Everything is the same AU except - Tim is a ‘psychic’, but in actuality he’s just been amazing at picking up patterns from a young age, it was a useful tool for the few times his parents brought him to their archeology digs and one of the few things Jack and Janet acknowledged and praised him for. Imagine Tim realizing that Jason isn’t actually dead - how you may ask? He visits his grave just to talk sometimes and notices disturbances in the soil and takes initiative to dig up Jason’s grave - he runs to Bruce who thinks Tim is a little unnerved stalker freak for digging up his sons grave… but, Tim claims to be psychic to get out of seeming like a creep desecrating a dead child’s grave for no reason. And in the midst of Bruce’s grief the man never fact checks Tim on this lie, so everything happens the same as in canon except Tim has to bullshit his way through investigations and major life events.

Psych (2006) au where it has nothing to do with the plot of the show but in college Shawn played in a dnd group and he bought weighted dice and he just lies about it to all of his friends and the players and they believe him because god dammit he’s just so good at lying.
Shawn didn’t even go to college but he snuck into the campus dnd group because Gus was the DM and Gus is the only one who knows that he’s cheating, but his character is really well written and because of his rolls the campaign is really productive so he just lets it happen.
But at the beginning of every session he goes “Shawn you need to stop using weighted die, it’s not ethical dnd playing and you’re going to get caught and everyone’s going to be really mad at you” and Shawn goes “okay but it’s really funny though, isn’t it?” And Gus just sighs and then they make out or something.

I think a MDZS Psych AU would be hilarious. WWX's this super observant genius who remembers everything he sees and can easily guess people's true motives, but it only ever gets him into trouble.
First, YZY hates him for getting better grades than JC, then he's kicked out of LP for calling WC on his lies at a charity gala, effectively blackening the Jiang name. After leaving, he gets caught up in a plot to assassinate him, which leads to him testifying against the Wens in court - which leads to a new, intense interest in seeking justice for those who can't.
...Unfortunately, even this gets him in trouble. WWX's called in one too many tips to the local police station and now he's a suspect! Oh woe! Whatever is he to do?! They're going to lock him up and throw away the key!
LWJ, an up and coming officer with a decade long crush on WWX: Do not worry. I will speak with Uncle to clear your na-
WWX promptly decides to announce that he's psychic.
"Impossible!"
LQR...doesn't believe it. No one really believes it, but LXC takes the opportunity to hire WWX as a consultant for cases...
"...Otherwise not easily solved," he explains delicately, very subtly not winking at his brother who's also very subtly not eavesdropping on their conversation. "You would of course be working with Wangji."
WWX considers it for a moment: a well paying job that interests him, and he gets to bother LWJ all day? How could he possibly say no?
And so he doesn't. In fact, he agrees.
WWX and LWJ become partners. LWJ the dashing young police officer, WWX the spooky, scary crackpot-
"Do not insult yourself, Wei Ying," LWJ chastises.
WWX can't help but swoon. "So protective of my reputation LZ!"
"Mn."
LWJ has good reason to be protective - and of more than just WWX's reputation. Since becoming 'psychic', WWX's attracted a number of very vocal detractors who find his methods disrespectful - along with several enemies in high places who can't afford to have their secrets uncovered.
Thankfully, LZ is always there to keep him safe. And when LZ's busy, WN is willing to step in and help.
(WWX is somehow blind to both LWJ's boundless adoration, and the fact that he's essentially employed WN as a part-time bodyguard behind his back.)
Still, no system is perfect. While investigating the murder of a local debutante, WWX is captured by one of his enemies' lackeys - Jin Zixun.
"...Who?" he asks, drawing a blank.
Jin Zixun pokes his finger in WWX's face. "You-! Don't you remember everything? How can you pretend not to know me?!"
WWX blinks. He's sure he's never seen this person before in his life. But when he says as much, Jin Zixun looks fit to beat him.
Thankfully, before things can get too heated, LZ breaks into the warehouse they're keeping WWX in and rescues him. Is this another swooning moment? Of course! Any moment is a good swooning moment with LZ around.
"Mn," LWJ agrees, picking WWX up in a bridal carry (after arresting the bad guys, of course).
WWX laughs, hiding his cherry-red face in LWJ's neck.
"LZ!" he whines, batting his partner's chest. "Don't just agree with me! Think about my heart."
LWJ tilts WWX's chin back, so he can look him in the eyes as he says, "I think of nothing else."
WWX almost swoons for real. What an unexpected confession! Maybe he isn't as observant as he's given credit for?
"Ridiculous," LWJ denies, "You are very observant. Just not psychic."
WWX laughs so much he almost falls out of LWJ's arms. Thankfully, LWJ is stronger than he looks.
"I am so psychic!" he argues once he's caught his breath. "I'm getting a vision right now!"
"Oh?" LWJ's raised brow shows exactly how little he believes Wei Ying.
"It's true!" WWX says. "I see...! It's us! We're standing side by side and...we're getting married! We're gonna be together forever, er gege."
Heart in his throat, he looks up to find LWJ staring back at him with dark, hungry eyes.
"Mark your words," he says in a growl, and WWX gulps.
That day, LWJ becomes a little less sceptical of his new fiance's preternatural powers, and WWX becomes a firm believer in LWJ's physical prowess. 😉
----
Jin Zixun, some hours later, still handcuffed to a chair in the abandoned warehouse: Hello? I think you forgot me? ...Hello??

