I'm starting to rate the Cyrano de Bergerac versions based on whether or not they make me desire him carnally by the end of the play

I have to see the charm in the three of them#Their wit‚ their sweetness‚ their passion‚ cleverness‚ cunning and kindness#The flaws that make them who they are and also what makes them loveable and unforgettable precisely for who they are#By the end of a production I want to see Christian not for the pretty face the marquises‚ Roxane‚ de Guiche or Cyrano see at first#but the man Cyrano still mourns by the end. I want to see not only the beauty of Roxane that makes everyone love her at first sight#but also her wit‚ cunning‚ cleverness and poetic mastery‚ her fiery and valiant personality‚the charm that makes the love for her constant‚#grow deeper and more intense no matter the years#By the end of a production I want to almost forget about Cyrano's nose. I want his voice and his demeanour to be what is most memorable#I want to know him and see him clearly for who he is and thus love him for his faults despite his faults#I want to be as baffled and frustrated as Le Bret‚ Christian and Roxane are by the fact that he is blind to his charm and charisma‚#and how attractive that makes him. where we are today
once upon a time, in the not-too-distant past, the world was under the reign of an animal species called homo sapiens sapiens: the human. these creatures, despite having few physical specialties like claws, fins, or wings, had incredible intelligence, and turned their sparkling minds into a force to be reckoned with: they had the ability to create and destroy at will. they were almost like gods.
but they were not gods, even if many of them thought themselves to be; no, unlike gods, they each had a soul.
like any other animal, each human would be born with an empty glowing sphere which would be filled with the individual's personality, interests, relationships, memories, values, identity, and other such things as they learned, grew, and lived: it would turn from transparent to colorful. at the end of their days, a human's organic body would die, and their soul would drift into the expanse of heaven: its contents, its color, would be removed (perhaps it is stored somewhere), and the now-empty soul would be recycled for a newly-born life.
these humans had lots of power, among them the power to live long, fulfilling, love-filled lives; unfortunately, because of structures they imposed on themselves, many lives were cut short by cruelty, and many were full of suffering and anguish. some say that humans were always going to stoop to selfishness, to hurt and steal and kill, as it is their nature; the much sadder truth, however, is that they had so much potential to be kind, to make the world beautiful… but they failed to live up to it. they failed themselves.
many humans longed for a better world; they dreamed of a utopia, a place where people could live freely and happily and together, where they can sing and play and frolic in the great green of earth's heaven. they didn't want the world to go on like it had been anymore. but could their dream become a reality? or had their species broken the world, and themselves, too much for things to be fixed?
perhaps, if every human paused their human lives, for just a moment… if they just sat and thought and looked at the world, for just a single moment… they could listen to the world, how it hums. the same tune that their fragile hearts sing, from deep within their bony chests. without all the noise of themselves, humans could come together and see the world, and themselves, for how it truly is. but humans are a rube goldberg machine; there is always something moving. how could any human put it all on hold?
nobody knows. but somebody must've pressed the pause button.
not long ago, a mysterious event transpired: every human being on earth died, all at once, leaving not a trace.
this might seem horrific -- and yes, it was scary, disorienting, earth-shaking -- but more than anything, it was enlightening. this phenomenon came to be known as "the human-object singularity".
at the singularity, the body surrounding each human soul suddenly disappeared, leaving each colorful orb to travel aimlessly through space. under normal circumstances, each soul would go straight to heaven -- but these were not normal circumstances.
the souls, glowing their rainbow light, unconsciously drifted, like sleepwalking through air, looking for their human bodies: they could not find them. at the end of three days, each soul imbued itself in whatever object was nearby. each individual retained every mental characteristic they had before, though lacked a human body: they now possessed a body of abiotic, and likely man-made, material. when they awoke, wherever their souls' wanderings had led them, and whatever body they now inhabited, they had to come face to face with a new world.
these now-sentient inanimate objects, with no biology to their forms, did not need air to breathe, or food to eat, or water to drink; in addition, given the circumstances, any destruction ("death") an individual faced would not lead to their soul's ascent to heaven and subsequent emptying -- it would just float for three days, as before, and enter a new inanimate vessel. their mind and heart would stay the same, just in a different place and different body.
everyone was now effectively immortal.
now, what do you do if you cannot die, and you cannot hunger or thirst or grow ill? what do you do with your time? do you spend it fighting, like the humans had done in their prime? certainly not over resources; if you do fight, it is over trivial things -- like football, or other silly competitions. it's all for fun.
across the globe, country and economy soon faded to nothing, as did property and war; greed does not last long in an infinite world. no, the world became everyone's playground: let's explore, let's do something stupid, let's pick up a new hobby, let's build an invention, let's meet new people, let's ask questions and maybe try to answer them, let's play pretend, let's count the stars and make up new numbers to count them all.
the world was now full of water bottles and screwdrivers, puzzle pieces and belt buckles, all weaving between the flora and fauna as they learned to truly love the garden of eden they'd never known to love.
of course, as fear began to fizzle, many objects ended up destroyed in their carefree escapades; a friend could often try and guide the soul into a nearby object, and perhaps a similar one to the one before, but it wasn't a perfect process. some embraced the entropy; others were unnerved by it.
since the singularity occurred, scientists from all around the globe began investigating what had flipped humanity around, and were particularly taken to analyzing the soul. after several exciting years, they created the soul ID system, with which a soul, its previous bodies, and its location can all be identified. once their technology was fully developed, these researchers began creating recovery centers: these futuristic containers could hold a soul, identify it, and fast-order a replacement object to be teleported to it for a new body (with all of the time and curiosity in the world, it is no wonder that teleportation would also be developed by this time).
suffice it to say, that in this current age of objects, "humans" are happier than ever. they are inventing new games to play, and forming new connections with one another. no longer human, their humanity truly bursts forth.
but every so often, one object turns to the other, and asks, "who made this happen? who are we to thank?"
perhaps it doesn't answer the question, yet it is answer enough: "each other. for realizing what this could mean for us."
and they fall silent once more, as any inanimate object would in older days -- but thinking. breathing. living.

“I accept what Rena did. I accept that she had no choice other than to do this, and that this was her last resort after thinking it through many times. So... I’m going to side with her..! If she’s guilty of anything, she’s only guilty for not talking to us about it beforehand. But I forgive her for that too! I forgive her for coming to this point!!! So!! I beg you all! Please forgive me for not noticing Rena’s situation and for letting her go through it alone.” - Keiichi Maebara, Higurashi When They Cry Hou - Ch.6 Tsumihoroboshi.
This was the most difficult part to get through in the entire series for me. You know, for such a brash and bold guy, Keiichi has a whole hidden layer of maturity and empathy built in him. Reading through all of this, you can feel the regret, the sorrow, the shame, the pain, the despondence, the longing for forgiveness and happier days... You feel that in each character.
More importantly, you can especially feel the empathy that friendships should always have! They all affirm feeling ashamed and truly put themselves in each other’s shoes. Standing in a circle and holding each other was symbolic in that they were putting all of their emotions in one big cross to carry, and feeling through the emotions together as friends. How powerful is that?! They all cried because they genuinely felt what the others were feeling. As Keiichi stated himself, “So now, we finally became true friends!!” after reminding Rena the importance of communication for things like this. It would be the trial to test their friendship and transcend them into the closest friends in the whole world. Rena believes that friends should exist to help each other, and in this failure to help her, they pledge to stand by her now and forever. It’s the sweetest and most heartfelt scene in any series I’ve experienced.
I think this is the attitude that the world needs.
Genuine understanding. Taking the “love thy neighbor” law of life to a sincere and supportive way. A real, caring connection.
“B-but Rena ******** someone! That’s the biggest sin there is! She’s evil and she doesn’t deserve forgiveness!”
If anyone has that thought process, you missed the point of the story. The whole point is that there exists not bad people in this world, only bad choices. Sin is something to be overcome, not an energy to be absorbed in you forever. Earnest effort, and asking for this forgiveness is the key to escape the cage. As depicted in this chapter, Rena suffers through so much. Family divide, betrayal, paranoia, trust issues, delusions, self-doubt, depression, and more. There are factors at play, and these skew and cloud one’s mental awareness and acuity to an egregious degree. This choice was not consciously made by her, meaning that the sinful act psychologically infiltrated beyond rational thought or morality. Therefore, the act itself wasn’t performed by “Rena”, since what consists of “Rena” is all of the traits, morals, beliefs, and characteristics we already know and love. You are your consciousness. If you’re not conscious, you’re not experiencing, if you’re not experiencing, you’re not living, and if you’re not living, you’re not there as yourself. Please note there’s also a clear difference between “being alive” (biologically) and living (actually experiencing life as you). It’s difficult to explain, but as soon as you encountered any form of mental trauma, you’ll understand it precisely as it is. You’ll feel like what previously happened was another reality, or even an entirely separate existence. Since the experience did happen, she is still responsible for the crime, of course. Though, this doesn’t inherently mean her entire being is “evil”, only the act itself - given the circumstances. You may feel stained from it, but that’s only your inner moral compass doing its job (the “superego” in psychoanalytic theory).
The second point of the story is forgiveness, even the highest severity of sin. I know hands down that if I had a friend like Rena, and this exact scenario happened, I would stand by her in a heartbeat. Easier said than done, right? Well, that’s where the empathy comes in. If you sincerely love someone who you know suffered through a lot mentally, who committed a wrongdoing or sin, you’ll still see the goodness in them - since you loved them for a good reason to begin with! That is to say, that goodness may still dissipate if they don’t care about harming others or feel any remorse or regret, that’s when it’s then the right call to get away from them. Rena has enough goodness in her to go beyond her sin, and it’s clear she was trapped into a corner with no way out. She can atone and redeem herself, it’s possible - especially with the love and support of friends.
Those two points are what the Higurashi crew understood immediately, and that’s why they all chose to forgive each other and support one another through this dreadful event. They even recognized their own wrongdoings and self-reflected at that moment! The majority of people would point fingers, vilify, and condemn Rena immediately in the real world. It takes a massive amount of awareness and maturity to do what Keiichi, Rika, Mion, and Satoko did, and even some self-sacrifice, since the burden would infect them as well, but they all knew Rena was well-worth it, and that’s why they are all the best, most ideal friends.
You know, long ago there was a scene in Code Vein with a cute “friendship always wins and we can get through anything together” message between the characters... Back then, when I was in an evil and darkened fog, I scoffed at it. Crazy right? Who would laugh at such a sweet and sincere message? My friend at the time defended it and its importance, and clearly, I was a fool at failing to see its underlying value... I now love scenarios like those whenever I encounter them, and that sort of attitude is among the most prized things you can ever possess in your life.
If I was who I am now all those years ago and beyond, everything would be different. Just as if Rena was who she is at that moment in the story, she would not have committed such a sin, especially after knowing her friends would stand by her.
Overall, this is my favorite scene in the entire series so far. After experiencing it, I’m committing to be as forgiving and as good of a friend as they are. I’ll stand by you through thick and thin, and we’ll get through anything and everything together. Fervently, I’ll carry everyone in my heart as I go. As simply put as that.

these are great combinations when it comes to getting along too well. these people know what they need, not to mention that this is a great opportunity to see themselves in a deeper way.
however, is it just good things? no! it 's possible that at one time or another having someone so close to you can be exhausting and irritating. examples: let's imagine a very earthy Virgo, worried with different things and very hardworking. if s/he has a very strong friendship or even a love relationship with another Virgo, there will be times when such closeness can bother because the person can’t receive another vibe that is not similar to her/his to balance.
another example: a cancer person who is in a loving relationship with another cancer person. there is a day when the first is completely melancholy and also passive-aggressive, without wanting to talk about what is going on. unless at first the another cancer won’t be able to change that energy if her/his normal way is to act in a passive-aggressive way as well. then, for a while, both will stay that way, which can be toxic to both of them.
it's as if the glass in some moments could be filled with similar characteristics overflowing the glass since there is nothing different to reduce all the intensity and amount of such energy.

Compiled cbw’s Kuraneo thoughts + theories
Warning : Don’t read if you’re a Kuraneo antis. For fellow Kuraneo fans, just because I write it doesn't mean you have to agree. There are multiple but no wrong ways to interpret the ship and my opinion below strictly follows the canon storyline. We don't need any reason to ship anything but considering their rocky start, it's fun to analyze what happen.

Is it really a senseless ship?
Most complaints regarding Kuraneo is how problematic the ship is and the impossibility for Kuraneo to happen. The main problems are : Neon is a body collector, therefore it is impossible for Kurapika to be with her. Especially when she specifically collects scarlet eyes. Neon is also a shallow childish brat, while Kurapika is portrayed as a mature, cool-headed protagonist. But is it really?
Implications to be Canon
In January 2020 I spared my time to catch up with HxH. It really surprised me after I read the manga carefully, Kurapika was given the title of 'young boss/underboss' in Nostrade family. Whoever has seen the Godfather and read Cosa Nostra Wikipedia page would know that the title is usually given to a son. He could've been given the title 'consigliere'', but he didn't. There has been several changes in translation but he still is the Nostrade family leader(The Japanese version is Waka-Gashira(Young Boss), under Oyabun(Boss), while consigliere is Saiko-Komon). That gave me an assumption : "What if he is a Nostrade now?" I am not surprised since a man marries into a girl's family is kind of traditional norm in Japan (Reference : mukoyōshi (婿養子).

“ A mukoyōshi (婿養子) (literally "adopted son-in-law") is an adult man who is adopted into a Japanese family as a daughter's husband, and who takes the family's surname.
Generally in Japan, a woman takes her husband's name and is adopted into his family. When a family, especially one with a well established business, has no male heir but has an unwed daughter of a suitable age, she will marry the mukoyōshi, a man chosen especially for his ability to run the family business.[1] If there is no daughter, the candidate can take a bride from outside his adopted family (fūfu-yōshi: 夫婦養子). This is done to preserve the business and name of the family when there is no suitable male heir, since traditionally businesses are inherited by the oldest male heir. Mukoyōshi is also practiced if there is no capable male heir to run the family business.[1] This is a centuries-old tradition and is still widely practiced today. Many Japanese companies with household names such as Nintendo, Kikkoman, and Toyota have adopted this practice.[1] This adult adoption may take place in marriages where the woman's family is of a higher socio-economic rank than the man's family, where the woman has no brothers to be the heir to the family name, when the man has been disowned by his own family, or when the man's natural family comes from a notorious or shameful background and he thus prefers to hide his identity. “

Kurapika and Neon are also paired in the Mobage which implies that the creator himself has approved the ship. There is a reason why Meruem and Bisky is not paired together.

