thinking about dungeon meshi (as you do) and something that has been increasingly bothering me is how many people call Laios 'stupid' or similar. Often even as they are trying to pitch the manga to people.
And it's been bugging me because it's just. Absolutely not true? Laios is socially inept to a fault, that's like half the driving reason for the plot. But beside the obvious 'he knows a shit-ton about monsters and this is very helpful to their dungeon adventuring', he's also shown to be a good strategist, and pretty decent at magic once he actually puts his mind to it. He's a competent team leader who knows his teams strengths and weaknesses well despite being fairly bad at people. He can be silly, but to be fair so can most of his team. And he does make poor/stupid decisions (like eating raw parasite) mainly because of his hyperfixation sometimes. But he's far from stupid.
Idk man I am obviously annoyed because I think calling the heavily autistic coded guy 'stupid' is a bad look, but it annoys me doubly because the story makes it pretty obvious that he is not. That's a pretty essential part of the story actually!

also like i partially found out i might be intersex because i was looking at trans stuff and there was like "(however many) months on t and finally seeing some bottom growth" and like pictures of t-dicks and i was like.... um.... that's kind of just what my clit looks like anyways. so i was like "hey google give me a quick rundown on this" and learned what clitoromegaly was and then i was like. hm. intersex resources. and it's like a sign? symptom? side-effect? of certain intersex conditions
#i mean like pcos runs in the mums side of my family but i dont have all the symptoms of that#i do also have like. more hair?? than the average afab person#like dark hair on my stomach and chest and back#and my face. whats disappointing about the face hair is that it isnt enough to be able to grow a beard#so i cant even fuck with gender that way#tagging as nsft just because of like genital mention#genital mention#nsft#shoutout to transmascs on t who show their t-dicks on the internet it was really helpful#also i dont know how to describe it but like. my natural face shape is kind of masculine??#like it would be plausible for a cis amab perisex man to have my face without looking feminine#if you get what im saying??#if it sounds like im reinforcing sex or gender essentialism please say i am struggling to find words#unshoutout to the boys in primary school who made fun of me for having hair under my arms and starting a whole decade of insecurity-#-about having hair on my body lmao#for the record i dont think certain face shapes are indicative of gender and all im just going by like. patterns?? in afab vs. amab faces#also not that i think afab vs. amab is the entire categorisation of human sex characteristics but um. working with what vocab i have here#i think what also really kicked it off. was relating to a fair few experiences intersex people have socially#particularly intersex ppl who were afab and faced a lot of pressure to make their bodies conform to feminine beauty standards#and it was like.... oh lol.... my mum did that to me!!#it comes from her own internalised shit bc she has pcos (idk if she identifies as intersex even tho she could if she wanted) but still.#dont project that onto a 10 yr old lmao. she keeps buying me hair removal products#ALSO floored by an experience i have. in which apparently half my friends dont feel pressure to shave their legs#because the hair on their legs is like. light and thin and barely visible and i was like?? huh??#what do you MEAN your legs don't look like your brothers/fathers if you dont shave??#im starting to think they dont shave their arms. their arms might just naturally not have a load of hair#i dont shave my arms though. cannot be bothered with that and also like. why would i do that#also you know that like. happy trail i think its called?? on “men's” stomachs??#yeah i have that naturally yeah thats right im naturally sexy#if you cant tell i am putting “girls” “mens” “boys” “womens” etc. in quotes to indicate that is just the normal society way of saying it

best part of kiwami 2 was majima saga honestly
i really love his moveset
but damn the blood lineage stuff in kiwami 2 was just weird, might be the japanese having a racist moment or not but it's just not a story element i vibe with , especially considering that kiryu's saga has him being an orphan as a major part of his character and him having found family is a major thematic point with his arc. but the blood ties stuff really clashes with all of that in a way that undermined it
honestly the weakness of the stories in kiwami and kiwami 2 should be attributed to the fact that they're remakes of the first two games and i had a feeling that rgg studios were still working out the characters at the time
also you can tell that the stories and tone are pretty dated to the 2000s
and i actually really like ryuji. his reaction to finding out he has a sister probably is the saving grace of that whole last bit. i don't know why they made him die, it just feels so unnecessary

