I can tell their whole rant is not worth reading by the fact that
:they canât properly see that Hinata was NOT the one said âBe at peace!â It was Neji.
If you canât read the notes I made, everytime when Neji or Hinata speaks, the speech bubble either has a little pointer at him or her. Even if the panel shows Hinata, it doesnât mean sheâs the one saying it. Two, even if itâs a translation, it does not make sense for Hinata to sayâBut you need not suffer any more. Be at peace! But youâre wrong cousin NejiâŠI can see it now even more than meâŠâ does it now?? Like canât you figure out that contextually it sounds weird!
The other points that they make sound like âGuys, well yes she did experience abuse but IT WASNT THAT BADđ
đ
GUYS she smiled like two times so IT WASNT BAD AT ALL GUYSđ
đ
đ
trauma is bad đ
đ
but well assume she doesnât have itđđđbecause it serves my personal narrativeâșïžâșïžâșïžâșïžâ
But I as a Neji Stan, should be the bigger person here and actually logically explain to the ENTIRE SEVEN HUNDRED NOTES that Hinata neither conformed to system, or fought the system.
The hate Neji fans have towards Hinata (idk if OP is a Neji fan so scratch that, any fan in particular) comes mainly from his death as a side branch and we all hate that, im gonna agree with you there. But I think the entire thing got twisted to the point where everyone has this misguided narrative that âNeji actually tried to fight the Hyuuga system whereas Hinata didnât, sheâs a privileged princess that took advantage of Neji.â Which, itâs totally wrong because truthfully? Neither of them did. Well yes Neji mightâve made Hiashi acknowledge him but that was ALSO because 1) Hiashi felt a responsibility to his late twin brother. 2)It is constantly repeated that Naruto had a huge impact as well. So it wasnât just the effort of a young fourteen year old no matter how much of a genius he mightâve been. Later in Shippuden we never see Neji against the clan, in fact, in SD, in Ninja Storm (I think) Neji is always portrayed to be prideful of his herritage no matter the shitfuckery that goes on and even if heâs a side branch in the eyes of the clan, he keeps it as a badge of honour and status to anyone else. And one can argue that him being against the clan but also prideful of it can exist as two mutually exclusive truths , yes. But they also canât. We donât see Neji actually challenge the system again, because the writing doesnât allow for the Hyuuga subplot to develop, plain and simple.
Now everyone will agree with me on this paragraph, why canât anyone agree that the same exact case IS for Hinata and pull out the dumbest shit from the asses to justify this twisted vision that they have of Neji and Hinata.
Now I got sidetracked a bit so im coming back to OP post and some interesting points that they made.
-She did have a carefree childhood thanks to her friends and teachers. The last words are what people should focus on. The happiness she mightâve felt during her childhood does not clash with the battered relationship she had with her father. Now according to Naruto Shinden: Parent and child day, Hinata could only remember the smell of blood and kunai. She as trained from day 1 to be a clan head. Thats exploitation, abuse, both physical and mental . Even if she doesnât piss herself from fear seeing him, itâs sure as hell mentioned that Hinata still dreads him from underneath. All the good things happened outside of her home. She did experience trauma. Her behaviour as a âweirdoâ at first, and everything I said in the above paragraph is TRAUMA. You canât zig zag your reasoning trying to question her every step. That is TRAUMA, point blank period.
And then the all famous as the OP quoted: âIt's correct to point out what she had to go through, surely having such enormous pressure on her shoulders at such young age and not being able to deliver is harsh on everyone, but pointing out her position as a victim is often done either to dismiss her implication and endorsement on her clan's slavery system and/or to downplay Neji's own experiences with the abuse of the Main Family. Not only did he have to endure a similar type (meaning: worse) of degradation from Hiashi, but also had to experience the threat of physical torture and/or murder shall he disobey, something that Hinata canonically never was hinted to suffer from.â End quote.
Itâs the all famous Struggle Olympic no jutsu!!!!!đđđđđđ„°đ„°đ„°đ„°đđđ
As I mentioned above, Hinata did suffer from physical abuse. Even if itâs in the guise of training, thatâs things she did not have a good experience to say the very least.
I think we keep downplaying the fact that Hinata got kidnapped by foreign ninjas way too fucking much. They would a) murder her b) train her to be a weapon and pair of binoculars c) rape her (shes young then, but what if they kept her for more years?) to get Byakugan individuals afterwards
By using the Hyuuga affair example:
You donât endorse the Hyuuga system by defending Hinata, along with Hizashi and Neji that have been quite literally the actual victims from start to finish of the entire Hyuuga affair.
