From last fall: One of the reddest reds on the landscape, associates with ericaceous heath belts with minimal light competition. So mainly dry sandstone with shallow nutrient poor soils and good drainage or sandstone barrens. Due to slow growth and an acidic weathering effect associated with the bark cortex and the water retention these species also tend to have incredible lichen diversity.
Citheronia regalis horn devil larva are associated as the primary moth that eats these leaves.
Oxydendrum arboreum
Sourwood, or some call it sour bark tree, chewing on the bark and active phloem was once common practice to alleviate the nerve pain associated with toothaches. The leaves themselves are an anti-gas, anti-inflammatory laxative(strong one at that). In some cases a tea can be made of the leaves that also aids in other issues and have been used to treat urinary infections by native people and early settlers to the Appalachian mountains and ilp.
Right now at llanfair permaculture we have an interesting soil dynamic that may be accessible for species like this due to good drainage and high organic comp as well as good lighting, the other thing is that these seeds don't seem to require any specialized treatment to germinate.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's snowing. It's very gentle and pretty. Today was a pretty calm day. I tried my best to just have a quiet day. And I got a few small projects done. It was a good day, even though my back hurts now. It's always the same spot, at the base of my right ribs in the back. I don't know what organ is there but it does hurt. Makes it hard to do stuff. I am trying to work through those pains but man is it exhausting.
I did not sleep great either. I really struggled to fall asleep because my back hurt. I moved to the other bedroom and that helped a little. Being on a harder bed for a bit. But I would end up back in our room eventually. My nose and mouth got crazy dry though and I woke up in pain. It was not ideal.
James left for work. And I slept a little longer. And when I woke up at 930 I felt pretty bad. My lips were stuck together and my nose was so dry. It was terrible. Thankfully though the patches I put on my face did help with the scabbing. It it still dry but not as angry and scary looking.
I got washed and dressed. I would make the bed and go downstairs. I had the soft pretzel I got yesterday for breakfast. I was disappointed that we had no mustard but that's alright.
We brought the clothing rack inside. And I decided not to put it out today because of the incoming weather. But I was able to hang the last of the clothing I had pulled to give away. I'm thrilled it's all gone so far. So I just finished hanging up the last of the clothes to put out later.
I would also start putting our highchair together. Which ended up being more difficult then I expected. I was struggling and was frustrated when I had to keep undoing parts to fix it. I got most of it together but I had to stop because I was just so frustrated that it wasn't working as easily as I thought it would.
I went to lay down for a while. Just in the studio and scrolled on my phone for a while. Just texting with James and trying to be normal.
I got my blood work from my appointment yesterday and there was some elevations and some lows. I decided I would send that over to the nurse practitioner we met with yesterday and she said I may be anemic! And suggested I take an iron supplement.
I needed to go get biotin at CVS anyway. So I got myself together to walk over there.
When I got outside I realized our recycling bin was not there?? Weird. I looked around but no luck. Hopefully it shows up soon.
I walked over to CVS. And it was very grey out schools were starting to dismiss early. And I enjoyed walking around. I found the exact brand the NP suggested for the iron. And my biotin was buy one get one free. Nice. I would also look at the first aid stuff and decided to try manuka honey cream for healing. Hopefully this helps my dry spots.
I got a fun drink. And walked around the store until there wasn't a line check out anymore. And headed home.
When I got back here I put everything away. And put the oven on to make lunch. While that was cooking I went and finally glued my phone case where the leather has separated. I did a little bit of embroidery. And enjoyed my food when it was done.
After lunch I went upstairs to do a little organizing in the guest room. I wanted to move the wardrobe to the other wall. And hang James's sports memorabilia and art stuff in there. Just fill the room up more. We are pretty sure one of us is going to end up sleeping in there while I'm healing so I want to make it more lived in. I did some moving of stuff on the shelves. But I promised James I wouldn't try to move furniture.
I did take the quilt off the wall though and took all the leftover screws out of the wall from the stuff that was previously on that wall. I also figured out that the little quilt fits on the half wall in the hallway perfectly! I was thrilled out that.
I went and painted my nails. And hung out with sweetp. And once my nails were dry I went downstairs to hang out on the chair in the studio until James came home.
