between Clark Kent, Lana Lang, Lois Lane and Superman. Often times these more mundane parts of Superman get pushed to the side, when they can give so much insight into the characters and what they're seeking from each other.

Columbo and the Knight (1984)

put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. I think they deserved it, and I am not just saying that because they're my two favorite Old Shows. @telebeast wrote a little fanfic blurb about it and I HAD to visualize it into a comic (which is also the longest comic I have finished thus far at five pages...), so writing credit goes to them.

The name Mickey Mouse is Public Domain.

Trademark is a separate thing from copyright. Trademark means you can't trick people into thinking your version of Mickey Mouse is sanctioned by Disney.

You do not need to rename Mickey Mouse to use this character.

He's literally named in the title card (along with two alternate outfits for him and Minnie that are also Public Domain, which means, yes! You can give him gloves!).

The only way the name "Mickey Mouse" would still be copyrighted would be if he hadn't been named yet in Steamboat Willie, which very clearly isn't the case, because his name is the largest thing on the title card:

There is also a public domain poster with color, which means this design is also Public Domain. And again, this one also names him Mickey Mouse -- making the name Mickey Mouse Public Domain! And this alone would have made the name Public Domain even if he hadn't been named in Steamboat Willie! And, he again has gloves!

There is also literally nothing stopping anyone from giving any of these characters new color designs with entirely new outfits. That's what the Public Domain is for. Don't think you can only use these characters in black and white, you just can't use versions that Disney still owns the copyright to.

Brazil widens women's safety law to same-sex pairs and trans women

Brazil's Supreme Court unanimously extended the Maria da Penha Law's protection to same-sex couples and trans women.

In a virtual plenary session on Friday (Feb. 21), the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Brazilian Association of HomoTransAffective Families (ABRAFH), which argued that the National Congress has failed to legislate on the matter.

Justice Alexandre de Moraes, the rapporteur, stated that the lack of a rule extending the Maria da Penha Law's protection “could create a gap in safeguarding victims and punishing domestic violence.”

In his vote, Moraes stated that “since the Maria da Penha Law was created to protect women from domestic violence—recognizing their cultural subordination in society—it can also be applied to male same-sex couples when contextual factors place the male victim in a subordinate position within the relationship.”

Justice Moraes stated that "gender identity, though social, is a fundamental aspect of personality, encompassing the right to identity, intimacy, privacy, freedom, and equal treatment, all of which are safeguarded by the overarching principle of human dignity."
