The two annuals Calendula officinalis 'Neon' (pot marigold) and Orlaya grandiflora (white laceflower) were creating a show in a bed adjacent to the wildflower meadow of Great Dixter, Sussex, providing an additional food source for pollinators.

Who had the worst time aboard the TARDIS?

#genuinely vote peri #i've not seen all of her stories but my god from what i've seen the 80s writers hated her #there are some stories where she'd probably be better off dead #she seems to be in a constant living torturous hell with 6 being constantly nasty too her #this poor woman #okay specific example #her first trip after her introduction (recounted from memory so some details my be wrong)#she and the doctor unknowingly touch a poisonous plant which will kill them slowly and painfully (but fast enough she almost dies by the en #so great they need to find a cure #which is horrendously difficult to find in the best of circumstances #but these aren't the best of circumstances #they get taken hostage pretty quickly and very nearly get executed by firing squad #they get rescued by one of the most unnerving villains i think in the entire show #he creeps on peri constantly #like he gets as close to assaulting her as its possible to depict on tea time telly #and peri can't do anything about it #her life is entirely in this guys hands #like most of the time i find caves of androzani the be so hyperviolent as to be funny #but jesus christ the shit they put peri through in it #anyway by the end she's so ill the doctor has to drag her near lifeless body back to the tardis #gives her the cure and then promptly regenerates #and now peri's nice friendly doctor is uhh tv 6 #bad times: quarters

I may not be super active today. Lucy got into some flowers and got extremely sick last night. By the time I woke up this morning, she was drooling and stumbling and just in horrible shape.

I rushed her into the vet still in my pajamas and they recommended hooking her up to an IV and getting her rehydrated. As of last update, she’s doing okay: calm and resting but alert. I’m expecting a call with more details here shortly after the doctor comes back from lunch.

Please keep us in your thoughts, or pray for her if you pray. Her middle name is Athena because she’s my brave little warrior. I’m praying she pulls through now as well.

#tw pet illness #my grandma gave me the flowers and insisted they were cat-safe #in updating her on the situation she’s doubling down and insisting they WERE safe and clearly it’s my new wax melts that made her sick #never mind the fact that 1.) I did extensive research to make sure my wax of choice was both mild and cat-friendly #and 2.) if that WAS what made her ill then her brothers would have been sick too but thankfully they’re both in perfect health #I’m not even accusing her of poisoning my cats but she’s gotten so defensive anyway 😭😭😭#lesson learned! never take anyone else’s word on plant safety.

Producing the best display in early autumn the evergreen subshrub Salvia leucantha (Mexican bush sage) produces spikes of small white flowers with conspicuous downy purple clayces popular with bees. The plant needs well-drained soil in full sun or dappled shade in a frost-free border. Cuttings can be taken in autumn and overwintered in a heated glasshouse.
