I cant believe I gotta say but relating to my fat characters post I was mostly talking about people coming onto my artwork of canonically fat/or at the very least chubby characters and pointing out that I drew them fat/chubby and making weird comments about it when I see so much art of fat characters being turned bone thin and it aggravates me Like, I know people can draw however they please and I'm not gonna get on someones dick about like only drawing horses and nothing else or something, but that's why I specified that if people refuse to even try to draw fat, non white, disabled, old, non conventionally attractive, whatever why even do the character with the traits the disservice of removing those characteristics in your art? Again it just makes you look like an asshole I don't understand what people are getting so uptight about el oh el If someone is gonna have that give up attitude towards art where they don't even try to draw diverse groups of people, even if I really want them to try and learn, I just don't get whats the point of drawing character fanart and going "well I don't draw x so I just made them something else" just draw another guy

My bone to pick with shitty hetalia "Siberia" OCs
Spoiler alert, they're all terrible!
Many people who make Siberia ocs often refer to Siberia as a nation. Siberia is not a nation, it is a large geographical area which is the home to many different ethnic groups.
This excuse is often made for singular "native American" ocs too; Using the excuse that because of the Russian conquest of Siberia which resulted in the massacre and displacement of the different peoples of Siberia, this is a justification to put all of these different groups into one, singular, Siberia OC, as apparently, there's no point in doing actual research into the different ethnic groups who are native to Siberia!
This I find to be blatantly disrespectful, conflating such diverse groups into one (often whitewashed as I'll get onto later) singular OC and flippantly saying "oh well a lot of them are dead now so..." is again, disrespectful and insensitive. A Tuvan is not an Evenk is not a Yakut is not a Buryat is not a Chukchi is not a Koryak.
That list I just gave you is just a small example of the sheer diversity of the ethnic groups who are native to Siberia.
It leaves a very bad taste in my mouth when people use the Russian conquest of Siberia - an already sensitive topic because of the displacements and killings of the native people of Siberia which in turn, resulted in an ethnic cleansing, as a vehicle to then create (as I said before, often whitewashed) OCs which dismiss the unique cultures and histories of these different groups. Do people...Not see the irony in this?
Honestly, just 5 minutes of research into the native groups of Siberia would show you that trying to conflate all of these different cultures into one just does not make sense regardless. Though these cultures share similarities because of course they are North East Asian - this is not a justification to waive off the diversity of these ethnic groups!
Let's take Buryats and Yakuts for example, two ethnic groups who live in Siberia and who are considered to be Siberians. Buryats are a Mongolic people, their culture is quite similar to that of Khalkha Mongols, the majority ethnic group in Mongolia. Yakuts on the other hand, are not a Mongolic group.
The Buryats live primarily in the Republic of Buryatia, located in southern Siberia, Russia, while the Yakuts, also known as the Sakha, inhabit the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) in the Russian Far East. Both groups have historically practised nomadic herding, but the Buryats traditionally focused on cattle herding and moved with their herds across the vast steppe, while the Yakuts were known for their reindeer herding and horse breeding in the Arctic and subarctic regions. The Buryats' culture has been heavily influenced by Tibetan Buddhism due to historical connections with Tibet, and shamanism also plays a significant role in their spiritual practices. The Yakuts' culture, in contrast, reflects influences from both Turkic and Siberian indigenous elements, with some Russian cultural assimilation over time.
Geographically speaking, they also differ. Buryatia is characterised by diverse landscapes, including mountains and lakes, while Yakutia is known for its extreme cold temperatures and vast tundra. Despite their differences, both groups have rich cultural heritages and face challenges in preserving their traditions and languages amidst Russian colonisation.
Just between Buryats and Yakuts, you can already see how they differ culturally and linguistically. Of course there will be some similarities as they are both Northern Asian cultures, but we don't give Spain and Portugal a singular personification because of similar characteristics/cultures now, do we?
Another issue I have with Siberia OCs is when, not only (by default) is a Siberia OC blatantly dismissive of the diversity of the ethnic groups who are native to Siberia, but when they make their already insensitive OC... White Russian, or half Russian? Do I even need to explain why this is offensive?
Yes, a majority of people who live in Siberia now are ethnic Russias. Do you ever... wonder why that is though?
What's worse is when people know, but then use the displacement of the people of Siberia as a justification to make their Siberia OC half Russian or white. This is blatant white washing, and though many groups are Russified, this does not mean that they've completely let go of their native culture and or are extinct, nor is it an excuse to ignore their native cultures to make an insensitive oc.
There is a difference in recognising that yes, some of these groups have gone through a process of Russification/have adopted many aspects Russian culture (to varying degrees depending on the group) , and straight up white washing their cultures by making a half white-Russian or a white Siberia OC - as if each of their unique identities do not deserve the agency to be represented by an equally unique and accurate personification.