Most important point: Donât compare the suffering of two charachters!!! âOh Neji has had it more difficult than Hinat therefore I reject the validity of all her struggles!!!â
Neji ACTUALLY recognising her pain (I want to discuss about this in a separate post but just keeping this here for now), he actually says heâ to be at peace â, he does say that as well in the anime (although worded differently cause interpretation and translation and all of that)
Itâs true that Hinata has not experienced what Neji has, but that doesnât mean she hasnât been abused by a clan that glamourises power and birthright status over anything else. Why is it so necessary to compare them in this way, rather than capture their differences and nuances in actual meaningful way.
First point of the last point: The Hyuugas system was never mentioned or properly addressed in shippuden (not filler episodes) LET ALONE BORUTO. We canât conclude whether they actually abolished the system, but neither can we claim that they didnât. The Hyuugas are only mentioned as a âchanged clanâ and Hiashi âa changed manâ so the abolishment does happen in some way.
Second point of the last point: We have absolutely no clue of how the seal is practiced or applied. The only thing we know is that Hizashi got it as the younger twin. That doesnât mean that itâs the standard practice used to decide who gets the seal and who doesnât. The reason is that it is never even mentioned, the seal itself is barely brought up after the chuunin exam.
Also on an interesting note: somebody pointed out that since Hiashi and Hizashi were twins, both had the automatic right to be clan head no matter who was born earlier (this according to inheritance law I donât have enlightenment of) hence the seal was used to settle the place of the clan head beforehand. I think itâs a pretty solid and logical reasoning which also proves the point of what I said above.
I know it sucks for Kishimoto to end it this way without putting an end, but thatâs basically what happens.
Idk if Iâve put my thoughts well into this, but to conclude this entire post: itâs the writing, not the charachter. That goes for both Neji and Hinata.
Shyness, a scapegoat.
Or, Hinata endorses slavery -but she's cute so who cares?
Thereâs something quite incredible that happens with Hinata as a character and her loyal stans who fiercely defend her actions. There're a few things to point out about this particular topic and I can't start anywhere but on the main reason as to why she's left off the hook.
Let's establish this: Personality traits aren't synonyms for someone's ideology.
Let me expand on this: Hinata is shy, mostly quiet, and superficially "nice" to the people around her -therefore, her mannerisms clash with (or rather, disguises/downplays) her actions and/or what she supports. No one denies Hinata is soft-spoken, yet she downplayed the psychological and emotional trauma that Hizashi's torture at the hands of her father brought on Neji, putting herself as a victim of the same level as her cousin (the "be at peace" line she says during the preliminary rounds become particularly malicious when you have this specific context, because how could Neji be at peace with his role after such cruelty?)
Over and over, her stans use two specific arguments to defend her behavior, so I shall try to break them down:
1- âShe was disowned and/or was too young to do anythingâ: While both of these statements are true, particularly in the first part when this issue is introduced, and Iâm sure many anti-fans complain about her inaction, the fact that the only thing pro-fans take for âactionâ is to specifically stand (meaning, rebel) against Hiashi is very telling of their bias.
Hinata taking a stand against the slavery of her clan is just as easy as showing uneasiness with the situation (something she did not, never, at any point), or understanding Nejiâs resentment. Instead, she acknowledges Nejiâs anger only to quickly brush it off: paraphrasing, it will be something along the lines, âOh, youâre annoyed because youâre a slave, you should get over it because I had it rough tooâ -the fact that she canonically knows the problem it presents to enslave people (let's remember: she witnessed her father torturing Hizashi as to "remind him" of his place), yet believes it to be something to âbe at peace withâ, itâs the thing weâre pointing out when saying she endorses her family's, let's call it, tradition.
However, Itâs not only with Neji HyĂŒga with whom she displays no discomfort about their situation, the same happens with her interaction with Ko HyĂŒga during Painâs arc; he expressively tells her he will be "never forgiven" (implying that he will be punished) should she get injured; yet, despite knowing this, she jumps in to âsaveâ Naruto, fully aware of her incapacity to fight someone who literally destroyed Konoha by himself and not caring about Koâs destiny at the hands of the Main Branch. [If this doesn't show how Hinata is, quite literally, not even minimally capable to be a commander in any single spectrum of the title, then I don't know what will. She's literally prioritizing her own feelings and/or desires over the lives of those under her command. It's true that she's not the heir of the HyĂŒga clan during this time, yet she's still in a superior position.}
In regard to this specific argument her stans use in her favor, letâs add something else to question it: Ko would have been punished non-other than Hiashi and Hanabi Hyuga, he specifically mentions both of them; which means that her sister, who is five years younger -eleven/twelve years old at this Arcâs time- acknowledges her position and the branch family members' (lower) place and takes immediate action over that difference. So either Hinata's [young] age has nothing to do with her (in)action on the matter of her family's enslavement practices, or Hinata isn't even as smart as Hanabi to understand how her clan works. So under this premise, she's either endorsing slavery or incredibly moronic, your choice.
