So last night someone *cough* Isla *cough* thought it would be a fun idea to pull an all nighter! 😑 All I can say right now is wish I could transfer this filter onto my face in real life! 😳 Haha. But then she starts talking and smiling at me and suddenly sleep isn't so important. ❤️ Just don't put me in charge of any big decisions today... I just stepped into the shower with my towel on 😂 #mumsdiary #sleepdeprived #filterneededtoday #myyogalife #keepingitreal #babiesofinstagram #4weekspostpartum #happybaby #lifewithbaby #stopdropandsleep

5 weeks apart... Spot the difference! 😉 Stretching before and after my birth made a huge difference to my health. Before birth stretching is really important in helping the body prepare to 'open up'. We hold a lot of tension in the body especially if there is any fear associated with birth, so stretching helps work through this tension mentally and physically. Of course, open legs and hips also makes a huge difference to the actual delivery as you have many more options for birthing positions which can make it a lot more comfortable for Mum and baby. (Isla came into the world through a modified Skandasana!) 😂 After birth stretching helps reduce pain associated with long times sitting/lying and carrying baby. It helps circulation through the body which repairs tissues and cells and leaves the body feeling energised. If there is any stress or tension this manifests in the fascia and stretching helps break down this tension helping Mum to feel a lot more relaxed. If you are a first time Yogi some great stretches to get started are... -Cat/Cow -Relaxed forward fold(bent knees are fine) -Kneeling lunge -Squat pose Hope this helps any soon to be or new Mum's. Keep stretching those bodies, hearts and minds! ❤️G #myyogajourney #beforeandafterbaby #yogaforhealth #healthbenefitsofstretching #postbirthhealth #postbabyfitness #pregnancyhealth #pregnancyfitness #mypregnancyjourney #beforeandafter #yogawithbaby #mumsandbubsyoga #MotherEarthYogis #healthpregnancy #yogajournal

Oh my god this pose feels good! 🙌 With all the hunching over bassinets, carrying baby around and sitting down to nurse I was starting to feel like the hunchback of Notre Dame! Back bends are not only great for physically releasing tension between the shoulders, through the neck and spine but also for letting go of pent up emotions (which when you're a new Mum there's plenty of!) Hold Ustrasana for as long as you can with a relaxed breath keeping your hips over your knees and your chest lifted. You'll come up feeling brand new! 👌 Oh and yes, Isla is wearing a fluffy bunny suit... It's so cute it hurts my soul! 😂❤️ #healthbenefitsofyoga #backbendlove #ustrasana #babiesofinstagram #mumsandbubsyoga #4weekspostpartum #happyandhealthy #mumsandbubsfitness #yogawithbaby #postbabyfitness #postbabyhealth #postnatalhealth #yogawithgeorgia

Babies are a really good mirror to our emotions. Just like animals they can pick up in an instant if we are stressed, anxious, angry or calm and content. People often say 'relaxed Mum, relaxed baby' so despite everything being new, sleep levels being low and extra emotional hormones pulsing through my body, I am making a real concerted effort to stay relaxed and calm. Not only does this make Isla feel better it makes ME feel better and so the positive cycle continues. ☺️ Things that I've found have really helped me stay relaxed are: -Remembering that I was a whole, interesting person with another life before I became a Mum. So where appropriate I try and incorporate these things into my life with Isla. Yoga practice, road trips, reading books, playing music... This keeps me within the bigger picture and stops me from being that person that only talks about the colour of their kids nappy 24/7! 😂 -Being in the moment. These moments I'm sharing with my new daughter are so incredibly special. If I am sitting with her or feeding her I make sure to really be with her. Whilst it's tempting to reach for my phone or watch TV it's so much more important to just look into her beautiful blue eyes, take a deep breath and take in every aspect of the moment... Because one day she will be all grown up! -Let go of expectations. We all have different and amazing stories. But we cannot expect every page to be a masterpiece. There's always going to be days that challenge you, but this is how we grow! Babies definitely don't come with an instruction manual other than 'Have fun and good luck' so letting go of expectations to be the 'perfect mother' at all times is really important. As Osho says... 'Don't seek, don't serve, don't ask, don't knock, don't demand- RELAX. If you relax, it comes. If you relax, it is there. If you relax you start vibrating with it.' And maybe, just maybe this is how we relax our babies too? ☺️ #keepcalmandrelax #positiveparenting #oshoquotes #happyandhealthy #mypregnancyjourney #mumsandbubsyoga #healthyparenting #postnatalyoga #postbabyfitness #letgoofexpectations #yogawithgeorgia #yogawithbaby #yogisofinstagram

Make your life about love not about things. No one is ever going to stand up at your funeral and say 'She had a really expensive couch and nice shoes!' With this little cherub in my life, I've got no choice. Even though we've only known each other for 3 weeks, I couldn't love her more. Don't forget to tell the ones you love how much they mean to you. Happy Friday everyone xo ❤️ #makelifeaboutliving #makelifeaboutlove #myyogalife #mumsandbubsyoga #3weekspostpartum #mumsandbubsfitness #healthybabies #healthyparenting

