Body blues, fitness & Shitness...
Tumblr media
After Ivy was born I lost all my baby weight in Two weeks because I was too anxious to eat or even to sit down actually! However, since life as a Mummy has settled, the post baby depression crept in, bringing with it eating my feelings and putting half of my pregnancy weight back on.
For me, post baby depression is not to be confused with post natal depression, for although there have been and I am sure there will be many more moments when Iā€™ve wanted to put Ivy out with the rubbish, I know I never actually would, in fact, sheā€™s the one thing guaranteed to make me smile everyday! For me post baby depression is the same old taboo, not to be openly talked about, depression that Iā€™ve suffered with for years since the loss of my mum and sister, it comes and goes and to be honest, Iā€™ve always been pretty open about it and pretty switched on with how to manage it.
The tough thing is, part of managing it usually comes in the form of fitness, well fitness and prescription drugs! But the fitness part, I am really struggling with!
I walk a lot as I hate being cooped up in the house all day but itā€™s not like I can go to the gym or for a run like I used to now that I have Ivy, which on that note, why the hell donā€™t leisure centres or gyms have crĆØches anymore?!
I am the fattest non pregnant weight I have ever been and itā€™s making me feel shit so Iā€™ve decided I need to find a way to lose it and thatā€™s why Iā€™m sharing this, in hope some support will spur me on or maybe even just the fact Iā€™ve said it out loud to the world might make me change!
Iā€™ve never had low self esteem issues, Iā€™m not saying Iā€™m lush or have ever been bigheaded but I have a fairly pretty face and Iā€™ve always had a pretty average figure so Iā€™ve never really worried too much about how I look but lately, I just donā€™t feel like me and itā€™s getting me down.
If youā€™ve ever had a big weight gain then youā€™ll know where Iā€™m coming from as I just feel yuk in all my clothes, and am convinced that even friends must look at me and think ā€˜ god, sheā€™s got fatā€™, which I know is silly as friends donā€™t judge you on your looks!! I donā€™t think it matters what size you are, if you arenā€™t comfortable in your own skin then you need to do something about it!
So what can I do? I want to go back to the gym as that would also give me some me time but there are no gyms near me which have a crĆØche! I wanted to go to the sweaty mama classes that you can take your baby to but the nearest one is 45 minutes away and I canā€™t see Ivy being happy to sit through an exercise class after travelling for 45 minutes! One of my mum friends goes to a local baby friendly exercise class but I am too embarrassed of how unfit Iā€™ve become to go along with her, so I figure my option is to keep up the walking but up my step count more and to try and exercise with Ivy in the room, or try to quietly exercise when sheā€™s gone to bed in the evening. What do other Mums do? because all the Mums I meet seem to have snapped back to their old size in no time!
Diet wise, can someone please teach me how to stick to meal planning!!!! I am so bad at it! Iā€™m considering rejoining slimming world as that seems to work wonders for everyone but am open to suggestions! Me and Ivy eat the same food mostly so it has to be baby friendly too!
Or, yes, I know the other option, learn to love my body as it is....
Iā€™m afraid that one just isnā€™t going to work for me, as I donā€™t feel like this is ā€˜myā€™ body. I feel like this is the body of an unhappy version of me and not someone I feel good being.
High five to anyone who does love the skin theyā€™re in, thatā€™s how I want to feel! Happy and healthy and fit and most importantly, a good role model for my little lady who I know is going to grow up too fast and who I donā€™t want to suffer with body issues herself!

I hardly gained anything during my 6months of pregnancy but when my daughter was born i ate anything and everything in stress. As i'm an emotional eater and food is the only thing that comforts me, which in return gave me 20-25 kgs of extra weight.Ā  also when you have PCOS + Vitamin D defficiency, the combination makes it worse to loose weight and you tend to gain fast. I used to not feel good to see myself in the mirror but i never hated myself. Being a breastfeeding mother i was not allowed to do any heavy workouts even after 5-6months of my daughter's birth.Ā  So i started with 5-5 suryanamaskar in the morning and tried to take small walks in the room while making my daughter to sleep and Bam! i started to feel good and was seeing small results. Slowly slowly i increased my workouts 7-10mins (no equipments no running only bodyweight workouts as i cannot do treadmill or jogging because of my Vitamin D defficiency) . Yes but i did make a few changes to my diet( healthy changes) I'm a foodie so i cannot live without food. so no crash diets for me infact i try make alternative of my favorite dishes and enjoy them as much as i can guilt free!Ā  Taking care of yourself is part of taking of your family. Kym Herjavec Gushes Over Life With Twins and How She's Getting Back in Shape Post-Pregnancy (Exclusive)
Kym HerjavecĀ is loving her new life as a mom!
ET caught up with the 41-year-old dancer over the phone on Wednesday, where she gushed over how her world has changed since welcoming twins Hudson and Haven with her husband, Robert Herjavec, in April.
"I'm just so happy," she exclaimed.Ā "I was just hoping that the babies would be healthy... and to have two beautiful, healthy babies is the most incredible thing."
"Robert's been great," she added.Ā "He's been taking care of me and the babies. I saw the picture of [Dwayne] 'the Rock' [Johnson] feeding his girlfriend [while she was breastfeeding], and Robert was doing the same thing to me -- feeding me as I was feeding the babies. It's really nice to see him with the kids."
Happy Fathers Day @robert_herjavec No words can describe how much I love you ā¤ļø
A post shared by Kym Herjavec (@kymherjavec5678) on Jun 17, 2018 at 11:56am PDT
Kym admittedĀ that although parenting newborns has been "a lot of work" so far, she and Robert are also "having so much fun."
"We've gotten into a bit of a groove. It takes a while," she confessed, telling ET that her mother and friends haveĀ also been a big help. "My girlfriends tell me that you feel like you get into the groove of one thing, and then another stage happens. My mom gave me great advice. She said, 'You have to have a sense of humor,' and she's right. In the beginning, I remember walking down the stairs to see Robert and it was crazy [in the house].Ā I'd sprung a leak in my boob and I had no idea and he was laughing at me.Ā It'sĀ those funny things that happen and you've got to keep a good sense of humor with having babies."
"Being a mom, I have such a different respect for moms now, it'sĀ unbelievable," she continued. "You just realize how incredible women are, and we shouldn't put too much pressure on ourselves because everyone's different. And we're all just doing the best we can!"
Fun little outing today! #7weeksoldalready #twins thanks for the hair and makeup @reecejenner and @makeupartistmichael šŸ’‹

