Headcanon Time: Kevin’s Family, the Wainauki Family💙🌊💙🌊
Wainauki comes from a few things I thought of, Wai being the Hawaiian word for water, as well as Njoki and Naki(Njoki is Kenyan name that means “precious” or “beautiful” while Naki is a term meaning “pure” or “without”
-The family is the third biggest when it comes to influence, with Shiba being the first and the Watanabe being in second.
-Like the other families, they deal in exports and other business that has been going on for centuries. Such as aquatic studies, port trades and even swimming affairs worldwide.
-Despite claims of the Shiba Clan uniting the allying the other families together against the nighlok, the Wainauki family was the first to discover their Symbol Power give or take 800 to 1200 years before due to their understanding of nature and water.
-Members of the family can breathe underwater for longer periods and even have slicker skin near their legs to swim faster, this is due to their adept training with the ocean but also has gandered the legends of mermaids being within the family.
-Kevin himself is the oldest of five other siblings. He has two brothers and three sisters with two of the sisters being twins. The youngest child, being a sister, is said to be a visionary who connects to water with her cognitive abilities. (Name wise Brother One-Kain, Brother Two-Caspian, Twin Sister One-Hali, Twin Sister Two-Ria, Youngest Sibling/Sister-Amaya)
-He also has three cousins who annoy him, which is why he tends to stay near the team to get his own privacy
-Fashion-wise, the family has a lot of blue and related colors within their wardrobe, some tend to wear cream white with their outfits while others have cool aquatic-style clothes with gill-like features and patterns. Another staple in their fashion is the usage of sea shells and pearls that are mainly placed in their hair or as jewelry.
-The Wainauki house is set into a few homes but there are three main buildings around the globe, the first said to be in the Caribbean, the second being in a seaside city within West Africa, and the main house said to be an underwater kingdom like city that can travel throughout the ocean.
-Kevin’s relationship with the Shiba Clan is mixed due to some individuals in his family not aligning with them while others tend to look up to them due to the centuries-old alliance. He questions their aid due to their elements being opposites but also has a soft spot for Jayden mainly because he may have picked up the idea that Jayden might’ve had Lauren as a sibling and with him having to take all the responsibility as family representative…years ago one fateful night, Kevin lost his mother and nearly lost his siblings when he forgot to watch a gap to the Netherworld forming in one of their houses and a banshee-like nighlok attacked the family. He took charge and killed it but has a lot of resentment for letting his mind slip, sometimes he feels his father blaming him for what occurred and it’s just best for Kevin to not allow any more tragedy to befall the people around him.
-He will shoot his hydro bow at any siblings and cousins that try to imply he has a thing for Mike or Jayden, of course, they’re too fast to hit but Kevin hates the implication(despite finding himself staring at Mike from time to time…).
-Like the Shiba Clan, the other families have a set of ultimate techniques. The Wainauki family has three, the first being based on Ryūgū-jō(The sea palace of the water dragon god Ryujin), the second said to be a song that calls upon the “wrath” of all mermaids and nereids, and the third being unknown as half of the script for the symbol power has been lost over 700 years but it was said to be powerful enough to cast an entire island or country into the ocean.

a little morning pick-me-up
-
A morning on the way to Baldur's Gate. The party booked themselves into an inn and enjoyed real beds, hot baths, and privacy for the first time since the Nautiloid.
Gale and Mayhew shared a room, of course. They were filled with the relief of surviving the shadows and the glow of finally getting together, so their private room was probably a blessing for the whole party, honestly.
-
This was some ascended anatomy practice! Referenced some great stock from @null-entity.

