National Mousse Day
National Mousse Day is celebrated on November 30 every year, and we can’t wait to whip up some lovey-dovey sweetness for our near and dear ones. If you’re fond of decadent desserts, you should definitely get the most out of this food holiday. Did you know that the word ‘mousse’ is derived from French? In Old French, it means ‘froth’ or ‘foam’. As the name suggests, this appetizer is made by beating egg whites and cream until they turn light and fluffy like foam. Although it is more popularly served as a dessert, mousse can also be prepared as a savory. Depending on the type of mousse, its consistency can vary from thick and creamy to light and airy. Originally prepared in France, mousse found its way into the United States only in the late 19th century. And aren’t we all glad that it did?
History of National Mousse Day
When someone says ‘mousse’, don’t you often imagine it as a chocolaty delight? We know — almost always! Surprisingly, mousse was first concocted as a savory dish in 18th century France. It was only in the latter half of the 19th century that fruit mousses became a thing. The French would add whipped cream into fruit, coffee, or liqueurs, or pour the cream on top in the shape of a pyramid. They called this ‘crème en mousse,’ which means ‘cream in a foam’. Present-day recipes of mousse have branched out from this bygone tradition. If you are not a fan of whipped cream, you may consider replacing it with some viciously whisked egg whites.
The most popular version of mousse today, chocolate mousse, wasn’t always so popular. In fact, it really got into the public eye in the U.S. in the 1930s. This was the time when chocolate pudding was being introduced into American food culture. You could say that the chocolate mousse drew its inspiration from pudding.
Mousses are ideally served cold, while sweet mousses are sometimes served frozen. The best thing about mousse is that it conveniently lends itself to both savory and sweet recipes. From a thick salmon mousse as a starter to smooth raspberry mousse or the classic chocolate mousse for dessert, there is practically no limit to the flavors that a mousse can embrace. Whereas it also works as a filling in pastries and parfaits, a savory mousse goes well with cheese and fruit platters, turning them into good-looking appetizers.
In many restaurants today, savory mousses are prepared using foie gras, shellfish, avocado, poultry, vegetables, cheese, and other ingredients. Commonly dished out as a light entrée or an appetizer, mousses are often stabilized by adding gelatin to them.
National Mousse Day timeline
1892 The Mousse is Documented
The first-ever documented record of chocolate mousse comes from a Food Exposition held at Madison Square Garden, N.Y.C.
1897 First Recipe Appears in Print
The Boston Daily Globe publishes one of the first recipes for chocolate mousse, in its  'Housekeeper’s Column.'
Late 19th century Fruit Desserts Make an Entry
The first sweet mousses make their entry into America, and they are fruit mousses topped with whipped cream.
1930s Mousse Introduced
Chocolate pudding — the predecessor of chocolate mousse — is introduced into American food culture.
National Mousse Day FAQs
Is there a separate holiday to celebrate chocolate mousse?
Yes! While National Mousse day celebrates all kinds of mousses, we have a day designated only for chocolate mousse. We celebrate it on April 3.
Is vegan mousse a thing?
Very much. With a lot of people turning vegan, restaurants are trying to incorporate vegan mousses into their menus. Some of the commonly known substitutes for whipped egg whites are avocados, cashew nut paste, and chickpea brine.
What are some of the best places to try mousse in New York?
While there are innumerable places in New York that serve mousse, the best ones include Veniero’s Pasticceria & Caffe in East Village, Ferrara Bakery on 195 Grand St., Carlo’s Bake Shop on 625 8th Ave, and Dulce Vida Latin Bistro on 1219 Lexington Ave.

5 Important Facts About Mousse
Thanks to electric mixers
What a fish!
Largest mousse in the world
Why foamy?
Hot or cold?
The invention of electric mixers led to the widespread popularity of mousse — it is assumed that the first mixer with an electric motor was invented by Rufus Eastman in 1885.
Fish mousse, paired with bread and butter, used to be a much sought-after meal in America — although it has lost its popularity in recent times, fish mousse is still served as a party dip, by esteemed mousse aficionados.
Aventura Mall in Miami set a  Guinness World Record for the largest chocolate mousse, by preparing a mousse weighing about 496 pounds.
Eggs and cream when beaten to perfection form air bubbles that give mousse its light and airy texture.
Mousse can be frozen to make ice cream, as well as served hot.
Why We Love National Mousse Day
A divine dish
Versatile
Meetups and hangouts
Isn’t it wonderful to have a day designated to appreciate the beauty of mousse? You can’t deny that a scoop of creamy mousse has the power to brighten an otherwise mundane day.  And we absolutely love that about mousse!
Whether you’re craving a dessert or a savory appetizer, mousse can always bend itself to suit your taste buds. Basically, it can make everyone happy.