I'm starting to rate the Cyrano de Bergerac versions based on whether or not they make me desire him carnally by the end of the play
#Cyrano#Cyrano de Bergerac#I talk too much#I should probably delete this later#'desire carnally' in a broad sense#Like‚ conceptually. The vibes of 'desire carnally'#But yes#I'm joking of course but also I'm dead serious. By the end of the play ideally I have to understand why so many characters#would choose to live‚ die and be haunted for life for the main three. I have to see the charm in the three of them#Their wit‚ their sweetness‚ their passion‚ cleverness‚ cunning and kindness#The flaws that make them who they are and also what makes them loveable and unforgettable precisely for who they are#By the end of a production I want to see Christian not for the pretty face the marquises‚ Roxane‚ de Guiche or Cyrano see at first#but the man Cyrano still mourns by the end. I want to see not only the beauty of Roxane that makes everyone love her at first sight#but also her wit‚ cunning‚ cleverness and poetic mastery‚ her fiery and valiant personality‚the charm that makes the love for her constant‚#grow deeper and more intense no matter the years#By the end of a production I want to almost forget about Cyrano's nose. I want his voice and his demeanour to be what is most memorable#I want to know him and see him clearly for who he is and thus love him for his faults despite his faults#I want to be as baffled and frustrated as Le Bret‚ Christian and Roxane are by the fact that he is blind to his charm and charisma‚#and how attractive that makes him. And for bonus points I want to see clearly that the three of them are very much like each other#and value and love in each other many of the characteristics they themselves possess‚ even if they are blind to their own

The Supernatural as Cancerous Beings
In biology, we learned a lot of cool stuff about cancer, and I think supernatural beings (vampires and shapeshifters) are easily reconstituted to represent walking tumours.
Vampires - easy, immortal unageing cell lines that require blood consumption to access nutrients, can survive anything except silver and wood (to be fair, you could technically kill cancers with these, some anticancer drugs are made of silver and compounds from trees). Cancers also quite literally parasitically steal nutrients, and can fool the immune system with their own version of a glamour.
Shapeshifters - cancers can reprogram their own genes, change conformation (tumours), expand, and proliferate rapidly, ergo, a shapeshifter explodes into a clump of cancer cells, that reprogram themselves into the new forms they desire.
I think cancers can very easily recapture elements of supernatural beings, and some of the traits of cancer fit in nicely with traits of supernatural creatures.

in a sense i can tell emet & i have like very similar standards when it comes to quality. by that i mean i am very picky with art styles especially when it comes to how people draw my favourite guys & i KNOW in a fucked up really weird world where hes real & im the character (well ok due to introject stuff its not that far fetched but bear with me) he would hold fanart of me to the same standards i hold his. does that make sense.
#i am very pretentious with art i just never say it. i do apply it to my own art too tho that is why im extremely harsh on my own art#i want a level of skill i simply am not at yet & it ruins my life. but that aside#i am VERY particular about how well people manage to draw emets features. due to him having such a unique face in xiv#characteristic eyebrows. a nose thats actually too big for most face wear that covers the nose. his shallow cheeks. the glare. the lips#miss any of these (if you have a very detailed style) & its not him anymore. dont bishiefy him.#as much i love the evilness of the magic art ('art' looking at mtgs ai practices...) the nose stood out to me as too small.#maybe its the angle but it does not look as big as it should imo.#& i could never ever imagine myself being fully satisfied. with any less than his actual features.#to me it does really speak of a skill issue + less than ideal view of 'unconventionally attractive' or whatever features#when an artist cannot keep to that kind of feature or even attempt to#break out of the 2010s generic anime art style pretty please. im like begging on my knees.#if youre gonna be drawing my guy you cannot just make him random anime boy number fifty four he does not look like that.#but. yeah. see what i mean. im pretentious. honestly probably why i keep to sketches most of the time#i do not have the patience to add as much detail as id like to finished products#& it drives me fucking insaneeee <333#the diff btwn emet & i is that hed probably have the skill to not hate whatever he creates#emey selchie tag

after I've been listening to 21st-century music for half an hour or so, my ears are starting to ring from the exhausting brainbeating airless compressed quality of the production, and then I put on a song from the mid-sixties, and the production is so open and light and airy and has so much SPACE in it... it's like I can suddenly breathe again...
thank you for existing, mid-20th-century music production techniques. I love you and I miss you so much.

Autism gifts for teens are thoughtfully chosen items designed to support and engage adolescents on the autism spectrum. These gifts often cater to sensory needs, special interests, and skills development. Popular options include noise-cancelling headphones for auditory sensitivity, weighted blankets for comfort, and fidget toys for stress relief. Tech-savvy teens might appreciate tablets or smartwatches with organizational apps. Special interest-related gifts, such as books, collectibles, or hobby kits, can be particularly meaningful. Social skills games or interactive video games can promote social engagement. Sensory-friendly clothing or accessories may provide comfort. Educational tools that align with their interests can be both fun and beneficial. Characteristics of transparent raw materials commonly used in plastics and injection molding process
Because plastic is light in weight, has good toughness and is easy to form. Due to its advantages such as low cost, plastic is increasingly used instead of glass in modern industries and daily products. It is especially used in optical instruments and packaging industries, is developing particularly rapidly. However, due to requirement of good transparency, high wear-resistant parts, and good…