Although the twins are still very young (only twoĀ months old), Kym told us thatĀ theyĀ "definitely" haveĀ created their own personalities already.
"Theyā€™re giving me smiles now," she shared. "I was hoping they'd really be interacting with each other, being twins, but they really don't care about each other that much yet, but that will change. It's really great seeing how different they are."
"It'sĀ too early to tell [who they resemble more], but Hudson is a little mini-Robert because he's got a ton of hair like Robert," she added. "Haven looks a bit like me [right] now."
#happyhumpday Hudson is NOT happy with his ill fitting tux šŸ˜‚

When she's not taking care of her little bundles of joy, Kym has been working on getting back in shape. The mother of two -- who owns her own danceĀ fitness studio, The BOD by Kym, in Beverly Hills, California -- said she was given clearance by her doctors to start working out again six weeks after giving birth.
"For the first six weeks, I didn't do anything but be with the babies," she explained. "I did lose quite a bit of weight that first six weeks just from sheer exhaustion and taking care of two twins. So, that just happened naturally. I was also wearing some support garments and things like that that they gave me at the hospital, and I think that helped with my stomach muscles. It was just eating well and staying hydrated and the sheer exhaustion of looking after babies in that first six weeks."
"I just started doing some Pilates, which I did throughout my pregnancy," she continued. "I just eased myself [back] into it, because you have to really start all over again, and I love that. I'mĀ starting to feel like I've got abs; I'm starting to feel my abs again. And then I've just been doing a little bit of cardio. I want to start teaching again, so I've been back at my studio, just doing my dance fitness classes. A little bit of dance cardio, nothing too crazy... and some Pilates to engage that core again."
So nice to be back @thebodbykym for a quick little workout with @missgale Body Of Dance šŸ’ƒ #dance #fitness #postbabyfitness

Kym's also found a way to incorporate her twins into her at-home workouts when she can't make it to the studio or a gym.
"It is really fun to do little things with the babies,Ā like squats, or even holding the babies is a workout when youā€™re a new mom," she joked. "Just being at home with them, looking after them is such a workout. [But] it is nice to get that little break... once a week, to get to do a class or something like that. I think it's good for your sanity as well."
"I always promised myself that I wouldn't put too much pressure on myself to get back in shape," she added, "so I'm trying to take it slowly and enjoy the babies. I think that's the key --Ā not to put too much pressure on yourself and know that your body will come back."
My new at home workout! Thank you @mammojo for the amazing post pregnancy activewear #postpregnancybody #babycurtsey

Back in February, before the twins were born, Kym told ET that she was receiving mom advice fromĀ fellow Dancing With the Stars pro Peta Murgatroyd, who shares a 1-year-old son, Shai, with Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
"She's been giving me some great advice [on] how she was through her pregnancy and what to expect," Kym revealed. "I mean, she's incredible. I can't believe she went back to being a [DWTS] pro on the show --Ā I think when the baby was, like, two months old."