Mousse Day gives us the opportunity to invite our friends over for a bake-over (like a sleepover) and hang out with them at our favorite dessert parlor. Isn’t that lovely?

MAKE A WISH Chris x waitress!Reader
not proof read, long ass, don’t try if you’re lactose intolerant, london slander, send me asks about this pairing
The lone boy entered the diner, the doorbell above the sticker-loaded door ringing upon his arrival. He’d seen the bright ‘open’ sign above it on his way down the street. It was a particularly cool evening and he could’ve used a milkshake.
Finding a seat in one of the empty booths, he pulled his hands out of the pockets of his cargo trousers, opened the menu and instantly found the Shakes section. Listed were the flavours, each one as appealing as the last to Chris, who had quite the sweet tooth.
S’mores, Cherry Vanilla, Strawberry Shortcake, Oreo Cheesecake and Banana Split.
He couldn’t help but lick his bottom lip, already salivating at the thought of the S’mores shake in the huge glass, topped with whipped cream and stacked with delicious treats. Chocolate and marshmallows, as well as graham crackers and maybe even a couple sprinkles. Gosh, he was hungry.
“You know staring at the menu isn’t going to do much for your hunger. Trust me, used to do it all the time. Never worked.” His eyes peered up to be met with a distinct pair of large, pretty eyes staring back down at his under raised eyebrows. “Really?” He laughed, placing the menu flat on the table and turning his full attention to her. She nodded, pulling her notepad out of the back pocket of the light wash jeans that she had on. Her torso was clothed in a red shirt with the word ‘LONDON’ in large, pink letters on the front and her neck upwards was adorned with jewellery.
“London. You ever been?” Chris asked, eyeing the lettering on her baby-tee with a curious gaze. The girl looked down at the word painted across her chest for a split second, as though she had forgotten it was on her shirt. “Oh, yes. London, Kentucky.” His head tilted slightly before he nodded. “Right, right.”
“So, what can I get for ya…” The end of her sentence hung in the air and at that point Chris realised he hadn’t really introduced himself. He quickly told her his name and picked up the menu to relocate what he wanted. “I’d like a S’mores milkshake.” The girl scribbled down the order with immense pace and her head lifted again, redirecting her sight to Chris. “Anything else?”
He shook his head, closing the menu and placing it back in the holder. “No. That’ll be it.” Despite her confusion, the waitress shrugged her shoulders and offered him once last glance before departing on the words, “Suit yourself.”
Ten minutes fled by, all of which Chris spent scrolling through his camera roll of that day, attempting to decide which of the pictures he would post on his instagram. His brothers had texted him, wondering where he’d gone off to. He read their message, unable to find the care to respond. They knew he was alive with a phone, that was enough.
She returned with the gigantic shake in hand, carrying it with a delicate ease that drew Chris’ eye. He licked his lips when the girl placed the sweet treat on the table in front of him. She leaned on the booth across from him, cleaning down her hand on the pink apron that clung to her waist. “I’m y/n by the way, you forgot to ask.”
A heat rose to the boy’s cheek faster than a cheetah pouncing on its prey. She giggled, shrugging. “Don’t worry about it, usually people don’t ask. Just thought it would come in handy if m’gonna keep talking your ears off.” Chris nodded, taking a sip of the drink through the thick, glass straw. He found sweet and savoury flavours pouring into the canvas between his lips like warm paints from the palettes of a marvellous artist. His blue eyes lit up, only getting delighted in contrast to the dark curls that fell over his forehead, caressing his brows that were almost as dark.
She grinned, already used to this kind of reaction. One glance around was all it took for her to take a seat across from him, taking a quick, self-approved break from her job to talk to the cute boy she’d met. “So Chris, anything special that brings you here?” He nodded, swallowing the thick shake in his mouth, savouring the flavour that dripped down his throat like a spiky fountain. “S’my birthday today.” Her eyes widened, wondering why he was all alone.
“You celebrated with anyone today?” She hoped he’d say yes, even give a nod. She’d have hated to spend her birthday alone, and Chris seemed like a fun guy to be around, surely he couldn’t have spent his special day without anyone. “Yeah, with my two brothers. We’re triplets.”
“That is so cool. Are you the youngest?” She leaned closer. As if she weren’t already intrigued by Chris, now she had an even better reason to be absolutely fascinated. He gave her a nod, licking the whipped cream off the top of the shake. “How did you know?” She chuckled, using her thumb to wipe the whipped cream off his nose.
[Person change]
In that very moment, time seemed to slow as you locked eyes. You could feel Chris’ breaths on your face, that was only inches from his. You peered down at his lips, pink and plush as they were, you knew kissing them was the last thing you could do freely. You knew nothing about him. Was he even single? He couldn’t be with a pretty face like that. Was he into girls? Was he into you? You cleared your throat, quickly shuffling back into your seat. “Usually kids order the S’mores shake.”
