Opinion on the names of the Potter children
{RANT}
So, I hate the original names for Harry and Ginny's children, Jk Rowling really fucked up with the names (she fucked up a lot of things). So, I want to show the changes I would make to the names and why. Please note, I'm not really a Harry Potter fan of any sort, I've never really been a part of this fandom, so take everything I say with a grain of salt.
James Sirius Potter - Altair Sirius Potter - - - I don't have any qualms with his middle name being Sirius, as it is obvious that Harry and Sirius were close and Harry would obviously want to honour his godfather. However, I'm not a fan of his first name being James, due to the fact that Harry's middle name is already James, so his father has already been honoured through Harry himself. Also, I'm not a fan of children's first names being the names of other relatives, as it takes away their individuality as a person and in this case, makes the character less recognizable, as you have to say the middle name for people to recognize who you are talking about. So, I've chosen to name him Altair, because Altair is the name of a constellation and means "flying eagle", suggesting he is free spirited, already giving the audience an image of his character. It also further honours Sirius as his name is also a constellation.
Lily Luna Potter - Diana Lily Potter - - - Let's start with her middle name. Luna, nothing wrong with the name. I've heard people say it is supposed to represent Remus, due to the moon association, which I think is sweet, but has some issues with it. There is already a character called Luna, and when I first read the book I thought that is who the child was named after. Also, again, same thing as before with her first name, I get Harry wanting to honour his mother, but I don't think it should be her first name. I think Lily should be her middle name instead, so Harry still gets to honour his mother while also not taking the child's individuality as a character. I've chosen her first name to be Diana for several reasons: Diana means divine and was the name of a Roman goddess of many areas, one being the moon. So, we still have that moon correlation for Remus while also giving the child a unique name to represent her to the audience.
Albus Severus Potter - Anthony ???? Potter - - - This one is a lot, which is why I left it for last. This kid's name has a lot of problems. Both his first name and middle name are the names of other people. Also, why would Harry and Ginny ever give their child the middle name Severus? What, because he was secretly protecting Harry? Ignoring the fact that he was an absolute prick to Harry every time he had the chance, along with mistreating and basically bullying many of Harry's classmates (eg. Neville). He was unnecessarily cruel to literal children due to his own issues, and despite his last minute sacrifice, I don't believe he deserves to have a child named after him. Also, Albus. While the name itself is nice, I know a lot of the fandom hates Dumbledore due to how he withholds things that could have assisted in ending both Wizarding wars faster and because of the way he used the people around him for his own gain. However, we should take into consideration that Harry probably wouldn't realise this, and Albus' mistreatment is nowhere near as outward as Severus' was, so maybe Harry would want to respect and honour the greatest wizard of his time by naming his child after him. So, the child's name, first name I chose to be Anthony because it means "priceless one", which I think helps build up this child to be of importance to the audience for when he becomes the next main character in Cursed child (I know nothing about cursed child, mind you). Also, again, it makes him stand out by having his own unique name, which is important for characters, especially a main character. However, I'm unsure of his middle name. On one hand, it could just be Albus, as I have said before that Harry would most likely want to honour the greatest wizard who he most likely thought was like a mentor to him, someone to look up to during his time at Hogwarts. However, I also would like to remind you that Ginny is also the mother of this child, wouldn't she maybe want to also honour someone she holds close herself. Like, maybe her own father (I know he's not dead)? I would say her brother Fred, but I think there is already a child named after Fred, the child of George, although I am not sure. Or do you think that she would agree to the name Albus, since she most likely also saw Dumbledore as a powerful wizard who protected them and was worthy of respect. Maybe there are other people that Harry and Ginny held close that they would want to respect, friends or family they've lost over the years.
I would say name him after Remus, but along with their daughter's name being a correlation to him, I would imagine Harry would want to keep this name to Teddy Jr, since Remus had been his father.
Do you have any suggestions or opinions? Maybe different ideas for names of these characters?

