The kitchen is decorated with nineteenth-century blue and white Dutch tiles and a set of copper pans. The ceramic cheese-making jug in the foreground was made by Stephen Pearce, a potter from County Cork.

protip: if you’re having trouble getting enough fruits or vitamin C in you diet for whatever reason (don’t like the texture of tangerines or orange slices, not enough room in the fridge for a bottle of orange juice, can’t make yourself take supplements, keep buying fruit and them forgetting to eat it before it goes bad, etc.), or just feel like your budget doesn’t allow for flavorful enough of foods, get some limes.
cut them into slices, squeeze a slice into your soda. put a few in a pitcher of cold water and make an infusion. eating tacos? squeeze a lime in the taco for a little extra zest. cooking fish or chicken? squeeze some lime on it.
it’ll make you feel so fancy despite that fact that limes are like $0.40 a pop (possibly cheaper if you buy a big ol bag of em), so it’s super affordable, and they keep better than a lot of other fruits like bananas or apples. they’re also very easy to cut into slices (they’re the perfect size to cut in half twice)
and the lime-water infusion can also help if you’re having difficulty making yourself drink water. two birds, one stone

Googootrops
This article is part of our Japanese Obscurities feature. We put out a whole book about them, which is available as both a full color hardcover and a Kindle ebook from Amazon! If you’d like to see more of these features, please check out the book and if you enjoyed it, leave a five star review so we can do a follow up with even more interesting, offbeat, or historically important Japanese games!
Googootrops, a possible play on the Paranthropus genus, is conceptually similar to Artdink’s Tail of the Sun. Like that game, Googootrops has you hunting mammoths, but in this case, you’re looking for a particularly special one called the “Boss Boss Mammoth”, which has the best tasting meat in the world. Instead of toughing it out on your own, you get to build a team of up to six cavepeople and micromanage them to success. It’s an ambitious, truly unusual game, but it requires extreme patience to deal with its many quirks.
