You should be furious that people trying to escape genocide in Gaza, Sudan, Congo all need raise an absurd amount of money just to survive
You should be furious at how these people went through atrocity after atrocity and still need raise tens of thousands of dollars to get away
You should be furious at this insidious thing that completely encapsulates how capitalism feeds off of blood

About 48% of the world's cobalt reserves are in Congo, but 70% of the world's mined cobalt comes from there.
Cobalt is toxic to touch and breathe - and there are hundreds of thousands of poor Congolese people touching and breathing it day in and day out.

The people of DR Congo are now facing winter which means heavy rains along with the silent genocide. 7 million people have been displaced aka become refugees all because of big techs greed. Boycott new technology this Christmas/holiday season, please just keep using your old tech until you literally cant people’s lives are at stake.

Learn about Congo 🇨🇩 We cannot , after finding out so shamefully late about the genocide, continue as per. We have to change our choices and make the effort to be as ethical as we can and talk about this!

(this article was published on Nov. 3, 2023. I highly recommend reading the whole thing to get a good overview of conflict in the DRC as of that date.)
Almost seven million people have been internally displaced in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) — the highest number on record— amid an escalation of fighting in a war that has been ongoing for two decades.  The country’s eastern provinces have been the worst-affected following a resurgence of attacks by the M23 rebel militia, internationally acknowledged to be a proxy force backed by neighboring Rwanda, in 2021. The DRC currently also has over 100 armed groups operating within its territory.
In Masisi for instance, there has been a “worrying increase” in the cases of severe acute malnutrition, according to Doctors Without Borders (MSF). Reduced trade amid the ongoing conflict has also led to a major increase in food prices, with the cost of cassava flour rising by four times.  The ongoing fighting has also had a severe impact on the health and disease response, with the DRC reporting the highest number of suspected cholera cases and deaths in West and Central Africa region. The country alone accounts for almost 80% of disease transmissions and approximately 60% of all deaths, as per a report released by UNICEF last month. The provinces of North and South Kivu alone accounted for 80% of all cases in the country and 33% of all deaths.
The current mandate of the EACRF is set to expire on December 8. Meanwhile, the DRC has also called for a removal of the UN peacekeeping force, MONUSCO, whose current mandate will expire on December 20, around the same time as the country is set to hold its elections.  The Congolese government has indicated that it wants the EACRF to withdraw from the country after its current mandate expires. On November 1, government spokesperson Patrick Muyaya said, “some Congolese are now questioning why we even asked to join the EAC […] When we joined the EAC, it was to connect our country with the region. The regional bloc was committed to peacebuilding but unfortunately, we have little progress.”

it’s so strange, why is it that whenever i post about spreading awareness while speaking up against violence, that’s the time where i lose interactions?
especially on twitter. it’s disappointing! no matter how much i convince people to spread the word and speak up, they just turn completely blind.
i’ve lost hope. i know this is controversial but the fandom which i’m disappointed most at is kpop. while i’ve met some kpop fans who’re vocal, majority of the fans i’ve interacted with have become distant eversince i’ve been speaking up alot about palestine, congo, sudan, bangladesh, and the philippines. it makes me sad because kpop has helped me in my worst times, and seeing that the people in it won’t even lend a hand to those BEGGING for help, it’s been urging me to force myself to detach myself from it’s fandom.
i feel so bad for the people who are asking for help. all my prayers will go to you. please remember you are not alone. i stand here by your side.
i don’t care if i lose followers for what i am speaking up for. if losing followers means saving people from violence, then so it be!

People are waiting for things to be history while it’s happening so they can say “oh why couldn’t we do anything to stop it?”
You can do something to stop it.
Murder is happening right now. People are being killed right now. Starved out. Infected with disease from manufactured conditions. Their homes and community being torn apart because of sickening and disgusting wishes from the people in power above us assuring it happens.
Stand up. Do something.
Don’t wait and say we should’ve done something to help when we could’ve. You’re complacent if you aren’t helping now.

Something i keep thinking about is after palestine is freed there needs to be justice up to an including removal from office for everyone in a publicly held office position across the globe that supported this genocide.
If we leave the system in place that allowed, sponsored, and benefited from this genocide, then we have not achieved freedom at all. Only a temporary peace until the next time these governments decide to outright eradicate an entire group of people for whatever reaason.