Chris took a deep breath, as though he’d felt the heat of the moment too and needed to come back down from whatever cloud the two of you were riding. “Are you callin’ me a kid?” You quickly shook your head, explaining that you only felt a bubbly, youthful energy around the boy. His cheeks were still blush-covered, as though he was a watercolour painting with a layer of pink tinting his face. “You know what, I should get back to work. Take your time with that milkshake, we’re open all night.”
Chris nodded, eyes panning down your figure as you made your way back towards the counter. He hated to see you go, but he loved to watch you leave. Mindlessly sipping away, Chris barely realised how much darker the sky had gotten outside. He just wanted to have a moment to himself. Being an adult was more complicated than he’d expected, even for someone like him who was lucky enough to have fans all over the world to support him and his brothers.
He thought about you. They way you were around his age and working a night job. He thought about how that could’ve been him, how that is the life of so many people his age. And he spent his night partying and having fun without a care in his mind. Without a doubt or lick of worry about how much it would cost him or how tired he’d be the next morning. And Chris was ever so grateful.
The boy was so lost in thought, he didn’t even realise the crackles in the distance, getting closer and closer. It was only the familiar giggle that snapped his from his thoughts and he turned around to find you tiptoeing in his direction, balancing a chocolate cake with candles and sparklers. Intricate assortments of sprinkles and icing swirls decorate the exterior of the homemade dessert. No way. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
You finally reached the table, placing down the large plate in front of him and the smile that adorned his face was brighter than ever. Brighter than all the candle and sparks taking place on top of the cake. “Happy birthday, Chris.”
He wanted to cry. That entire time, from the point at which you placed down the cake to the moment you sat across from him, telling him it blow out all of the candles, nothing touched him like the smile that played on your lips when you said “Make a wish!” And you made him promise not to tell anyone. You fed him little pieces, laughing as he tried to catch all of the dessert that toppled off the fork. And he didn’t think his special day could get better. But you made that possible. You made it real.
After a long night, Chris finally received the bill. He’d expected it to have a read a longer list, but it was simple.
RECEIPT
s’ᴍᴏʀᴇs ᴍɪʟᴋsʜᴀᴋᴇ… $7.29
Total cost…. $7.29
Chris thought there had to be some mistake. Surely the cake and the extra service would cost him a little more. Plus, he wanted to see her one more time. Her smile was like a composition of melodies and rhythms formulated throughout time. Passed from generation to generation, surviving century after another as though the joyous expression possessed the sought after power of immortality. As though each pearly tooth was are token of the past, a timeless treasure worth more than humanely possible to discover in the limited space which is the imagination. As though each smile line, each crease and curve was the product of every face, married together by Mother Nature in the creation of another life, another soul. And so despite her ever so distinguishable and so difficult to miss spite for it, he loved her smile as an astronomer loves his stars. He loved her smile as a philosopher loved his literature. He loved her smile as a he loved all of her.
And he was set on calling her over again until he turned over the little slip of paper to read a note.
‘ 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘮𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘉𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘉𝘰𝘺. (𝟾𝟻𝟽) *** **** ’

Gehanna
Satan
This man is an cookies and cream bastard. He crushes Oreos and puts them into his ice cream the more the merrier. He'll still eat his ice cream even though it's just a pile of cookies and little bits of ice cream. Genuinely gets mad that there's not enough cookies in his ice cream.
Sitri
I think he would like a more uncommon flavor like pistachio or matcha. He understands not many people like his flavor but it's his.
Juno/Ppyong
Chocolate ice cream with chocolate chip. Drizzled with chocolate... He just really likes chocolate.
Leraye
He likes those character popsicles with the eyeball gum. he always takes out the eyeballs first and then eats their heads.
Belial
He likes sherbert with gummy bears. I can see him really liking fruity flavors. Occasionally he does also have sprinkles.
Paimon
Bubble gum flavor is a masterpiece and if you disagree you're wrong.
Astaroth
Rocky road. He likes the richness of chocolate paired with the nuttiness of the almonds and the softness of marshmallows delicious!
Zagan
Chocolate chip! He's a simple man.
Tartaros
Mammon
Anything with caramel has his heart, it's sweet and delicious and he likes watching it roll down. So butterscotch caramel. Don't forget the gold shavings
Bimet
He'll have whatever Mammon is having having. extra gold shavings please... (a scoop of pineapple with coconut shavings)
Eligos
Strawberry with sprinkles! He is a strawberry die hard. Constantly getting into fights with chocolate and vanilla fans.
Valfor
Butter pecan with caramel as well. He'll also politely ask what ice cream flavor are you having and then politely asked for some of yours in exchange for some of his.
