Fascinated by Ashton choosing to introduce themself as "Ashton of the Hishari" but also saying they wanted to mourn something they didn't know they'd lost. I mean, it makes as much sense as anything - it's not like Greymoore holds any meaning for him, probably much less so now that he does not think of himself as one of the Nobodies any more, but rather one of Bells Hells. It is an interesting choice though to claim Hishari. They are the ones who gave them that primordial essence that they are trying to tap into; but they also did this to a child who could not possibly have been able to agree to this with a full understanding of what would happen (if, to be fair, it was deliberate and not a complete accident, but that doesn't paint them in a terribly great light either).

It fits very well with what Jirana tells him though: good things were gained, good things come out of the bad, and it's more important to focus on what he has than what he lost. But I wonder what the more blunt (and possibly more aware of the situation) Evontra'vir is going to say.

(Evontra'vir being a Gau Drashari is also a really interesting twist because the Gau Drashari of Domunas were very specifically focused on keeping the titans sealed. What exactly did Efterin get? Was it actually a blessing of Evontra'vir, or was it a relic from the Shattered Teeth he claimed was that but absolutely wasn't? How did the Gau Drashari - the original ones - feel about sending the Primordials across the planes, since it was the only option but their role had been to guard what was sealed, not to destroy or eliminate it?)

So, I was scrolling through all the character examination quotes on the DST wiki (not an uncommon pastime for me) and encountered the record and gramophone items which led me, a lover of random slice of life lore of these nerds, to wonder;

What music do these characters like?

So I flipped through the 4 records and each characters quote for them; taking note of who had positive or negative feelings about each (as well as little details I liked) so heres what I found.

Wigfrid is a sweetie, saying that she wants to keep the classic record (Ragtime) away so 'her ally' (Maxwell) doesn't have to hear it again. Willow on the other hand is a little shit

Maxwell and Wilson are both traumatized by Ragtime but Maxwell appears to have taken it much harder (which does make sense, he dealt with it longer)

Multiple of the characters have been haunted by Ragtime in some way, though they're not all sure when they heard it

Wurt is very picky and decisive about her music tastes, whereas Wanda has a very 'Kids these days' attitude about it and WX-78 doesn't like any songs.

The spider half of Webber's favorite song is 'Creepy Forest' but Webber as a whole also likes D.R style.

Wilson is fascinated by 'modern' record tech

Maxwell just doesn't like any music at this point

Wortox says he heard D.R Style (which is only used in some trailers) 'in a dream'. I don't know what this means but it feels notable, especially because he's the only one who mentions any familiarity with it.

anfortas (alberich) is named after the fisher king and legend of the shattered halberd's story beats are strikingly similar to the legend of the fisher king, because fischl = fischer (king) had to repair the shattered halberd to heal the divine halberd, the hero in the fisher king had to repair a broken sword to help heal the king and fulfill his quest. arthurian anfortas and princess halberd were suffering from a wound that could not heal. gi anfortas lost his left eye and fischl covers her left eye. another way to heal the king was by retrieving the weapon that wounded him and touching him with it. kaeya was supposedly looking for his grandfather's divine sword. only the fisher king's nephew percival could save him because is a "pure fool" and pierro (the fool) keeps emphasizing "the virtue of folly". in the caribert quest, kaeya pretended to be a naive fool to trick his audience and brought up how he failed to find khaenri'ah, which is what happens to percival who failed to return to the grail kingdom. (the fisher king's kingdom is monsalvat, which conveniently sounds like mondstadt.) kaeya's birthday is nov 30 which is the feast day of some fisherman fuck. he has a hangout ending where he catches a fish. the original story of the fisher king was written in old french, with fisher king being roi pêcheur which is almost identical to roi pécheur, sinner king, and on the back of fischl's princess outfit, there's a decoration that looks like a heart being stabbed with a lance which is what symbolizes the eternal suffering of anfortas as well as my own

Are Cuckoolander individuals common? Merlin says that they have gone through equivalent journeys before. Is there always a Cuckoolander? Is it every other time? How often is it multiple like MC and Percy?

You mean the Second Lesser Circle back in 2020? I suppose you could say that the Fake Yvain was acting a bit like that, but nowhere near the same level as Percy or potentially the Cloudcuckoolander MC.

Merlin is mostly used to those kinds of shenanigans from their stint at Camelot. There were certainly... characters... back then. Percival would be the most well known, but even some of the more level headed knights could start running through the woods starkers because their love rejected them. *stares at Lancelot, Tristan, and Yvain*
