I don't think y'all realize (or care) how much your definition of feminity/womanhood is rooted in white supremacy and how that negatively impacts BIWOC

I can't help but worry about the future now. This event will do two things for the election. One, it will galvanize Trump supporters and make him more sympathetic to moderates. Two, it will make liberals less likely to vote and moderates harder on liberal candidates.
I hope that we don't see Trump in office again, but I am now afraid in a way I wasn't several hours ago. If Trump gets re-elected the people who will be most hurt are going to be BIPOC, Queer, Immigrant, Religious Minorities, Disabled, and importantly both Ukranians and Palestinians.
If you are part of any of these groups I urge you to find support networks to help you survive, however that might look. If you aren't a US American, please encourage your political bodies to pressure the US government to maintain and improve on human rights and environmental protections, as well as being willing to get targeted groups and people ojt of the US if it becomes necessary.
If you are a US American please vote, and encourage everyone else to vote as well. Push your representatives to become more active in supporting protections for marginalized groups, the environment, and protection for Palestinians and Ukraine.
Importantly, don't lose hope. It is dark, I will not lie or obfuscate on that, but do not let your fear make you inactive. This will be a fight, it will be a fight for years, but it is one we can win and ot is one we must win.

I watched this last night because I noticed Jordan Peele was involved. I was just expecting a fun stop motion animation movie.
I was not expecting:
Racially and ethnically diverse cast ✓
Positive trans portrayal ✓
Anti for-profit prison message ✓
Kick ass afro-punk soundtrack ✓
It makes my heart happy to see so much positive portrayals of diversity set to rock music by BIPOC musicians. 🙂

Blessed be everyone!!
Happy Litha!
And on a full moon!!
Make sure to charge your crystals, drink lots of water, eat yummy food and dance to the songs of the night tonight if you can. Take your meds, do some Divination if that's your thing, do something that makes you happy.
How you celebrate the summer solstice is for you to decide, be you pagan, witch or druid, or even just a chill homie that wants to partake in the height of the summer season.
May today bring you longevity, prosperity, protection, and peace.
While I have your attention, please donate and share as much as you can for Palestine, Congo, Sudan, Armenia, Kurdistan, Uyghuristan, Ukraine, Indigenous Groups such as the Aboriginals and Native Americans (Land Back), and LGBTQIA+ Rights/Protection/Acceptance. Keep protesting, keep Boycotting. Dont buy from things like Starbucks, Apple, Microsoft, or big makeup brands. Dont buy from McDonald's or KFC if you can help it. It's working, even if they try to lie and say it isn't and does nothing. Keep supporting family owned businesses. Keep educating about climate change, injustices and animal rights. Keep fighting back against oppression, intolerance and discrimination. Keep fighting back against police brutality against BIPOC. FREEDOM FOR EVERYONE. Don't let this be just another publicity stunt, don't let this be something you forget after a year or two. Don't let this be or even look performative.
DO WHATEVER YOU CAN.
YOU CAN MAKE THE WORLD BETTER. ITS A LIE THEY TELL WHEN THEY SAY
"YOU CAN'T!"

