Moderns who wanna be trad, really shouldn't pick the 50s to do it about if they wanna call themselves trad.
There was nothing "trad" about the 50s. First of all, the idea that women don't work and aren't involved in actual *production* let alone household production, was relatively new and... to a large degree, downstream of much of pre-war household production being augmented by technology and mass production.
the idea that a household of five people could be supported on 40 hours a week, without the wife and children also being involved in production, was absolutely downstream of technology. So was a woman running a house without having to have a team of servants.
The "nuclear family" was a stepping stone toward atomization, in an economy that lasted for about... five minutes. It literally was a cultural artifact lasting twenty years only.
And it was futuristic as fuck, and downstream of technological innovation, not a return to the golden days, which most people actually remembered as quite horrible.
If you really wanna live in the spirit of the 50s for any reason but the shittiest and most sexist/racist parts of it, you'd want several Roomba's and a self driving car and would be the world's most annoying space nerd.
And you'd be great with stronger unions and you'd probably be okay with vaccines

"The outer reaches of space remain unexplored by humankind to this day, but its greed is relentless. We grasp and yearn and hunger for knowledge— answers to questions we cry out into the endless void expecting to understand, expecting the stars to respond. The stars will not, but one day something else will— and we will not like what it has to say." — Rome Solomon, Beyond the Exosphere (1965)

Intrusive thought for you: could the limeblood genocide have been Alternia's "Butlerian Jihad", riffing on Dune's anti-computer cults? as a means of explaining the green goo inside Alternian computers and general adherence to biotech/psychics for automation. Equius building robots only to ritually destroy them feels in line with this, in a loose sense
as in, a reimagining of the sopor theory wherein blood of the lime caste didn't just become bed slime, but also the data pus alternian computers run on? i bandied the idea around last time i was thinking about limebloods - somewhat jeeringly, but as far as limeblood conspiracies go it's probably among those i find the most believable. "lord english paints his conquests with his sister's green blood" is pretty solid ground and "there's patriarchal significance to the ooze that fills alternia's machines" is a pet tenet of mine, so there's certainly merit.
to my mind, i guess that would be more of a reverse butlerian jihad? where the mentats are done away with so that they can be replaced with far more ruly machines. the reversal speaks to my assessment that the extermination of the limebloods should be in some way linked to the extinction of humanity on earth, where the condesce consistently had to replace unreliable old biological machines with robotics; and the comparison to dune's jihad seems consistent with an ongoing theme we see on alternia where dramatic political change occurs as a reaction to social upheavel. first war with the signless sets the scene for hivebent's arc, and then the summoner's rebellion turns alternia into the creche planet we're familiar with; it makes sense to presume, as many have in the past, that the limebloods were done away with in response to some uprising of the organics that mirrors the rise of the machines on earth?

If we as a people discovered psychic powers that we could tap into Google would just implement their search engine and then hyper-fixate on getting us super-specific ads and spray it into our brain whenever they want.
Here is an artistic depiction of what this would look like.
By the way in this picture you are Professor X looking at the X-men and you're hungry.

I would love to know why your brain went to Van Gogh? Because the one thought I HAD is not the best
Honestly, whenever the word "ear" comes up my mind tends to stray to Van Gogh. Then, whenever the word "ear" along with anything Doctor Who related comes up, my mind inevitably goes to Van Gogh (because of that one episode).
Also, the Torchwood team is simultaneously cultured and dumb enough to argue about which ear Van Gogh lost and whether it was the whole ear or not (there is still a debate about that fact in the art community). THEN, (I read the rest of your post 😅) Jack would appear and argue about the queerness of earrings out of the blue because he heard the word 'ear' and nothing else of the conversation.

"You know what? Pete is thinking of going to get Mineta since he is getting sick and tired of him running around. Sid is this close in beating him badly." Matt laughs.
"Let me use the bug coffin, Matt..." Pete growled.
"Can we PLEASE sent him off to space now! This little fucker is getting on my nerves!" chuya grumbles pissed off now. Willie sighed but looks to him.
"You know he would be dead before then. I say we just blow him up-"
"WITH WHAT!?" Chuya barked back.
"Will you two calm down...your acting like babies." Ryunosuke said.
"Were not!" they said.
"You are!" he said. "Honestly, Rashomon wants to eat him alive at this point." He said hearing growling from Rashomon indeed making the two quiet. "Though, I don't blame Sid for being angry.." he said.
"I rather skin him alive." Gin hissed gripping her blade.

Catalog 4.1
In preparation for a potential opportunity related to energy work on mechanical items, I’ve been thinking a lot about reiki in relation to technology. A reiki attuned friend has often said that technology gets in the way for her, that phones or other devices can’t be too close to energy work or it will get odd.
I hadn’t experienced this same phenomena (I had actually gone out of my way to test if technology would block me as well and thus far it hadn’t) until one of the last session I did for someone, I felt the need to move the person’s phone from the bed onto the floor. It made me wonder what, if anything, does technology do with reiki or energy in general? How does robotics relate to metaphysics? Why did I feel the need to move the phone?
I have done reiki on cars before and they always exerted a sort of personality and unique quirk. Would this not count as technology? If so, why would the car accept reiki and yet a phone gets in the way? (**Note: I have yet to purposefully try to reiki a phone by itself, it’s possible the phone just interfered with the person’s session itself.
There is much to test here. Not only in terms of different items to reiki, but also to note the differences when it comes to possible human interaction with the items. For example, a stuffed toy beloved by a child will no doubt react differently than a kitchen timer that is hardly ever used. Do humans exert a sort of energy imprint on the items that evolve into “personalities”? Are all technological items capable of “living” if humans put enough of their imprint onto them? Is this not what a tulpa is? Could a mechanical item (or item in general) be a host to a tulpa? So many things to test.

✒ + Volo is the kind of guy who is annoying to play competitive online games against because he brags but really is THAT good
Sort of? I can only really see him bragging if there's something in it for him! Sure, he may be a bit of a sore loser, but that's only for the serious matters- He's proved he's just fine with looking....pretty pathetic or useless outside of his own goals. And, an online game, while fun, is pretty low stakes.
If Volo here is bragging, he's probably trying to intimidate. Whether real anger, or flirting, or something along those lines. He'd brag to someone that harmed a hair on the head of someone he cares about, or, endlessly to his s/o. To get something out of it, or if he's accomplished something Real.

Man, I wish there was a way to directly beam emotions into a comment. I often have such complicated sentiments toward things that I struggle to explain them and end up rambling. I wish I could just, like, write a single summary sentence and then infuse it with the feelings I have so people could click it like a hyperlink and have the entire sentimental understanding of it beamed into their soul. Would make communication so much easier.