[And to those who might want to use the "she knows how her clan works, she just never wanted to use her privilege to hurt lower members": There's not a single panel to support this. Not a single one. Furthermore, Ko's situation and her speech to Neji during the ChĂŒnin Exams point out she did nothing on the matter because she simply didn't care about them, too preoccupied with Naruto and feeling sorry for herself for not being acknowledged the way Hanabi was. Hinata is, simply, bad at fighting. She isn't squandering her potential for her sister's benefit, she is, simply put, bad.]
The argument âHanabi and Hinata were raised differentlyâ has no hold other than in fandom mentality, for they differed at the beginning simply on their training:
Source
Hiashi trained Hanabi whilst Hinata trained with Kurenai, but that only seemed to happen after her graduation as gënin, for all we know, and for what is pointed out in Hanabi's entrance in the First Databook, Hinata was raised as the Hyuga heir until her first graduation when she proved to be not in the standards expected for an heir her age. Even back then, Hanabi wasn't "officially" Hiashi's successor.
2- âShe was afraid of Hiashi since he was/is her abuserâ. While itâs true that Hiashi downgraded her and psychologically mistreated her when constantly demoting her value and, in exchange, raising Hanabiâs, there are few things to say about this:
a- Itâs established in the Databook that she had a pleasant childhood, and while having carefree infancy doesn't exactly contradicts the idea of Hiashi being verbally abusive to her, it does clash with the idea of her being absolutely (that is, completely) scared of him rather than sad for the degradation.
Source
b- The relationship between Hinata and Hiashi dramatically changed during the second part of the manga (after the ChĂŒnin Exams, sheâs seen smiling and bringing tea to both Hiashi and Neji), to the point where even when âdisownedâ she got no Cage Bird Seal (meaning, she still was part of the main family and therefore still possessed the privileges that came with it) and how Hiashi, even when away, went out of his way to ensure her safety (such as forcing Ko to protect her). To claim that she was âstill afraidâ of her father when thereâs not only a single indication of her uneasiness but thereâre quite obvious displays of their good-terms relationship itâs grasping at straws to defend something that doesn't exist. And while it's true that trauma can't be easily overcome, there's no indication of Hinata experiencing such a thing (claiming "internal struggle" is not a valid counterargument because, while plausible, is not canonically established during the second part of the manga).
c- Itâs correct to point out what she had to go through, surely having such enormous pressure on her shoulders at such young age and not being able to deliver is harsh on everyone, but pointing out her position as a victim is often done either to dismiss her implication and endorsement on her clanâs slavery system and/or to downplay Nejiâs own experiences with the abuse of the Main Family. Not only did he have to endure a similar type (meaning: worse) of degradation from Hiashi, but also had to experience the threat of physical torture and/or murder shall he disobey, something that Hinata canonically never was hinted to suffer from.
It could be reasonable to spare Hinata from any responsibility on the matter during the first part (I, personally, since she displayed enough knowledge about the matter and what it entailed, donât think so), but during Shippuden -when sheâs not young anymore by shinobi standards and her relationship with Hiashi is shown to be better, the arguments in her favor collapse completely.
Are we forgetting that those who see abuse/harassment and do nothing about it might as well be endorsing it?
To simply claim âoh, well, the real villain is Hiashi because heâs the one actually enslaving peopleâ without taking into account those who are in power and decide not to intervene (every single Hokage, including now Kakashi and Naruto, who changed nothing), and those who know what the system entails yet also display no discomfort/do nothing (Hinata might not have âreal powerâ but she still is part of the Main Family and keeps quiet when she could easily reach to her sister and speak about her discomfort with the matter), itâs simply looking at the superficial reflections of the issue -instead of taking care of the roots.
And truthfully, the fact that somehow Hiashi is the villain for enslaving his people (as Iâve said, they put the entire weight of the Hyuga clanâs problems solely over his shoulders despite the existence of a political system that supports him), yet his words during the war are taken by Hinata's stans as inexorably proof of the change that apparently her (alongside Neji) brought itâs quite⊠striking, to say the least. More considering that he was a character already proven to lie/hide important truths from (cadet) clan members before.