My arms and back were still bugging me. Swelling and pain. But I did my best to be alright. The flurries started and it was really nice. And I was thrilled when James got home before it really started up. I was happy they were home safe.
James would warm up and then finished putting the highchair together. Thank you my love. We both had to find out today that Meril and her husband are moving to Florida to be with her family. And we are pretty heartbroken about it. But we also have decided to make sure we don't lost the friendship. Meril says it gives us a reason to come to Florida and she is very right. I am still really sad about her leaving. I love working with her.
But we keep moving forward. James would make us breakfast for dinner. And baked a few more cookies. We cuddled on the couch. And I just watched the show coming down. And I'm hurting pretty bad. But I'm trying to be positive.
Now James is upstairs playing a game with friends online. And I think I'm going to take a bath. And get cozy in bed.
Tomorrow I was supposed to go to the mall with Celia but we will have to wait to see how the roads are. I just hope it's a good day. I hope you all have a good day. I love you all very much. Sleep well everyone. Until next time.

Sweet little bumblebee ---------------------------------- SCP-321 [The Bee Child] Sadie Beckett Wolcott // Her/Them// Minor//Class Safe Cw: Body horror/Mention of cannibalism More info! Verrrry long- VVVV
Physical and Characteristics:
Sarah is a humaniod (Intersex) who was born on July 4, 18██. Lacks melanin in her hair, eyes, and skin.
Sarah suffered with speech impediments and remain selective mute, using a white board or a deck of speaking cards to communicate
Struggles to adapting to new situations, due to her lack of knowledge. Sarah's body is afflicted with chronic weakness, which significantly impairs her ability to perform physical tasks.
She often experiences coldness in her extremities and may require additional clothing or heating to maintain her body temperature.
Her legs are particularly weak, making walking without assistance challenging. To move, she depends on elbow crutches, which provide the necessary support.
To maintain her physical state, Sarah requires regular consumption of royal jelly produced by her protective bees.
Without the intake of royal jelly, her body undergoes deformations, elongation, and begins to consume her own muscles, resulting in extreme pain.
Anomalous Properties:
Sarah's anomaly is distinct from Theo's, whose abilities involve physical healing through touch. Her anomaly primarily affects mental damage and appears to have been either given or taken from Theo during a divine interaction.
The subject's aging process has been significantly slowed, estimated to be around half the rate of a normal human.
Sarah's primary anomaly revolves around bees and honey, and it includes different types of bees that produce various cognitive hazards or effects. Wherever she goes, bees are drawn to her, often attempting to create hives in her hair or on her clothes.
Friendly Bees [Apis, Honey bee] ( clover honey, sage honey, orange blossom honey, sourwood honey):
These bees are non-hostile and behave like regular working bees or accompany their queen.
Their honey has a positive effect on mental health, inducing a peaceful state in consumers.
Therapists have recommended the use of this honey, though the site director remains cautious.
Neutral Bees [Apis Mellifera] ( Manuka Honey, Dandelion Honey, Blueberry Honey, Macadamia Honey):
These bees are neutral but will become aggressive if provoked.
They produce honey with curative properties for the human body.
However, if stung by one of these bees ten times within a 24-hour period, the victim's internal organs turn into candied organs, leading to a peaceful death, akin to SCP-1176. The Honey bees then consume the corpse and offer it to their queen.
Protective Bees (Apis Mellifera Mellifera + Aster Honey/Ironbark Honey/Coffee Honey/Fireweed Honey):
These bees act as guards for the queen and become hostile if she is distressed or injured.
Their honey is exclusively for the queen, and they defend it vigorously against beekeepers.
They retain their stingers and possess venom that allows them to control their victims in under 40 minutes.
The risk of collecting this honey is justified by a 30% chance that the bees will produce immortal honey, distinguished by its taste and shimmering color.

World Honey Bee Day
These little creatures are nature's buzzworthy superstars! They're responsible for pollinating a third of our food supply and creating delicious honey.
We often take nature for granted. We don’t think about the pivotal role that all of life’s creatures play. However, World Honey Bee Day gives you the perfect opportunity to pay honor to the incredible honey bee. Read on to discover everything you need to know about this day, as well as the critical role that honey bees play in our everyday lives.