Looking at Kurapika as a character
Now let’s look at Kurapika’s character. His character goal is to avenge his clan and collect all his brother and sister’s eyes. He’s shown to have strong prejudice against flesh collector and even decided to work for Nostrade family based on that reason. He went as far as planning to arrest them before meeting Neon. And even after meeting Neon, he convinced himself once again that in order to pursue his goal, he is willing to kill her (”If I have to kill her, so be it”, as rephrased my Melody). Yet he is also shown to be pleased when he is pointed as the head bodyguard, stating that “I didn’t think... It would work out so quickly” .He seems to have completely changed his plan. Because what is better than arresting/killing Neon? That would be having access to Nostrade’s family resources by being Light’s trusted person. And after Neon lost her power, Light Nostrade is shown to be losing his mind, being unable to function normally as a leader. Begging Kurapika to turn “Neon back to normal”. Kurapika does the job instead for Light, saying that “Don’t worry. I’ll handle everything.” At this point, he is the suitable guy to run the family. Considering his Waka-Gashira title, it is safe to assume he got the title by marrying her through son-in-law adoption. Looking at Neon as a character I am a big fan of aspoonofsugar’s character meta posts and the post about Neon’s Nen and Character insight brings a new perspective on how I see Neon.

She is clingy to her material possessions but not to people, as implied in her reaction to Dalzollene's death. While all her bodyguards and haters assume that she’s a heartless unempathetic character. The actual reason is related to her belief. For Neon, the present is the only thing that matter. She shows her empathetic side when Chrollo cried and Eliza broke down hearing Squalla’s death. She cares about the livings and her noble altruistic power reflects her character.
Regarding the son-in-law theory, I would say that she simply does not have a say in this matter when her family is crashing down. We are never shown Neon’s perspective on Kurapika  whether she likes him or not. I personally never ever once see a canon scene where Neon is implied to have crush on Kurapika. She had fluttering heart moment for Chrollo instead and I guess that's because Chrollo is one of the people whom has shown genuine emotions in front of her, just like Eliza over Squalla. Her appreciation to genuine feelings and honesty is probably caused by Light’s many lies in order to use her power.
We're told the story from Kurapika's point of view, therefore it's very easy to antagonize Neon like majority of her haters. But given Neon's appreciation to honesty and authenticity, who is at fault here? Kurapika just appears in her life, planning to use her and her family for his ends. He is just another Chrollo and Light Nostrade. (IRONICALLY This is why I ship their very unique relationship. But they do need each other for provision and protection, so props for Kurapika lmao) 
So if the son-in-law theory is true, is it possible for them have feelings for each other?
Of course it wasn't long before we got twists here and there. Neon's power disappearance from Chrollo's book, Kurapika referring himself not having the place to go home anymore. He seems to have so much authority to access Nostrade family resources without having a friendly term with them. Assuming they don’t have a normal loving relationship at the first sight makes sense. I don't think anyone marrying into Nostrade family will ever get their emotional needs fulfilled. Nostrade is never the traditional happy family. Neon is emotionally detached and Light only cares about power. They are the opposite of Zoldyck whom are sick in their own way. They only care about themselves and Kurapika is also one. He missed Gon's recovery and does not seem to value his own life. In other words. Doesn’t that mean Kurapika is only using her, then?
No. At this point, it means they need each other and it’s either they do like each other or simply have mutual physical attraction regardless how they feel.
(It is unfair to say Kurapika takes advantage of Nostrade family when Nostrade family themselves need Kurapika, or else, they will not function. Needing each other is not equal to taking advantage of each other, it is the basic of household.
As for the last part, I have seen many cases where even people who constantly says "beauty doesn’t matter” and proving their point by considering their spouses unattractive are STILL ATTRACTED PHYSICALLY to their spouse. Please feel free to disagree)

Walster and her colleagues found that the only important determinant of participants’ liking for their date was his or her physical attractiveness. None of the other characteristics—even the perceived intelligence of the partner—mattered.

When feelings are discussed : From my intrepretation, I always think people got it backwards about Kurapika and Neon. Kurapika has an icy facade, but he is the type of person who grow on people, while Neon is not. Even when he distanced himself from the other bodyguards at their first meeting, he is the one who cares the most about his "comrades"/teammates, he punched Uvo for killing his teammates. Neon, on the other hand, doesn't even flinch when she heard that Dalzolenne is dead although he's been the one who took care of her. She even made one of her servant as wall decoration. But there is a possibility she also grows on people AS LONG AS they’re still alive, that’s why she cared about Eliza. The problem is, once they’re dead, they become another story in the irrelevant past. That does not make her a bad person in grey HxH universe, but someone with different values due to her belief and upbringing. Kurapika demonstrates his understanding of her when describing her to Basho. In fact, he is the most understanding person that treats her nicely and does not harm her even though he had the intention to. Kurapika didn't think Neon losing her ability as the family downfall or disability, unlike her own father. As much as assuring everything will be okay when Light broke down in GI Arc. This is a huge revolution in her life because since Kurapika stepped in, someone is finally using her without the need of her ability.
Neon’s loss of ability actually sounds like a parallel to Pairo when people around them refer them as "not normal" for having less functional leg and no ghostwriter ability. They were also both supposed to be under his care/companion when the accident happened. This leaves a huge question mark for me of how Kurapika interprets her at this point. Is he only using her or he feels responsible? or both?

The first possibility means he likes her enough to marry/sleep with her but still barred from prejudice to consider her as his friend. (Even this is debatable, Kurapika simply could be a private person and given that his clan was living in hidden presence, it's only normal if he want to hide Neon's presence too. And Neon also likes him enough to marry/sleep with him but not enough to get involved in his life. (Or is she? Sometimes I have to remind myself HxH can't be seen through normal perspective because no hunter is fit for normal family life. So maybe Neon's dismissive attitude makes her the perfect one for him)
The second possibility means they are in loving relationship off-screen. I'd say this is a very high probability because based on personality analysis above, both characters are capable of growing on each other. Another note : Neon's design is strongly based on Princess Luna from Level E, where she is a love interest to Prince Baka. The story take it lightly despite being "king x revolutionary" couple. And while for us, it feels like a long time. For the in-universe characters, black whale is only like a month of work CMIIW.

But either way, I’d say they do harbor some sort of affection in canon. We have a negative perception on arranged marriage, assuming the affection is not valid because it is a form of Stockholm syndrome. I will quote my argument straight from Quora where the responder had successfully arranged more than 40 marriages.

What if she’s dead?
Some people would say Kurapika killed her but that is totally impossible and out of character. Her death is only assumed by the Phantom Troupe because her power dissapear from the book. Nen is extremely flexible concept even in-universe and there are many ways to work around that. Also in contradictive, Kurapika managed to take 9 pairs of eyes from 'the mafia's daughter' without killing anyone. I doubt he would do nothing after Chrollo stole her ability. I assume it would be insulting to Kurapika if people say he let Neon to just die considering he takes his job seriously and inheriting Nostrade name.
And frankly, I don’t care if she’s dead. Kakin war arc & Dark continent arc will also take approximately 20-40 years to finish. Whether she’s dead or not I’m going to enjoy my time with my interpretations based on canon implications given. And if she is indeed proven to be dead, I’ll accept it and just have fun in the fandom. I respect Togashi as the author.
Why don't the Nostrade just adopt Kurapika without the marriage?

Honestly after my last note, I gave it another thought and I couldn't possibly see another explanation of why he could be a Nostrade family boss. If anyone asks me, I refuse to ignore the implications Togashi gave and say they're canon 100%.
Given Kuraneo’s complex relationship and their neutral interaction, its brilliance lies in how flexible people can be in interpreting them. I enjoy many different kind of interpretations. My favorite thing about Kuraneo is although we never get any implication that Neon ever noticed Kurapika, many fics describe it as the other way round because from Neon’s POV it would be liking someone that embody her fetish. I especially love this headcanon, love it when people portray Neon as deviant.That escalate from 0 to 100 real quick. Being a part of Nostrade also means Kurapika gets to accept his past as something that shapes him to be the man he is today. But honestly, I just love hateships and their big chances of hating while loving each other.
I would say that whatever off-screen and how readers interpret their relationsip and feelings is up for us to decide until HxH truly reach the ending. And that’s only if Togashi is willing to disclose their relationship. I would be happy if they become canon, but if not then I’ll still ship them just like how I will still ship Pitou x Kai and Chrollo x Kurapika. Naoko Takeuchi, Togashi’s wife said once in her interview that she likes seeing different interpretations of Sailor Moon from her fans. I’m a Sailor Moon fan too and I wish to respect her view by applying the same to her husband’s works.