Groups in Siberia never had strong relations with ethnic Russians until the Russian conquest of Siberia. It's okay to have an oc of a Siberian ethnic group which reflects the degree of Russification that that group underwent because (unfortunately) it's true for many of them - Kazakhstan for example is a central Asian country that underwent a process of Russification and it's accurate to reflect the degree to which Kazakhstan was Russified and how this affected him in his personification. Despite it being an unfortunate fact, you can't escape it, and I am not against reflecting this.
But it's a whole different ball game when you take already marginalised groups of people, squeeze their diverse cultures into a clusterfuck of an oc, which is already bad in and of itself… but then WHITEWASH THIS OC. EVEN WORSE WHEN THEIR CULTURES WERE ACTIVELY PERSECUTED BY THE RUSSIAN STATE, AND ARE STILL BEING PERSECUTED.
Further, the idea of making the Siberia OC "young" (even an oc of a singular Siberian ethnic group) as in, born during the Russian conquest era… and make Russia some sort of father to Siberia… This just absolutely reeks of paternalistic colonialist propaganda; the idea that these groups had no culture, no right to govern themselves or the idea that they didn't have the ability to govern themselves before the Russians came and subsequently "gave them culture" and "enlightened them" in their ways.
What other actual justification is there to do something like this? Seriously? When these cultures are actually quite old and predate the Russian conquest?
As a Filipino who has to deal with this sort of trash from Spaniards, it is not appreciated.
Further, if it wouldn't make sense to make a native American group OC half white because of white settlers in America, and if it wouldn't make sense to make the Philippines half Spanish because of our colonisation under the Spanish, why then is it ok to do it to the native people of Siberia?
This is the WORST part about Siberia ocs. But people who make their Siberia ocs the representation of 2p (or BOO! EVIL!) Russia.
This is so egregiously racist and I don't even know how people can headcanon this without even batting an eye.
First of all, making Siberia the "evil Asian" side of Russia… okay I've bloody banged on about this before but I really don't care at this point. This is stepping into peddling eugenicist racial science about Russian.
The rhetoric that Russians (but this also applies to other eastern Europeans, however I'm specifically talking about Russia here seeing as it's about Siberia ocs) are not "true Europeans" because of Asiatic influence, both from the past (Mongol invasions) and present (Russian Asians who are the result of the Russian conquest of Siberia and central Asia). And because of this, this means that Russians are also a load of evil, Eastern Hordes too because of their so called "Asiatic" heritage.
There's a saying in some Eastern European countries about Russians. It goes something along the lines of "Scratch a Russian, you'll find a Tatar." This is used in an offensive manner to basically call Russians subhuman or evil because of their so-called "tatar" (Asian) heritage.
Keeping this in mind… Making Siberia… the "evil Asian side" of Russia… yeah I'm not beating around the bush with this one. You're a filthy racist if you do this.
It's even more egregious when you're using Siberians as a justification to make your cheap 2p Russia OC evil, as if SIBERIANS are the aggressors towards Russians. WHEN THEY WERE THE ONES WHO ARE COLONISED BY RUSSIA AND TO THIS DAY FACE MARGINALISATION UNDER THE RUSSIAN STATE. BUT NO. THEY'RE THE BIG EVIL AGGRESSORS TOWARDS YOUR INNOCENT WHITE BLORBO, RIGHT?
tl;dr If you have a singular "Siberia" oc it's trash no matter what, hope this helps 👍

Oh this is something I'm awfully excited to ask you but I keep on forgetting!! But anyway, if you'll create an alien race based on bugs in dragon ball how would you go about it? Like what would be the most important detail do you think they should have? (I want to ask you about specifics of that race too but I don't want to pressure you on answering since I'm sure that would be long. Just an idea of what an alien bug race can be would be awesome!)
THIS IS SUCH A GREAT QUESTION..... because it makes me think so hard i can't think of anything conclusively :') first up is- would this insect race be one species? one family? one order? or just a mix of all different kinds? there's literally around a million insect species and almost 30 orders that are INCREDIBLY diverse in form. i don't want to paste every single example here but here's just the silhouettes to give you an idea!!
(deep longing sigh, a graphic from one of my favorite papers by misof et al. 2014)
but also i could just. make up a new bug entirely?? 😳 like just smash together my favorite characteristics from across the insect world... what sounds good to me atm is cool wings (i like plain membranous more than the scaly wings of butterflies/moths, you can get cool patterns with them too), the general horse shape of a mantis/snakefly and sound producing organs (insects make noises in different ways! crickets stridulate by rubbing their wings together, cicadas expand/contract their tymbals, hissing roaches compress air through their spiracles). i like the idea of insects singing to communicate, it's pretty much only to attract mates or scare predators but i think it's a generally romantic idea :'3 i also think it's cool to consider aspects of physiology, like insects have an open circulatory system (their organs are bathed in hemolymph instead of supplied by vessels), they have a more decentralized nervous system (can still get around despite lots of their body missing), they can overwinter, among other things. oh i think i'd also like them to be holometabolous (larva>pupa>adult rather than a nymph that gradually sheds into its adult form) because i want to see proud parents holding their cute little worm babies :3c
in terms of dragon ball i can say what i won't do- toriyama i'm making a callout post on tumblr dot com- there are insects other than cicadas (although i LOVE cicadas) but i am tired of these things
it is a real structure found among the true bugs (order hemiptera, includes aphids, leafhoppers, cicadas, etc.) called a cibarium which basically houses the big muscles the herbivorous members use to suck up plant juices. SUCK, you say?? yeah these things don't have chewing mouthparts so shut your weird beak mouth, cell. you're supposed to be sucking up people with that instead. their mouths have been modified into straw things called a rostrum which you can barely see under the cibarium of that cicada. if i had to make an alien race based off these kinds of bugs, their mouths would remain rostra and i'd definitely have them communicate through sound production only. that would be hella cool.