I started to write this as a reply to @vex-verlain but realized it should be it's own post.
To be clear, this is about @end-otw-racism and why I support this movement (even if I don't agree with all their proposals).
I am profoundly anti-censorship. It has been one of my biggest personal issues my entire adult life. I will absolutely defend the speech rights even of people I think are utterly reprehensible, even the rights of people who want me and my family dead. I think their speech has a right to exist, full stop.
But.
Being anti-censorship in no way means being anti-moderation. I often see people who are pro-ship, anti-anti, or "too old to use a name for telling yall you're clowning" say that AO3 is supposed to be a safe space for WRITERS, not READERS, and that to me is one of the big ways that the current harassment and moderation policies are badly failing writers of color. There's no way to 100% protect all writers, period, on AO3, and to me it seems like a no-brainer that if the goal is "protect all speech, avoid all censorship, minimize harm to real people," the only way to accomplish all those goals it to have a really robust, well-moderated system that prioritizes reducing harassment - ALL harassment - without looking the other way on certain topics just because they're harder and thornier to sort through. A way to section the groups that are oil and water away from each other, through blocking, powerful filters, comment options, etc (some strategies we do have now, btw! They HAVE been adding functionality in this direction, but it's clearly not enough.)
Currently, protecting people who write bigoted shit is causing active harm to fans of color. We see the impacts of this harm constantly; I personally have seen many, many Chinese and Chinese diaspora fans driven out of white danmei fandom circles for all sorts of reasons, and if yall are in fandoms that often have bipoc in them I'm sure you've seen the same (and if you are in a fandom that doesn't have many bipoc it might be wise to take a moment and consider why it doesn't.)
I just really want more people to take a step back and ask themselves why they think an anti-censorship position necessitates an anti-moderation stance, and also why they think being pro-moderation is the same as being pro-censorship.
I defend the rights of bigoted shit to exist.
What I don't defend is the right of the people who create that stuff to weaponize it against vulnerable people.
Regarding AO3, I personally support a solution that involves some way of sectioning off the bigoted shit. I'm not sure exactly how that would work but I think some kind of major archive warning is a solid start. Also maybe a way of flagging authors who are frequent offenders. And to be clear...it's not my job or responsibility to know exactly how to accomplish this. I'm no expert. That's why I'm supporting a movement that explicitly says AO3/OTW SHOULD HIRE AN EXPERT. And I know it would be expensive...and I know many, many of us would donate to a funds drive to raise the money to cover that expense.
I've seen too many friends get profoundly hurt, and I'm so tired of (overwhelmingly white) fandom circles pearl clutching over this not being an issue, that the real problem is that this will lead to censorship of (checks notes) Nazi shit, spitefic, and the other dregs of fanfiction (which, again, has a right to exist! But God why are so many of y'all favoring IT over ALL THE FIC THAT WILL NOW NEVER EXIST BECAUSE BIPOC GET BULLIED OUT OF WRITING IT.)
It's clearly an issue.
And we have to speak up and demand better or it will continue to be an issue.
Please, please listen to the bipoc who've managed to not be driven out of fandom and understand that *things need to change,* which means, for us white folks:
1. A lot of listening to the people who've been harmed
2. Using our voices to amplify theirs
3. Standing up to bigotry we see in our fandom communities
4. Shutting up when they ask us to shut up
5. Checking our own behavior and doing our best not to be part of the problem, and, if and when we go awry, owning it with maturity and apologizing and doing our best to make amends and not repeat our mistakes
...and probably more but those are the first things to come to mind.
Please stop siding with people who've decided they are entitled to spew vile shit, stop prioritizing their writerly protection over the safety of equally valid writers who also deserve protection and are being targeted and hurt. All you do by siding with the assholes is amplify their voices while silencing bipoc and create a space that protects bigots. Is that REALLY the hill you want to fight on?
None of us know it all. We can all learn to do better. I'm personally here to learn, and listen, and improve.
And I'm here to shout from the rooftops that we can be anti-censorship and pro-moderation.
I am, and you should be too.

I just read all your MAWS thoughts/opinions/criticism (all excellent! also your jokes rock), it really opened my eyes to stuff I sorta thought of but never deeply (+stuff I hadn't, as I'm of a different background) and it annoys me me that pretty much nobody else besides yourself(ves) and those interacting with your posts are talking about these aspects. (When I look for MAWS criticism there's either nothing or "grr, woke!!1!", such a contrast to other media I've watch sdhksk)
Oh my, thank you!! It's one thing for people to read my MAWS meta, but to also be complimented on my sense of humor? That's priceless babeyy
Right? It's why I feel the need to talk about it so much, I feel kinda crazy to be the only one discussing these things (it really is just either "the show is good, stop raining on our parade!" or "grr wokeee" or very basic criticism)- and hearing people come to my perspective or even affirm that they felt the same way is so validating.
I've said before that we're in a particularly bad place for media literacy and criticism now that corporations know they can just do the surface level acknowledgement of diversity and be defended by people who have no frame of reference for how it could be better. They'll even say criticizing a show means it's a moral failing on your part ("just admit you hate POC, queer ppl, women!"). MAWS does that to a devious degree, and watching people fall for it is depressing.
My other theory for why there's so little constructive MAWS criticism is that most of the smarter viewers left after clocking the show's trite writing, lol.