Spirituality in islam: The All-Beautiful Names of God
Since the time of the Last Messenger, upon him be peace and blessings, the All-Beautiful Names of Godxalted is His Majesty, have been a right-guiding source for knowing and recognizing the Divine Being in accordance with His Attributes of Majesty and Grace, and for protecting those who have been able to study and understand them correctly from straying, and for pouring forth true knowledge about the truth of Divinity to those who have been so protected. Everyone who has set off to acquire true knowledge of God has advanced toward deepening in belief in the bright light of the All-Beautiful Names and in their areas of manifestation. In pursuit of true knowledge and love of God Almighty and in pursuit of spiritual pleasures, they have given these Names into the hands of their outer and inner faculties, like so many mysterious keys that will open the doors of knowing Him in accordance with His “true Nature or Identity;” thus they have advanced toward the horizon of “seeing,” knowing, and experiencing Him in the light of the truth that radiates through these doors.
Even though from the earliest days of Islam the All-Beautiful Names have always been a pure source for those who want to have recourse to them for knowledge of God, they began to be studied and discussed systematically in later eras. So many books, brief or detailed, in prose or in verse, have been written about the All-Beautiful Names of God that it is not possible to determine them or to mention all of them.
The All-Beautiful Names are God’s Names of Glory Which mean the All-Beautiful and All-Exalted Names. The Divine Names are mentioned with this title both in the Qur’an and the accurately related sayings of our master, the Prophet, upon him be peace and blessings. Among these Names, Allah (God) is in the form of noun, while the others are in the form of adjectives. The glorious Name Allah (God), Which is the Word of Majesty, is the all-glorious Title of the Divine Essence, Which encompasses all the other Names; it is not possible to expresses Its meaning with another word.
Among the All-Beautiful Names, those such as al-Quddus (The All-Holy and All-Pure), as-Salam (The Supreme Author of peace and salvation),al-Ahad (The Unique One of absolute Oneness), and al- Wahid (The One of absolute Unity) mark, like the Attributes of Exemption, the all-holiness, all-purity, and absolute uniqueness of the Divine Being. The all-glorious Names al-Hayy (the All-Living), al- ‘Alim (the All-Knowing),as-Sami‘ (the All-Hearing), al-Basir (the All-Seeing), al-Murid (the All-Willing), al-Qadir (the All-Powerful), and al-Mutakallim (the All-Speaking) appear as translators of the Positive or Affirmative Attributes; the all-sacred Names, such as al- Khaliq (the Creator), al-Mubdi (the All-Initiating), al-Muhyi (the All- Reviving, the Giver of Life), al-Mumit(The One Who causes to die), ar-Razzaq (the All-Providing), al-Wahhab (the All-Bestowing), al- Ghaffar (the All-Forgiving), as-Sattar(the All-Veiling), al-Bari (the All-Holy Creator), and al-Musawwir (the All-Fashioning) are indicative of the manifestations of the Attribute of Making Exist on different wavelengths.
Whatever truth of the Divine Essence the Names reflect and whatever Attribute they translate, all of the All-Beautiful Names of God are expressive of a different beauty, sacredness, sanctity, and perfection in the name of that All-Transcending Being. Whenever they are mentioned, they mark the limits of the truths for belief with their meanings, contents, and luminosity, they arouse respect in believing spirits, and cause the hearts that beat with respect to turn to God once again, more deeply. Every blessed Name Which is mentioned in awareness in the depths of one’s conscience removes the filth, soot, and rust from eyes and hearts, rips up the veils of corporeality, and shows spirits to the realms beyond and what lies further beyond. They remind us of the All-Sacred One to Whom they refer, as if they were our intercessors with Him; as long as people remember and mention God with these Names, hearts find contentment and rest. Furthermore, according to the rule, “The value of the knowledge is proportionate to what is known,” those who know these blessed Names with respect to the Divine Being and attain certain degrees of profundity through them are greatly valued by the inhabitants of the heavens and included in the candidates for the Divine Presence. If being a candidate for the Divine Presence depends on true knowledge of Him, then that All- Majestic, All-High Being can only be known with His Attributes of Majesty and Grace in the luminous atmosphere of these Names. We know things only according to the limited extent of our sensations of their corporeal beings, and judge them accordingly. But true knowledge about God Almighty with His all-transcending Existence can only be acquired by knowing the totality of all of His All- Beautiful Names; He can be known only beyond all modalities of quality and quantity. This reality also indicates that He is a Necessarily Existent Being Whose Existence is by Himself. This is what all Muslims believe.
Some scholars of Sufism and the Islamic creed have regarded the All-Beautiful Names as the foundation of the truths of the universe, things, and humanity. They have made a highly different interpretation of these Names, saying: “The truths of things consist in the Divine Names.” According to them, all things, as well as all the willful and “instinctive” acts of humans and other beings—without ignoring the role of the free will in the acts of humans—are only mirrors that reflect the manifestations of the Divine Names. Bodies are only assemblages of material particles and compounds, while the Divine Names are in effect the spirits that reside in them. As for the true nature of these manifestations and the All-Majestic, All-High Divine Being Himself, before Whom the Names are veils, we should act in self-possession and remain in wonder, saying like the scholars of the Ahlu’s-Sunna: “God is completely different from whatever comes to your mind concerning Him,” or in the words of Imam ar- Rabbani: “God is beyond and further beyond whatever comes to your mind concerning Him.” Even though certain impulses arise from feelings or fanciful attitudes, or, in the words of Imam al - Ghazzali, “the worldly reason or intellect” clouds our atmosphere of spirit and heart, we should try to remain within the limits of our creed, saying like Ziya Pasha: “Perception of such transcendent matters is not something for our incapable reason / For these scales cannot measure such a great load.”
If God Almighty had not introduced Himself to us with His All-Beautiful Names, we would never be able to comprehend the truth concerning these Names in what is going on in the universe or to know the All-Sacred Being Who is called by them. It is only through His making His Being, His Essential Characteristics, and His Attributes of Glory known that we are able to have knowledge of the truths that we know today, even though this is incomplete. It is our belief that the Names in question are the titles of His Being; as a result we try to acquire bits of knowledge about the truth of Divinity, voicing our requests at His Door, which is open to all, and constantly observe these Names in hopeful expectation that our requests will certainly be answered, provided we submit to His judgments and commands. We believe that we can overcome our various troubles and ailments and be saved from our centuries-old problems by turning to Him, using these Names, each of Which has the effect of a different mysterious medication, as intercessors with Him.
We approach the All-Beautiful Names and understand them in accordance with whatever meaning they have in God’s sight and in the way the master of creation, upon him be the most perfect blessings and peace, perceived and interpreted them. We regard opposing considerations as deviance in thought and belief. How can we think and act otherwise when the Qur’an tells us that the denial of the Names, whether explicitly or by way of misguided interpretations, or the attribution of them, with their meanings and contents that are unique to God, to others than God is heresy? Declaring, God—there is no deity save Him; His are the All-Beautiful Names (20:8), the Qur’an refers the whole of existence, including humankind and the universe with whatever occurs in it, to those All-Beautiful Names.
It is of great importance that every responsible person has recourse to the Divine Names so that they can have accurate knowledge of God and entreat Him properly and be able to establish a proper relationship with their Creator. We begin every good deed with His Names, and render every act of service under their supervision. We believe that any work done without having recourse to these will be fruitless. The Names Allah (God) and ar-Rahman (the All-Merciful) are of particular importance and have a special place in the Divine Being’s sight. They are the first door through which we enter the clime of prayers and entreaties.
Even though some philosophers and the theologians influenced by them have put forward certain differing views about the All-Beautiful Names, as they have done for the Attributes, the scholars of the Ahlu’s-Sunna have always acted with care, sensitivity, and self-possession. Without going into detail or useless interpretations, they have maintained that the Names can be identical to or separate from the Divine Essence. It has sometimes happened that they have asserted in a moderate style that the Names are neither identical to nor separate from the Divine Essence, thus preferring to distance themselves from further discussion.
Some others among the Sufis have opined that the All-Beautiful Names, Which we know and recite, are in fact the titles of the real Names, while the truth of Names lies beyond them. They have approached the matter of the Names, saying like Yunus Emre: “There is Süleyman within Süleyman,” and asserted that there is a relation between the Names we know and the real Divine Names that are behind existence which is similar to the relation between the corporeal heart and the spiritual heart and that which exists between the spirit and the body. They have stressed that the real Names can only be realized through a profound spiritual experience and the ecstasy of feeling God’s holy Presence.
No matter what their true nature is, the All-Beautiful Names Which God Almighty has taught us in his manifest Book are each a mysterious key for a certain sort of relationship with Him in the heart and the spirit; through these we can traverse our distance from Him, advancing toward nearness to Him, something that we are aware of in our conscience. They are each a mysterious word which gives an answer when spoken. Those who possess these keys and regularly recite these luminous words are not left unanswered even when they attempt to purchase all the worlds, and are not turned back with empty hands when they become customers for the realms beyond.
Some scholars have asserted that God’s Names are only those Which God and His Messenger have taught us as Divine Names, and it is not acceptable to derive Names from certain Divine Acts or to attribute them to God as being among His All-Beautiful Names. However, it is a fact that many Divine Acts are mentioned in the Qur’an in a way that will lead to different Names. Moreover, God Almighty has not taught us all of His Names. As our master, upon him be peace and blessings, stated in his prayer that begins with: “O God, I am Your servant, and the son of Your male servant, and the son of Your female servant,” in addition to the All-Beautiful Names Which are mentioned in the Qur’an and certain Prophetic sayings, God has Names Which He mentioned in the previous Divine Books or Which He particularly informed some of His servants about or Which He keeps concealed with Him. However, we cannot know any of His Names unless He teaches them to us. We can know only the Names Which He has taught us either in the Qur’an or in the Sunna. Abu Hurayra, may God be pleased with him, narrates 99 Divine Names from the noblest Prophet, upon him be peace and blessings. Even though these same Names are narrated from the Prophet by Salmanu’l-Farisi, ‘ Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas, ‘ Abdullah ibn ‘Umar, and Caliph ‘Ali, may God be pleased with them, these narrations have not been authenticated. Some assert that the number 99 was used as a symbol of multiplicity in the hadith related by Abu Hurayra, therefore we cannot say that God’s All-Beautiful Names are restricted to 99.
Those who have maintained that the All-Beautiful Names are only those which we have been taught by the Qur’an and the Sunna do not deem it proper to attribute any other Names to God Almighty. Furthermore, they do not approve of mentioning God with any names that do not seem to be in keeping with the Qur’anic concept of Divinity when used singly. Therefore, they tend to mention such Names as the All-Requiting, the One Who gives harm, and the All-Constricting together with certain other Names, such as the All-Glorious with irresistible might and the All- Requiting, the One Who gives harm and benefit, the All-Constricting and the All-Expanding. Based on the fact that physical causes have been established as veils before the Divine Power’s involvement in insignificant-seeming affairs, it is possible to say that believers must always act in self-possession and with respect, care, and sensitivity with respect to how they approach the Divine Being. God is the Creator of everything, and therefore believers must mention Him as the Creator and avoid making specifications, such as the Creator of snakes or the Creator of vermin. However, we must also avoid going to the opposite extreme while taking care that nothing improper for God is attributed to him and claiming, like the Mu‘talizis, that God does not create evil or ugly things or events. For it is He Who creates both good and evil, and a thing or event is evil not with respect to its creation, but with respect to its doer and cause. This attitude is required by both the necessity of considering God’s Attributes correctly and observing the acts and effects of Divine Essential Characteristics, Attributes, and All-Beautiful Names. God is both the One of absolute grandeur and glory and the All-Merciful and All-Compassionate; He is both the All- Overwhelming and the All-Wise, both the One Severe in Punishment and the All-Patient. He is both the All-Majestic and the All- Gracious, and the All-Just and the All-Clement. We must always view Him in the light of the general meaning and content that is formed by the totality of His Attributes and Names.
The acts and designations attributed to God or mentioned in connection with Him must be considered from the perspective of His absolute Sacredness and Purity and His absolute exemption from any defect or resemblance to the created. For example, concepts such as making schemes, plotting, mocking, disgracing, or the like must be viewed and used in a style proper for the truth of Divinity and the essential characteristic of Divine Lordship. This is because respect for the Names and observing a style that is in keeping with God’s absolute exemption from any defect or resemblance means being respectful for the All-Sacred One Who is called by these Names. Not only should the All-Beautiful Names be considered with appreciation and without imputing any faults or defects to them, also the Divine acts and all works or creatures of the Lord, which are mirrors, results, and the arena of the manifestations of these Names, must be treated the same on account of their being indicators or witnesses of God Almighty. Those who rightfully approach the matter from this perspective remind us of an important point: we must always be appreciative of Divine Acts, hold the Divine Names as being absolutely free from any defect, and exalt the All-Sacred Divine Being.
With respect to the level of existence of every thing and as it is something that has been created, every being, every object speaks of Him in its own peculiar language and style. All creatures say in unison:
Our words differ, but Your Beauty is one;
All of them indicate that All-Beautiful Face.
If a person can look at existence with their conscience and lend an ear to the messages of events, they will discern the reality expressed by Hoja Tahsin:
Contemplate the lines of the universe,
For they are missives to you from the Highest Realm.
How can this reality not be discerned seeing that His Being is, in one sense, announced through the lines of the universe, and His Knowledge, Life, Power, and Will are voiced through them, that the manifestations of His Names of Glory are known through them on different wavelengths, and everything gives us great joy and happiness through the most delicate embroideries of the subtlest art, order and harmony they display?
I should remind our readers once more that even though the most accurately narrated Tradition concerning the All-Beautiful Names is the one reported by Abu Hurayra, may God be pleased with him, according to the majority of scholars the Divine Names are not restricted to those mentioned in this Tradition. On the contrary, there are many other Divine Names that are mentioned in both the Qur’an and the Sunna, both explicitly and by allusion. The 99 blessed Names mentioned in the Tradition in question may have special importance in respect of prayers, entreaties, supplications, and particular instances of turning to God Almighty. For as mentioned above, there are other Names that certain other people have been informed of, but Which have not been disclosed to everyone. The number of Names Which are mentioned in the Qur’an and the books of the accurately related Prophetic Traditions in the forms of nouns, adjectives, and verbal nouns is as much as 550, and even reaches 1,000 in the Traditions related by members of the Prophet’s Family.
In some cultures, God Almighty is mentioned with the Names or Titles Which are not opposed to the Qur’anic concept of the Divine Being, such as the One having no beginning, the Eternal in the past, the Eternal in the future, the Perpetual, the Everlasting, the Necessarily Existent Being, the Ever-Turner of hearts or the Ever-Disposer of hearts. “Tanrı” in Turkish and “Huda” in Persian can be viewed as being Names in the same strain. However, the promise for entering Paradise in return for consideration of God’s Names seems to relate to the Tradition reported by Abu Hurayra. That is, it was promised that one would enter Paradise if they considered God’s Names that were mentioned in the Prophetic Tradition reported by Abu Hurayra. We refer the truth of the matter to God Almighty; we turn to the scholars of Hadith for what is meant by consideration. They understand from this the regular, heart-felt recitation of those Names and the illumination of one’s inner world through them, as well as being respectful for the concept of the Divine Being that arises from their totality, following the principles of good conduct they provide, and trying to be aware of the mysteries of Divinity expressed by them.
All of the All-Beautiful Names are absolutely sacred. Some have regarded it impermissible to use some of these Names for others than God. These are Names like Allah (God), ar-Rahman (the All-Merciful),al-Quddus (The All-Holy and All-Pure), al-Muhyi, (The Giver of Life and All-Reviving), al-Mumit (The One Who causes to die), Maliku’l-Mulk(The Absolute Master of all dominion), Dhu’l-Jalali wa’l-Ikram (The One of Majesty and Grace), al-Akbar (The All-Great, the Greatest of All),al-‘A’la (The All-High), al-Khaliq (The Creator), ‘ Allamu’l-Ghuyub (The All-Knowing of the whole of the Unseen), and so on. If people want to give these Names to their children then they should add the word ‘abd(servant) before them. For example, they must use ‘Abdullah (God’s servant), ‘Abdur-Rahman (the servant of the All-Merciful), and ‘Abdul- Quddus (the servant of the All-Holy and All-Pure). This knowledge of the Divine Names and this approach to both the Divine Names and the truths of Divinity are unique to the Muslim Community. This approach is exceptionally important, particularly in respect of reflecting the difference between the Creator and the created correctly; this is required by the Divinity as well as by the fact that God is the absolutely and exclusively All-Worshipped One. This is also our duty.
In fact, God’s Essential, Affirmative, and Figurative Attributes and His Attributes of Exemption confirm this truth and call us to this correct approach. For this reason, in addition to knowing Him as the All-Knowing, the All-Living, the All-Powerful, the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing, the All-Willing, and the All- Speaking, based on their Affirmative Attributes, we must also affirm His absolute freedom from whatever is inappropriate for Divinity, such as impotence, poverty, neediness, defects, and having partners. Furthermore, we must in no way attribute any features that are peculiar to the created to God, such as being concerned with matter, time, space, physicality, or energy. We must believe that, in the words of Ibrahim Haqqi of Erzurum, God is an All- Majestic, All-High Being Who never eats or drinks, and Who is absolutely beyond time and space.
As will be mentioned below, some verifying scholars have divided the Divine Names into the categories such as the Names indicating the Divine Essence, the Names originating in the Affirmative Divine Attributes, and the Names indicating the Divine Acts. They have also regarded some Names as being the leaders or foundations of all the Names, and have made another categorization under the titles of the Names of Majesty and the Names of Grace. They have considered all the Names to be the foundation or source in which the truths of things originate or even these truths themselves, as well as being the means of all things being transferred from the Realm of the Unseen to the visible or manifest world through the Divine Knowledge, Wisdom, Will, and Power. Such scholars have stressed that these all-blessed Names are veils before the All-Sacred One Who is called by them. It is He alone Who knows the exact truth of everything, and what we must do is to believe in whatever He teaches us. It is unnecessary to make a detailed explanation of the All-Beautiful Names here as there are numerous studies that have been made so to date—a few of these were mentioned at the beginning of this article. You will find below the most widely known Divine Names only with just a brief explanation.
O God! Show us the truth as the truth and enable us to live by it; show us falsehood as falsehood and enable us to avoid it. And bestow Your blessings and peace on our master Muhammad and on his Family and Companions, altogether.

Exterminate, Exterminate!