In addition, the Branch Family still possesses the Cage Bird Seal, while the main branch doesnât: which means that, first, thereâs still a distinction between both families that goes beyond political positions inside Konoha and goes into a physical difference: ones are marked while others arenât -and second, whether Hiashi still performs torture or not doesnât deny the quite real possibility of him re-incurring in such behavior, the threat of physical violence still stands for the branch family.
Taking care of the seal is also a task quite easy to do, should they truly want to take care of it, Iâll put here some ways to resolve it at the top of my mind:
1. Thereâs no canon proof nor mention that the Cage Bird Seal canât be removed. Neji states that the seal disappears when those with the mark die, yet, he might not know if it can truly be erased or not, since with that knowledge many branch members might seek freedom.
2. Even if we take Nejiâs words as truthful, and we believe the Seal canât be removed, thereâs absolutely no evidence to state that the seal canât be counteracted by another seal (a technique similar to the one Orochimaru used against Minatoâs seal).
3. The main family could easily get the seal so the Byakugan gets sealed when any member dies and the threat of someone torturing another member through it gets ânullifiedâ.
Nothing of this is shown in the manga nor brought up by these individuals.
Source
Why is Naruto claiming this, if the Hyuga changed already? It's true that he was away for a long time, but are the changes Hiashi spoke about so little or subtle that Naruto wasn't able to see them during the duration of Shippuden? Which character are we calling a liar then, Hiashi, or Naruto?
And Iâll add this here, for good measure: Hinata might as well be endorsing slavery (she is, in fact, canonically endorsing it), and it will be fine from the narrativeâs point of view because the manga ended with these issues not only not resolved, but accepted as the âlesser of all evilsâ; the problem here are her stans trying to save her from the implications of condoning such actions -when thereâs no substance for their claims.
She either agrees with the Hyuga practices or she doesnât, in this specific case, thereâs no middle, no gray areas, because even ignoring the matter (despite knowing its existence), makes her an accomplice. You can still like her and very much enjoy her, but that doesnât mean sheâs free from problematic characterizations, as every single character introduced by Kishimoto. Edit to add: I received long ago an interesting ask that said: "You want Hinata, after everything she got through, to get the Seal?" and while that wasn't my point it further proves my point of view: if her stans are aware of what being marked implicates why are they looking the other way when it comes to the branch family situation? Why are they specifically ignoring Hinata's very purposefully dismissal of the matter? Why is Hinata the only character who needs to be spared? Her stans excuse Hinata's inaction because she was "too young", but condemn Neji, who's just a year older, for lashing out at her because "she's shy and nice" without minding his background and how Hinata is the embodiment of the Main Family that tortures him and he loathes.
Hinata's background allows us to understand where she comes from and why she's the way she is, yet it does not justify her behavior.
Context is for understanding, not condoning.

For me, there is a lot of significance on why Hinata addresses Neji as âolder brotherâ. Figuring that out, completely demolishes any attempt to argue that Hinata is comfortable with the slave system in the Hyugas.
And it isnât just to get âcloser to himâ or because sheâs just so âkind and warmâ. Well, she is kind and warm and gentle and loves her brother and her sister. But that honorific alone crosses the bounds of it.
In every culture the elders hold importance and respect, but this especially goes in East Asian culture, particularly rooted in Confucianism. In Japan, it is also known as senpai-kohai (senior-junior). As its name suggests, it describes hierarchical structures, the younger must respect the elder and the elder must guide the younger. This works mainly in institutions and social groups (-san, -sama, -chan, -kun etc) , but this moral code more or less, has naturally reflected into homes and families as well. But even without mentioning senpai-kohai, weâre all pretty much informed about how in Japan, there are honorifics used for elders, how âyou should listen to your elders.â Again, this isnât just exclusive to Japan or Asia, so not only we are knowledgeable in it, we also relate to it to some degree.
We know hierarchy is an already established tradition within the Hyugas. Hiashi became the head just because he was minutes older than Hizashi, not to mention the main and the branch family themselves is based on, maybe a little more complicated than age differences, but still is based on one.
What this all means, is that Hinata isnât just referring Neji as an actual family member rather than a servant. Hinata is giving him a degree of authority over her to him. She, a member of the main family, is putting him,a member of the branch family, above her in some way, hence the honorific she uses. Hinata, my insane girl, does not give a shit đđđ«¶
We donât have any other proof whether younger main members refer to older branch members with honorifics. Another testimony is Hanabi who also refers Neji as older brother, however itâs not a strong antithesis as firstly, this was done in a filler episode (390, Naruto shippuden) Secondly, even if the filler episode holds validity, Hanabi is then again, Hinatas younger sister which has most likely influenced her to address Neji the same way. Additionally, main branch members lead the lower with fear (the caged bird curse), in heavy contrast with Hinatas anti confrontational nature. I doubt thereâs anyone else who does the same thing as Hinata and possibly Hanabi.