If anyone’s seeing this, first of all I hope you are safe or as safe as is possible, and my heart goes out to everyone feeling despair right now. I can’t say I’m surprised by the renewed hell we’re going to be living in the next 4 or more years (fool me once, shame on you etc.), but it’s hard not to feel profound disappointment and horror at the situation we’re in. Personally, I’m a big ol’ socialist and wasn’t really looking forward to a Harris administration, but Trump and the white supremacist movement that’s puppeteering his decrepit corpse are going to be disastrously worse. So many people and communities are going to be brutalized by this, and it’s pretty fucking demoralizing to know that you live in a country that is completely ignorant of that fact or just fucking fine with it. It is fascism through and through.
But I hope that with time, you’ll be able to get through the despair and be angry. You do not deserve what is happening in this country - none of us do, not even most of the ignorant assholes who voted him in (though seriously fuck them). This will ultimately hurt everyone who isn’t using Trump to line their pockets with blood money, but it’s going to disproportionately hit LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, disabled, and other vulnerable folks first, and it’ll hit us hard. We need to organize, and we need to resist, and we need to get fucking pissed and let that energy carry us through. There’s going to be a lot of work to do, for us and for the countries the US colonial machine is going to continue fucking over.
I am so goddamn angry I could puke blood, and I hope I can share some of that energy around. This election cycle was a fucking mess, and we deserve fucking better than this circus.
Take care of yourself and your loved ones, and don’t give in to despair. That is what the fascists and corporate fuckheads in the rightwing want - it is their strategy for success. Get angry, and don’t let them get away with this without a fight.

I love trans people. I love fat trans people. I love ugly trans people. I love trans people that don't pass. I love feminine trans mascs and masculine trans femmes. I love trans people who haven't medically transitioned. I love those that have. I love nonbinary people that don't like the label trans. I love people with obscure genders. I love trans people who've had affirming surgery. I love trans people who haven't. I love people who've known they were trans forever. I love people who just now connected the dots. I love the black and brown trans people that go through so much shit in the world. I love autistic trans people. I love trans people that are mentally ill. I love neopronouns. I love going by "incongruent" pronouns to your presentation. I love neopronouns. I love going by all pronouns. I love she/they's and he/they's and she/he's.
Trans is beautiful. I want every trans person to feel safe and seen. And I will fight someone if they try to take that away from them.

So sending your Black children to predominantly white schools is a throwback act of white supremacy and exposing your children's developing brains to racism and it's a reflection of your own desire for white adjacency. There, I finally said it!!!!

Just finished watching Wakanda Forever.
This beautiful story is filled with so much hurt and pain. A perfect encapsulation of the hurt and pain that the natives as felt, hispanic and latin people. Of the hurt and pain the Black people have felt, African Americans and those of mixed Afro ethnicity. Of the hurt and pain that Asian people have felt, Asian Americans and the natives of the Hawaiian islands. The hurt and pain that Jewish people have felt. The hurt and pain that we continue to feel today... In the "land of the free"
And in our pain we have clawed our way out. We have fought kicking and screaming to have our basic human rights. Rights that still to this day are ignored in favor of the system of white supremacy.
And in our pain, in our fight we have kicked down others who are equally oppressed. Allowing the colonizer to pit us against each other. When we should be our strongest allies.
And today, while there is still a struggle, we move more and more towards a future where we 100% have each-others backs. We share each other's stories, sign each others petitions, walk together in protest.
But that doesn't mean that with every step of the way the system won't fight back. Abortion rights, the pipe lines and oil drills. Schools banning books on the Lgbtqia+ community, Black and native history. Police brutality. Anti-Semitism. Hate crimes against APPI. Police raiding peaceful protests and arresting water protestors, POC, trans individuals. All for using their human right to speak their voice against destruction of their land, against violence and abuse again their communities.
We have a long way to go but its not FUCKING OVER!!