The dark creepy robotic angels of death are used to exterminate the citizens of Hell to not only reduce their population, but to also plant fear. They have silver weapons that can kill any demon, as well as humans. They were made creepy on purpose: to fight fear with fear. They are sent down once a year to purge the citizens at random.
The exterminators were divided into several groups: the Exterminators, the Death Dealer Archangels and the mechanical angels.
Some of the dark angels used to be regular deceased people who couldn’t make it to heaven, but weren’t evil enough for hell. They had done bad things in life but with good intentions (like stealing money for the poor or killing criminals). When they did make it after many years in limbo, they disobeyed orders and took advantage of their freedom. (There was plenty of food and riches in heaven, and they kept much of it for themselves). They fell from heaven and were sent to Earth and eventually, hell when they didn’t learn their lessons.
After they worked hard to redeem themselves in hell, they were sent back up to heaven. To prove their worth, their leaders gave them a test and mission. They were given special spear weapons made of silver, forged from the flames of the sun that could kill any demon and erase any soul. They were sent down to hell once a year to reduce hell’s population by purging citizens once a year.
The only way to be freed from their duties was for them to realize that even killing sinners isn’t right. That everyone should be given a second chance. They had disobeyed God, fell to Earth, then proved their innocence through prayer and being nice (or at least tolerant) to the demons. Giving them special weapons and a direct order was a way to test them: would they choose for themselves what is right, or be willing to obey their master even if what they were doing was considered “evil?” After all, when people and the divine alike possess power, they can become very different individuals.
 Regarding the second group (Known casually as Death Dealer Archangels), other more experienced exterminators were actually archangels, leaders of other angels. Unlike regular angels, they were able to take on the appearance of black bird-like creatures with wings while wearing LED masks to scare off demons. Their jobs were to punish sinners and plan the purges each year. Puriel, Kushiel, Teneluehus, Raguel, Wormwood, Jeheel, Zacheniel, Ababhar, and their leader, Abaddon were the oldest and most experienced at their jobs. In fact, each one of them led attacks of choir exterminators onto one of the nine circles of hell.
 For the third group, there were a few dark angels that were purely robotic. These were mostly used for tests and replacements if the dark angels couldn’t participate in the purge.
 Heaven viewed Lucifer and the larger hell population as a threat, as Lucifer had waged a previous war against them. To prevent the threat, the exterminator dark angels were hired/created.
 There may be several reasons why Lucifer is against the idea of Charlie redeeming sinners and creating the Happy Hotel:
1.   It is part of their family’s legacy to make demons suffer and keep them in line. Creating a Happy Hotel would make the royal family appear weak to their rivals.
2.   If Charlie were to redeem demons, she might be given the opportunity to go to heaven. If that were the case, her father would never see her again.
3.   Lucifer has a deep grudge against God, the angels and archangels for being banished and for mortals being favored over him and the angels.
4.   Lucifer is overprotective of his daughter and worries that she will be harmed if the angels (or other demon overlords) find her. He doesn’t want her to draw too much attention. He calls her a failure because he doesn’t know how else to persuade her not to pursue her dream due to his worries of the previous listed scenarios.
5.   Lucifer worries that Charlie will find out that he was once an angel who punished and killed demons. The thought of her father previously killing “her people” would be too much to bear.
Vaggie remains in possession of a harpoon that can kill demons. The X over her eye is on her left eye, rather than her right, like the exterminators. Unlike many demons, Vaggie values respect and virtues. Perhaps there's an underlying reason why she has these traits?
After Vagatha died in 2014, she became an exterminator, neither good nor evil. Due to her doing evil actions with good intentions, she was put to the test and sent to purge demons every year.
But a certain demon princess caught her attention...the one demon she would not slay. For the two had fallen in love...but love comes with great costs.
But some people are willing to take the fall and brave exile, in the name of genuine feelings for a fellow friend.
  Vaggie, the lesbian moth demon, is Charlie’s best friend and the manager of the Happy Hotel. She is also Charlie’s current girlfriend. She arrived in Hell in 2014 and can speak Spanish. Vaggie has a strong hatred toward men, especially when they attempt to insult Charlie.
 Not much is known about her previous human life, but it’s implied that she likes punk rock music, and Latino music.
 This theory has been brought up before by fans. What if there’s more to Vaggie than meets the eye? If she’s a demon in Hell, why, then, would she have been an angel in the past (or have the potential to be one?)
  How did this theory come about? From similarities between Vaggie’s appearance and the looks of the exterminator angels, sent down to purge the citizens of Hell every year.
 First, there is the characteristic pink X over Vaggie’s left eye. One of the Exterminators seen in the trailer had an X over their left eye as well. A picture of an angel’s face also showed an X in place of one of their eyes.
 Second is Vaggie’s expertise with weapons, specifically the harpoon. Throughout the episode, she is shown holding a spear-like weapon that is capable of killing demons. The Exterminators use these weapons to “cleanse” or kill off the demons to keep the population at a set amount. Sometimes, these weapons are discarded, and are found by other demons to sell on the black market. In the opening introduction, white figures of the angels are shown holding spears similar to the harpoon Vaggie holds; a long weapon with a sharp curved blade at the top.
 It is also worth mentioning that when Vaggie warns Angel Dust about Alastor, her pink bow briefly takes on the shape of horns. The Exterminators themselves also have horns on their heads.
 But perhaps the most convincing point to this speculative theory is not Vaggie’s similar physical traits to the Exterminators. Perhaps it is her personality.
 Based on the wiki, Vaggie is described as “prudent and sensible,” more so than the other characters. She is often seen trying to keep Charlie out of trouble and making sure the hotel stays up and running. One example is when she tells Charlie to stay on topic during her interview and not to sing (though she doesn’t listen.) When a cameraman calls Charlie a “stupid bitch,” Vaggie punches him off a chair.
 Possessing a fiery temper, she confronts Angel Dust after his participation in the turf war against Sir Pentious. She is furious that Angel ruined Charlie’s reputation and that of the hotel. Though Charlie said he was “clean” for two weeks while spending time at the hotel, Angel then decided to resort to violence and drugs.
 Despite Alastor being powerful and intimidating, Vaggie doesn’t hesitate to point her weapon at him, while they’re at the hotel. He warns him not to harm Charlie and even insults him.
  The wiki also mentions that Vaggie has a wide knowledge about Hell, despite having been sent only recently. She knows about the Overlords and how dangerous Alastor is.
 Additionally, Vaggie cannot fly like the angels can but that doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t be a possibility in her full demon form (which has not been revealed as of yet.)
 How does this relate back to the Exterminators?
 While not much is known about these dark angels sent to Hell, it is assumed that they came from Heaven (or were once part of it). They would hold up certain standards and values such as obeying rules, not participating in sinful acts (despite the irony of them killing demons) among others.
 Vaggie is distrustful of sinners and of men, especially. Unlike many carefree demons, she is practical and protective of those she cares about. In one scene, Vaggie protests against allowing alcohol in the hotel, saying that the hotel “is a place that (should) discourage sin.”
 However, Vaggie still displays some so called “demonic” traits such as swearing and a fiery temper.
  The question is, how would Vaggie know about how Hell works so fast? How would she know how the overlords rise in power and information about Alastor’s rampages? Unless someone else told her about all of it, it wouldn’t be likely for her to know all the specific details so easily. It is assumed that only demons in higher positions of power would know about these dark politics.
But if no one told her about it, then how did she gain that knowledge on her own?
 Perhaps this will be explained in a future episode…
 Or, maybe Vaggie got this intelligence from a higher source of power, a group who knows the ins and outs of Hell to keep the overcrowded population from becoming a threat. You guessed it…the Exterminators and the inhabitants of Heaven.
  Vaggie may have been an Exterminator in the past, just after her death. She may have died from suicide or homicide. In her human life, Vaggie may have wanted to get justice on abusers and evil individuals…but went about it in the wrong way (violence or murder). Thus, she didn’t go to Heaven but not to Hell yet. She was tested and briefly became an Exterminator, to cleanse evil “for the greater good.” (Exterminators may have been previous souls who were truly neutral or did bad things that they thought were the right things to do).  
 Vaggie soon became a fallen angel.
 How, then, was she sent down to Hell? Maybe she enjoyed killing sinners a little too much (or not enough to complete her tasks). Or, more likely, her temper tampered with her ability to focus. After all, even dark bringers of death have rules to follow. Fearing that Vaggie was a threat, they sent her down to Hell (burning off her wings) with only a weapon to defend herself.
 Now she faced the ultimate test…survival in her new afterlife. She did remember one part of her mission: to keep the demon/angel Charlie out of trouble…and help her with her destiny to redeem sinners, and themselves.
 For if Charlie convinces demons to be good, they might be redeemed and be sent to Heaven (or become Exterminators), thus reducing the population and making Hell less of a threat…
 Something that the king of Hell and the overlords would not approve of…

A = Attractive (What do they find attractive about the other?)

Generally, Hanzo Hasashi is attracted to people who express themselves and their passions freely. He is drawn to people with a bit of mystery, but he wants to be able to open this person up and hear about their hopes and dreams. For him, the chase can sometimes be appealing, since it makes them feel excited and on edge. He just doesn’t like anything boring, and so he is attracted to people who can make him feel excited and ready for whatever comes next. It can be hard sometimes for Hanzo to differentiate when someone is playing games, or when the connection is sincerely strong between them, but he is often willing to take this risk. He doesn’t like being around people who keep everything bottled up and don’t know how to really share themselves with him.
Hanzo is attracted to people who are passionate about life and have exciting hobbies to share. He needs something he can connect with and want to be able to share himself with this person as well. Hanzo also is attracted to people who can be adventurous and willing to take chances in life. If this person can really shake things up and keep him guessing, he is likely to be drawn to this. And Ryou Sakai fits the majority of these categories, as Ryou is such an exquisite balance of being an enigma, while also being direct and simple in the deliverance of not only in his vocalizations, and his gesticulations as well. 
B = Baby (Do they want a family? Why/Why not?)
Hanzo is usually more strongly connected to the need to make others happy than to traditional values or roles, which gives him this openness and acceptance of the needs of others. If his partner or family prefers a certain structure or roles, he will most likely just go along with it because he doesn’t really mind either way. Because he has a natural need for independence and space that can make them seem a little distant to some family members. They dislike having their own personal boundaries breached and will usually withdraw if this happens. For other members of their family, who prefer closer and more intense bonds, this can feel like rejection or neglect, when it’s really just the ISFP protecting themselves against intrusion.
C = Cuddle (How do they cuddle?)
Hanzo Hasashi is a very physical person and truly enjoy observing the beauty in the world around him. He often enjoys giving and receiving hugs, even when he isn’t always the one to initiate this. He enjoys feeling close to his loved ones, and might want to constantly be touching his romantic partner. Hanzo enjoys physical touch as a way to express himself, and often love being close to people in this way, as this is one of his main ways to express his love and affection along with his words of affirmation. 
D = Dates (What are dates with them like?)
Hanzo has a true exploratory nature in which he loves to discover new things and have new experiences. He is charming and easy-going, attracting many potential dates to his agreeable and adventurous nature, despite the traumas and unapproachable visage he frequently wears as he happens to wear many different faces professionally, socially, and personally. Since both Hanzo and Ryou are both introverts, they frequently spend their off-days and free time lounging at home, exploring their sensuality, while they also like to explore outdoors and nature. They would most likely have a weekend getaway to an undisclosed secret location, more private, the better. Or just building a pillow fort at home could make Hanzo’s heart soar, as he is an adventurous introvert who likes to experience new things out of the ordinary to make them extraordinary. And with Ryou as his dedicated husband and lover, he doesn’t require too much extraneous things in order to enjoy an easy day in or out.

F = Feelings (When did they know they were in love?)
Since both looks and personality are important when it comes to Hanzo Hasashi’s idealized aesthetics. The former determines the first impression and presentation is really important, but a nice face with a horrible personality would definitely be out of the question for him. Jack/Ryou encompasses all the characteristic which Hanzo finds worth revering and respecting; Jack strongly exhibits not only the characteristics of a stoic hero. He is unfailingly kind and generous, and will always attempt to help those in need, as well as dispatching sagacious wisdom to those he believes are in need of guidance. He often ends up sacrificing a chance to return to his own time in order to help someone else. Those traits are the surefire ways Hanzo finds endearing, and Hanzo also knows that Jack/Ryou grants the most unadulterated trust and conviction of his love towards him. 
G = Gentle (Are they gentle? If so, how?)
Hanzo feels very strongly about his values and about treating other people right. Bullying, harsh words, and cruelty all impact him greatly. He has strong empathy and he comes across as gentle and sincere. While his brutal honesty and directness may come across as authentic and real, Hanzo is rather independent than opting for the idea of fitting in, which could make him a lone wolf amidst his squadron and even his colleagues, despite him having strong chemistry and bond due to multitudes of life-threatening, physical and mental injuries shared. That being said, Hanzo Hasashi is definitely not weak or a shrinking violet. He is practical, resourceful and creative when it comes to his gentility and he can think quickly in a crisis, which is why Hanzo excels at his perilous position of being a Commander. He is gentle but unyielding, sensitive but factual, and when it comes to his romantic/sexual relationship with Ryou, he can be more so be adventurous, even more kinky as their modern verse is much more open and viscerally raw, compared to their more vanilla, and proper canonical verses. 
H = Hands (How do they like to hold hands?)
As Hanzo is affectionate and a warm person, especially towards his loved ones. He doesn’t mind displaying his affection in public, and often become swept up in the moment. He becomes very present and enjoy being a part of the physical world around him. Hanzo wants to follow his heart and do whatever makes him the happiest, which is why he often doesn’t mind a little PDA. If he wants to express their affection in that moment, he won’t let his head get in the way as long as he finds the circumstances appropriate. With Ryou, he specifically enjoys small little touches that gradually builds up for them to entwine each and every finger, interlocking them together as they walk shoulder to shoulder, the expanse of their exposed flesh brushing as they do so in tandem. 
I = Impression (What was their first impression?)
Hanzo perceived Ryou as polite and intelligent upon first meeting him, but as both of them are particularly not the most outgoing people, Hanzo would have resented Ryou at first because how withdrawn and reticent he seemed to be, which could come across as dispassionate and unenthusiastic. But at the same time, Hanzo knew Ryou to be how to behave around others. Considering they both are naturally good communicators in their own ways, and will do their best to appear more extroverted in front of new people, especially Hanzo in his professional setting. Ryou often came across as the person who knew the right things to say, and eventually, despite the pent-up frustration and impatience on Hanzo’s side, eventually made a pleasant first impression for most people. Now Hanzo knows his beloved seemed to be more reserved at first, since he was attempting to be appropriate.
J = Jealousy (Do they get jealous?)
He isn’t definitely not a jealous person, since he likes to giving people space and room to be themselves without coming across as clingy and possessive. The last thing Hanzo wants is to smother his loved one, since he enjoys being able to have his own freedom as well. He wants to inspire the people he cares for to be themselves, no matter what that means. Hanzo does not want to possess people and prefer to trust them at all times. There might be moments where they want to have plenty of attention from their favorite person, which might make them seem possessive.
K = Kiss (How do they kiss? Who initiated the first kiss?)
While Hanzo comes off as quiet, supportive and encouraging, he is a partner who is meek yet a passionate individual. Although he is flexible and easy-going about many things, when it comes to relationships, he is utterly committed and serious. It was as if unspoken poetry was being born on his lips with that very first kiss.. a few thousand words shy of an entire language as it had been a slow and sensual, yet emotionally charged and determined one at that. Hanzo most likely initiated it, for he could be a lover who is full of spontaneity, affection, and sensuality. In fact, Hanzo is probably the most impulsive, and always has been on the lookout for someone whom he believes he could spend the rest of his life with. He can be counted on as a loyal and serious partner who will do what needs to be done in order for the relationship to thrive. 
L = Love (Who says ‘I love you’ first?)