(also while we're on the cell callout train, cell's wings are based off the shell of a beetle which are technically called elytra but THERE'S ALSO SUPPOSED TO BE MEMBRANOUS NORMAL WINGS UNDERNEATH! insects typically have two pairs of wings and the shell of a beetle is just the hardened first pair.)
hehe sorry that went on for a bit. take some bonus doodles that this inspired although i wouldn't consider these examples of a sentient alien race. i really like snakeflies and think they're adorable OTL

Would the result of a human-gallifreyan pregnancy be human, gallifreyan, or a sort of hybrid (like the offspring of a horse and donkey being a mule)?
What would a Human/Gallifreyan child be like?
🧬 The Triple Helix DNA
The crucial thing about the viability of human-Gallifreyan offspring is the inheritance of Gallifreyan triple helix DNA. This genetic architecture is essential for passing on distinct Gallifreyan traits. Without a properly functioning/integrated triple helix, the hybrid might encounter a range of health complications, from sterility to diminished or completely absent Gallifreyan abilities.
🚼 Developmental Expectations
Biological Classification: Should the hybrid successfully inherit the Gallifreyan triple helix DNA, it might possess Gallifreyan traits such as increased longevity and regeneration. However, these characteristics would depend on the level of success in integration with human DNA.
Phenotypic Expression: Visually, the hybrid is likely to blend human features with Gallifreyan physiological markers—potentially resulting in a human-like appearance enhanced by Gallifreyan sensory capabilities or temporal awareness.
Functional Viability: Like mules, which are generally sterile, the human-Gallifreyan offspring may encounter reproductive challenges. On the other hand, hybrid vigour/heterosis could play a blinder, potentially resulting in a robust constitution and enhanced adaptive traits.
Cognitive and Psychic Abilities: The offspring may also have elevated cognitive functions and a rudimentary capacity for telepathic communication, influenced by the Gallifreyan genetic traits, but possibly less potent than pure Gallifreyans.
🤰 Gestational Dynamics
The gestation of a human-Gallifreyan hybrid involves unique dynamics depending on the carrying parent.
Human-Carrying Parent: A pregnancy overseen by a human may largely mimic human gestational periods but could include extraordinary symptoms due to the integration of alien DNA.
Gallifreyan-Carrying Parent: On the other hand, a Gallifreyan bearer might experience an extended gestation period compared to human norms, potentially up to a year. The presence of human DNA might introduce specific challenges, including atypical fluctuations in the carrier's ability to regulate physiological processes traditionally stable in Gallifreyans.
🏫 So ...
The baby resulting from a union between a human and a Gallifreyan would indeed be a hybrid, merging the diverse genetic backgrounds of both species. As such, they would not only embody a blend of physical and cognitive traits but also stand as a bridge between human and Gallifreyan cultures.

8. (Make-up day) Morsel
Sooo. Inspiration has been thin on the ground. Then i got an idea so I reread Himeko's sparce wiki entry to get a better grasp on her timeline and bro. As is appropiate for a character in these kind of games, Himeko was a teenage genius that got into Uni at 15, finished her phD at 18, suffered greatly from a tragedy that drove her into giving up her dreams and signing up to the shady secret force fighting the deadly secret alien plague. Then she, a woman with no honkai compatibility, did all the training required and joined her squad at 19. Dear god fam.
And if you're into HSR, then it suddenly makes a lot more sense that her counterpart repaired the Mystery Space Train created by an Aeon (god) all by herself and probably with only her guts and a scredriver. I love this woman.
*.*.*
Himeko’s second week in this new world brought about as many surprises as the first one, if not more. Maybe she should stop thinking in terms of surprises when literally every single thing was a surprise in one way or another. At least her first days here had been spent aboard an isolated merchant ship and her only contact with the wider world had been with the crew.
Now, however, they had docked in a small town named Aleport which, by its nature as a port town, saw a lot of traffic from merchants and travelers of all kinds. Here, Himeko finally got the chance to experience how… colorful and diverse the people of this world were. The crew had been a mix of what she learned were hyur, miqo’te and roegadyn, plus whatever race she was.
(There had been no mirrors on the ship, but Himeko had seen her reflection in a bassinet full of water, morbidly curious about her own appearance. Seeing a reflection of herself, but with leonine characteristics, had been a shock. In a way, she suspected it’d have been less strange if her body had been drastically changed; instead, she looked almost identical while not looking like herself at all. It was eerie).
