I'm gonna be salty here for a second but hhhhrgh I hate that make-up brands are going the "fast fashion" route by constantly releasing new products that last two-three weeks and then moving onto the next thing. they often release products that work so well, but then they disappear forever. why not put out a couple of new products, see what people like and stick with it???
essence had this really fucking good foundation that was perfect for my mixed-oily skin and you can't get it anymore, I have to find a new foundation that works for me and it's a staple product, not just a trend edition
#t#I love essence and catrice due to the low price + good quality#but ohhhh I fucking hate that they pump out products every two or three weeks#the worst thing is when they make something GOOD that is liked by everyone and then they just discontinue it#can we slow down can we let the products simmer for a while#stop marketing yourself as 'eco friendly' when this shit produces so much waste

NEW POST! 21 Ideas for Sustainable Swaps That Aren’t Shitty, Expensive, Greenwashed Garbage
I’m always looking for great sustainable swaps, because I love finding ways to reduce my footprint. (In an ecological sense only—been holding steady at size 7.5 for years.) I try to recycle, compost, buy less, shop local, and choose more sustainable options. But I’m just one woman! I can’t test out everything. So I asked our endlessly wise Patreon community. And boy did Bitch Nation deliver!
My only caveat was that these sustainable swaps can’t suck.
Paper straws that disintegrate into wet clumps in your mouth? Absolutely not!
Coffee pods sold to us as green because you’ll “waste less water”? Lies and pictures of also-lies!
Cloth napkins that cost—I’m sorry—$92 for a set of four?! WHAT! I’m not linking to the site because they claim to be handmade by artisans, and I’m sure those artisans are very nice people.BUT STILL!
Out of this list, ye devils! These sustainable swaps need to be as good—or gooder!—than the products they’re designed to replace. Nothing prohibitively expensive or complicated.
And definitely not shitty.

Amid the mounting waste crisis, startup Mycocycle has pioneered a patent-pending process that unlocks the incredible metabolic potential of fungi to recycle industrial byproducts into low-carbon raw materials. By cultivating specialized strains of mushroom mycelium, the startup’s system can efficiently metabolize construction and demolition debris into a variety of eco-friendly building components.
Joanne Rodriguez, founder and CEO of Mycocycle, was featured in Forbes’ Next 1000 (2021), a list of up-and-coming ambitious entrepreneurs “redefining the American dream.” The startup is based in Illinois and has recently raised $2.2M in Seed Funding, bringing the total amount of funds raised thus far to $3.7M.

Rethinking Our Disposable Culture: How to Spend Wisely and Sustainably in the 21st Century 🌍💚
As we delve deeper into the 21st century, our society stands at a crossroads. The path we've been on—characterized by a growing throwaway culture fueled by increased disposable income—is unsustainable. It's time to consider how we might turn the tide.
The Economics of Disposability
Disposable income has undoubtedly improved living standards for many. Yet, this financial flexibility has also led to an increase in disposable products, fast fashion, and rapidly obsolete technologies. This trend is economically beneficial in the short term but environmentally and socially detrimental in the long run. 📉🌎
Rethinking Consumption
To mitigate the impact of throwaway culture, a shift in consumer mentality is essential:
Value-Based Spending: Align your spending with your values. If sustainability matters to you, support brands that prioritize eco-friendly practices.
Invest in Repairability: Choose products designed for longevity and that can be easily repaired, reducing the need to buy new.
Community Engagement: Get involved in or start local initiatives that promote sustainable living, from community gardens to tool-sharing libraries.
Policy and Change
Policy change can also drive significant shifts. Advocating for regulations that require producers to be responsible for the lifecycle of their products can decrease the volume of waste generated.
By adjusting how we view and utilize our disposable income, we can combat the rise of throwaway culture. It's about creating a future where we value what we own, understand the true cost of disposability, and choose a sustainable path forward. 🌍💚
Each of these posts could be adapted for platforms like WordPress, Medium, and Tumblr, considering the audience's preferences and engagement styles on each. For WordPress and Medium, a more formal and informative tone can be used, while Tumblr allows for a more casual and direct conversation style, incorporating relevant images, gifs, and interactive elements to engage the readers effectively.

it has occurred to me that a lot of my skin problems come from the fact my mother refuses to purchase anything isn't "eco-friendly" thus leading her to purchase shitty skincare products that clog my pores and make the oily parts of my skin worse
like I had to explain to my mother earlier that yes, this cleanser made from almost entirely plant oils is, in fact, making my skin oil problem worse and clogging my pores
#she used to buy me like. normal dermatologist recommended stuff#but then one day a few years ago she discovered this eco friendly skincare brand (which im 99% sure is just a marketing tactic)#and my skin has been horrible ever since#like. the products work for her BECAUSE HER SKIN WAS FINE TO BEGIN WITH

girlies if youre looking for safe pads to use, i recommend Viv for your V
currently trying them during my monthly subscription, and theyre better than any pad ive used
theyre made of bamboo and corn starch based pla, and theyre extremely absorbent. i have a relatively heavy flow and without a tampon, the pad wasnt wet and uncomfortable for very long. the blood seeped into the material pretty quick. the pads are also VERY thin!! they feel so soft, smell faintly like plants, and are very comfortable--i forgot i was wearing it for a while
i did end up using a tampon for most the day however--so i'll let you girlies know with an update on how it is most the day without a tampon.
but yeah these pads dont contain any of the toxic chemicals (lead, arsenic, bleach) that Always and Poise and Tampax etc carry.
the "plastic" the pads are wrapped in are also biodegradeable and made of corn starch based pla
the pack i bought online was $8 for a 12 pack, and i think it's worth the money. Viv also sells tampons, cups, and underwear--havent tried any of those products yet
5 stars would recommend

Bamboo vs. Plastic: Why Bamboo is the Superior Eco-Friendly Choice
Choosing Better for a Greener Tomorrow
In today's world, the impact of our daily choices on the environment is really important. One simple way to help is by choosing the right products. Bamboo items are becoming popular because they're better for the environment than plastic.
Let's explore the reasons why bamboo products are better choice for the environment -
1. Eco-Friendly Production:
Bamboo is a plant that grows super fast. It can grow up to three feet in just one day! This makes bamboo a renewable resource. On the other hand, plastic is made from things like oil, which will eventually run out. By using bamboo, we can reduce how much we depend on these limited resources.
2. Biodegradable and Compostable:
Plastic takes hundreds of years to break down. This leads to pollution in our oceans and landfills. But bamboo is different. When you throw away bamboo products, they break down naturally over time. This means less waste and less harm to the environment.
3. Reduced Carbon Footprint:
Bamboo forests are great at absorbing carbon dioxide, which is a gas that contributes to climate change. They also release more oxygen than regular trees. This helps to make our air cleaner and healthier. Plus, making bamboo products uses less energy compared to making plastic items, which helps reduce pollution.
4. Versatility and Durability:
Bamboo is a versatile material that can be used to make a wide range of products, from utensils to furniture. It's also strong and durable, making it a long-lasting choice compared to single-use plastic items.

5. Chemical-Free and Safe:
Bamboo products are often chemical-free and safe for use, making them a healthier option for you and the environment. Plastic, on the other hand, can leach harmful chemicals into food and the environment.
6. Support for Sustainable Practices:
By choosing bamboo products, you're supporting sustainable practices and industries that prioritize the health of the planet. This can help drive positive change towards a more sustainable future.