Hanzo, despite his initial hardness, seriousness, and being always equipped with an intimidating and assertive facade, he could be very sensitive and will put forth great effort to mask his emotions (too often failing) so that others are clueless as to what is really going on under the surface. Ideally, he would choose a lover with a gentle and thoughtful disposition; one who is capable of handling problems and criticism in a smooth and careful manner. It is important that Hanzo is not harshly judged or criticized by his partner because he take this to heart and suffer a debilitating blow to their self-esteem. He knew by spending enough intimate/private time with Jack/Ryou to perceive such characteristics. And it was his way to solidify their relationship further, by admitting the candor, visceral truth of his words. 
M = Memory (What’s their favorite memory together?)
Their honeymoon for sure; and also their ‘arguments,’ or rather, deep, philosophical discussion in regards to Hanzo’s own trauma and how he functions in his modern verse. Because Hanzo considers Ryou as the sunshine through raindrops drowning his atmosphere with thickened clumps of clouds, the world which had gone imperviously dark will breach through a prism of light with their solidified relationship. Hanzo may hold Harumi in his heart as a hauntingly beautiful, a graveyard of feelings that would never satiate fully if he was truly honest with himself, but with his love with Ryou, Hanzo is truly moved on more than he ever has in the past, and healed enough to once again re-explore and get in touch with his jovial, humorous side. 
N = Nickel (Do they spoil? Do they buy the person they love everything?)
They are not the most materialistic people, but they definitely can indulge more in sharing experiences, than material goods. If they are material goods involved, they are always tasteful, aesthetically beautiful, with exemplary craftsmanship and practicality. They would take joint days off and go on a road trip, or fly to a foreign country if their interest matches. As they are well-respected experts in their respective fields, they make more than enough money to live more of a luxuriant life, but they do not like to splurge and be wasteful on things simply they want to fulfill their greed and avarice. They adopt kids, they may do charity work, and give things back to community often as well. 
O = Orange (What color reminds them of their other half?)
Hanzo thinks the color gold, or ki, is the symbol of the sun, and of the gods’ power and mercy befitting Jack/Ryou. Gold is often used at temples and shrines. Blue is also a color which represents purity and cleanliness in traditional Japanese culture, largely because of the vast stretches of blue water that surrounds the Japanese islands. As such, blue also represents calmness and stability. 
P = Pet names (What pet names do they use?)
Both in their verses do not hold high regards to pet names, for they may call each other ‘my beloved,’ or ‘my concern,’ or other much more respective and proper names. While Hanzo and Jack/Ryou know that pet names and nicknames are just meant to be ways to show a deeper bond, or some sort of private and intimate connection between each other, they are strictly reserved for private endeavors. In their modern verse, everything is off-limits; more intrusive and playfully degrading, the better, as they would hold no qualms of calling each other ‘dipshit’ and ‘fucktwat.’ 
Q = Quaint (What is their favorite non-modern thing?
They are warriors (ninja/samurai) held strictly in traditional Japanese upbringing. They would always find their inseparable and rudimental connection to nature has always being an important feature of their living space. This can be attributed to Japan’s Shinto and Buddhist beliefs, which have had a significant influence on its architecture. This can be clearly seen in the focus on natural light and the use of raw wood as a building material, both on the exterior and in the interior. Also, I see them immensely appreciating minimalist design. Unlike Western architects who have traditionally tried to make to make their buildings interesting to look at by adding unnecessary decorations and arranging modules of differing heights, Japanese architects focused on making their structures sublime and mysterious on a horizontal level. They would most likely prefer simplicity and appreciate buildings that have clear construction and transparency.
R = Rainy Day (What do they like to do on a rainy day?)
Either lounge in their shared bed, do a marathon of their favorite movies (most likely documentaries, historical dramas, thrillers, crime-related or even modern dramas and romance) while snacking on foods they made for one another (Hanzo finally gets to cook while Jack/Ryou is the one who often does the cooking during their weekdays - at least in their modern verse) and simply sensually exploring one another. They don’t require any over-the-top, grand gestures and acts to make one another happy and satiated. 
S = Sad (How do they cheer themselves/others up?)
Jack/Ryou may retreat inward and shut himself out from others when he feels extremely saddened. He will probably attempt to fix whatever problem is occurring that is making him feel this way. While he will work hard to make everyone happy and try to mend the harm that may have been done, seeking to fix everyone’s pain is how he would attempt to cope with sadness, as Hanzo is much more raw, visceral and exceedingly open with his emotions. While the best way for Hanzo to relieve his own sadness would also by retreating, but not doing it alone. And even without words of comfort and reassurance, Jack/Ryou’s presence alone will help Hanzo greatly. Having that special someone to make him feel loved and understood is the best way to heal and overcome whatever is bothering him. So in the end, I’d like to really think that they are made for one another. 
T = Talking (What do they like to talk about?)
Hanzo is generally private and gentle individual. He will usually feel uncomfortable if someone is too forceful, debative, or inquisitive of his personal life. He needs time to consider the details and reflect before making a decision (unless he is functioning out of his intuition and recklessly making decisions on his own), so being rushed to decide or respond quickly can frustrate him. While Hanzo generally isn’t interested in debating things or arguing because he dislikes conflict and also because he doesn’t see the point in debating theories that may have no real impact on his life, he rather enjoys discussing philosophical and fantastical concepts in conversations. They don’t necessarily have to be deadpan serious, nor their problems somehow magically solved, but repeatedly talking about his own traumas and anxiety out in the open serves as panacea, as Hanzo simply likes to engage in deep, lengthy conversations, only specifically and exclusively with Ryou. 
U = Unencumbered (What helps them relax?)

Hanzo enjoys a peaceful, serene life where he can live according to his moral convictions and make a real difference in the lives of the people that he loves. For both Hanzo and Ryou’s professions are highly stressful and they are workaholics who are highly involved, since they are altruistic, self-sacrificing and magnanimous almost to a fault. When Hanzo is stressed, however, his naturally easy-going nature can seem distant, withdrawn, even eroded to become crude and brutally rough and he could feel irritable and critical instead. They would simply stay put in their home, sensually exploring one another’s body and mind, enjoying the rarity of shared domestic bliss. 
V = Vaunt (What do they like to show off? What are they proud of?)
Hanzo doesn’t like being prideful in a negative way, instead he wants and strives to be someone others can connect with. Most often, he is kind and approachable, despite being steeled and assertive in his outward demeanor and composure, who loves being around likeminded people who understand and trust him. He doesn’t like being around others who are prideful in a more arrogant way, and who seem to push others away with their inability to be vulnerable.
W = Wedding (When, how, where do they propose?)
It was nothing grandeur and extravagant; as it was from their apartment, each of them getting one another a wedding band, matching one another’s skin tones (yellow gold for Hanzo, white gold for Ryou). As they prefer things to be minimalistic and simple with low-key and quiet wedding, it would regardless be a beauteous and solemn moment of declaration, as Hanzo would most likely ramble poetic nothings, and drown in surging emotions as he might shed a tear or two.

Y = Yes (Do they ever think of getting married/proposing?)
They are already married <3 They proposed on the same day, Hanzo beating out Ryou by a close margin. They have such great empathy and understanding towards one another, that they would be able to at least pinpoint the moment of one another’s reciprocated proposal. For Hanzo, ever since they started to live together and spend more intimate time to believe such improbable love he once thought would complicate things further with his past trauma just became simple; that Ryou Sakai would be his clarity and anchor that gravitates him towards the present and now, and near future, instead of his irreversible past and all of his accumulated despair and hopelessness, he knew then, almost immediately and instinctually that it was time to acknowledge it. 
Z = Zebra (If they wanted a pet, what would they get?
They’re not homebodies when they are fully occupied with their professional work (as Hanzo as an active SWAT Commander and an officer of the law will frequently travel around, and Ryou’s work could get extremely packed also with clients and liaisons from the FBI and the likes), having a cat or even a bird would be most likely than dogs. They are lower-maintenance and much easier to take of, especially cats.

Character | Olivia AKA Yamamoto Omi
What drew you to this character? |
Omi is a character I’ve eyeballed during my time at DV, but someone I’ve never quite had the nerve to apply for. But it is the qualities that I initially shied away from that have inspired me to apply for them this time around. Even upon searching the origin of Omi’s name, I was fascinated by the worldliness and elusiveness it implied about their character.  I came across two definitions, both of which I believe represented her character accurately:
1. OMI— magnificent; the sound of the universe
She is a walking contradiction— the product of love and violence— never truly lacking in either aspect within her lifetime. Maybe that is why she finally found community and comfort within Verona after venturing all over the world. As much as she might hate to admit, this very love and violence is what she’s comfortable with— it’s how she’s learned to thrive and survive. Though they never truly felt like themselves as they ventured around the world, they kept small pieces of each place they visited, all of which have made them into the Sparrow, the performer, that they are today. This is why I began viewing Omi as the sound of the universe. Vast and immeasurable, and not quite able to pinpoint to a single source. She is representative of an assembly of realities. She is never quite the same with each person she encounters, with them only receiving a snapshot or illustration of who she is, with the people she’s closest to receiving the most authentic parts of herself. To be a Sparrow is to participate— in Omi’s opinion— in one of the most precise crafts— an art form that only a select number can master. It is a performance, one in which they give their entirety to, oftentimes to the point that they sense themself slipping away, forgoing what they thought to be their true self and instead opting for the persona they have created. Somehow, being Omi the Sparrow is a far less difficult reality for her to face. What is expected of her is straightforward, her desires and fulfillment never changing very much. Omi the Sparrow always gets what she wants. Their heart is unbreakable, yet shared with everyone they encounter. The power and agency can be detected in her words, her mannerisms— she is completely sure of herself, and what she represents. But Omi— just plain Omi, questions herself constantly. She desires to be seen more than anything but is hesitant to show herself to another person. The weight of the secrets of others sometimes threatens to topple her over. What would their patrons think of their constant doubt? This was something they would never discover because she values her position more than she doubts herself. She loves luxury and security more than she questions who she is and who she’s become. She thrives in this simplistic power far more than she finds herself succumbing to it. And this leads me to what I love most about Omi. Her position allows her to wield a form of power that isn’t flashy or overt, or as obvious and clear cut as many people within the mob. It is subtle and it is dangerous. It is a power you least expect, which will certainly make her someone to look out for within the Verona. It is a power that she does not quite comprehend the magnitude and weight of as of now, but something I hope to develop over time.
What is a future plot idea you have in mind for the character? |
MONA— Their saving grace. There are seldom things Mona could do that would lessen the admiration that Omi holds for her, as this is the woman who they believed to have saved them, to introduce them to the boundless and limitless potential that they had. She did not introduce anything that was not there but instead nurtured the qualities that Omi already possessed for her to become one of the best, if not the best Sparrow that has glided through the various rooms and crannies of The Dark Lady thus far. Omi looks upon Mona as a big sister and is always aiming to please her, whether she recognizes that she’s actively doing so or not. But she is bound to cross her eventually— whether it is slight or monumental, and I believe Omi temporarily or permanently (dear lord idk if I could handle Mona not loving them pls sotkgoerkgose) falling from their grace would be an interesting concept to explore. So much of her existence is tied to Mona’s, and I think that it would take something like that occurring for her to recognize this. Who exactly would she be without Mona rescuing her? Would she have survived a day in the city without her? Having Omi deal with being without Mona would introduce some harsh truths. Could they truly rely on themself? Though she adamantly expresses her desire not to be possessed, is it that she truly enjoys being subjected to the whims of another person, so as long she is given the autonomy, luxury, and ability to wield some form of power? Would she simply be transferred from the hands of one power player to another, seeking out one of the mobs knowing they were the only other people who could give her what she truly desired?
FRIENDS ON THE OTHER SIDE— In the short time that Omi has spent in Verona, she’s acquired quite a few patrons from various walks of Veronesi royalty, but as much as she’s done her best to keep people at a distance, she’s also made a few friends. Chiko— whose hopes and dreams she’s carried with her since childhood— with them being one of the sole people to know Omi to near entirety. Felipe— the man who made her realize that even ghosts were capable of creating trouble for themselves, who she’d dared to offer real information about herself for whatever reason, finding something odd and compelling about the handsome enigma before her. Calina— their true match of wits, words, and worldliness— the person in which she’s entrusted with not just her fears and shortcomings, but her hopes and dreams, as well as them being that very person to set her heart aflutter. All of these people have something in common. In some shape or form, they are familiar with more than just Omi the Sparrow. I wonder what danger this could pose for her in the future. Would it be the person they are in essence that would land her in trouble? Chiko, the ruthless social climber, Felipe, who they knew trouble was always a short distance behind, and Calina, whose ties with the mob could only naturally come with trouble… couldn’t they? I want Omi to eventually land in some more trouble (maybe this could be something intertwined with my first plot, or potentially something entirely unrelated), and truly test how far she’s willing to go for the friendships she hopes to keep. Maybe it has to do with some information told to her in confidence; information she almost feels obligated to share with Mona. Will she refuse to do so, at the risk of the life and livelihood that she’s created for herself?
LOOSE ENDS— The past will always be the past for Omi— unless that past happened to make an appearance in the city of Verona. This isn’t something they would expect to occur, given that they have two dead parents, no siblings, or any known extended family. Maybe this would come in the form of Chiko— maybe some other unknown source would manage to dig up some sort of information to potentially be used against them. Regardless, I want Omi to be confronted with her past life, and for her to realize that the horror will always be apart of her, no matter how long that she’s attempted to evade it.