Aleport, on the other hand, welcomed even more races, from the pint sized hobbit-like people, to literal elves; from rabbit people, to tall men and petite women that had scales, horns and tails. She had even seen a male of her own species (she assumed) pass by while she stood in the plaza with the floating crystal, gawking like a bumbling tourist who had never set foot into a city before.
She was trying to not think about the floating crystal.
Or the magic.
She was failing on all accounts, but it was the thought that counted, right?
Himeko had so many questions. All the questions. And no way to ask them without coming off as a crazy hermit that had lived under a rock her whole life at best, or the worst infiltrator to ever exist. When she took into consideration that these people seemed to be in conflict with some “beast tribe” and “those fucking garleans” (epithet courtesy of her erstwhile crewmembers), and that being seen as a spy may wind up with her taking a long walk off a plank, then it became obvious that discretion was the way to go.
Unfortunately, being discrete wasn’t exactly compatible with being expedient, and, for someone who had wrapped up her phD at 18 years old, the forced ignorance grated like nails on a chalkboard.
Integration would be a lot easier if Himeko could read the local language. Because oh yeah, that was also a thing. Despite having no trouble verbally communicating with everyone she met, Himeko could not, for the life of her, read the local script that had, as far as she could guess, some passing similarity to a few of the romance languages she studied, but only in appearance. Even then, the similarities were few.
Truth be told, Himeko had no idea why she could understand everyone and be understood in turn, but she wasn’t fool enough to look a gifted horse in the mouth. She just hoped this wouldn’t end up being a monkey’s paw situation. That would suck even more than trying to pick up morsels of valuable information from conversations she just happened to overhear.
Himeko sighed as she watched the sun finally rise over the horizon, painting the sky a fiery orange. She climbed to her feet and stretched in order to work out the kinks in her back, then holstered the old but serviceable ax that Swift River had gifted her as thank you for saving his life.
Yesterday, Himeko had spent the day familiarizing herself with the town and the people that lived in it. She observed their routines and exchanged words with bored dock workers and idling guards, as well as haughty scholars and enthusiastic children.
All information was valuable information at this point in time, but one of the most valuable things she learned during her little information gathering the day before was about the existence of adventurers: people that traveled around and did odd jobs in exchange for money. The best thing? Anyone could be an adventurer, even dimensional travelers with no papers.
Sure, apparently there was an Adventurer’s Guild, but while signing up was recommended, according to those yellowjacket guys, it wasn’t mandatory. That was good news, since the Guild was in the capital and currently Himeko was a penniless, nameless nobody as far as this world was concerned.
Well, hopefully her experience swinging around a greatsword would translate to swinging around a war ax. She could use the exercise. And the stress relief.

This is love, boy
It was another evening of their hike to God knows where, when Tavel sat down next to Shaodan with a sly face.
- Well, boy, you got caught, right?
The fiery Karlach joined their company today and the half-elf could not help but notice the looks the sorcerer was giving her. To be honest, he was impressed himself, but the horned one was clearly smitten.
- What are you talking about? - The tiefling answered with a sincerely uncomprehending face, twitching the tip of his tail.
- Come on, you still look at how she dances, moving around the camp, - Tavel smiled.
He spoke almost in a whisper so that his friend’s interest would not overhear their conversation. And the rest shouldn’t even eavesdrop by accident.
- No, have you seen her? - Shao hissed, leaning a little closer to the elf. - Not a woman - FIRE!
- And literally,- the dark one laughed, - but I understand you. Just when we go to the paladins, be careful, otherwise you want to impress, prove yourself, and you’ll end up in the front row.
- Well, I want to protect her, and not die at her feet, so... I’ll try, - Shaodan glanced at the girl briefly and made a movement with his tail again. - I didn’t think I’d ever react to someone... like that. I don’t know her at all, she’s a warrior from the underworld, and I... For some reason I believe her. It’s not just “we need allies, and then we’ll look after each other so that there are no betrayals.” I... believe her.
- Me too, - said Tavel thoughtfully, - it seems that this is the case when someone really has an open soul, and does not intentionally create such an image for themselves. Moreover, you saw her memories and emotions, and I have no doubt in your retelling.
- What I saw and felt... I want to wrap her in a blanket and give her a cup of hot tea, assuring her that everything will be fine, - the tiefling smiled, scratching his wrist (and how is he not afraid of scratching with such claws?). - But she obviously doesn’t need it. Maybe. At least we still don’t have a fire-resistant blanket to test.
- The only option left is tea, - nodded halfelf, - and although you know, we have so much wine accumulated in our supplies, you can easily throw some spices in there, and she will already make herself some mulled wine, it’s in some ways even cozier than tea.
The ranger laughed, however, this little joke was not evil. Their company was so diverse that it was simply impossible not to play up the characteristics of each.