there is some symbolism iv never considered in that one episod of pt5 where zenigata rescues fujiko before she kills lupin
#there are many timelines and variations in lupin as a serie so that every ship could work#in my own prefered timeline lupin finally gets the hint that fujiko plays him like a fiddle#to me she does like him but he is an instrument to her#she is cold hearted and calculating and always thinking about relationships in terms of profit#i got some ideas abt her background that justify this. essentially she kills the detective that is after her and with that kills#the soft part of her that she couldnt control before#eventually and despite his affection lupin gives up the objectifications and the desires he projects onto fujiko#whom uses his delusions like a master tbh#thus allowing himself to consider zenigata. he plays with zenigata the way fujiko plays with him#hes just not as calculating. he feels pity and remorse where fujiko doesnt#he finds the thrills and the doubts and the lack of trust and the risk of betrayal in zenigata. the things that he loves the most#he isnt about stability. he thrives in the unknown. he loves that zenigata could backstab him and does so sometimes#and in that lack of stabilty some form of stability builds up. there is familiarity#and most importantly there are rare times when they can put the game aside and just chill#just enough to gather the energy to go back to trying to kill each other#plus zenigata pampers him during those breaks and he loves that#he acts with carelessness but he does care. in that regard he looses to fujiko#at least thats how she sees it. he doesnt see caring as a flaw#and zenigata is so sweet. he really is. and lupin loves to stirr up the crazy in him#fucking loonies the both of them#so in essence zenigata doesnt really 'save' him from fujiko but he becomes lupins new favourite toy to throw around#fujiko is only upset that because of that ugly looser of a detective her grip on lupin is loosening#she does find ways to use that newly developed affection luzeni has to her advantage thou#lupin is still her instrument she just drags zenigata along now#fujiko is such a good and interesting character and deserves so much better honestly#despite my love for TWCFM i wish there was another serie centralized around her where her ruthlessness is examined#and her cunning is studied. and the proper law enforcement she should face the same way lupin does#shes like a million times smarter and more ressourceful than him. steals much more. embezzles. manipulate#lupin is just a small time pickpocket next to her. she isnt about stealing a painting shes about emptying the pockets of the richest men in#the world. her goals are much more ambitious

Actually I think it's a bit unfair that I can't be an astrophysicist and a historian and a game developer and a marine biologist and an archaeologist and an author and a seamstress at the same time
#I think I have a quarter-life crisis /hj#like I want to make space discoveries but I also want to analyse ww2 battles and I want to-#study the behaviour of whales and I want to create fictional worlds and I want to sew costumes and and and#there's so much knowledge out there to be learned and things to try out how are you supposed to do this all in one lifetime?#when you're expected to start working a fulltime job and stay in that line for the rest of your life??#though my problem isn't necessarily that I don't wanna be doing that job - it's more that I don't *only* wanna be doing that job#I just wish I could just try different job fields and see what they're like for like 2-3 years before trying out something else#but since they're all so different I'd have to start from the bottom again every time which probably also means worse payment etc#and I just don't have the time for that because I'd also like to build a stable life and maybe have a family later on#plus some of these jobs are just don't pay very well to begin with#I swear if I was rich and didn't have to worry about regular income I'd probably just be a forever student and study a whole bunch of stuff#just because I want to#unless I win the lottery I'll probably just start working fulltime though once I hopefully finish my master's#however I've already been thinking about signing up for studying history afterwards regardless - just for fun without pressure#I love the topic and then I wouldn't have the pressure of *needing* to find a job in the field afterwards#bc it's hard to find something unless you go for the teacher (or maybe professor) route plus pay seems kinda meh either way#but we'll see#I don't even know what this post is supposed to be. like not really a vent but. still complaining? idk#I don't know how to tag this#selnia talks

the thing about each pjo book is that each of them is uniquely the best in what it sets out to do. each is so monumental in what the story ends up amounting to, picking a favorite is almost like pointless. you could not have all 5 work so well if one was missing
#tlt introduces the world and the main trio and the main antagonist#fun adventure in wacky world. normal#som piggybacks off the already established status quo of the world (fun wacky adventure) and builds relationships upon it#explores characters more. more introspection from percy and a lot raised (and answered) about annabeth#plus solidifying percy's bond w grover#ttc was my least fav for a long time because it just felt like idk off#and i now think it's bc it's where the story pivots a bit and becomes more serious#it's still v much haha fun adventure bc it's children's lit after all. but it is once again meant to solidify#percy's bond w annabeth; percy's devotion to chb and his feelings towards the prophecy#as well as being the climax of thalia's character and kind of settling the fact luke really is evil and doing some real shit#exemplified by the fact this is the first book where protags die#and thalia pretty much kills luke. like he doesn't die but she couldn't have known he wouldn't die#so percy now REALLY has an idea of what he's up against#notice how the following two books really couldn't have happened w/o this kind of certification from him#botl is like. AHHHHHHHHHH it is my fav for a reason#i just really love how it doesn't lose the footing w the pace and the fun hijinks but still manages to deepen the relationships between#the characters#especially with the focus on percy's feelings towards nico and annabeth's towards luke#like *chef's kiss* that book is so fucking good please#and with a foundation so strong there really was no way tlo could have been bad lmao#but still the fact the book takes time from Teh Final Confrotation vibes of it all#to make a point to show percy going back to his mom's. luke going back to may's. hestia's presence in the middle of all of it#rick was like this series has a theme and i will show it to you NAOW#and the action scenes in this one??? UNPARALLELED. tlo and botl the most riveting to read#if you remove one of them the story stops making as much sense!!#(i can hear you all going yeah like every other book series and NO. esp ya/childrens lit has SO MUCH filler)#ME? pjoposting in 2023? it's more likely than you think#pjo