In The Dark Lady, Omi transformed into a blossom tinted mirror in which men and women alike looked upon in order to divest the realities they so desired. This functioned the similarity to a rose-tinted glass, their very persona the result of a thousand borrowed realities. In Omi, they sought the best version of themselves. They had the ability to morph into everything their patrons wanted, yet could not own, making them all the more desirable. There was something especially tantalizing about what appeared to be accessible, but ever so slightly out of a person’s reach. Even if the reality of things were that there was no chance in hell. Even if there had been a burgeoning disgust for each and every one of the wealthy, and corrupt person they encountered. Even if she’d been unable to scour away their caress no matter how many showers she subjected herself to in the early hours of the morning. How effortlessly she’d sold them a dream. How effortlessly they’d become enamored with The Dark Lady’s very own Japanese Cherry Blossom, a hand-picked artifact from Sakura to enjoy in their very own Verona. She bartered away a fantasy, and in exchange they fed her in secrets, each whisper only intensifying her power and allure. No amount of repulsion would change that they were damn good at their job. No amount of repulsion would change that she’d finally found where they’d belong.
They were notorious for their collection of extremely high heels, and rumor had it that not even a misstep had occurred in a single pair of them. Eyes danced over her as she glided into the casino, garnering an especially large crowd probably because of the fresh pixie cut she’d been sporting. Some days, Omi would linger, never quite sure whose attention she’d capture that day, but on other days, her presence had been requested by a specific patron. Today’s patron had been of particular importance. A well known Italian bureaucrat she’d actually managed to find rather endearing at times, despite her suspicion that he’d been spending more time with her than his own family. Nevermind that though. They had a sneaking suspicion that they were only moments away from stumbling upon a goldmine of information. They reckoned that this particular information could potentially make not just Mona, but both mobs particularly happy. Soon as they’d reached the Blackjack table, the patron, Patron E, swept her merrily into his arms, spinning her in place, resulting in her delighted laughter, clutching onto his shoulders to maintain her balance. Once he’d gotten his fill, she carefully placed a single kiss on each of his cheeks, taking in the scent of whiskey on his lips. No wonder he’d been especially playful. The whiskey had only begun their job for them. “Why, if it isn’t the most lovely person in all of Verona,” Patron E stated, grinning ear to ear. “I absolutely adored your old hair, bella, but with this cut, you somehow managed to become even more magnificent."
She smiles coyly, hands traveling down the lengths of his arms until meeting his hands, which he brought promptly to his lips for a kiss. "I was feeling spontaneous, E, but knowing you like it lifted a significant weight off my shoulder. Everyone else’s opinion be damned, but yours has always meant the world to me,” they coo in flawless Italian. “Is there anything else you noticed?"
His eyes drank her in hungrily, almost hungrier than usual, before returning to her eye level. "You’re wearing my good luck charm,” he responded with an almost childlike euphoria. Patron E had been referring to the deep V-Neck Dolce & Gabbana gown that had been purchased for her by another Patron of hers— Q— with the jet black of her hair only accentuating the Black sequins of the gown. She took it upon herself to take his hand and lift it above the both of them, completing a graceful, yet playful twirl to show off every sparkle and curve of the length of her body.
“Is that so?” she mused with her head tilted curiously on an axis. “It’s almost as if I wore especially for you, mio callo. You did tell me tonight was a big night for you, after all.”  His eyes twinkled gratefully as he pulled out a seat for her at the blackjack table, settling into the seat next to him, her body positioned perpendicularly to his, taking absolutely no interest in the game before them. It had been a game she’d witnessed by the side of many men before him and would witness many men after him. Her knees were pressed against his thigh, with the leg closest to the table occasionally finding itself absentmindedly caressing his own. One hand consistently remained attached his shoulder, with their other hand assisting them in the delivery of their sweet nothings, cupping his ear to whisper everything he’d ever wished to discover. Together they laughed, flirted, and whispered— he drank and she carefully sipped, until the game finally came to a close, with him losing per usual. After that, the pair of them moved to a more intimate section of The Dark Lady, the place in which Omi would officially make her move for the information she sought. There he sat on the couch, with her comfortably positioned horizontally in his lap, her slender legs coiled around her legs, with her hand absentmindedly stroking his hair. She’d been telling him some story she’d invented ages ago, half-truths tumbling effortlessly from her lips as she illustrated her last days in Sakura. Once she was done, she began studying his features intently.
“See anything you like?” he asks her quietly, and she cups his chin before deciding he’d been worthy of an answer.
“I see something I like, but something different,” she began with faux perplexion. “Even beneath this red light, I can sense the excitement almost vibrating off of you. “It suits you. I wish you were always this happy when you saw me. Far less tense than usual.”
“Now, Omi, you know I feel most like myself when I’m with you. You always receive the best parts of me,” he says seriously as his hand cups her wrist. “But, to tell you the truth, I’ve come across some very good fortune. A good fortune that I believe will alter the trajectory of my life. I’ve struck a life-changing deal.”
“That’s amazing! I couldn’t be happier for you!” she exclaims softly, before falling into a demure pout. “This… deal won’t take you away from me now, will it?”
He chuckles at her pout as if him parting from her would truly be the most unfortunate occurrence in her 30 years of life. “Don’t you worry your pretty little head about a thing, Tesoro. The deal I’ve made has allowed me to acquire a large sum of money. And I have no plans of parting from you anytime soon.”
She smiles gratefully, yet sadly as if she can’t believe it. He looks at her, searching for an answer to her sadness. “What is it, il mio amore? Why do you look so blue?”
At that moment— the slightest pang of sadness sped through her. How effortlessly he had succumbed to her charm, to the point that she’d almost felt bad for the fool. “Well… the way you aren’t giving much information about the deal is only forcing me to draw my own conclusions. Ones in which I can’t help but assume that you’ve been put in a dangerous predicament, which is stopping you from telling because you’re afraid to get me into trouble.” He drew her closely, placing a soft kiss on each of her temples, then her forehead, then her lips.
“I wouldn’t let them harm a hair on your head, Omi. I hope you know that I mean that.” She resisted chuckling. She’d been nearly divinely protected. If anything it was him who wouldn’t be able to harm a hair on her head.
“Is this them you speak of…” she looks around carefully, knowing there was no one near, but doing it as if to accentuate her supposed fear. “The government…?” she offers him, and when he does not react, she places a long, lacquered pinky nail upon her lip. “Don’t tell me you’ve gotten yourself mixed up with one of the mobs, E—”
“Mixed up with the mobs?” he interrupts with a haughty chuckle. “Why, they’ve gotten themselves mixed up with me, dearest Omi. Sooner rather than later, both the Capulets and the Montagues will be feeding out of the palm of my hand.” How drunk had the man had to have been to have confessed such a silly sentiment? Or was it not the liquor at all, and simply Omi bearing witness to the limitless bounds of the male ego? Probably a mixture of both.
She shoves his shoulder gently, feigning shock. “You’ve either done something insanely brilliant or incredibly stupid. But I’ve always known you to be far too clever for the latter.”
With each curious caress, they’d managed to extract more and more information from their subject, his ego centering itself above all else— even his desire to live. He had to have known that, hadn’t he? Or had he simply been too foolish to even consider the danger he’d been putting himself in by leaving every detail of his plan upon Omi’s lips? How foolish he had beenShe shoves his shoulder gently, feigning shock. “You’ve either done something insanely brilliant or incredibly stupid. But I’ve always known you to be far too clever for the latter.”
“Someday…” he slurs, faced resting comfortably on her chest as she stroked the top of his head, his arms wrapped lovingly around her waist. “I’m gonna whisk you away. And just like that, you’ll be mine. Forever and always.”
Omi chuckles at this sentiment— ones she’s heard nearly a dozen times before. She’d had no desire to be one of his pretty things, not by him or any other person in this world for that matter.
“Why, E— I know if that were to occur, you’d be doomed to break my heart.” “Omi, you can’t truly believe that now… can you?” he says tilting his head upwards until their lips are only mere inches apart.
“I’m afraid I do, mi caro. Because the moment in which the magic begins to dwindle from your eyes when you look at me is the moment my heart is sure to break. I know that if we continue our occasional rendezvous that I’ll continue to be the loveliest I could be in your eyes. Oh— and I’m a terribly loud snorer. You wouldn’t sleep a minute in my presence.”
That had been enough to satisfy him, if only for a single moment. The very thought of him truly breaking her heart had been absurd, but the very thought of the blossom mirror cracking, the idea of her carefully constructed persona being exposed for being exactly that, alarmed her. Anything short of near perfection was unacceptable. She owed her to that and Mona. It would be at that moment that Omi would understand that she was no longer as good at her job as she needed to be. Surely that would not leave them desolate, they would still be a top-performing Sparrow after all. But they would no longer be the best, and no man or woman would ever take that away from them. Even if they meant keeping the majority of the world at a safe distance. Not when they’d finally found their people. Not when they’d finally answered their calling. Not when Verona was finally starting to feel like home.
Little did she know that this would be the last time she’d ever see Patron E. Just as she’d suspected, the information had been of immense value. Her reputation as the top Sparrow only increased tenfold, and she remained in Mona’s good graces, never tiring of her constant praise and doting. Word of his death returned to them from another one of their patrons even before it appeared even in the papers. Omi couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness for his widow and children. No woman and family should have their livelihood threatened by the likes of a stupid, stupid, stupid man.
She did not wear Q’s dress after that day. When she asked about it the next time he saw her, she began whispering a delightful tale about how her suitcase had mysteriously wound up missing upon returning from a brief trip to Paris, knowing she’d wind up with a new one before the conversation concluded…