Another comparison to old photos of my pre-Navy, bodybuilding days. . 2013- My stomach was still soft and wasnā€™t exactly where i wanted it to be, even with HOURS in the gym and a VERY strict diet.. . 2018- Even after having a child, my body is actually in its VERY best shape itā€™s ever been. My abs have tighten significantly and skimmed down. I havenā€™t been to a gym or anything! Healthy nutrition and chasing a toddler constantly did all this! . Iā€™ve learned that nutrition is key. Strict, elimination diets do NOT benefit your body the way you think they do. The results speak for themselves!!! . šŸ’ŖšŸ¼šŸ’ŖšŸ¼šŸ’ŖšŸ¼ . farrisemily.goherbalife.com . #herbalife #herbalifeshakes #herbalifenutrition #herbalifemama #herbalifebabe #workathomemama ##bossmama #buildingmyempire #sparkleinandout #fitmamainprogress #sparklesquad #momboss #nutritionjourney #feedyourbody #postbabybody #mamahasmusclestoo #herbalife24 #cherishyourbody #loveyourbody #bikiniboundmama #postbabyfitness #nutritioniskey

5 weeks apart... Spot the difference! šŸ˜‰ Stretching before and after my birth made a huge difference to my health. Before birth stretching is really important in helping the body prepare to 'open up'. We hold a lot of tension in the body especially if there is any fear associated with birth, so stretching helps work through this tension mentally and physically. Of course, open legs and hips also makes a huge difference to the actual delivery as you have many more options for birthing positions which can make it a lot more comfortable for Mum and baby. (Isla came into the world through a modified Skandasana!) šŸ˜‚ After birth stretching helps reduce pain associated with long times sitting/lying and carrying baby. It helps circulation through the body which repairs tissues and cells and leaves the body feeling energised. If there is any stress or tension this manifests in the fascia and stretching helps break down this tension helping Mum to feel a lot more relaxed. If you are a first time Yogi some great stretches to get started are... -Cat/Cow -Relaxed forward fold(bent knees are fine) -Kneeling lunge -Squat pose Hope this helps any soon to be or new Mum's. Keep stretching those bodies, hearts and minds! ā¤ļøG #myyogajourney #beforeandafterbaby #yogaforhealth #healthbenefitsofstretching #postbirthhealth #postbabyfitness #pregnancyhealth #pregnancyfitness #mypregnancyjourney #beforeandafter #yogawithbaby #mumsandbubsyoga #MotherEarthYogis #healthpregnancy #yogajournal

Totally. Especially now that my options are run after dinner (no thank you) or run before I have any business being awake (if I have too but Iā€™m still going to complain). I do love the feeling once the run is over but still....

Oh my god this pose feels good! šŸ™Œ With all the hunching over bassinets, carrying baby around and sitting down to nurse I was starting to feel like the hunchback of Notre Dame! Back bends are not only great for physically releasing tension between the shoulders, through the neck and spine but also for letting go of pent up emotions (which when you're a new Mum there's plenty of!) Hold Ustrasana for as long as you can with a relaxed breath keeping your hips over your knees and your chest lifted. You'll come up feeling brand new! šŸ‘Œ Oh and yes, Isla is wearing a fluffy bunny suit... It's so cute it hurts my soul! šŸ˜‚ā¤ļø #healthbenefitsofyoga #backbendlove #ustrasana #babiesofinstagram #mumsandbubsyoga #4weekspostpartum #happyandhealthy #mumsandbubsfitness #yogawithbaby #postbabyfitness #postbabyhealth #postnatalhealth #yogawithgeorgia

Continued from last post... -Diastasis friendly exercise. In keeping with the last point, I also supported my tummy through exercise. Core work was really important for me but I would not do any exercises that 'pushed' my stomach away from my spine (Eg: crunches or push-ups.) Instead, I did side lying exercises like side plank or simply practiced pulling my belly in to my spine. šŸ‘ -Coconut Oil. It's been said that this stuff can fix anything and my life is certainly a testament to that! šŸ™Œ I smothered the stuff on me every day. It is amazing for keeping the skin moisturised which avoids stretch marks. I am now using it on Isla too! -Nutrition. šŸ This is an obvious one but often overlooked especially when we get into the mentality of 'eating for two.' As my stomach got more and more squished I found the best way to eat was small amounts, often (even through the night) to keep nausea away and blood sugar up. Protein and fat made me feel really energised and I also drank heaps of water. šŸ’¦ Pregnancy 'cravings' are normally just your body telling you what it is deficient in and so because I was always craving red meat I made sure to up the Iron in my diet in other ways also. -Self love. šŸ’— I think this is the most important one through the whole pregnancy experience. No matter what it looks like physically, our body is doing an AMAZING job, I mean it's creating a human! For sure, some days we might FEEL like a big swollen beach ball, but it's really important not to get down on ourselves as our body listens to these messages and if we keep repeating negative statements to ourselves soon enough this will manifest physically. šŸ So don't stand in the way of change, embrace it! Buy yourself some lovely clothes that show off your gorgeous bump and be proud! Being pregnant is a privilege that is denied to many. Once you have your baby you will probably miss your bump! So rub coconut oil on it, move it, feed it well and love the gorgeous, radiant, human producing woman that you are! šŸ™Œ Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions and stay awesome Yogis! ā¤ļøā˜ŗļø #selflove #positivebodyimage #postbabyfitness #happyandhealthy

Run #2
Thatā€™s right. It happened. Run #2 is in the books. (Disclaimer: Iā€™m likely not going to list every run and wonā€™t number them all.) Albeit, it required a 5:45 am wake-up but Iā€™ll take it. So strange to run through the neighborhood when thereā€™s little to no activity, the street lamps are on, and you know for sure itā€™s the road and you.