- I’m not sure if she can drink alcohol, - Shao secretly looked at Karlach again, and didn’t notice how he smiled. - Although people like her are usually very supportive of it. You know, I love the way she laughs. Enjoys every minute of freedom. She knows that this freedom is still fragile, that she can still be returned to the front line, forced to kill against her will. But she's not worried... She tries to seize every moment without control, to feel everything she has time for.
Tavel sighed. It seems that they should all take an example from Karlach, because who knows when tentacles will start sprouting from their faces. What kind of freedom is there then...
- So go and ask if she can have some wine, why are you seated, - he pushed the tiefling, - maybe she knows. Brighten up the lady's evening!
- I... I don’t know, - the guy frowned. - I'm afraid to drive the horses” too quickly and ruin everything.
- As you yourself said, she enjoys every minute of her precarious freedom, - the elf shook his head, - and would rather enjoy normal communication and a tasty drink. Just don't act like a pushy idiot, that's all, although you won't be anyway.
- Not sure. I look at her and... I want to do stupid things! Like a boy, by God, i’m funny myself, - the tiefling scratched his wrist again, shaking his head.
- Shall I go with you? - The ranger squinted cheerfully. - Then it wouldn’t even be so suspicious if you came yourself!
- Yes, lets do it! - Sheo looked at the dark one with gratitude. - You’ll be stepping on my tail if the smile disappears from her face because of my stupidity.
- Go ahead, - Tavel clapped him on the shoulder, rising to his feet.

OM!Characters and their Patronuses
Prompt:
Pairing: NA
Genre: NA
TW: NA
Lucifer
Hippogriff - The hippogriff is a proud and dangerous creature. They are half eagle, half horse, the offspring of a horse and griffin. If your Patronus is a hippogriff, you likely have a demeanor that commands respect or else. You’ve been known to fiercely defend those you’re loyal to and lash out at those who don’t earn your respect. At the same time, you are capable of growing to love former enemies - after a bloody battle.
Mammon
Crow - The crow is a very well-known bird that some believe is an omen of dark magic. But if this is your Patronus, don’t fret! The crow is very resourceful, ambitious, and cunning. Once they set a goal, they always seem to get what they’re after. Crows are also fearless. Regardless of what sort of creature they find in the way of their goal, they will do anything they can to overpower it. They are also very smart and have been observed using tools to achieve their means. This is a Patronus anyone should be proud of having!
Leviathan
Black Mamba - Widely considered to be the world’s deadliest and most feared snake, the black mamba has an impressive reputation. As the world’s fastest land snake, it can outrun most people. However, its incredible speed is not attributed to hunting but rather escaping threats. Surprisingly, the black mamba shies away from confrontation due to its nervous nature; however, when threatened, it becomes the ultimate force to be reckoned with.
Satan
Heron - The heron is known for its outstanding determination and intelligence. Herons live in three elements: water, earth, and air, revealing that the animal appreciates diversity. You have a mind like no other and work on whatever you’re working on until you’ve finished it.
Asmodeus
Swallow - The swallow is associated with love, happiness, protection, and curiously enough, with summer. Regardless of its small size, this Patronus is extremely powerful and will conquer a full battalion of Dementors.
Beelzebub
Mastiff Dog - English Mastiffs are regarded as one of the most gentle dog breeds, despite their large statures. Mastiffs are a combination of confidence, loyalty, and intelligence and are considered good family dogs. In fact, Hagrid’s dog is played by Neapolitan Mastiffs.
Belphegor
Black Bear - The formidable form of the black bear is often enough to scare away even the bravest of explorers, not to mention Dementors! Often mistaken as a deadly predator, the black bear mostly feasts on berries, grasses, and roots complemented with fish and carrion. This is often how people see you - a fierce opponent who will protect yourself and those close to you but who has a softer side hidden away from the world.
Diavolo
Stag - The stag is a symbol of strength. A person with this Patronus is characterized for their inclination to heroism and nobility. Usually, people who produce this Patronus are confident in their capabilities and hold pride in their actions and beliefs. The stag’s antlers can grow back once they fall off. Because of this characteristic, this animal has been revered in many traditions as a symbol of life regeneration.
Barbatos
Snowy Owl - The snowy owl is traditionally thought to possess strong magic and have insight into the future. Snowy owls, like other varieties of owls, represent wisdom, but the white bird also means a transition may be coming. Perhaps that transition is from sadness to happiness when the Patronus is cast?
Simeon
Doe - As the Patronus of Severus Snape and Lily Potter, the doe is fiercely protective of its loved ones, as displayed through its caring and nurturing nature. The doe is also representative of gentleness yet strong determination, and with its high level of intuition and sensitivity, it battles life’s challenges with the utmost grace and vigilance.
Luke
Sparrow - The sparrow may be small, but it’s an incredibly powerful Patronus. Sparrows are stronger in numbers, so the witch or wizard with a sparrow Patronus gets the benefit of multiple magical protectors. Visualize Hermione’s canary attack on Ron as a swarm of swirling sparrows, pecking Dementors to their doom. Solomon
Salamander - It is a type of amphibian, typically characterized by a lizard-like appearance. Unique among vertebrates, they are capable of regenerating lost limbs as well as other damaged parts of their bodies. The skin of some species contains the powerful poison tetrodotoxin, and these salamanders tend to be slow-moving and have bright warning coloration to advertise their toxicity. This Patronus represents a person who is capable of adapting to any environment and is open to change. Also, it describes a person who is capable of overcoming big losses and challenges but could be very dangerous if bothered.