Learn about World Honey Bee Day
World Honey Bee Day is an awareness day whereby honey bee enthusiasts, beekeeping associations and clubs, and beekeepers celebrate the honey bee. It is a day to recognize the contribution that honey bees make to our everyday lives, as well as learning about the different steps that we can take in order to protect this vital species. On World Honey Bee Day, we also pay homage to beekeepers. After all, it is their efforts that make sure that there are healthy and well-managed bees to pollinate crops.
The health benefits of honey
Of course, honey bees provide us with honey, and this is one of the many reasons why we should be thankful for them! Honey is a golden, thick liquid, which is produced by bees using the nectar of plants that are flowering. The kind of flowers that bees visit will impact the texture, smell, and taste of the honey, resulting in different types of honey, including orange blossom, clover, acacia, and manuka honey.
There are a lot of nutritional benefits that are associated with adding a bit of honey to your diet. High-quality honey offers a number of benefits because of the antioxidants that are included. These include phenolic compounds, such as flavonoids, as well as organic acids. The antioxidants that are found in honey have been linked to lowering the risk of strokes, heart attacks, and some forms of cancer. They are also believed to assist in terms of eye health.
There have also been studies that have shown that honey can help to improve your cholesterol levels. If you have high LDL cholesterol levels, then you are going to be at a greater risk of having heart disease. This sort of cholesterol plays a massive role in atherosclerosis, which is the fatty buildup in your arteries that can cause strokes and heart attacks as well. There are more and more studies that are showing that honey can help to enhance your cholesterol levels. This is because it significantly raises the good HDL cholesterol while lowering the total of bad LDL cholesterol.
Honey cannot only benefit you in terms of consuming it, but it has been used for many years as a topical treatment for healing burns and wounds. In fact, this can be dated back to Ancient Egypt. Researchers have concluded that the healing powers of honey come from the anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects it has, as well as its ability to nourish the tissue that surrounds the wounded area.
Bees are disappearing
Bees are critical to our daily living, yet they are in decline on a worldwide scale. This is because they face a number of different threats. The use of toxic pesticides is one of these threats. They are also at risk due to habitat loss, as there has been an increase in invasive farming methods and urban developments, meaning that places that honey bees used to call home do not exist anymore. In honor of World Honey Bee Day, it is good to do your bit in order to raise awareness regarding the risks that honey bees all around the world face and the steps that we can take in order to help them. You can begin by researching this issue so that you can find more information about the different challenges that bees face and the reasons why their population is on the decline. By doing this, you will then be able to educate others and we can all do our bit to make sure that the number of bees starts to increase again, rather than decline.
History of World Honey Bee Day
World Honey Bee Day, previously known as Honey Bee Awareness Day, is an idea put together by beekeepers in the USA, who petitioned the USDA in 2009 for an official day to honor honey bees and beekeeping. A few years down the line, people across the globe are holding a date of observation every year.
The organizers of the event, on the concept of the World Honey Bee Day, have said:
Bring together beekeepers, bee associations, as well as other interested groups to connect with the communities to advance beekeeping. By working together and harnessing the efforts that so many already accomplish, and [by] using a united effort one day a year, the rewards and message is magnified many times over. We encourage bee associations, individuals, and other groups to get involved. The program is free and open to all.
How to celebrate World Honey Bee Day
Honey Bee awareness enthusiasts will likely put a bee in your bonnet and say this is not so much a day to celebrate honey bees, as it is to promote their involvement in sustainable farming.
On this day, bee lovers everywhere decorate their gardens with lavender, borage, and marjoram, the bee’s knees in pollinator lures. If you have the time and patience, bake some honey chippers and make your own honey fruit cobbler.
We also recommend that you take the time to learn more about the honey bee on this day and how we can all do our bit in order to provide them with a supportive environment. When we plant orchards, wildflowers, and other types of flowering plants, we are supporting pollinators, which includes honey bees. Honey bees depend on the nectar of different plants in order to survive. We also need to recognize that we depend on honey bees for our own survival. After all, if they did not pollinate, a lot of the nutritious plants that we need would not reproduce. It’s all about the circle of life, and we should do our bit to help other specious along the way.