ISLAM 101: Muslim Beliefs: Knowledge of God Almighty: Asmaul Husna ( The Beautiful Names): THE ALL-BEAUTIFUL NAMES OF GOD Part 1
Since the time of the Last Messenger, upon him be peace and blessings, the All-Beautiful Names of God, exalted is His Majesty, have been a right-guiding source for knowing and recognizing the Divine Being in accordance with His Attributes of Majesty and Grace, and for protecting those who have been able to study and understand them correctly from straying, and for pouring forth true knowledge about the truth of Divinity to those who have been so protected. Everyone who has set off to acquire true knowledge of God has advanced toward deepening in belief in the bright light of the All-Beautiful Names and in their areas of manifestation. In pursuit of true knowledge and love of God Almighty and in pursuit of spiritual pleasures, they have given these Names into the hands of their outer and inner faculties, like so many mysterious keys that will open the doors of knowing Him in accordance with His “true Nature or Identity;” thus they have advanced toward the horizon of “seeing,” knowing, and experiencing Him in the light of the truth that radiates through these doors.
Even if from the earliest days of Islam the All-Beautiful Names have always been a pure source for those who want to have recourse to them for knowledge of God, they began to be studied and discussed systematically in later eras. So many books, brief or detailed, in prose or in verse, have been written about the All-Beautiful Names of God that it is not possible to determine them or to mention all of them. My following citations are only a drop in the ocean:
Tafsirul-Asma’il-Husna (“The Interpretation of the All Beautiful Names”) by Abu Ishaq az-Zajjaj,88
Al-Minhaj fi Shu‘abil-Iman (“The Highway Concerning the Branches of Faith”) by al-Halimi,89
Al-Asma’ wa’s-Sifat (“The Names and the Attributes”) by ‘Abdu’l-Qahir al-Baghdadi,90
Al-Maqsadu’l-Athna’ fi Sharhi Asma’illahi’l-Husna (“The Best Means in Explaining the All-Beautiful Names of God”) by Imam al-Ghazzali,91
Al-Amadu’l-Aqsa’ (“The Farthest Aim”) by Abu Bakr ibnu’l ‘Arabi,92
Lawa’mi‘ul-Bayyinat (“Rays of Clarifications”) by Fakhru’d Din ar-Razi,93
Among the All-Beautiful Names, those such as al-Quddus (The All-Holy and All-Pure), as-Salam (The Supreme Author of peace and salvation), al-Ahad(The Unique One of absolute Oneness), and al-Wahid (The One of absolute Unity) mark, like the Attributes of Exemption, the all-holiness, all-purity, and absolute uniqueness of the Divine Being. The all-glorious Names al-Hayy (the All-Living), al-‘Alim (the All-Knowing), as-Sami‘ (the All Hearing), al-Basir (the All-Seeing), al-Murid (the All-Willing), al Qadir (the All-Powerful), and al-Mutakallim (the All-Speaking) appear as translators of the Positive or Affirmative Attributes; the all sacred Names, such as al-Khaliq (the Creator), al-Mubdi (the All Initiating), al-Muhyi (the All-Reviving, the Giver of life), al-Mumit (The One Who causes to die), ar-Razzaq (the All-Providing), al Wahhab (the All-Bestowing), al-Ghaffar (the All-Forgiving), as Sattar (the All-Veiling), al-Bari (the All-Holy Creator), and al-Mu sawwir (the All-Fashioning) are indicative of the manifestations of the Attribute of Making Exist on different wavelengths.
Whatever truth of the Divine Essence the Names reflect and whatever Attribute they translate, all of the All-Beautiful Names of God are expressive of a different beauty, sacredness, sanctity, and perfection in the name of that All-Transcending Being. Whenever they are mentioned, they mark the limits of the truths for belief with their meanings, contents, and luminosity, they arouse respect in believing spirits, and cause the hearts that beat with respect to turn to God once again, more deeply. Every blessed Name Which is mentioned in awareness in the depths of one’s conscience removes the filth, soot, and rust from eyes and hearts, rips up the veils of corporeality, and shows spirits to the realms beyond and what lies further beyond. They remind us of the All-Sacred One to Whom they refer, as if they were our intercessors with Him; as long as people remember and mention God with these Names, hearts find contentment and rest. Furthermore, according to the rule, “The value of the knowledge is proportionate to what is known,” those who know these blessed Names with respect to the Divine Being and attain certain degrees of profundity through them are greatly valued by the inhabitants of the heavens and included in the candidates for the Divine Presence. If being a candidate for the Di- vine Presence depends on true knowledge of Him, then that All Majestic, All-Exalted Being can only be known with His Attributes of Majesty and Grace in the luminous atmosphere of these Names. We know things only according to the limited extent of our sensations of their corporeal beings, and judge them accordingly. But true knowledge about God Almighty with His all-transcending Existence can only be acquired by knowing the totality of all of His All-Beautiful Names; He can be known only beyond all modalities of quality and quantity. This reality also indicates that He is a Nec- essarily Existent Being Whose Existence is by Himself. This is what all Muslims believe.
Some scholars of Sufism and the Islamic creed have regarded the All-Beautiful Names as the foundation of the truths of the universe, things, and humanity. They have made a highly different in- terpretation of these Names, saying: “The truths of things consist in the Divine Names.” According to them, all things, as well as all the willful and “instinctive” acts of human beings and other be- ings—without ignoring the role of the free will in the acts of human beings—are only mirrors that reflect the manifestations of the Divine Names. Bodies are only assemblages of material particles and compounds, while the Divine Names are in effect the spirits that reside in them. As for the true nature of these manifestations and the All-Majestic, All-Exalted Divine Being Himself, before Whom the Names are veils, we should act in self-possession and remain in wonder, saying like the scholars of the Ahlu’s-Sunna: “God is completely different from whatever comes to your mind concerning Him,” or in the words of Imam ar-Rabbani: “God is beyond and further beyond whatever comes to your mind concerning Him.” Even though certain impulses that arise from feel- ings or fanciful attitudes, or, in the words of Imam al-Ghazzali, “the worldly reason or intellect” cloud our atmosphere of spirit and heart, we should try to remain within the limits of our creed, saying like Ziya Pasha:103 “Perception of such transcendent matters is not something for our incapable reason / For these scales cannot measure such a great load.”
If God Almighty had not introduced Himself to us with His All-Beautiful Names, we would never be able to comprehend the truth concerning these Names in what is going on in the universe or to know the All-Sacred Being Who is called by them. It is only through His making His Being, His Essential Characteristics, and His Attributes of Glory known that we are able to have knowledge of the truths that we know today, even though this is incomplete. It is our belief that the Names in question are the titles of His Being; as a result we try to acquire bits of knowledge about the truth of Divinity, voicing our requests at His door, which is open to all, and constantly observe these Names in hopeful expectation that our requests will certainly be answered, provided we submit to His judgments and commands. We believe that we can overcome our various troubles and ailments and be saved from our centuries-old problems by turning to Him, using these Names, each of Which has the effect of a different mysterious medication, as intercessors with Him.
We approach the All-Beautiful Names and understand them in accordance with whatever meaning they have in God’s sight and in the way the master of creation, upon him be the most perfect of blessings and peace, perceived and interpreted them. We regard opposing considerations as deviance in thought and belief. How can we think and act otherwise when the Qur’an tells us that the denial of the Names, whether explicitly or by way of misguided interpretations, or the attribution of them, with their meanings and contents that are unique to God, to others than God is heresy? Declar- ing, God—there is no deity save Him; His are the All-Beautiful Names (20:8), the Qur’an refers the whole of existence, including human kind and the universe with whatever occurs in it, to those All-Beautiful Names.
It is of great importance that every responsible person has recourse to the Divine Names so that they can have accurate knowledge of God and entreat Him properly and be able to establish a proper relationship with their Creator. We begin every good deed with His Names, and render every act of service under their supervision. We believe that any work done without having recourse to these will be fruitless. The Names Allah (God) andar-Rahman (the All-Merciful) are of particular importance and have a special place in the Divine Being’s sight. They are the first door through which we enter the clime of prayers and entreaties.
Even though some philosophers and the theologians influenced by them have put forward certain differing views about the All-Beautiful Names, as they have done for the Attributes, the scholars of the Ahlu’s-Sunna have always acted with care, sensitivity, and self-possession. Without going into detail or useless interpretations, they have maintained that the Names can be identical to or separate from the Divine Essence. It has sometimes happened that they have asserted in a moderate style that the Names are neither identical to nor separate from the Divine Essence, thus preferring to distance themselves from further discussion.
Some others among the Sufis have opined that the All-Beautiful Names, Which we know and recite, are in fact the titles of the real Names, while the truth of Names lies beyond them. They have approached the matter of the Names, saying like Yunus Emre:104 “There is Süleyman within Süleyman,” and asserted that there is a relation between the Names we know and the real Divine Names that are behind existence which is similar to the relation between the corporeal heart and the spiritual heart and that which exists between the spirit and the body. They have stressed that the real Names can only be realized through a profound spiritual experience and the ecstasy of feeling God’s holy Presence.
No matter what their true nature is, the All-Beautiful Names Which God Almighty has taught us in His manifest Book are each a mysterious key for a certain sort of relationship with Him in the heart and the spirit; through these we can traverse our distance from Him, advancing toward nearness to Him, something that we are aware of in our conscience. They are each a mysterious word which gives an answer when uttered. Those who possess these keys and regularly recite these luminous words are not left unanswered even when they attempt to purchase all the worlds, and are not turned back with empty hands when they become customers for the realms beyond.
Experiencing and knowing the All-Beautiful Names with their own depths is a Divine favor for God’s servants and a pleasure which will enrich their spirits, and in respect of their outer and inner senses or faculties, it is an awareness of “seeing,” knowing, and experiencing Him and of being seen and known by Him. Those who reach this horizon work for God’s sake, begin every task for God’s sake, and do whatever they do for God’s sake; in the words of Bediüzzaman, they can make the seconds of their life as fruitful as the years of other people by moving and stopping “for God,” “for God’s sake,” and “for the good pleasure of God.” Why should this not be possible, as the servants are His servants, the Names are His Names, it is He Who is called by these Names, and the door to which the servants turn is His door?
Some scholars have asserted that God’s Names are only those Which God and His Messenger have taught us as Divine Names, and it is not acceptable to derive Names from certain Divine Acts or to attribute them to God as being among His All-Beautiful Names. However, it is a fact that many Divine Acts are mentioned in the Qur’an in a way that will lead to different Names. Moreover, God Almighty has not taught us all of His Names. As our master, upon him be peace and blessings, stated in his prayer that begins with, “O God, I am Your servant, and the son of Your male servant, and the son of Your female servant,”105 in addition to the All-Beautiful Names Which are mentioned in the Qur’an and certain Prophetic sayings, God has Names Which He mentioned in the previous Divine Books or Which He particularly informed some of His servants about or Which He keeps concealed with Him. However, we cannot know any of His Names unless He teaches them to us. We can know only the Names Which He has taught us either in the Qur’an or in the Sunna. Abu Hurayra, may God be pleased with him, narrates 99 Divine Names from the noblest Prophet, upon him be peace and blessings.106 Even though these same Names are narrated from the Prophet by Salmanu’l-Farisi, ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas, ‘Abdul lah ibn ‘Umar, and Caliph ‘Ali, may God be pleased with them, these narrations have not been authenticated. Some assert that the number 99 was used as a symbol of multiplicity in the hadith relat ed by Abu Hurayra, therefore we cannot say that God’s All-Beautiful Names are restricted to 99.
Those who have maintained that the All-Beautiful Names are only those which we have been taught by the Qur’an and the Sunna do not deem it proper to attribute any other Names to God Al- mighty. Furthermore, they do not approve of mentioning God with any names that do not seem to be in keeping with the Qur’anic concept of Divinity when used singly. Therefore, they tend to mention such Names as the All-Requiting, the One Who gives harm, and the All-Constricting together with certain other Names, such as the All-Glorious with irresistible might and the All-Requiting, the One Who gives harm and benefit, the All-Constricting and the All-Expanding. Based on the fact that physical causes have been established as veils before the Divine Power’s involvement in insignificant-seeming affairs, it is possible to say that believers must always act in self-possession and with respect, care, and sensitivity with respect to how they approach the Divine Being. God is the Creator of everything, and therefore believers must mention Him as the Creator and avoid making specifications, such as the Creator of snakes or the Creator of vermin. However, we must also avoid going to the opposite extreme while taking care that anything improper for God should not be attributed to Him, and must not claim, like theMu‘talizis, that human beings are the creators of their deeds and God does not create evil or ugly things or events. For it is He Who creates both good and evil, and a thing or event is evil not with respect to its creation but with respect to its doer and cause. This attitude is required by both the necessity of considering God’s Attributes correctly and observing the decrees and effects of Divine Essential Characteristics, Attributes, and All-Beautiful Names. God is both the One of absolute grandeur and glory and the All-Merciful and All-Compassionate; He is both the All-Overwhelming and the All-Wise, both the One Severe in Punishment and the All-Patient (Whom no haste induces to rush into an action). He is both the All-Majestic and the All Gracious, and the All-Just and the All-Clement. We must always view Him in the light of the general meaning and content that is formed by the totality of His Attributes and Names.
The acts and designations attributed to God or mentioned in connection with Him must be considered from the perspective of His absolute Sacredness and Purity and His absolute exemption from any defect or resemblance to the created. For example, concepts such as making schemes, plotting, mocking, disgracing, or the like must be viewed and used in a style proper for the truth of Divinity and the essential characteristic of Divine Lordship. This is because respect for the Names and observing a style that is in keeping with God’s absolute exemption from any defect or resemblance means being respectful for the All-Sacred One Who is called by these Names. Not only should the All-Beautiful Names be considered with appreciation and without imputing any faults or defects to them, also the Divine acts and all works or creatures of the Lord, which are mirrors, results, and the arena of the manifestations of these Names, must be treated the same on account of their being indicators or witnesses of God Almighty. Those who right fully approach the matter from this perspective remind us of an important point: we must always be appreciative of Divine Acts, hold the Divine Names as being absolutely free from any defect, and exalt the All-Sacred Divine Being.
With respect to the level of existence of everything and as it is something that has been created, every being, every object speaks of Him in its own peculiar language and style. All creatures say in unison:
Our words differ, but Your Beauty is one; all of them indicate that All-Beautiful “Face.”
If a person can look at existence with their conscience and lend an ear to the messages of events, they will discern the reality expressed by Hodja Tahsin:
Contemplate the lines of the universe, for they are missives to you from the Highest Realm.
How can this reality not be discerned seeing that His Being is, in one sense, announced through the lines of the universe, and His Knowledge, Life, Power, and Will are voiced through them, that the manifestations of His Names of Glory are known through them on different wavelengths, and everything gives us great joy and happiness through the most delicate embroideries of the subtlest art, order and harmony they display?
I should point out once more that even though the most accurately narrated Tradition concerning the All-Beautiful Names is the one reported by Abu Hurayra, may God be pleased with him, according to the majority of scholars the Divine Names are not restricted to those mentioned in this Tradition. On the contrary, there are many other Divine Names that are mentioned in both the Qur’an and the Sunna, both explicitly and by allusion. The 99 blessed Names mentioned in the Tradition in question may have special importance in respect of prayers, entreaties, supplications, and particular instances of turning to God Almighty. For as mentioned above, there are other Names that certain other people have been informed of but Which have not been disclosed to everyone. The number of the Names Which are mentioned in the Qur’an and the books of the accurately related Prophetic Traditions in the forms of nouns, adjectives, and verbal nouns is as much as 550, and even reaches 1,000 in the Traditions related by members of the Prophet’s Family.
In some cultures, God Almighty is mentioned with the names or titles Which are not opposed to the Qur’anic concept of the Divine Being such as the One having no beginning, the Eternal in the past, the Eternal in the future, the Perpetual, the Everlasting, the Necessarily Existent Being, the Ever-Turner of hearts or the Ever Disposer of hearts. “Tanrı” in Turkish and “Huda” in Persian can be viewed as being Names in the same strain. However, the promise for entering Paradise in return for consideration of God’s Names seems to relate to the Tradition reported by Abu Hurayra. That is, it was promised that one would enter Paradise if they considered God’s Names that were mentioned in the Prophetic Tradition reported by Abu Hurayra. We refer the truth of the matter to God Almighty; we turn to the scholars of Hadith for what is meant by consideration. They understand from this the regular, heart-felt recitation of those Names and the illumination of one’s inner world through them, as well as being respectful for the concept of the Divine Being that arises from their totality, following the principles of good conduct they provide, and trying to be aware of the myster- ies of Divinity expressed by them.
All of the All-Beautiful Names are absolutely sacred. Some have regarded it impermissible to use some of these Names for others than God. These are Names like Allah (God), ar-Rahman (the All-Merciful), al-Quddus (The All-Holy and All-Pure), al Muhyi, (The Giver of life and All-Reviving), al-Mumit (The One Who causes to die), Maliku’l-Mulk (The Absolute Master of all dominion), Dhu’l-Jalali wa’l-Ikram (The One of Majesty and Grace), al-Akbar (The All-Great, the Greatest of all), al-‘A’la (The All-Exalted), al-Khaliq (The Creator), ‘Allamu’l-Ghuyub (The All Knowing of the whole of the Unseen), and so on. If people want to give these Names to their children then they should add the word ‘abd (servant) before them. For example, they must use ‘Ab dullah (God’s servant), ‘Abdur-Rahman (the servant of the All Merciful), and ‘Abdul-Quddus (the servant of the All-Holy and All Pure). This knowledge of the Divine Names and this approach to both the Divine Names and the truths of Divinity are unique to the Muslim Community. This approach is exceptionally important, particularly in respect of reflecting the difference between the Creator and the created correctly; this is required by the Divinity as well as by the fact that God is the absolutely and exclusively All Worshipped One. This is also our duty.
In fact, God’s Essential, Affirmative, and Figurative Attributes and His Attributes of Exemption confirm this truth and call us to this accurate approach. For this reason, in addition to knowing Him as the All-Knowing, the All-Living, the All-Powerful, the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing, the All-Willing, and the All Speaking, based on their Affirmative Attributes, we must also affirm His absolute freedom from whatever is inappropriate for Divinity such as impotence, poverty, neediness, defects, and having partners. Furthermore, we must in no way attribute any features that are peculiar to the created to God, such as being concerned with matter, time, space, physicality, or energy. We must believe that, in the words of Ibrahim Haqqi of Erzurum, God is an All Majestic, All-Exalted Being Who never eats or drinks, and Who is absolutely beyond time and space.

The Moon in a birth chart is symbolic of many things. It tells us about our most basic personality and habitual life patterns. It’s our instincts, our memory - where we are most comfortable. It represents our physical body as well as holding the key to our emotional well being.
In a child’s chart, the Moon is actually more important than the Sun sign for the first seven years of life. This is because children are more connected to their feelings, moods, and instinctual rhythms and haven’t yet learned how to incorporate the Sun sign into developing their higher personality. Children this young are still drawing heavily from their past life experiences, and the Moon, along with the Nodes of the Moon is most indicative of these experiences.
In a man’s chart the Moon tells us what he requires emotionally from a woman. In both sexes it tells us what is required for the individual to feel nurtured and gives insight into how that individual experienced his own mother. And for a woman it speaks volumes about the type of mother she has the potential to be as well has how she perceives motherhood.
What follows is a summary of how an individual will nurture others, as well as how he most easily feels nurtured and protected. Also included is a description of how each Moon sign may have perceived his mother. As always, please remember these summaries are general and may be colored heavily by the aspects in the individual chart to the Moon as well as other factors in the chart such as house placement of the Moon. If your Moon, for example, is in Taurus in the 9th house, you should read for both Taurus as well as Sagittarius because that is the sign naturally ruling the 9th house. You can get a deeper picture this way.
Once you learn some basic characteristics of your own Moon sign, or your child’s, my hope is that you will achieve a greater understanding of your emotional self, along with the emotional self inherent in those you love and nurture.
The Moon in Aries
You’re the type of mother who wants her children to achieve great things. Perhaps not the most patient of mothers, you can always be counted on for your honesty and your courage. You may not be home baking apple pie all day, but you are sure to be involved and active in your children’s lives. Others may call you spirited, and rightly so – you are never afraid of a challenge or to tread over new territory. You may see “red” when it comes to protecting and fighting for your children and never hesitate to be the warrior in their life.
You feel most nurtured when cultivating your strong, independent spirit. Being in a position of leadership is where you feel safe.
You probably perceived your mother as a strong, dominant figure in your life – perhaps sometimes pushy but definitely vibrant!
The Moon in Taurus
You are the eternal “earth mother”, and meeting your child’s needs is top priority. Patient and strong willed enough to follow through when it comes to the discipline involved in raising those little ones, your children will grow to see you as their rock. You are so steady in your nurturance, how can they resist leaning on you for support?
Despite being one of the most natural mothers in the zodiac, there is the chance you may not know how or when to let your children go. Possessive mothering may be your shadow.
You feel most nurtured when surrounded by creature comforts. I can see you now, sitting in your lush backyard on your garden swing, inhaling the delicate scents of nature after a light spring rain. The Moon in Gemini
You’re the mother who’s never home. The Moon in Virgo
You’re the type of mother who is always serving and taking care of others. Perhaps also working outside of the home, you are orderly, efficient, and attentive to the details necessary to run a smooth household. You have high standards and expectations for your children – and constantly strive to make them the best they can be.
Because you have perfectionist standards regarding your own mothering ability, you can sometimes be too hard on yourself. You may also be a bit hypochondriac concerning your children’s health – perhaps even jumping at the slightest sniffle.
And yet, because you are self-contained, you teach your children the value of self-sufficiency and because you are so analytical, your children will learn to appreciate the details in life. The Moon in Libra
Libra Moon mothers are often the family peacemakers. Family harmony is of the utmost importance to you and those sibling rivalry squabbles between your children can drive you crazy! You may romanticize motherhood in some way and over pamper your children as well, but you are charming, calm and unsurpassed in teaching your children social etiquette.
You feel most nurtured when you are respected for your judgment, acknowledged for your fairness, and above all listened to!
You experienced your mother as somewhat over pleasing to everyone in her life to avoid conflict – perhaps even a pushover. She was however, very loving and emotionally vested in her children.
The Moon in Scorpio
You are intense! This Moon placement often signifies a deep emotional nature that is difficult for others to read – you simply won’t allow access. As a mother it could translate into you always knowing what is going on in your child’s mind. You may be two steps ahead of them – no one can fool you.
Your children will learn great emotional strength from you and you teach them the value of inner strength and fortitude. Your shadow may be in your need to control your children too much and perhaps even manipulate them emotionally (this may even be unconscious).
You won’t feel nurtured until you learn to trust and this is often a very difficult lesson for Scorpio Moon. The Moon in Sagittarius
You’re a fun mom – no two ways about it! You understand the value of children playing, yet at the same time have an unsurpassed love of knowledge for its own sake and you’re eager to pass this love onto your children. An eternal optimist, you teach your children the value of believing in themselves and having faith in the world as well as a higher power. You love to travel and may travel often with your little ones!
You may however, have such a great need for your own freedom, that it creates difficulty in your mothering – especially during those early years when the little ones are always with you. Yes it’s easy for you to let your children go, and encourage them to attain their own independence bur be aware that this must happen when they are ready for it – not when you are.
You feel most nurtured when allowed to roam about and this is why motherhood can sometimes be difficult to balance for you. During the times you feel your freedom is restricted, you can nurture yourself in other ways: perhaps by learning about a subject matter that helps you answer some of your deep, philosophical questions about the universe. You also feel nurtured when acknowledged for your wisdom, so teaching your children anything will give you great comfort.
You perceived your own mother as adventurous and fun as well as spiritual and philosophical. She always had questions – and she didn’t stop searching until she found the answers.
The Moon in Capricorn
You are certainly serious about mothering! Practical and no-nonsense in your approach, you take your role as an authority figure to a level some other Moon signs can never attain. You’re a hard worker and your children will grow to look up to, and admire you in many ways. You are sure to raise children that understand the importance and value of responsibility and self-sufficiency.
The shadow here is that you may have little patience for the childish antics, and sometimes miss out on your child’s need for love and companionship because you are too busy fulfilling your “responsibilities” as a mother – which are, of course, never-ending.
You may also be prone to depression or pessimistic thinking, perhaps having even experienced restrictions or limitations in your ability to mother in some way.