Okay hear me out
A Psych Au where the core four swap narrative roles in the story.
Shawn is Gus - After running around the country taking over 30 odd jobs, he comes back to Santa Barbara and ends up getting a cushy job as a pharmaceutical salesman - it pays pretty well, keeps him close to Gus and he's pretty decent at it (it also gives him a company car that he rarely uses because of his motorcycle but don't tell his boss that). Gus ends up accidentally spilling case details to him so he ends up begging Lassie to let him help.
Gus is Jules - He ends up being inspired by Henry and pursues policing (Henry is happy at least somebody took after his example), passing the detective's exam shortly before the show actually starts, getting paired with new transfer Juliet O'Hara. Gus is still a massive nerd but a lot less of a coward than in canon due to the time he's been in the job.
Jules is Lassie - She ended up developing a very rough exterior after working in Miami (considering its crime rate that's fair) and comes off across as rude and unpleasant, that along with her being more deeply affected by 'Frank O'Hara's A+ parenting' causes her to be a lot less pleasant than normal, over time though she mellows out again to being closer to the Jules we know and love.
Lassie is Shawn - He used to be SBPD head detective until some stuff happened and he's no longer on the force as a result. After a little bit though, he can't help sticking his nose in crime scenes - resolving to simply just become a P.I.
I could rant a lot more about this but at the moment I'm just screaming the base idea into the void.

i'm only on season 2 of psych and i know they won't go with it, but i would have LOVED it if shawn's backstory was just that he was a criminal.
his dad busted him as a teen, sure. but he ran away from home after that and all the jobs he claimed to have had were either part of a con he was pulling or invented to cover up the fact that the spent time in jail ("i spent a season with a dance group in buffalo" > "i spent half a year in jail in buffalo but my cellmate was good at doing the moonwalk"). that's the reason his dad doesn't talk to him anymore. he also blames himself for training shawn for being good at running from cops.
we can see all the making in shawn's flashbacks - he could have easily gone down that road! he could have counted cards at poker and pull casino cons or use his perception to run from police and con people into trusting him. not to speak of gus' parents thinking he's a bad influence. he's way too good at blending in at any job spontaneously, almost as if he has experience doing that. also he has no qualms or guilt about it. he walks around breaking into houses and messing with the police because he's not scared of ending up in jail, he's been there a lot, he's very good at getting by and at this point he's simply used to it.
his only downfall was his financial mismanagement and lack of organization. he was good at executing plans and impulsive ideas, but not good at planning or accounting for all the fallout. which means he fell out with partners a lot and had to skip town often when he got into trouble again. (spending all his money, messing with bosses, being disrespectful... basically being shawn)
shawn comes back in town after freshly getting out of jail, done with always being on the run. when the police check his file in the pilot, they realize he's a serial con man with A LONG criminal record, so of course they are suspicious (in this version it was lassiter's partner working the case so that he doesn't immediately know about shawn's past. only the chief does, who keeps shawn's record buried from them so that he keeps working for the police without their suspicions).
shawn realizes he can finally settle down and have a job that still satisfies his need for play and action while helping people and using his skills. his dad needs time to start trusting him again. he's so loose and fearless around cops and breaking their rules because as much as he loves this pi thing, he thinks he's still on buried time before he needs to go on the run again one way or another. so his development is starting actually settle down and let people back into his life. the secret he's hiding is not only that he's not psychic, but more importantly that he's a former criminal. and he knows if o'hara or lassiter knew it, they would never trust him again.

(this may or may not be influenced by the fact that I’ve been binging “Psych” recently)
Top Gun “Psych” AU
Pete Mitchell has always been extremely intuitive, thanks to observational skills his dad helped him hone ever since he was a kid.
…However, being intuitive and intelligent doesn’t always save you when your other biggest personality traits include immaturity and goofiness (aka, an underrated sense of humour, if he does say so himself).
…Which is how Pete gets in trouble with the police one day. All he’d been trying to do was be a Good Samaritan and let them know who committed their latest unsolved robbery - but apparently, his observations were a bit too spot-on to make it seem like he wasn’t involved.
Detective Tom Kazansky (smart and gorgeous) and Detective Ron Kerner (stubborn and grumpy) don’t believe that he’s really just that smart , and neither does the Chief of Police, Mike Metcalfe.
So…Pete decides to have a little fun with it.
…He tells them he’s psychic.
They of course don’t believe that, at first. But Pete can tell just about anything about anybody thanks to his keen observational skills, so pretty soon, he has them, and the rest of the police department, believing it.
…They take him on as a psychic consultant for the police department, which absolutely delights him…especially when he convinces his lifelong best friend Nick “Goose” Bradshaw to partner up with him.
”This is a terrible idea, Pete!”
“Goose, don’t be a gooey chocolate chip cookie…!”