i will be happy when sarah finally releases whatever retconned garbage is up next so everyone can stfu about whatever ship war they're reading into (whether you're right or wrong). i used to care about it in like 2018; i don't anymore. because this woman doesn't plan shit. she can't even keep her own lore, world building, or already published plotlines straight.
jfc - it has been a fucking decade of this, and all she has done is shit out a "crossover" that no one asked for and use her own need for therapy to have the eldest archeron sister cosplay as feyre and replace her younger sisters with two complete strangers that she "saves" and call herself a warrior queen who answers to no one. girlie, if you live in a court in prythian, you're a subject and you answer to someone somewhere. sit down and eat your food... or cassian's dick for all i care. i lost it at the house being alive in that book, besties; like what has it witnessed.
like ... idk what happened to the person that wrote the first three books, but holy shit. i am tired. i even stopped following tags on all social media three years ago and the discourse just leeches out everywhere. hence why i am here complaining. y'all woke me up on tuesday with your bullshit. so now my formerly-quiet annoyance is everyone's problem.

I swear people need to let the old AsuCaga vs AsuMey ship war die already. Between the canonical ring-Haumea stone scene and the (canonical) epilogue card art, plus Athrun's internal monologue during the "obscene delusions" scene in the novelization, and the Escape for Two prequel novella - as an AsuCaga fan, I feel like we won. And it's pretty obvious (to me, at least) that Meyrin's just Athrun's (work) partner for all the spy/covert ops stuff that they do - he's the field agent, she's the voice in his ear piece (and occasional hacker extraordinaire) - and shipper on deck for AsuCaga.
And those extra bonuses for the screening? Those are literally just storyboard line art for a scene from right before the final battle in the movie, because, guess what? Cagalli's still head of state for Orb and she can't exactly just go charging into battle like she did at the Second Battle of Jachin Due (especially since that would kind of ruin the plan Athrun had to get around the whole "Accords can read minds" thing).
So just ... let it go. I'm just going to leave Athrun's internal monologue during the "obscene delusions" scene from volume 2 of the novelization (translation courtesy of ZeonicScanslations) as proof AsuCaga is the intended canonical ship for Athrun:
"Cagalli…" Athrun focused intently on picturing Cagalli. As if clinging to that image. Her spirited golden eyes, her innocent smile that she showed from time to time, the scent of her hair… The supple curves beneath her wet, translucent clothes… The soft sensation of her skin when he embraced her, and the physique beneath… Her strong voice, resolute and clear, urged him to live, to fight with all his might. As he recalled every cherished moment with her, Athrun made a heartfelt vow. To live, to endure—whatever the means, no matter how desperate or unseemly the measures might be. Just as she had once told him.
Because that, right there? That reads like he's deeply in love with Cagalli and has eyes for no one else, not Lacus, not Meer, not Lunamaria, and most definitely not Meyrin. Or Kira for that matter. XD

Hm. If my ocs were in HZD I thiiink Zekira would be Carja. Probably Shadow Carja. Cassia would be a Nora death-seeker. Being granted the title after the Carja raids to avenge her family. And I think Marina would be an Oseram scavenger. Or maybe she was Carja born but escaped to an Oseram camp and settled with them.
As for the Librarian I could see him being a hostile subordinate function of Gaia. Maybe Apollo, instead of getting purged, was corrupted somehow and is actively turned hostile towards the humans like the other functions. Or maybe an ai from a different project gone wrong. If not an ai maybe a powerful Carja leader/scholar that takes Zeki under his wing with false pretenses
Idk I love the game I love putting my ocs in situations