You probably experienced your mother as somewhat restricting – perhaps she suffered from depression or had restrictive life experiences during your upbringing. She was a hard worker and responsible, able to wait for life’s rewards and certainly not afraid to earn them.
The Moon in Aquarius
You're not the typical soccer mom – that’s for sure! Maybe you’re not "weird", but you are unusual in some way. Definitely liberated and not one to be “barefoot and pregnant”, you will teach your children the value of independent thinking, freedom and your children may grow to see you as more of a friend than the usual, mother type.
Because you are ahead of your time, you open up a world of possibilities for your children that more traditional moms haven’t even considered. Your cool, emotional detachment doesn’t mean you can’t express love for your children (although it may be an issue), but it does mean you inherently value your child as an individual and aren’t caught up in children being an extension of yourself. Since smothering is so detestable to your character, your shadow may lie in recognizing that children do need to be treated like children from time to time – they aren’t miniature adults!

The Moon in Pisces
You are a sensitive mother, absorbing your child’s every emotion and wound. This is the most emotional placement of the moon and while your compassion for your children is unsurpassed, there is the possibility that you are over sensitive and take things too personally. You may fall into the victim or martyr role, depending on the rest of the chart and your children are either born to be saved by you, or to save you. You are mystic and often psychically sensitive as well with a rich imagination so you are usually creating wonderful bedtime stories for your children, or games of make believe in some fantasy world. The shadow lies in your ability to actually come out of this world and take on the real responsibilities of motherhood that are more practical.

The Hero Archetype
The Jungian archetypes, developed by Swiss psychologist Carl Jung, theorized that everyone shared instinctive patterns and universal characters (Fordham, 2020). After reading about each of these archetypes, and completing a questionnaire to determine if I am living any of them, I found myself connecting the most with the Hero archetype - establishing that the Hero’s role and characteristics actually play a huge part in driving my actions and forming the foundation to my beliefs. 
The Story
When you analyze the narrative of the Hero throughout stories, films, and real life, the progression of the hero story line follows similar characteristics  - they start off as just another person (not the hero yet), finds themselves in circumstances that begins to challenge everything they are and believes to be through multiple trials and tribulations (Jeffrey, 2018). However, the end of the story typically results in success and closure with some gain of tremendous spiritual and mental value. Why the Hero?
I was initially drawn to the Hero archetype because of how prevalent the Hero role was in modern storytelling and film, and then it dawned on me how easy it was to relate the story and feel like I was living it. Growing up, movie nights at the cinema with the family were the days I looked forward to the most. On these days, pulling up to the parking lot already had me drooling over the popcorn we would always get, waiting in line had me anticipating the next superhero movie I had always begged to watch, and sitting in those big (at the time, for my size) comfortable movie seats ensured my eyes were always glue to the screen from the beginning of the movie to the end. Marvel movies were my favourite - and still are - because of the wins that always resulted by the end of the movie, the will to save humanity and those who couldn’t help themselves, and the pure fact that it was badass. Whether it was Iron Man, Spiderman, or Black Widow, I would always leave the theatre talking to my own version of J.A.R.V.I.S., pretending to shoot webs from my wrists, or believing that I could grow up to be a world-class spy. 
So from the young age of 5, I started fantasizing of what it would be like to be the hero. Being a child who loved to live in my own fantasies, I always thought about how cool it was if when the day would come where I would wake up with my own powers. I was convinced it would happen and no one could convince me otherwise. Needless to say, however, that day never came. I came to possess the ability to shoot webs from my wrists, superhuman strength, or some type of badass, superhuman anything. And yet, growing up, I still realized that the need to be the hero and living the hero story still very much exists inside of me. I am drawn to this archetype because, aside from the fantasy world these movies take place in, the ability to be the hero is not absent from my life.

The Hero in Me

To me, being the hero is about making a difference, standing up for myself and others, being someone that others can count on, and holding firm on the beliefs and values that drive me as an individual. Although my life may not replicate the storylines in the superhero movies that I love so much, the hero in me exists in her own way. Younger me always felt like just one-in-seven-billion, but the support of my family (pictured) made me believe that there was more to life than just feeling like I should merely fit in. Since I was old enough to have dreams for myself, my parents have always told me that I could reach for the stars if I wanted to. They taught me resilience, never giving up, and being a kind person which, in my opinion, are all qualities of the type of hero I am capable of being. Like the supportive people my parents were to me, I try to emulate that same help and support to those who I am fortunate enough to have in my life. Being a hero to me today means doing everything I can, when given the opportunity, to help those who might need the extra hand and to grow into the best version of myself that I can be when putting my best foot forward. 
One specific role I play that particularly makes me feel like a hero is the fact that I am a big sister. With an age gap of nine years, the best part of my brother and I’s relationship is the fact that I can support him through all of the different emotional and life stages that I have already experienced for myself.  No matter if it’s high school math, friendship/relationship problems, or just a pure bad day, knowing that I can be the person my brother can consistently count on and go to means the world to me.
The Caveat
The hero is a lot of great things but like everything else requires the balancing of the good and bad sides of many traits. Although persistent, eager, and confident, the Hero can evolve to be arrogant if not kept humble or reminded of the primary purpose for their actions. My tendency to always feel like I can “fix” everything has, on multiple occasions, resulted in my failure to complete or excel at anything at all. Sometimes, I have taken on too much than I can handle at work because I failed to evaluate how much bandwidth I had. Similarly, sometimes I have worried too much for other people and failed to leave enough time to dedicate to myself. As a result, it is necessary to not lose sight of why a task was important to take on in the first place and maybe even knowing when to give up when it might be needed. I ask myself:  Am I putting myself out there because I can, or just because I want to?

The biggest display of heroism are the acts I see other people do as a means to help those who cannot help themselves. If you took some time to observe others in the world, it can be amazing what you might realize about our humankind. Some of us have a voice, some of us don’t. Some of us are capable of helping, and some of us need that extra helping hand sometimes. While life may not be a story of the destroying of mythical villains to save humankind, it is the story of ridding of our own demons that hold us back from being kind to one another. Fundamentally, we all start in the same place, but our own life journey and story can be written to be whatever we’d like it to be. We all have shared dreams we want to attain: to be the best version of ourselves, to be able to be depended on by others, and to support the ones that we love and care for. But in between these fundamentals is finding the drive and passion that pushes us through the monumental moments of our lives in order to do so. Everyone’s hero story is different - some are fuelled by the unquenchable thirst for success, some are fuelled by the ever-growing need to help others, and some are fuelled by the combination of both. No matter what it is, being a hero is not something that is unattainable, but rather a something that anyone can, and should, strive to be.

There is little published material, it seems, which deals with the subject clearly. It is usually the case that Sexual Magic is shrouded (sometimes "drowned") in symbolic asides and allusions. To begin with, what actually constitutes an act of Sexual Magic? A broad definition is: that it is the harnessing of one’s own sexuality with intentionality - literally "Love Under Will", to bring about change. This implies a great deal more than the waving of rods, wands, cups, and roses. Celibacy, as a conscious decision not to be sexually active can be as much an act of Sexual Magic as any ritualised copulation or masturbation. The basis of Sexual Magic is to understand, and experience sexuality as sacred or "Magical". Sexuality is probably the most powerful means of transformation, discovery and knowledge that Humanity has. This is why sexuality is effectively put under 'lock and key' by our Society. The Judeo-Christian attitude to sexuality has become "embedded" in the cultural psyche, to the extent that many of us feel that sexual expression is "naturally" followed by shame and guilt. For orthodox Christianity, sexuality can never be entirely sinless, even within the confines of marriage. The onset of the "Permissive Society" is supposed to have freed us from past constraints and inhibitions, but has it? Sexuality has become another brand of commodity, another source of status. Although we tend to regard our own sexual natures in terms of privacy and "naturalness", it is subject to a great deal of interference and manipulation from external agents. There is a media-borne cultural imperative that we must be good at sex; that success is dependant on the number of orgasms that we can wring from our partners, or indeed from the number of partners we have. For many of us, sexuality is a major means of gaining status and Egocentric power, associated with imposing ones will upon others. The key factor in Rape for example, appears to be that of the male demonstrating his power over another person (woman or weaker male). Society acts to channel sexual energy into acceptable forms - those which maintain alienation; channels such as Sentimental Romanticism and Pornography. More powerful and invasive than any medieval incubi are the neuroses, obsessions and acts of violence which seem to be the inevitable spawn of this Sexual Nihilism. A characteristic of this profoundly Egocentric sexuality is that ones partner is regarded as little more than an instrument to satisfy ones own needs (be they physical or status needs). Human emotions are alienated in the scramble for consumer gratification; in goods, wealth, success, and the conquering of each others orifices. These cultural imperatives, to be successful and goal-oriented in every area of Life, are so deeply embedded that we only tend to notice the most obvious manifestations of them - with regard to work, for example. They can easily pass unnoticed in the very personal domain in which we place our own sexuality, and equally importantly, our sense of "Spirituality". As a result of the cult~ral emphasis placed on goal-orientation, a good deal of what passes for Western Occultism is also goal-oriented. Western Sexual Magic is no exception. There is a tendency to regard Sexual Magic as merely a 'better' way to acquire goods, "powers" or wealth, and there is great emphasis placed on the necessity of visualisation, inhibition of orgasm and mental concentration, rather than bodily awareness and pleasure. This seems to be a rather clinical and narrow approach to sexual potential- as Zach Cox put it (in Aquarian Arrow 22) "like using a microprocessor chip as a doorstop". Part of the problem that Western Sexual Magic suffers from is the enshrinement of the ideas of Aleister Crowley, who is often held up as a paragon of the 'new sexuality.’ However, Pansexuality such as Crowley displayed does not automatically imply total sexual liberation. Though a great innovator and synthesist, Crowley was unable to disentangle himself from the prevailing sexual mores of his time. His sexual philosophy displays a typical (and enduring) dualistic attitude towards women, placing his "idealised" women on a pedestal, yet seemingly unable to accept women as equals. Examples of his Egocentricity are not hard to find: "At about 8.45pm I was on 34th St & Broadway, looking for a soul-mate, a destined bride, an affinity, a counterpartal ego etc.; and should have considered the conditions satisfied by any orifice into which I could plunge my penis at a cost not exceeding $2.50". Although the bulk of his writing is set towards the task of producing a sexual metaphysic based on the "occult" properties of menstruation, it seems to be distant from women in that there are many references about women as the Priestess or Suvasini - but almost nothing from women themselves on this subject. The focus of this issue of "suitability" is couched wholly, it seems, in terms or occult metaphysics. Nowhere is it mentioned that it is beneficial for all concerned to be working on their own sexual/emotional conditioning, or that empathic sensitivity to, and even understanding of ones partners needs and feelings could be paramount. It is these ordinary, Human qualities that are lost in the vast symbolic metastructures that Grant erects. One has the feeling that those who are not party to the ramifications of these "secrets" are not worth considering in terms of degrees of initiation Initiatory experience in areas of life other than the occult does not seem to matter Given this attitude, it does not seem likely that "Priestesses", at least in the way Grant seems to be depicting them, will "re-emerge", since women seem to be tacitly excluded from assuming a coequal role with males, as it is the latter who have erected the metasystem in the first place: "As it is we can but preserve the formula, confident that the present magical revival will discover genuine Priestesses to serve our mass." Aleister Crowley & the Hidden God. Given the current developments in male and female consciousness, it is more likely that the "Priestesses" are already out there waiting for us men to get our act together! It does seem to be a feature of male-oriented Magic that the emphasis is upon building these heavily intellectual metasystems, which are removed from 'everyday reality'. In contrast to this, "Women’s Mysteries" seem to revolve around aspects of daily experience - birth, sexuality, creation, nurturing, menstruation and Death. It appears that "High Magic" is largely concerned with acting within an abstract "inner-space" that has few points of contact with the consciousness of daily experience. I feel that this distinction should be emphasised, as the whole character of Magic is changing. There is a movement away from it being a kind of developmental process which is seen purely in occult terms, that has nothing in common with other spheres of life This traditional attitude is being supplanted by the idea of Magic as a fully integrative process of self-transformation. There has been a rekindling of the power of Magic in making connections, in communicating with, guiding, healing, and "reaching out" to one another, rather than an entirely personal inner-initiation. As 'the general emphasis of Magic changes, so too has there been a shift in attitudes regarding Sexual Magic. Intimations of this shift can be discerned in the writings of Dion Fortune. Her influence upon developing Western Sexual Magic comes from her novels, rather than from her non-fictional output. The underlying theme in her works, especially The Sea Priestess and Moon Magic concerns the intense consummation achieved by the partnership between a man who is in some way "wounded" and a woman who, to further her own Magical intent, takes on the role of the initiatrix. The Priestess "Vivien Morgan" chooses her partner, initiates him and then withdraws. Fortunes writing displays levels of feeling; of intuition and cycles which was absent in the writings of her male contemporaries.