I donât think this is a bare minimum in any way, I think for a girl who has never had a choice , is a hell of a way to express disapproval with what is happening and itâs really a shame Kishimoto just dumped it aside or off screened the development of Neji, Hinata, Hanabi and the Hyugas in general.
PS: My view and my interpretation of senpai kohai isnât entirely correct but rather on what Iâve read and observed. This is based over my opinion and I would love to hear yours!!!

Let's look at Infinite Tsukuyomi dreams once again:
and see how it's clearly shows Hinata is a really sh*tty person
Worth to mention - this is their perfect world, this is how they wished it to be. No limits, no restrictions, everything is possible.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let's see how they want the world to be:
Gaaras dream:
His parents are ALIVE AND HAPPY. His siblings are with their parents and they are all a close, cute family.
Lee and TenTen:
Lee wants to fight with Neji/Naruto and win, but Neji wanted to fight with Lee and we know they were sparring frequently.
So in Lee's perfect life, he and Neji are still happy with the only difference being - Lee finally won. Sakura is in love with Lee, but she is still herself. She is doing what she is always doing - being loud and happy, SHE IS HERSELF.
TenTen is standing with Neji and doing what they are always doing - judging Lee and Guy
So in TenTen's perfect world - Neji is alive and they are all (weird) happy family like they were before.
Choji, Shikamaru and Ino:
Chiji found love and his father is proud of him. Nice, self-explanatory.
Shikamaru is watching 2 couples (Kurenai x Asuma and Shikamarus father and mother) while doing what he loves - complaining. Asuma is ALIVE and meeting his child, Shikaku is ALIVE and with the woman he loves - Shikamaru's mother.
So in Shikamaru's perfect world, they are all the same people with their loved ones. Shikamaru is complaining and happy to see them together.
Ino is with Sai and Sasuke who are fighting for her and her father is happy and proud of her AND ALIVE. Sasuke and Sai are fighting for Ino but look! They are not blushing, not doing anything OOC, they are themselves but in love with Ino.
So in Ino's perfect world, she is popular (with two guys she is attracted to), her father is happy and proud of her.
NOW TO THE SELFISH TEAM:
Kiba and Shino:
They are both successful, Kiba is the Hokage and Shino found a new species. Not much to add there.
But then, CrĂšme de la crĂšme, this b*tch Hinata:
In Hinata's dream, she is with Naruto (no surprises) and Neji is alive, but is it? Let's break this down:
Naruto is not Naruto. He is quiet, just sitting there. Naruto, the child with SO MUCH ENERGY he cannot stand in one place, just sitting. Naruto the child WHO SPEAKS SO MUCH is just quiet.
In Lee dream - Sakura is in love with him BUT SHE IS ACTING LIKE SAKURA, SHE IS SAKURA.
In Ino's dream - Sasuke and Sai are fighting over Ino, BUT THEY ARE THEMSELVES. They act like themselves. THEY ARE THEMSELVES.
Everyone who dreams of someone imagine them as they are. Sakura is Sakura, Sasuke and Sai are themselves. Even Temari speaking her one word in Shikamarus dream IS TEMARI. She speaks like she usually do when they are together.
But Naruto in Hinatas mind? Quiet. Stagnant. She could have imagined him as himself as a talkative, over-energized, NARUTO, but no. Quiet.
But that's less infuriating - more just annoying.
Now to the infuriating part.
WTF NEJI.
Why is he annoyed? Why in Hinata's perfect dream - Neji is mad and stalking her? Why in a world when they can be friends, when Neji can be proud of her (like fathers in Ino's or Choji's) she imagined him as unhappy?
And why is he spying on her? Why is he not happily with her, or with his friends OR HIS FATHER, but he is just sitting in the bushes and stalking Hinata?
That's again, not Neji, people who imagined the opposite of Neji saw him like Hinata wanted him in her dream.
Look at Road to ninja, a movie when they are THEIR OPPOSITES. What is Neji doing? Stalking Hinata and getting angry. Wow, would you look at this.
(And yes, that's a filler movie, and no I don't like studio pierrot, but COME ON, WHAT THEY IMAGIN AS THE OPPOSITE OF NEJI IS WHAT HINATA WANTED NEJI TO BE)
SHE COULD HAVE IMAGINED HYUGA CLAN BEING FIXED, MAIN AND SIDE BRANCH HAPPY TOGETHER.