Continued from last post... -Diastasis friendly exercise. In keeping with the last point, I also supported my tummy through exercise. Core work was really important for me but I would not do any exercises that 'pushed' my stomach away from my spine (Eg: crunches or push-ups.) Instead, I did side lying exercises like side plank or simply practiced pulling my belly in to my spine. 👍 -Coconut Oil. It's been said that this stuff can fix anything and my life is certainly a testament to that! 🙌 I smothered the stuff on me every day. It is amazing for keeping the skin moisturised which avoids stretch marks. I am now using it on Isla too! -Nutrition. 🍏 This is an obvious one but often overlooked especially when we get into the mentality of 'eating for two.' As my stomach got more and more squished I found the best way to eat was small amounts, often (even through the night) to keep nausea away and blood sugar up. Protein and fat made me feel really energised and I also drank heaps of water. 💦 Pregnancy 'cravings' are normally just your body telling you what it is deficient in and so because I was always craving red meat I made sure to up the Iron in my diet in other ways also. -Self love. 💗 I think this is the most important one through the whole pregnancy experience. No matter what it looks like physically, our body is doing an AMAZING job, I mean it's creating a human! For sure, some days we might FEEL like a big swollen beach ball, but it's really important not to get down on ourselves as our body listens to these messages and if we keep repeating negative statements to ourselves soon enough this will manifest physically. 🏐 So don't stand in the way of change, embrace it! Buy yourself some lovely clothes that show off your gorgeous bump and be proud! Being pregnant is a privilege that is denied to many. Once you have your baby you will probably miss your bump! So rub coconut oil on it, move it, feed it well and love the gorgeous, radiant, human producing woman that you are! 🙌 Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions and stay awesome Yogis! ❤️☺️ #selflove #positivebodyimage #postbabyfitness #happyandhealthy

❗️PLEASE NOTE: This wasn't going to be something that I posted about because I think we all have such different experiences and there should be NO pressure on women to look a certain way post birth. But I have been asked by quite a few people now 'How I got my body back after baby' so I thought I would share what worked for ME. I know that there is a strong connection between how we look and how we feel and that for many women, losing their fit physique post birth can be very upsetting, especially when they did all the 'right' things. So I am sharing the following not to brag and certainly not to put pressure on anyone who hasn't regained their pre-baby physique, simply to share my experience and help those on the same journey. ☺️ What worked for me... -Movement every day. 🏃 There's this weird misconception that because you're pregnant you must suddenly stop everything and lie in bed for 9 months. Well this definitely wasn't for me. Instead of treating my pregnancy like a 9 month holiday I trained for my birth. Labour is one of the most physically taxing experiences of your life so I wanted to be as fit and healthy as I could be going into it. The exercise I did wasn't extreme, just constant. I did something every single day, even if it was just a walk around the block. This made my labour so much easier (if you can use that word for labour) and my recovery has been really good. I am back to all my old tricks now (under the guidance of my midwives) and because I kept my muscles strong and active during my pregnancy it has been easier for me to regain an athletic looking physique post birth. 💪 -Tummy support. Due to the massive amount of stretching and pressure on the stomach I chose to wear a tight band called a 'TubiGrip' around my stomach every day from about 11 weeks. This helped support and lift my stomach and took some of the pressure off my abdominals. It also helped to avoid abdominal separation known as 'diastasis' where the pressure of the baby tears apart the abdominal muscles which often does not heal post birth resulting in a 'Mummy tummy' (protruding stomach.) 😬 Continued in next post... 👍

Love this quote 👌 In this age of social media we are saturated with 'perfect' images of people who seem to have the ideal body, life, partner, baby, yoga practice and so on. If we go looking for it there's always going to be someone who seems to be doing 'better' than us. But we simply cannot compare because no one knows what goes on behind the lens and no one else can do YOU as well as you. So yes, admire others and be inspired by their posts as complimenting others certainly doesn't take anything away from you. But remember 1,000,000 likes on Instagram doesn't mean anything unless you love yourself. ❤️ #loveyourself #dontcompare #happyandhealthy #qotd #myyogajourney #yogaforhealth #positiveparenting #positivevibesonly

LEGS UP THE WALL POSE. 👌 One of my all time favourite postures, I pretty much lived in this position after my birth! It's so amazing for circulation as it gets the head and heart in line and elevates the legs. For this reasons it's also great for heavy legs, swollen feet and for post birth it's great for healing the uterus and preventing prolapse. But my favourite part about this pose is it's the ultimate 'I'm done' position. Great at the end of a long day to rest and recharge the body. The legs are up so you can't run away anywhere... Nothing left to do but to close your eyes and count to zen. ☺️👌 Thanks Isla for this perfect demonstration ... Now close your eyes sweetie! ❤️ #healthbenefitsofyoga #legsupthewallpose #happybaby #babyyoga #3weekspostpartum #happyandhealthy

'The nature of Yoga is to shine the light of awareness into the darkest corners of the body.' - Jason Crandell. ✨ Today I'm officially 3 weeks post partum and certainly feeling a lot more comfortable in my own skin again. Practicing Yoga throughout my pregnancy really helped me regain my strength, coordination and control post birth on a physical level but also stay positive, calm and relaxed with all the demands of a newborn on a mental and energetic level. Feeling like those 'dark corners' of my body are becoming lighter every day ☺️ #postbirthhealth #postpregnancyfitness #happyandhealthy #mypregnancyjourney #yogaforhealth #hotelyoga #pregnancyexercise #pregnancyhealth #postbabybody #postnatalhealth #postnatalyoga #positivebirth #3weekspostpartum #yogaquote #yogisofinstagram #yogajournal #postpregnancyexercise