Choosing the Right Fertilizer for Your Garden: A Comprehensive Guide
When it comes to nurturing your garden or small yard, choosing the right fertilizer is essential for promoting healthy plant growth and maximizing yields. However, with so many options available, it can be challenging to determine which fertilizer is best suited to your specific needs. Factors such as soil type, plant requirements, and personal preferences all play a role in selecting the ideal fertilizer. In this guide, we'll explore common types of fertilizers and their characteristics to help you make an informed decision.
Compost: Compost is a natural fertilizer made from organic matter such as kitchen scraps, yard waste, and manure. It's prized for its ability to improve soil structure, enrich the soil with essential nutrients, and foster beneficial microbial activity. Compost is an excellent choice for organic gardening enthusiasts as it provides slow-release nutrients over time, promoting long-term soil health.
Manure: Manure, sourced from animals like cows, horses, or chickens, is another natural fertilizer rich in nutrients. However, it's crucial to compost manure before applying it to the garden to reduce the risk of pathogens and weed seeds. Fresh manure can be too potent and may burn plants, so it's best applied well in advance of planting.
Organic Fertilizers: Derived from plant or animal sources, organic fertilizers such as blood meal, bone meal, fish emulsion, and kelp meal offer a slow release of nutrients and improve soil fertility. Organic fertilizers are flavored by many gardeners for their ability to promote soil health while minimizing environmental impact.
Synthetic Fertilizers: Manufactured to provide specific concentrations of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K), synthetic fertilizers deliver quick results but may pose risks if overused. They can leach into groundwater and harm beneficial soil organisms. Careful adherence to application instructions is essential when using synthetic fertilizers.
Liquid Fertilizers: Liquid fertilizers, like liquid seaweed extract and fish emulsion, are dissolved in water and quickly absorbed by plants, providing a fast nutrient boost. They're suitable for both soil application and foliar spraying, offering versatility in feeding plants.
Granular Fertilizers: Granular fertilizers, available in pellet or powder form, release nutrients slowly as they break down, providing long-term feeding for plants. Balanced formulations are suitable for general use, while specialized formulations cater to specific plant needs.
Before selecting a fertilizer, consider conducting a soil test to assess its nutrient content and pH level. This information will help you choose the right fertilizer and application rate to meet your plants' needs effectively. Remember to follow recommended application rates and schedules to prevent over-fertilizing, which can have adverse effects on plants and the environment.
If you're interested in adding exotic fruit plants to your garden, consider reaching out to Veliyath Gardens. Discovering Wildlife through Paint by Numbers
Animals have long been a subject of fascination, embodying the wonders of the natural world. The art form of animal paint by numbers provides a unique opportunity to bring these magnificent creatures to life on canvas. It offers a bridge between art and nature, allowing artists to forge a deeper connection with the animal kingdom. By carefully selecting and applying colors to the numbered sections, artists can recreate the fur, feathers, scales, or features that define various animals. This process not only allows for an accurate portrayal but also provides an opportunity to observe and appreciate the intricate details and unique characteristics of different species.
Engaging in horse paint by numbers can provide a calming and therapeutic experience. The focused attention required to fill in each numbered section with the corresponding color promotes mindfulness and relaxation. This activity allows individuals to momentarily escape from the pressures of everyday life, helping to reduce stress and promote a sense of inner peace. It develops a deeper appreciation for these magnificent creatures. By meticulously recreating the details of a horse’s anatomy, such as the flowing mane, muscular body, and expressive eyes, artists gain a greater understanding and admiration for the beauty and grace of horses. This newfound appreciation can extend beyond the art form and foster a genuine interest in horses and their significance in various cultures.
Dogs have been cherished companions for a very long time because of their steadfast love, playful nature, and loyalty. A fun way to depict these cherished canine companions on canvas is with paint-by-number kits that include canines. Paint by Numbers dog Art allows artists to pay homage to the unique qualities and personalities of dogs. By meticulously recreating their fur, eyes, and features, artists can capture the individuality and spirit of different dog breeds. Whether it’s the regal poise of a German Shepherd, the playful eyes of a Labrador Retriever, or the gentle elegance of a Spaniel, each painting becomes a testament to the beauty and diversity of dogs.
In summary, paint by numbers includes accessibility, skill development, stress reduction, creativity, a sense of success, community, and an appreciation for art. Paint by numbers is a fun and rewarding artistic activity, whether it’s for leisure, stress reduction, or skill development.

SAKA warriors (Scythians from Central Asia and southern Siberia), 4th century BC. The world of the early steppe nomads is a very obscure one, and the names by which we know them make it even more confusing. I’ll try to make it as understandable as I can. First, let me explain the difference between historical names (known from ancient sources) and archaeological names (used by modern archaeologists based on common material culture).