But no, let's imagine that everything is like it is, Neji is still her slave (even after his death - she still imagine him as a slave, propably with his curse mark), he is spying on her and unhappy with it :)
Why dream of change, when you can be with your crush (who acts like a completely different person) and still having your slave, but in this world - he is stalking you! Yeey....
I can't, I can't with that character, every chance she gets to do the right thing - she keeps on proving how s*it of a person she is...
Who *Should* Have Died From The Konoha ~12 Instead Of The One Who Did
rules:
weâre assuming they die under the same circumstances as the other guy
each one listed would have a complete storyline and their death would further the immediate plot as well as the overall narrative
iâm not âjust picking characters i donât likeâ
i do not condone killing characters for the sake of shock value but am considering shock as a legitimate tool in generating impact of a characterâs death
miss me with â[redacted]âs death was a tragic result of the shinobi systemâ because no it was not. if that were true you could sub out [redacted] for any other child soldier and get the exact same impact. we know exactly why they were chosen and itâs got an (insufficient) explanation irl and in-universe.
#3. Sai
Motivation: Friendship
First of all, imagine the shock value from killing one of THE Team Kakashi members.
Cool. Now imagine Narutoâs shock at Sai sacrificing himself for him.
Sai overanalyzes normal human interaction to the point of not understanding it. He reads books about how to befriend people. He still doesnât understand it all the time but friendship is coming more naturally to him these days. What he does understand is that Naruto is the only chance of winning this war, and heâs down, and the enemy is aiming for him, and Hinata is trying to stop them but sheâs on the ground, the spears are in the air and so is Sai, and Naruto is his friend.
He doesnât need to think about it much deeper than that.
Now imagine Sasuke âWhat Does âFriendâ Mean To Youâ Uchiha witnessing this, witnessing Narutoâs reaction, and the further effects this may have on his character. After all, Sai was his replacement. If Naruto feels this strongly about losing someone who was decidedly not him but his friend and teammate nevertheless then⊠maybe.
#2. Rock Lee
Motivation: Youth
Regardless of *how* this one plays out, no one wants to watch the determined, precious, comedic relief die; no one whoâs watched this far into the show wants Rock Lee specifically to die. Huge impact already. But we can make it super duper sad because he deserves a memorable death. I see it going one of two ways.
One: Hinata doesnât even have the time to try to shield Naruto because Rock Lee is faster. Ten-Tails barely launches the attack and Leeâs already taken/attempted to counter the hit. Perhaps this is his eight gates moment. Similar to Sai, Rock Lee would cite the power of friendship in his dramatic death speech, but he also was just⊠doing his duty. Truly, if youâre in the âNeji was just another tragic child soldierâ camp, Rock Lee is the prime example of what I mean when I say you could sub in any child soldier, which I know sounds paradoxical but stay with me. Rock Leeâs entire personality is training harder than anyone else to benefit a system that will ultimately result in his death. If you want to make a point about child soldiers and needless lives lost, Rock Lee is the one to kill.
Two: Rock Lee doesnât shield Hinata. He shields Neji. But not necessarily on purpose. The scene plays out exactly as written up to the moment Neji activates his byakugan, and the next frame isnât him falling to the ground, itâs Rock Lee. The usually-somewhat-reserved Neji is devastated, probably in tears, demanding to know why he would do something like this. Rock Lee coughs up a bit of blood. âI was faster than you.â Smile. âI finally beat youâŠâ Serene eyes fall shut. ââŠrival.â
And now imagine Narutoâs reaction to losing Bushy Brow. Imagine him watching Gai be brought to his knees by a blow that didnât physically touch him. Imagine Madara incorrectly perceiving that. The implications. The foreshadowing.
#1. Shino
Motivation: Legacy
Iâm gonna be real, the writers were never gonna kill off Rock Lee like that, which is the biggest reason Shino has taken the crown as Most Worthy Of A Tragic Death in my book.
This dude has a connection to both Naruto and Hinata (making him equally as good a sacrifice as Neji if thatâs the canon criteria). However, unlike most other (male) characters, Shino isnât shown to have a particularly close friendship with Naruto. The one recurring joke around Shino is that heâs so irrelevant even Naruto canât remember his name.
But he is good friends with Hinata. And he knows sheâll spend the rest of her life miserable if Naruto dies, and that if she dies right now she will never have gotten her lifeâs greatest wish.
