December Prompt: Winter Flu Virus

Sniffles and quiet whimpers filled the air of the royal chambers. The air was somber despite the cheery sunlight that filtered in through the windows.

The saccharine king that oversaw the islands of Sugar Rush sat on a stool beside the bed, wringing out the warm water from the rag. He placed it gently overtop Adorabeezle’s brow. He reached beside him to grab another rag.

briefly, the king looked up to see his royal servant, Sour Bill, gather up the three measuring cups back onto his tray. He’d just given the girls their medicine.

Sour Bill, as he walked around the bed, met his gaze. The candy npc came up beside him and quietly asked, “did you check…?”

“They should be back up and at ‘em within the next few days.” The king whispered back, with a brief look over to the children.

Sour Bill looked relieved. The candy ball had been practically beside himself in worry over the sick racers. Concerned that the bug they’d caught would have devastating effects over the young girls.

Thankfully it was mild and an easily fixed issue. It was just an uncomfortable one. The girls would should break their fever sometime through the night and a cough for the next couple of days, but they would be fine.

“Thank you, sire.” Sour Bill gave him a rare look of appreciation.

Neither of them had particularly gotten along well with the other. Mainly because the Candy Ball had figured him out nigh immediately after he’d— acquired the throne. Even still, the npc had carried his duties as if nothing was wrong.

Because there wasn’t anything wrong.

Everything was as it should be.

A harsh cough made the king and his servant flinch. Both look over to see Candlehead peering over at them with tears in her eyes.

“Can I have some more of th- that tea, King Candy?” Her voice broke and rasped as asked. The king looked on in sympathy.

“Of cour’th, my dear.” He replied with a significant nod to Sour Bill.

The royal servant made his way to the kitchens.

I was born in the mid 2000s before Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss were a thing. My parents raised me in a loving environment and they did their best to teach me to use words with patience when I was diagnosed with autism.

I grew up with Baby Einstein, The Backyardigans, Veggietales, Disney, Nintendo, Star Wars (through LEGO games), Batman (again, through LEGO games), My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (I only watch from season 1 to the beginning of season 7), Transformers Prime, Transformers Animated (I watch the episodes in a random order on YouTube when I first discovered the show), Gravity Falls, and Five Nights at Freddy's (through Markiplier's gameplay thumbnails).

If parents are purposefully making their kids watch HH or HB, then that automatically makes them ABSOLUTE FAILURES AS PARENTS! THIS MOTHER SHOULDN'T BRING HER CHILD HERE WHEN ITS ABOUT HH OR HB! AS A RESULT, SHE IS AN ABSOLUTE FAILURE AS A MOTHER!

If adults are encouraging kids to watch both shows, then they should all be ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES! I am looking at you, Amir Talai, Erika Henningsen, and especially Vivienne Medrano! Y'all think it is okay for kids to watch both shows when it is NOT!

Grown adults' brain are fully developed, and yet they still don't know how to be responsible to children!

If I have children in the future, I will not let them watch both shows or bring them in the con when it is about HH or HB because of the horrible messaging here!

"Your dad is like...so cute?" And she supposes that its true enough? Even Zeph can tell Hiccup is handsome and funny and smart. She's his daughter, not DEAD.

Nuffink HATES it when his friends and girlfriends swoon about his "cool, hot dad", he handles it with less grace because he's the youngest and has to already deal with feeling inferior to Zephyr, having to compete with his DAD too is crippling????

Hiccup is totally aware of this and is both flattered and horrified, occasionally he will entertain the masses by being complimentary in return, or even accidentally being a bit too...hiccup-y and not realize he's been wandering around the groundfloor of their house shirtless and ranting to mom about dragons- totally unaware or uncaring that Zephyr has her boyfriend over and Nuffink is stuck there with his two friends bc all three are oogling Hiccup.

chapter 37 of the Order of the Phoenix & Love

chapter 37 takes place immediately after harry returns from fighting death eaters and resisting voldemort's possession in the ministry. it takes place immediately after sirius black falls through the veil.

dumbledore finally decides to tell harry the truth of the prophecy and explain the reasoning behind his actions of the last fifteen years. why did he leave harry with his aunt and uncle, to ten years of abuse? he explains:

dumbledore is speaking, of course, of love. love is the ancient magic that lily invokes to save harry, that petunia and dumbledore invoke to protect him after lily's death.

this magic is powerful, perhaps the most powerful, and voldemort's fatal flaw is that he routinely underestimates the power of love. this brings his downfall.

as dumbledore explains his plan to harry, he points out his own missteps, his own flaws.

he cared for harry. he loved harry, and in doing so he acted in a way voldemort could predict and thwart. this is said just a page or two after dumbledore points out that voldemort's flaw is underestimating the power of love. and yet dumbledore's flaw is loving harry too much? is there such a thing as too much love, when lily's unending love for harry protects him fourteen years after her death? is this not dumbledore underestimating love, and using it in half measures, relegating it to the weakness that voldemort expects?

near the end of the chapter dumbledore returns to explaining the power of love:

love is the most powerful force in the world, according to dumbledore, but also his flaw. is this not a contradiction? does dumbledore fear love because it's out of his own control, beyond human intelligence, wonderful and terrible?

like voldemort, dumbledore trusts few people. he speaks to the power of love, yes, but like voldemort he underestimates it's power through being unwilling to wield it himself. dumbledore and voldemort's plans and machinations are interrupted more than once by lily and harry's ability to love. they underestimate lily and harry's powers, draws in on themselves, and trust no one, and they fail.

dumbledore cannot break himself of his fear of love and inability to trust others until his death. i wonder who besides harry may have survived if he could have