Okay ONE more Loki post. I liked Sylvie in s1, genuinely! She was dynamic and interesting, the banter between her and Loki was on point, etc.
But then they toned down the makeup and the hairspray so she's a little less polished and gave her a small life she loves with nice coworkers and a favorite record shop. and I LOVE her
#loki spoilers#i mean yeah i think they should have let her look wrinklier and odder <3#but i can admit i'm the one watching a marvel show#if that's what i want i have come to the wrong place#anyway listen i keep seeing people say she's so selfish and she's not growing#i think that she IS selfish and she IS growing and i LOVE her#yeah it looks like she'll probably get pulled into needing to save the world one more time#(she *might* not but that's another essay i'm not gonna get into)#but i hope so bad that she gets to return to the life she loves after that#loki has been building a life with his friends and that's lovely#but the tva persecuted sylvie her entire life#*loki's friends* did that#and yes they've changed!! yes sylvie is plenty flawed too!!#but a life with them isn't the way forward that she wants#and that's okay#after all#what's so terrible about wanting something?#loki is allowed#and so is she#plus i just. god with cosmic powers who just wants to be allowed a normal life in freedom. without wielding power over anyone.#it GETS to me!!#also if Loki does end up being part of leading the TVA#so that you have one of them learning how to wield power well#and the other learning to give it up#that makes for a two sides of the same coin that i find very satisfying#(granted i for various reasons would prefer burning the TVA to the ground and loki also relinquishing power#but my guess at this point is that they won't go that way with it#which i suppose isn't surprising since it's a good tool to have in their back pocket for the films)#anyway#i love sylvie <3

object lifespans?
OK so I'm going way too deep into this, but, lifespans
My original idea was objects dont age but can die from literally anything else,
But then there's the question of objects that rot, objects that decay, corrode, or fade over time, resulting in, either I give everyone age immortality and see how that effects things, or go more of a different objects have different lifespans, and see where that takes things
For the no aging route
I don't think it effects too much until maybe their veriant of the late 1800's (not accurate to humans btw) when enough advancements and regulations are made that disease, injury, and workplace accedent deaths become much less common, and it becomes noticeable that people just, aren't really dying anymore, advancements start taking a very long time sense the sense if urgency isn't really there anymore, mortality isn't much of an issue now, so maybe that section of the story could be the objects figuring out, well, what now? What's the point of anything now that we literally fixed death and already explored almost the entire planet and its connected realms? Do they go stagnant? Do they regress as older generations refuse to allow change and try to bring back the "good ol days" back when life had reason? Do they try to skip to the space age and go beyond their own planet?
But then there's also the aspect of object fragility, there will still always be death as long as fragile glass, paper, food, and clockwork objects exist, this might balance things out a bit, or cause a societal issue as weaker objects are either babied or seen as lesser, maybe even both, characters like thermometer and red light are at a higher death risk than characters like motorbike helmet and skeleton key, now the conflict is less on a race against time and more on the device between sturdy and fragile objects.
For the some age some don't route
Different objects have different lifespans, in early time periods also resulting in a bit of a power gap as those that don't age seize power that they can't lose unless they're killed or overthrown manually, while objects that do age have to try and ensure stability while making more of their own kind to try and ensure their legacy's continue, likely food, paper, and some plant based objects have the shortest lifespans, followed by likely furniture onjects, clothing objects, and things like books, that need matinence to survive, followed longer lasting plant based objects, and ending in metal objects (elements might be a bit wonky) then things like stones, crystals, gold, and some silver objects being immortal,
This could lead to inturesting long lasting arcs, like the crown siblings, Goldie is literally immortal, she will never die of age, tarnished and their father are also potentially immortal if tarnished doesn't start corrooding, but then there's copper, copper is already corroding, out of the three siblings he is mortal, he's already dying and will die in what feels like nothing more than maybe a few months to Goldie and tarnished,
Tarnished is almost immortal, but compass and hook aren't, they will both die before him without proper matinence and he has to live with that knowledge that his lovers won't last as long as he will.
The fragility thing may still apply here as well
I'm probably going way too deep into this but it's fun thinking about how these things work, how an object based society would develop over time and function, what is their rate of advancement, what are the horrible fuck ups that show up in their history books? The misconceptions that continue for generations before its realized that it's been wrong the entire time? There's so much to work with!

