so much rage that i will fucking shatter every goddamn bone in my body, but atleast then when im dust that would satisfy the the outrage so it isn't actively burning up every part of my body

Indefinite Article
Indefinite Article (one) I am Here. In this moment. A singular entity. Simply a part of something so much bigger than myself. One body of work in the knowledge of creation. Indefinite Article (two) I am An unknown poem in a universe of unknown poetry. To be learned word for word or not at all, ever changing all the while. Indefinite Article (three) I am Beyond definitive…

Defining Whiteness
@karilouge said, "Whiteness isn’t the color of skin at birth; / whiteness is our system assigning uneven worth / based on the color you’re / racialized from birth. "
Whiteness isn’t the color of skin at birth; whiteness is our system assigning uneven worth based on the color you’re racialized from birth. Whiteness is when nonwhite faces are taken from birthplaces to be sent across oceans and assigned a race; when tribes are sent to forts and jails, marched down trails— displaced, erased, until white faces were commonplace, signing declarations…

Meet This Author: Heather Gooden
Q: When did you first start writing poetry? I first started writing poetry when I was maybe 6 or 7? It started as a way to write mother’s day and father’s day cards I thought was fun and special. As I got older that of course changed somewhat, and I would say I’ve been writing poetry consistently since my youngest child was born in 2015. Q: Why write poetry? Multiple reasons. Poetry is a…

[Backlit by the glitter-chopped horizon] Killarney Clary
Backlit by the glitter-chopped horizon, each of these 17 Marbled Godwits poking at the tideline must have a heartbeat; every living, perfect Whimbrel, its eyes. The surf is stacked, tilted, as if it were higher than the beach. There is an urgency to turn home, get this assignment of pleasure done, strike it off the list where vanish will be the last task, and then there is the thought of those 17…

Whispers of Celestial Winds
Whispers of Celestial Winds In the embrace of twilight’s tender kiss, The stars align, unveiling their celestial dance, Their shimmering beauty, a tapestry of hope and chance, Entwined with dreams of love and endless bliss. Gentle zephyrs whisper secrets through the trees, Bearing tales of distant realms and ancient lore, Where spirits soar, and hearts explore, The boundless depths of life’s…

Fate, Evermore
Cunning and quiet, the thief makes a play Dagger raised he leaps into the fray Consumed by dragon fire, thief is no more Warrior strong, bold heads into battle too Axe ready and sure, steady, resolved anew Dragon breath makes him ash at the door Wizard makes magic, wise and fierce Casting ice at the dragon's flesh to pierce Dragon leaves charred bones on the floor

I think I’m never going to become really good at stylized art in the same way that I’m never going to get the hang of poetry. Going for realism in art is a lot like writing prose: you’re trying to put what you see or imagine on the page, which involves following sets of rules. For prose, it’s using the right words and arranging them into sentence structure that makes sense, conveys what you want it to, and sounds good. With drawing, it’s about anatomy, color theory, the play of light and shadow. You can deliberately ignore some of the rules to amp up the drama of the piece, but as a whole, you want to follow the rules.
Poetry and stylized art understand the basics of those lessons, and choose to throw them out the window. You can make a square apple or a person with hot pink skin. You can make a poem that rhymes even with seven, or has no capitalization or punctuation. From a structural or realism standpoint, these choices are wrong. But artistically they can find beauty and meaning outside the bounds of what’s considered “correct.” And that’s something that I can appreciate in the works of others, but will struggle to replicate myself.

sometimes happiness is being surrounded by friends
sometimes happiness can be in a form of a box of chocolates and diamonds
sometimes happiness is finally crossing off that one thing in your bucket list
sometimes happiness is just as simple as taking a day off
i can go on on different forms of happiness.
i wish you could find yours, because i found mine. You.