So Shino goes out in a blaze of glory, and weâll probably insert something about how Naruto has somehow secretly inspired him all alongâ or maybe something cynical about how he always wanted to be included by Naruto but never was unless Kiba or Hinata were around, so heâs sacrificed himself to maintain the livelihood of everyone else while not âlosingâ that friendship himselfâ and we of course get the touching moment with Hinata (oh just imagine the drama if Shino lay dying and told Hinata âWhy did I protect you? Itâs simple. The reason is⊠for the same reason you protected him.â and we find out that the huge secret crush of the show was not Hinata toward anyone, but Shino toward Hinata, never confessing because he knew it would be futile).
Good luck forgetting his name now, Naruto. Now no one will ever forget about Shino Aburame.
The Hyugas are fucking pathetic it is so funny to me. They have a total of 5 named characters there, and only 1 of them is likeable.
They are "so great at Taijutsu" when there is like one guy that actually won a fight with it.
They put a seal jutsus on people that aren't in the Main Branch and they do nothing about it.
They claimed to be the most powerful Clan in Konoha, when there like 4 different clans that could wipe their ass with them.
An average Uchiha could beat like half of their asses because at least the basic Sharingan doesn't just let them see chakra.
They have this glaring issue is that if you attacked them from behind, like at the middle, they can't fucking see it.
And when one of them actually want to be a full 3 dimensional character with actual flaws and ideal ideas, they kill him off for a shitty ship that have great total of 5 scenes in canon and so that he doesn't laugh his ass off when he realizes that he was correct about his idea about destiny.
Could not have been me.
to be a naruto villain is to transcend your fate. the protagonist is supposed to fix you but the writer doesnt know what to do with you. the fandom eats up the sanitized versions of you, while reviling the you that had agency and whose voice said something true and beautiful. you are free. you are trapped by the narrative. the real you died with talk no jutsu, killed by an act of god. you are functionally frozen in time, and thus immortal
Yeah you favorite character may have died, but they weren't a super powerful and interesting character that got wasted and forgotten by the narrative to then appear again and die to a piece of wood because the author wanted to develop a couple in an ACTION SERIES
I am not saying that Hinata was to blame for the crimes of her father or the barbaric traditions of her clan and the leaders who allowed it. She was just a child after all.
But the double standards are infuriating. Any other child in that exam would have been allowed to die or to be seriously wounded under their watch.
Also, see the tolerance Konoha has for inhuman practices inside the Hyuga clan while they spread propaganda about the Uchiha being a cursed clan dominated by hatred. I guess you can enforce whatever brutality you want within your domains as long as you remain obedient to the political powers and don't challenge them.
I reuse the tags of the previous poster because I am too lazy to make my own. I hope this is not against Tumblr etiquette.
amazed at how people still criticize kishimoto because the "hyĂŒga clan's system doesn't make any sense" over the fact that ko hyĂŒga is from the main family but not hizashi. the whole plot point of the hyĂŒga's organization is that it doesn't make sense as it's a system based on oppression rather than the byakugan's protection, as that notion is a mere smoke screen with which it presents itself in order to seem necessary, which makes it paradoxical at its core. people in power decide who gets the seal and who doesn't based on what benefits them the most: hiashi never put hinata on a seal despite that being the practice before (at least, in hiashi and hizashi's case); therefore, he (or the former leader) likely benefited from having ko hyĂŒga inside the main branch, so that's where he was allowed to exist.
"âŠSo you claim Hinata had no consideration for life of anyone other than Naruto... and then use a screenshot from the manga of her literally showing consideration for the wellbeing of someone who isn't Naruto."
Considering how things went after Neji vs Naruto, chances are that things changed in the Hyuuga family for those other than just Neji. Even if not, Hinata risking her life =/= a lack of consideration for anyone's life other than Naruto's, despite consequences. Or are you saying youâve never done anything without carefully considering every single possible consequence first?
But hey⊠"Tell me you didnât read my ask properly without telling me you didnât read my ask properly".
"Or are you saying you've never done anything without carefully considering every single possible consequence first?"
First of all, sure, everyone did, but not necessarily when the consequences are:
1) you will just get in a way of a battle and be a great inconvenience instead of helping
(of which she was aware of)
2) getting your guard punished/possibly killed
3) you hurting the person you are supposed to "help" (I'm not gonna repeat myself, you can read it here)
4) you dying for no reason
5) if you somehow don't get killed, you becoming a burden to medics who could devote their time to people who did help or got hurt by ricochet of the attack.
Second of all, you are putting it in a way that implies that Hinata did that only once, and you are wrong.
At some point of someone consistently doing the same thing you have to admit they either do that maliciously or that they are plain stupid.