I always love a good Ginny runs into the Petunia fic and this has gotta be one of the best. Perfect responses all around by Ginny.
For @hinnyfest, prompt #8 - Ginny vs Dursley
***
“I saw your Aunt today,” splutters Ginny the moment that the door of the kitchen closes behind Al.
The pot that Harry was drying slips off his grip and falls to the floor; the sound echoes painfully in his ear.
“Did you?” He asks in a nonchalant voice, bending down to grab the pot.
“Yeah, when we were down at London to pick James’ birthday present.”
“So the kids—”
“Al and Lily were with me,” she confirms. Something claws inside Harry, until “I didn’t let them meet her.”
Relief floods him suddenly; he remembers being Lily’s age, waking up from a nightmare and receiving only a cold stare. But Harry is over this, he is, so he just asks: “Why not?”
“I didn’t like the way she was looking at them.” She takes the pot from his hand to store it away.
“As if they were freaks?” Asks Harry in a faint voice.
Ginny glares at him fiercely. “Only if she wanted to get punched in the middle of the street. No—she was looking as if she were seeing a ghost.”
“Two, probably,” mumbles Harry. He knows what Aunt Petunia must have seen: a little red-headed girl named Lily Potter, and a boy with dark messy hair and Lily Evans’ green eyes.
“Well, if she wants to feel haunted, that’s her problem. Not our children’s.” Her eyes soften. “Neither yours.”
“Yeah. Sure.” He knows he doesn’t sound too convincing; Ginny hugs him and, even though her head is buried in his chest and Harry’s arms are wrapped closely around her, he feels he is the one getting all the comfort. “I was just surprised.”
“Sorry, I shouldn’t have just blurted it out like that.”
“No, that’s fine. Well, it’s okay at least,” he adds under her disbelieving gaze. “How did it go then?”
“Okay. Weird. She recognized me—that time we happened to meet at Dudley’s—but truly she couldn’t take her eyes off the kids.” She sighs heavily. “I think she wanted to meet them.”
“Oh.” There is a sudden need to go confirm if Al and Lily are safe in their bedroom right now. “And do you think—”
“No,” interrupts Ginny at once. “If she feels any regret, if she wants a second chance—she should ask you, not your children. She doesn’t get to try anything with them, that’s not how it works.”
“And do you think she wants a second chance…?”
“If she does, she can ask Dudley for our number. She can reach out to you and see if you want to talk to her.” Harry doesn’t answer her; Ginny breaks apart just enough to watch his face. “What? Why are you looking guilty?”
“It’s just—she’s also their family, so—”
“No.” She crosses her arms, jaw set. “Petunia Dursley is your relative, not your family. Your family is upstairs creating havoc in their rooms even though we told them to go to sleep. Your family are your friends, everyone who cares for you—not someone who just shares your blood, and nothing else.”
He pulls her closer again. “You are right,” he says, closing his eyes, and letting his head rest atop hers. “Myreal family is perfect.” Above them, there is the sound of something heavy falling on the floor; Lily’s giggle sounds through the house, just as Albus yells something. “And I wouldn’t change it for anything.”

I am so sick of fic writers making 10-year-olds talk like babies.
I work with children and have taken numerous classes on adolescent development. Here's some of what I learned because I might actually kill someone if I read another fic where an older child is essentially a four-year-old. (No hate to anyone in particular. Children are confusing.)
(Slight trigger warning for 13 & 14 year-olds. Puberty/sex mentioned)

As a children's librarian, people who harass fans of Harry Potter indiscriminately really worry me.
Here's why.
1. The majority of Harry Potter fans are children.
I've had people call me disgusting and scum and an embarrassment to my disabled community. I've been suicide baited and have received death threats. All of this can be heavy enough stuff for an adult to deal with.
And then I think of how most of my 700+ elementary-aged students are huge Harry Potter fans. Because, you know, Harry Potter is a children's series. And they also have access to the internet and social media like TikTok and YouTube.
Now imagine the stuff that's been said to me being said to a kid. Because Harry Potter's main audience are KIDS.
2. This black-and-white mentality isn't healthy.
Very few things in life are cut-and-dry good vs bad. And if you employ this kind of thinking in one area of your life, odds are you'll apply it to other areas too(more on that in a moment).
And people who go out of their way to harass people who like Harry Potter don't seem to particularly care about any context beyond "If you like Harry Potter in any way whatsoever you're scum".
It hasn't mattered when I've pointed out that I absolutely and unequivocally think Rowling's TERF views are awful and scummy and wrong. It hasn't mattered that I try my best to consume the content only in ways that won't monetarily support her, (which kids typically can't do, btw). It hasn't mattered that it's literally in my job description to keep up with children's media to procure content for my patrons as well as to be able to hold conversations with them.
3. Saying "You're not allowed to read this without being harassed" is no different from saying a book should be banned.
This is ironic, seeing as the people doing the harassing are also often up in arms about queerphobic and racist book bans (as they should be) while demanding book bans of their own.
Because in their all-or-nothing way of thinking, book bans are only bad when the "bad" people do it.
No. Book bans are always bad, no exceptions.
Book bans aren't bad because they're banning the "good" books, they're bad because banning access to different ideas is always bad. Because every book has a lesson to teach us (perhaps not the lesson intended by the author, but a lesson nonetheless).
