I actually own a Venus flytrap, they are actually not easy to feed lol! first of all you have to transport the bug to the plant without killing or stunning it bc it has to be moving around, and if you’re squeamish at all (like me ☹️) this is the worst part. then you have to actually put it in a trap and with a smaller, less healthy plant you might want to be up close and personal to avoid a false trigger, Seymour would probably desperately want to avoid that. you have to feed them with intent.
Oh no! I never had one so I didn't know. Do they need to eat a lot? Seymour would give up his own blood for a plant but I think he would feel horribly guilty for killing a bug (though who knows what he might do! I mean. He fed the plants in the end!) I hope your Venus flytrap is okay! I think they are so interesting! And I think they can look very cute.

Fave newsies ship? And why lol [●_●]
I like Jack and Katherine because I like their duets! I also like Jack and Davey for the same reasons! But also I think it makes sense. Watching the movie I like Jack and Sarah. In my mind I like Sarah and Katherine. I wish they could be in the same world! Even just as friends!!!

do you think seymour from lsoh would have been able to stomach feeding normal bugs to a normal flytrap without being both constantly intimidated into doing it and scared of losing audrey if he doesn’t
Honestly I think to feed normal bugs to a normal flytrap wouldn't have been much of a problem for him. He wanted the plant to live, in grow for me he sings about trying all kinds of things! So he would be able to feed it a fly or two. Maybe he would even find some when he was sweeping! Also from what I understand, you don't have to feed normal fly traps very much and a lot of the time, they trap their own food! So he wouldn't have to worry.

thoughts on truth about the moon and how Davey should have absolutely sung it if you have any
I LOVE IT! (I wish we knew more about it!) I think The Truth About the Moon is a WONDERFUL song. Jack is always mentioning the moon in his songs so it is interesting to hear 'The truth about the moon'. I think it is a song that works so well for Davey or Sarah (or even others - as they think about the truth of Jack and the Santa Fe dreams?! Imagine Race, Crutchie and the other newsies having to face the reality of their leader seemingly betraying them?!) The song is VERY Davey coded. So that is what I will talk about here. I think it would have been wonderful for David to have his own song. Something like Proud of your boy from Aladin but also - The Truth About The Moon would be an amazing song for him: He knows about the moon - he has looked up in a dictionary or read in a book about it. The song mentions the Latin name for moon. "and was the moon especially bright I really can’t recall and this was the first time the facts of the matter didn’t matter at all" If this is Davey talking about meeting Jack. Remember he has just had to leave school to sell papers. Facts and being smart, understanding things seem to be something that David holds onto and help him with what he is going through. Though meeting Jack it is like - maybe the facts don't matter so much.
"Let my heart Let me be someone different from me from now on" WELL THIS BREAKS MY HEART. If it is Davey singing this, it fits into my thoughts and head canons that David is quite an insecure person. He has the weight of the world on his shoulders. I think sometimes he wishes he didn't have so many responsibilities.
I learned the truth about the moon the facts I learned are right I only wish it made me feel like the lies I learned tonight - A lot of Davey's identity is grounded on being the brains. So his confusion over the facts not bringing him any comfort speaks a lot. "lies from that dreamer that dime-novel cowboy that believes in that fantasy called Santa Fe given name: Jack someone who seems to get by with a smile having no substance it compensates with style" - Davey thinks Jack has style 👀 "this is the truth about the boy" - I think the use of boy is very important because they are all still boys really but they have been forced to grow up. "Fly away, Santa Fe " Thoughts on what the Santa Fe Dreams mean are so interesting. It is escape. One day I'll grow wings vibes. Jack wants out of this life that he's living. Maybe Davey thought things might be different because of him. It must have hurt his heart to think that Jack betrayed him. That he let himself forget his facts and let his guard down for a boy that dreams of being a cowboy and running away to a land full of SANDSTORMS AND TARANTULAS. "you’re the seed of a dream not a plan" David needs plans. He trusts plans "Once you go back to work, we go back to school. Then his plan for the rally. He is realising that Jack is more dreams than plan. Like Jack said. Davey's the brains. But maybe the brain believed in some of those dreams and now he feels hurt. "lovely dream still it seems like the dream of a boy not a man" - David having a Santa Fe Reprise would be GORGEOUS. Crutchie sort of gets one in Letter from the refuge (I was thinking we might just go, like you was saying...Where it's clean and green and pretty with no buildings in your way and you're riding palomino's everyday! Once that train makes...) (so)
"Many tears down here in my cocoon" - The idea of Davey hiding himself from people here. And also cocoon, you feel he cries quietly and on his own. "where i’m protected by my facts"- Again, back to facts being comforting to him. "like the truth about the moon"
"Moon. A natural satellite of the Earth, the same size no matter where you are. Latin name Luna lovely name" Back to the facts of things.
"Jack" Back to the heart of things.
ISN'T IT BEAUTIFUL. Thank you for reading this ESSAY of muddled thoughts.

I saw a video recently about a prehistoric woman who had been disabled for life based on fossil evidence and needed round-the-clock care, but she’d lived around the same time as most people would back then and one of her prominent health problems was rotted teeth, theoretically because her family loved her and was feeding her lots of figs, and I thought you’d appreciate that as much as I do (quite a lot)
This is incredible! Humans really CAN be kind. They cared for and loved her so much. They would bring her sweet things to eat. We are all capable of such kindness and we always have been.

The hardest thing to accept about the gilded age is that everyone else will be having like a fine and somewhat normal time, and then like three people will be having like just the most deranged shit in the whole world and that's it.
That's the show
