the thing about having long hair especially if you are a girl/perceived as one is people act like they will be personally offended if you cut it. INCLUDING! hair stylists who you are paying to cut it. double it if you have blonde/red/ginger/curly/etc hair. like the lack of autonomy ive been allowed to feel about my hair, even when its subtle still has me afraid to go to the stylist and ask for the haircut im paying to get.

#real #it took years upon years to get it as short as i wanted #had the same hairstylist since i was in middle/high school right then #and she like. refused to cut it short short #finally got an ugly ass undercut to make me realize im not fond of my hair short #but i never wouldve known if i didnt get to cut it so short #😭🙏

you can start anytime.

you can brush your teeth in the middle of the day. you can wash the dishes at 2am. you can do things outside the normal times assigned by society.

#i always forget this #i have the kind of depression that makes me rot away and fail personal hygeine every day #i fell out of my routine and its embarrassing to see how bad its gotten #but this is right! its never too late to do it #if you have the energy #get up and do something small #wash your face or brush your teeth :)#a shower might be a lot of energy but anything helps
