A list of reasons why Rory Gilmore is a good person and not the shallow, manipulative person people make her out to be:

Took full responsibility for breaking Paris’s project and offered to help her fix it despite Paris being only rude to her at this point

Didn’t tell anyone that Paris had to take her cousin to the Chilton formal despite Paris taunting Rory/saying Rory couldn’t get a date

Told Paris that she could talk to her if she ever needed anyone to talk to despite the fact that Paris had just exposed Lorelai and Max kissing to the whole school

Encouraged Tristan to ask out Paris because she knew Paris had feelings for him

Helped Paris get ready for her date with Tristan and allowed her to borrow her mother’s clothes

Reassured her mother several times about her relationship with Max

Agreed to a coming out party because it made her grandmother happy

Helped Paris study numerous times despite Paris almost always antagonizing her

Gave Jess a chance and was nice to him when the rest of the town despised him. She even vouched for him/defended him often.

Was always super supportive to her friends (Lane with her band, Paris with academics, Lorelai with the Inn, all of them about their relationships, etc.)

Helped her mother throw a baby shower for Sookie (albeit they never got to have said shower).

Took care of Logan when he in the hospital and after even though he hadn’t been the best boyfriend at this point.

Always encouraged Dean to pursue his dreams/passions and told him he could do what he put his mind to.

Anyways this is all I can think of off the top of my head but stop saying Rory Gilmore is a terrible person. Yes, she made mistakes, but everyone does lol

my favourite character dynamics of younger gen gilmore girls is rory-jess-paris. There was this one scene in season 2 when Rory stayed in for the night and Paris, and then Jess unexpectedly came over, and they all ended up eating and talking pretentiously about literature. I think they'd make an amazing friends group.

Rewatching it now, I had a thought. It always seemed to me that Jess could never had fit into Rory's life, with her Gilmore heritage, attending balls, having all that money etc. The attraction between them wasn't enough to close the class gap. But I look at Paris, and Paris obviously also comes from a rich family so she should have similar problems, but actually no - as intense as she gets in social situations, she doesn't have all this unspoken pressure of belonging to 'high society' as Rory does sometimes. So, I'm starting to think that Jess and Rory didn't work out because of Rory's own issues and prejudices, not because of where she came from in terms of class and status.

So that scene is all I got. But I cherish the headcanon in which they all got along.

The scene where Paris is complaining to Rory about how undatable she is. The fact that Lorelai does the same with Luke complaining about how she's so unstable in relationships and with her emotions. Like obviously they have differing insecurities. But the fact that These two scenes parallel each other is really important to me. I'm feeling like doing a master post on How Rory is in a way Paris' Luke. One of the things I love so much about Gellmore is the reciprocity in their relationship. I feel like in a lot of discussions of who was Rory's best boyfriend it's all about what the boys did for her but Gellmore has so much reciprocity. Rory does so much for Paris.

But I still want people to explain to me how they see this relationship

I genuinely want to understand why people say that Jess and Rory were the perfect couple but they "happened at the wrong time" which is why they didn't last, but Jess was genuinely a horrible person to the point the whole town hated him

While I don't agree with the whole idea of a town meeting being put together just for everyone to discuss how badly they want Jess to leave, THAT KINDA SPEAKS VOLUMES

People be like "But Rory actually chose Jess" or whatever makes their relationship "significant" but that doesn't change the fact that FIRST, Jess wasn't that good a person and SECOND, Rory and Jess relationship wasn't necessarily healthy— and I don't mean "Oh, Rory and Jess argue sometimes" because I know relationships aren't perfect, but literally all Rory and Jess did was argue and make out, and they never went on any dates

People act like just because Jess was smart and only liked Rory and they kissed a lot, their relationship was perfectly fine and he "treated her right" when their relationship definitely wasn't perfectly fine, and he didn't treat her right

And I feel like at least a few people should like the person you're with, but it's like Jess made it so no one would like him because he was just rude and disrespectful to everyone— and a lot of the fandom gives Lorelai flak for not "giving Jess a chance" when she literally did, but did y'all forget that he was being a complete jerk the whole time FOR NO REASON, so it's understandable that she didn't want him around her daughter