In ancient sources, the words “Saka” and “Scythian” refer to the same peoples: the Iranic-speaking nomads that roamed the steppes between southern Ukraine and the Pamir mountains of Tajikistan. The only difference between these names is that “Scythian” is how the Greeks called these nomads, and “Saka” is how the Persians called them. Although nowadays we tend to use “Scythian” for the nomads of eastern Europe and “Saka” for the Siberian and Central Asian ones, historically, the Persians would call the European Scythians “Saka beyond the (Black) Sea” and when Alexander the Great fought the Saka in Central Asia, to the Greeks these nomads were Scythians as well.
Despite the Greek and Persian names being applied to both eastern and western Iranic nomads, the material cultures of the European Scythians and the Central Asian Saka had differences. In the field of archaeology, the Scythians and Saka mentioned in Greek and Persian historical sources are considered part of the “Scythian horizon”, which is an umbrella term for all the material cultures of the steppes that have some specific common characteristics (like the same types of weapons, a common “animal style” art, similar horse gear, similar clothing…).
The “Scythian horizon” extends from eastern Europe (including parts of Thrace in the Balkans) to the Ordos desert in the Chinese region of Inner Mongolia, and from the forest-steppe of Siberia to, at some point in history, north-west India. In such a vast territory one could expect to find quite a lot of ethno-linguistic diversity, with not only Iranic speakers but also Finnic, Ugrian, Turkic, Mongolic and Yeniseian peoples, to name a few. The problem is that none of these Scythian-like peoples left any written sources.

Whoa there hold on. Capitalism and America's relationship with art and profit does not come down to Economists only. Our role in why profit maxxing (what this post is talking about, aka beating that dead horse until it stops spitting out money) became default/obsession is *not* small but we aren't the source from the top of these existing and dominating companies. Private sector economists typically get hired to do the dirty work; when they tell us to find the profit maximizing strategy, we do the analysis and interpret the conclusion in a meaningful way, and provide reasonable next-steps. Many also study poverty, international trade, why some countries are poorer than others, welfare participation rates and how to *increase participation* for those that qualify and don't take it, labor and wage stagnation, education (my specialty), crime, insurance, exchange rates, etc.... We *know* how to profit maximize with spread sheets sure, but we are a quantitative social science. We study human behavior through the lens of data and mathematics, but it must toe the line between numbers and human behavior. This is our role in the humanities.
There are different schools of thought and essentially political alignments within our field as well, such as the famous Keynes vs Hayek debate (post WW2) on degrees of government intervention in times of economic crises, and we even have slang for these debates that have existed for a while (google Fresh water vs Salt water economics; these are nicknames based on locations of universities). Notably, many economists are trying to increase the diversity and perspectives that exist in the field right now.
If you want to look at CEO education, here's source:
https://www.study.eu/article/the-academic-backgrounds-of-the-worlds-most-powerful-ceos
https://www.forbes.com/sites/kimberlywhitler/2019/10/05/new-ceo-study-the-undergraduate-degrees-and-majors-of-fortune-100-ceos/
I commonly see economists being confused as the only ones driving where the economic culture goes, but there is a reason Finance, Business, and Accounting majors are different degrees than Economics: we all actually do very different things. We simply frequent similar topics and areas of expertise. Note that in the source above, those with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) are the majority (54%) in North American CEOs. Believe me, there are plenty of economists that notice and don't like the way things are going, and yes, even in the arts. My undergrad was in music before I pivoted to Econ for my masters; at the very least, I notice.
The common joke within the field is we get hired and then ignored. I've heard multiple stories from my professors being hired to analyze a situation, finding a way that maximizes everyone's welfare, presenting it, and they say "Wow thanks! Here's your payment, we won't be doing that. :)"
Note though that artists *do need money*. At some point you need income to cover your costs and to be fairly reimbursed for your labor. You even deserve to make a profit if people like your work so much! The problem is when this is taken to the extreme by unrestrained companies and their executives that will cost-cut and extract every last penny of consumer surplus in the market, leaving poor quality products for a high price. Those profits then don't get used in efficient ways that benefit their employees. Generally, this is characteristic of a market failure, when regulation needs to step in (part of econ theories btw). America doesn't uhhh do that these days, and you can look at econ and political history to verify this.
Disregard for the arts is something that is not isolated to the business adjacent fields, but I believe it is cultural. Arts programs have been decreasing in public schools for a while in the States, so it shouldn't be surprising this is where it ends up. Fundamentally, we need to start prioritizing something else than profit margins for top companies as an indicator for general welfare in a country... something some economists have been pushing for for a while now.
The world is vast and complicated and nuance exists; its disregard will be a disservice to you and others. Hope this helps.
Sincerely, an Econ PhD student.