I'm no art major so I might have a hard time explaining what I mean...But tbh I just miss Kishimoto's old art style, especially in the first couple volumes.
It just felt like the characters were less "boxed in" and ridged, as if they had to compete with the background detail to be eye catching? Like it felt as though the characters had a story going on, but you could look passed them and see the details of their environment and make up your own implications about what else is going on around the people you're supposed to be "watching?"
It was so easy to gleam details about the world, and realize that all the settings in the series are a living, breathing place where you - the reader - are just following one of the numerous other stories that are going on at the exact same time.
Then you can make headcanons about technology, locations and different citizens cause the details are right there.
It made it feel that the characters weren't just rooted in their surroundings, but like the environment itself was a character that was worthy of appreciation and interest. Like all the details Kishimoto put in those beginning volumes made me legitimately care about Konoha, and made me feel like I had a personal stake in it.
Like why should I care about some dumb fictional village? Just because the main character cares about it?
Oh, actually it's because it's because it's freaking gorgeous and looks like a place that I want to go visit.
And honestly, even something as mundane and simple as a salt shaker on a table while Naruto is eating with Iruka in Chapter 1 is so visually appealing...It mean that Kishimoto cared enough about his settings to show you - to remind you - that this is a setting that exists somewhere. This place is important. It's worthy of detail and care because there's a whole other layer of world building behind the conversation Naruto and Iruka are having. It's just honestly so blessed and I love it.
Plus, I enjoyed how dialogue wasn't always hard lined into textboxes. I miss when someone was thinking something and it was small little words beside their head, or the words bent or warped based on how the character was supposed to be saying them. It was more charming and made me feel for Naruto and the other characters because sometimes saying something legit feels like there's weight to them, or they quiver a bit, or they're under your breath, or...
This kinda became a rant, but yeah...I'm missing that old style and the love Kishimoto put into the very early days of Naruto. I also want to add that I'm not knocking the later style, because it is still a really appealing manga to look at, but it's just not as charming as it used to be. Plus, I understand how style changes based on how technology is utilized by artists, and I understand that Kishimoto had a lot of crazy time restraints when Naruto was coming out weekly. I don't blame him for not putting as much detail and thought into the background as he used to...even though I did get bored of seeing rock and barren landscape in the war arc (lol).
I guess I'm just glad that I can go back to those original volumes and embrace those gritty, charming and breath takingly detailed settlings that went hand and hand with the characters in making me love this series, and reminded me that this fictional place is something to care about and explore.

yg has conditioned ot7 ikon to be a touring group so now even when they all left yg, all they (ikon & hanbin) do is tour and join various music festivals. like i know those guys would prefer inviting other artists to guest in their concert over inviting them for a quick tiktok challenge or something
#also why they dont have much close idol friends outside yg or ex yg artists#kinda frustrating sometimes as a multi cuz i want them interacting w other artists who arent or never have been related to yg#they love that slow build friendship over music collab than a quick tiktok challenge for clout sksksk#but like theyre capitalists too so which easier way to get those 💸💸💸 and keep ur stans loyal than a tour#all they have to do is perform on stage (which theyre v comfy with) and do some fan service#so its a win win#plus they get to travel#if i were an idol i'd prefer this tbh#imagine if yg didnt gatekeep and sabotage their career before#theyd be soooo rich now w all the sold out world tours every year#but yg did and theyre still on the nugu side#so i think they should consider doing different things outside their comfort zone to promote themselves better#hanbin is actually doing well w it despite the restrictions#but ikon....#can they stop relying on their company cuz even their new one isnt doing a great job promoting them#honestly they need a better team behind them#they did change companies but their managers are still the same sksksk#so how theyre managed is still the same -.-#i have so much to say but i just realized i put way too many tags#lol bye#one of those days again where i have to let smth out before i sleep TT#but u know... one can always say theyre doing it for the art and not the fame 🤷🏻‍♀️#but knowing my man#junhoe#i know that diva wants to be famous#while still be in it for the art#he literally had an old interview saying ikon has a potential to be famous#my fellow envisioner <3#jana rambles