I'm just gonna bring a few examples (that I talked about before over and over, but I'll do that again, especially for you)
Shimamaru: almost died
Hinata: "But I want to stay beside Naruto too"
Does she care? No. Naruto-kun. That's all she cares about.
But maybe that's because they weren't too close, because who cares about a person from your class that is your comrade in war, he's not Naruto-kun.
How about her own teammate BEING CARRIED OUT BY MEDICS?
The oiment Hinata has is more important for Naruto-kun, who is completely fine.
Who cares about Kiba, he is just being taken by medical team, but he can be an afterthought, they are just teammates after all.
How about her family?
Neji, who will be punished for hurting her (because, as you recognize YOURSELF, it's before Naruto vs Neji fight, so the punishment WILL BE THERE), who asked her TIME AND TIME again to just give up. Why will he do that, huh? Maybe because he had known what happened TO HIS FATHER FOR JUST THINKING ABOUT HER IN A BAD WAY.
Anyway, how about making Neji hurt her, then provoking him by RUBBING IT IN HIS FACE THAT HE IS BELLOW HER?
Neji just said (again) that she should give up and stop the suffering, she just casually mentions that he is "lost and suffering" because he's not in the main family.
(And before you say it was nice of her, NEJI AND THEREFORE MANGA showed us he didn't appreciate it, and the guard also saw that Neji was provoked and WAS ABOUT TO CHARGE AT HER FOR THAT COMMENT)
But ok, maybe they weren't close enough of a family, so it was acceptable to provoke him and get him to be punished, because you know...
Naruto-kun is watching, so...
How about closer family? How about her own sister?
(Now, I don't like to quote the movies because I prefer to base my opinion on canon manga only, but you, Hinata Fans, love it, so let's go)
(Credit to whoever made it, I can't find the original)
Hanabi was just kidnapped, but Hinatas mind is occupied, because well... Naruto-kun đ„ș
BUT OK, MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, THEY DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH OF A BOND BETWEEN THEM TO CARE.
Let's look at the person who took care of her for her whole life, her guard, her family, let's look at Ko:
Oh wait, we have already seen it.
It doesn't matter who it is, if it's her comrade, friend, teammate, cousin, sister, guard. If that person is not Naruto-kun, their life or well being is irrelevant to Hinata.
She cares about Naruto, that's it. Nothing else and noone else matters.
Do you understand?
So back to the beginning:
At some point of someone consistently doing the same thing you have to either admit they do that maliciously or that they are plain stupid and when it comes to LIFE OF OTHER PEOPLE I'll say that it either way makes you a bad person đ€·ââïž
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, in conclusion:
I did read your ask, I just assumed (and that is my mistake, I apologize) that if you are protecting Hinata, you shoud know first thing about her, but not only you didn't read the manga, you didn't even read the parts that had Hinata in it.
So, please, first read at LEAST chapters that have Hinata in them, before you speak (It's not a lot, she is a background character after all) or I'm not gonna answer to you again, because I'm tired of repeating myself for a 1000th time.

You are a brain dead bitch,who deserves to be raped to death.
âSakura is a horrible person for making fun of Naruto for being an orphanâ
Let's see what other characters did when they were the same age as Sakura
Naruto :
Disguised himself into Sasuke to kiss Sakura without her consent
Mocked Sasuke's dead clan
Ino :
Fat-shamed Choji even though he's made it clear multiple times he hates being called fat
Neji :
Humiliated Hinata, who already had low self esteem, in front of everyone
Attempted to kill her to punish her for something which wasn't her fault
Shikamaru :
Unapologetically misogynist and generalised all women
Sasuke :
Tried to kill his best friend in the name of power
Funny how all these characters were of Sakura's age did something as equally bad as her or worse yet only Sakura gets shit for it. Hypocrisy?
They were kids, who were naive and didn't have the maturity to act the wisest (in Sakura, Naruto, Ino and Shikamaru's case) or traumatised with no one to properly help them (in Sasuke's and Neji's case) and all of them eventually grew up and became better.
It's ridiculous to still hold Sakura for saying something insensitive in her childhood.
Bonus :
She immediately regrets after Sasuke calls her out but y'all probably don't remember it.

Me towards 99% of characters in Naruto: I hate all of you. You all terrible characters that is shocking that you even have fans in the first place.
Me towards Sasuke, Fugaku, Mikoto, Madara, Obito, Neji, Killer B, Rock Lee, Might Guy and Team Taka: Except you guys. You all are bby and deserved to be loved. Here, a lolipop.