Why the media CEOs will always learn the wrong lessons
Yesterday a friend and I talked about how the entire (AAA) game industrie looked at BG3 being as popular as it is and going: "Oh, we need to produce 100+ hour games, I guess! Those sell!" Which... obviously is not why it is popular. The game is not popular because it has 100+ hours of gameplay, but because it has engaging characters, that are well-acted and that work as good hooks for the players. Like, let's face it: The reason why I so far have sunken 160 hours into this game is, because I wanna spend time with these characters - and because I wanna give them their happy endings.
But the same has happened too, just a bit earlier this year, right? When Barbie broke the 1 billion and every Hollywood CEO went: "Oh, so the people want movies based on toy franchises! Got it!" To which the internet at large replied: "... How is that the lesson you learned from this?"
Well, let me explain to you, why this is the lesson they learn: It is because the CEOs and the boards of directors at large are not artists or even engaged with the medium they produce. They mostly are economists. And their dry little hearts do not understand stuff more complex than numbers and spread sheets.
That sounds evil, I know, but... It is sadly the truth. When they look at a successful movie/series/game/book/comic, they look at it as a product, not a piece of art or narrative. It is just a product that has very clear metrics.
To them Barbie is not a movie with interesting stylistic choices that stand out from the majority of high budget action blockbusters. It is a toy movie with mildly feminist themes.
Or Oppenheimer is not a movie to them with a strong visual language and good acting direction. No, it is a historical blockbuster.
And this is true for basically every form of media. I mean, books are actually a fairly good example. In my life I do remember the big book fads that happened. When Harry Potter was a success, there was at least a dozen other "magical school" book series being released. When Twilight was a big success there was suddenly an endless number of "teen girl falls in love with bad boy, who is [magical creature]" YA. When the Hunger Games was a success, there were hundreds of "YA dystopia" books. Meanwhile in adult reading, we had the big "next Game of Throne" fad.
Of course, the irony is, that within each of those fads there might have been one or two somewhat successful series - but never even one that came even close to whatever started the fad.
Or with movies, we have seen it, too. When Avengers broke the 1 billion (which up to this point only few movies did) the studios went: "Ooooooh, so we need shared universe film series" - and then all went to try and fail to create their own cinematic universe.
Because the people, who call the shots, are just immensely desinterested in the thing they are selling. They do not really care about the content. All they care about is having a supposedly easy avenue of selling it. Just as they do not care about the consumer. All they care about is that the consumer buys it. Why he buys it... Well, they do not care. They could not care less, in fact.
So, yeah, get ready for a 20 overproduced games with a bloated 100+ hours of empty gameplay, but without the engaging characters. And for like at least 15 more moves based on some toy franchise, that nobody actually cares about.
And then get ready for all the CEOs to do the surprised Pikachu face, when all of that ends up not financially successful.
Really, I read some interviews yesterday from some AAA-studio CEOs and their blatant shock and missing understanding on why BG3 works for so many people.
Because, yeah... capitalism does not appreciate art. Capitalism does not understand art. It only understands spread sheets.

Hurdlers, whether they are human athletes, dogs, or horses, have long been prized for their incredible speed and agility in hurdle races. But what many people may not realize is that these exceptional animals also have a unique connection to the coasts of the world and the ancient woolly mammoth species.
One of the main reasons why hurdlers are pyrogenic for coasts is their natural athleticism and ability to navigate obstacles with ease. Hurdle races, which involve jumping over a series of barriers, require great speed, agility, and precision – qualities that are prized in coastal landscapes as well.
In fact, the coastal regions of the world are known for their diverse array of hurdles, from natural barriers like sand dunes and rocky cliffs, to man-made obstacles such as fences and walls. This challenging terrain has likely played a role in the evolution of both hurdlers and the woolly mammoth species.
Speaking of the woolly mammoths, these ancient creatures were also known for their impressive ability to navigate harsh landscapes. Pyrogenic in nature, woolly mammoths were adapted to survive in the extreme cold of the Ice Age, using their thick coats of fur to stay warm and their large tusks to dig through snow and ice.
But what do hurdlers and woolly mammoths have in common when it comes to coastal regions? The answer lies in the unique characteristics of these landscapes. Coasts are often marked by a rugged, uneven terrain with shifting sands and unpredictable weather patterns. This makes them incredibly challenging for both hurdlers and woolly mammoths to navigate.
For hurdlers, this challenging terrain is an opportunity to showcase their athletic abilities. Their pyrogenic nature gives them an advantage in navigating obstacles and their speed is essential in outrunning competitors on unpredictable ground.
On the other hand, the woolly mammoths would have relied on their pyrogenic adaptations to traverse the coasts, allowing them to survive in a harsh and ever-changing environment. Their physical strength would have been crucial in navigating through difficult terrains, such as steep cliffs and shifting sands.
Despite the obvious differences between hurdlers and woolly mammoths, both share a natural affinity for rugged landscapes like coasts. Their innate ability to thrive in these challenging terrains is a testament to their impressive adaptability and strength.
So the next time you see a hurdler race on a coastal track, remember that these athletes share a common bond with the ancient and majestic woolly mammoths who once roamed these very same coasts.