Another way to celebrate World Honey Bee Day is by enjoying a honey-based treat. There are lots of different options for you to choose from. Whether you’re looking for a tasty dessert or you want to incorporate honey into your main meal, we have got you covered. Here are some tasty suggestions to consider: honey-roast confit of duck, honey cake, vanilla and honey madeleines, stir-fried pork with honey and ginger, salted honey fudge and chocolate tart, honey mustard grilled salmon, homemade crumpets with burnt honey butter, and crispy honey buffalo wings. Is your mouth watering yet?
And because you’ve been as busy as a bee all day, sit back and watch Hitchcock’s ‘The Bees’. You’ll count your blessings honey bees are nothing like South American killer bees!

A—Z comes back to Iklectik to present Quasar – Expect a night of live sets including immersive ambient sounds, from mystic, dark noise to electronic pulsar chaos. The event presents three acts that explore sensory/textural sounds, syncretism, displacement, cathartic tremors.
8.30 - 9pm Gisou Golshani (live)
9.15 - 9.45pm GAKKO (live)
10 - 10.30pm Manuka Honey (live)
Manuka Honey
Marissa Malik, best known by her stage name Manuka Honey, is a multi-disciplinary artist, DJ and producer at the forefront of Latinx-infused club music coming out of the UK. US-born and London-based, Manuka’s adoration of the Latinx diaspora’s sounds is exuded by her beautifully chaotic DJ sets that have pummeled the sound systems of clubs and festivals internationally.
GAKKO
Carolin Schnurrer is a London and Berlin-based artist, DJ (alias GAKKO), designer, and instrument builder, producing sensory experiences with a variety of media, from sound performance and installation art to moving images. In her artistic research, she creates electronic instruments that incorporate human skin into her music-making process: Providing a platform for the audience to actively shape and manipulate the sounds she produces in real time by engaging in tactile interactions with one another on a transformative odyssey through synthetic, sensual, and otherworldly sonic landscapes.
Delving into the depths of profound vulnerability and resilience, this approach allows her not only to investigate the potential of healing through the powers of human touch and sound, but also challenge traditional notions of music creation and club experiences – inviting listeners to embrace the symbiotic fusions between the organic and the synthetic, to forge a path towards a speculative and fictional future where these connections transcend the confines of borders, culture, language, and other categories of exclusion that we construct.
Operating under the name GAKKO, she has cultivated an unwavering passion for seamlessly blending genres spanning from 130 to 160 BPM, weaving together sets that pulsate with the raw energy of bass-heavy music, unexpected club edits, and thunderous drum breaks. Through radio shows on Foundation FM, Refuge Worldwide, and [sic]nal, she aims to showcase forward-thinking and marginalized electronic producers within the experimental and DIY realm. Carolin Schnurrer’s artistic journey is characterized by collaborative ventures with musicians, artists, writers, and dancers like KLEIN, AUDINT (Kode9, Eleni Ikon, Toby Heyes), Julie Cunningham, and Haroon Mirza; she has performed at events such as Tate Lates, Oram Awards at Kings Place, Hyperdub’s Night Ø at Corsica Studios, intonal in Malmö, the YARD theater, 925 in Colombo and the MIRA Festival in Barcelona.
Gisou Golshani
Gisou Golshani is a London-based Iranian artist. Their work depicts abstract narratives from seemingly disparate elements. Through multilayered editing and playful uses of sampling, they investigate the intimacy of the voice, the effects of sound on the body and their mother tongue Farsi’s complexities in translation. Looking into archival found material, Gisou creates multi-sensory, immersive installations and performances. Previous work has been shown at Disturbance (Ugly Duck), London, Studio/Chapple for Deptford X, London, Nottingham’s New Art Exchange, Mimosa House, London and internationally including their home country.

For breakfast her go-to is the whole wheat breakfast burrito from The Bread Box added with sliced avacado, extra spinach, and black olives. At home she'll settle for a bowl of rizogalo, a couple of lightly toasted & buttered onion bagels, or a big bowl of Earthly Harvest raisin crunch cereal.
The most notable feature of Sophia is her long, thick, curly, & glossy raven hair. She attributes the health of her hair to a homemade hair mask she makes (that she puts on her hair for an hour every month) made with tumeric, sweet potato, olive oil, manuka honey, mango pulp, and a few drops of the Glory's Crown healthy hair oil blend. Her other go-to product is the Hairology 2-in-1 eucalyptus & mint shampoo/conditioner.
A guilty pleasure for her the lamb gyros from Olympic Chef. She sometimes orders three or four at once!
She also loves the mandarin orange green salad (drizzled in poppy seed dressing) from The Bread Box.
Sophia' main source of income comes from being Headmistress at Polus Preparatory- a school for youngsters started by Coeus (Titan god of foresight, intellect, & knowledge). The school is in the state of Delphi, a nearly two hour ride on dragonback. She expects nothing short of excellence from her students and faculty. For other means of income she endorses/models for Threads of Wisdom (is a fan of the slingbacks and crossbody bags), Olive Visibly, & White Lily Gallery. She's also a contributing writer for O Dianooumenos.
Her favorite frozen treat is the red velvet cake ice cream waffle cone sundae from The Frozen Spoon.
Sophia's been dating her girlfriend Eikono (goddess of iconography & literature) for a few months and she really enjoys spending time with her. Their first date was an early evening stroll and picnic at Eaglepoint Park where she won Eikono over with her homemade macaroni salad. Whenever their schedules permit, they're always together. A moment of sheer bliss for Sophia is them laying in bed on a quiet lazy morning reading the paper & drinking tea.
Her official mentor was Mnemosyne (Titaness of memory & language).
In the pantheon Sophia's friends with Iaso (goddess of cures & remedies), Neicus (god of debate & appeal), his sister Dimósia (goddess of debate), Mesembria (Bria) (goddess of the afternoon); despite the breakup with Favian, Sophrosyne (goddess of moderation, temperance, & restraint), Hesychia (goddess of quiet, stillness, rest, & silence), Pistis (goddess of trust, reliability, & good faith), Nomos (god of laws), Amphictyonis (Amy) (goddess of diplomacy), and Aletheia (goddess of truth).
Sophia also admires all the accomplishments of Athena (goddess of wisdom).
She also respects her girlfriend's father Logos (god of stories).
As an induction gift, she recieved a pair of designer heels which had a lined paper print design (along with a pencil themed strap) from Kéfi (goddess of mirth).
Sophia prefers wearing cologne than perfume, her favorite being REIGN, the most recent one from Zeus.
Her favorite dessert is the portokalopita from Hollyhock's Bakery.
In her free time Sophia enjoys reading, writing, poker, chess, yoga, doing crossword puzzles, football (soccer), cricket, tennis, going to museums, going to the opera, and visiting art galleries.
Her favorite meal is white rice with butter chicken.
"A being is but the product of their thoughts. What one thinks, one becomes."

Skin, Rewilded: EVIL GOODS Whipped Tallow & Manuka Honey Balm in Its Purest Form
In an age of overengineered skincare, EVIL GOODS Whipped Beef Tallow and Manuka Honey Balm offers a bold return to the basics — and elevates them. This 4oz jar of whipped, nutrient-dense balm is not just a product; it’s a philosophy rooted in purity, performance, and primal care.
At its core lies grass-fed beef tallow, a deeply nourishing fat once revered in traditional skincare for its uncanny ability to mirror the skin’s natural lipid structure. Rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, it hydrates at a cellular level, encourages elasticity, and supports long-term skin resilience. It melts effortlessly into the skin, offering a silky, non-greasy finish that lingers with lasting moisture.
Paired with raw Manuka honey — prized for its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and regenerative properties — this balm becomes a powerful healing agent. Whether calming irritated skin, healing chapped lips, or restoring dry patches, Manuka honey brings a quiet strength to the formula.
What you won’t find in this balm is just as important: no fillers, no artificial fragrance, no preservatives. Just clean, organic, skin-loving ingredients, whipped into a velvety, multi-use balm that replaces half your skincare shelf.
EVIL GOODS invites you to rewild your skin — to care for it with intention, instinct, and ingredients that speak the language of your body. For those who seek truth in texture and beauty in simplicity, this balm is your elemental ally.