Hades
Leviathan
Neapolitan ice cream because it has three flavors and that's better than one. but then would rudely steal a spoonful of yours and wants to try everyone else's because he's jealous of what you're having because it looks good.
Foras
He also likes Neapolitan not because he wants to copy Levi He just genuinely likes the flavors.
Glasyalabolas
He can't decide between Cherry or raspberry. He just really likes strong fruity flavors. He doesn't mind a little chocolate drizzle either.
Barbatos
Of course he would like red velvet And he likes mixing bits of brownies.
Orias
Cotton candy with sprinkles. Anything sweet enough to give you diabetes
Abyssos
Beelzebub
His favorite changes every other day once you ask him It will take in about 10 minutes to think of an answer just to change it three times.
(funny headcanon one time visiting Leviathan He got into his ice cream stash to separate the three flavors and reorganize them as a prank. That's how he got banned from Hades for 100 years.)
Bael
Likes root beer float, He likes it because he can mix it in and then drink it while he's working.
Amon
My brain is telling me that he likes cookie dough. I don't know why I feel strongly about this.
Naberius
Peanut butter. He's such a sucker for peanut butter ice cream. He'll be eating it with his tail wagging happily.
Stolas
Strawberry cheesecake ice cream! And don't you dare tell him it's girly or be mean because he will cry!
Paradise Lost
Lucifer
Moose tracks is the most old man dad flavor I can think of.
Gamigin
He's more of a snow cone guy. But he likes Sorbet anything with citrus and he'll be there.
Marbas
He's a plain guy He just likes vanilla. If he feels like something different than he'll add to it it's perfect.
Beur
He likes vanilla but he's more of a French vanilla person. He thinks of himself as the better vanilla fan. He's kind of prideful about it.
Morax
Not much of an ice cream fan but he'll have whatever you're having
Niflheim
Belphegor
Mint chocolate chip. We don't know much about him it's just a vibe.
Gusion
Coffee flavor, no one saw this coming.
Bathin
He likes flavors from different countries like Ube, moonmist or hokey pokey. Any flavor that's specifically unique to that place he'll try it.
Andrealphus
Rainbow sherbert he likes tasting all the little flavors. He also likes the name because if he could see he wants to see all the pretty colors it has. Probably just as beautiful as he imagines it.
Abbadon
Dantalian
Man likes grape flavor He's just dying to get stabbed.
Phenix
Banana split. He eats the banana whole ;)
Ronove
Mango surprisingly normal...
Other
Minhyeok

Part of the Bad Professors AU
Note: Please leave some feedback and reblog <3 As always, I love to chat with you all.
Tumblr media
You arrange your carefully iced cupcakes on the platter and smile at them. You love cooking and baking and everything edible. A kitchen is a place where you know what you’re doing. Where you have a voice. You spent all night mixing, beating, and carefully decorating.
All that joy is muddled in the chaos. Behind the table, you are overwhelmed by the voices behind you. It’s good! It means that your fundraiser is a success and your hard work isn’t for not.
You turn and put down the fresh platter of cupcakes. You give a start as the man across from you says your name.
“Thought that was you, puddin’,” he drawls.
“Lee! You made it.”
“I won’t lie and say I didn’t let class out early to be here,” he chuckles.
“You didn’t have to do that. Oh, I can’t believe you remembered.” You only mentioned the bake sale in passing. Your efforts to fund the new classroom stand mixer aren’t all glamourous.
“Course I did,” he smiles, “even brought a friend--” he pauses and looks around, “now where’s that twerp gone?” He growls as he searches the rush in the Student Centre. “Mm, he’ll find his way back. Like a cat.” He shrugs and faces you again. “Now, what am I lookin’ at here, sugar?”
You smile and point to the first row, “strawberries and cream, this one’s oreo smore,” you go down the columns, “blueberry cheesecake bites, and my favourite, cinnamon roll muffins.”
“All look delicious,” he licks his lips but when you look up, his eyes are on you. “Can I get two of each, please and thank ya.”
“Oh, wow, uh, sure.”
“Gotta share,” he tuts and puts his hand on his lip as cranes to peer around again. “Darn it, where--”
“Bodecker,” another man struts up, a thin scarf hanging down over his rustic orange jacket. “There you are. “
“Told ya I was headin’ over to the sweets. Where’d you get lost?” Lee accuses.
You focus on putting the cupcakes gently in a box. The other man chuckles, amused. He hums and you glance up as he watches you. His eyes flick down to the table.
“Saffron, this is my friends--”
“Colleague,” the other man corrects with a tint of humour in his tone. “Ransom. Professor Drysdale, actually.”
“Ransom’s fine,” Lee insists, “she made ‘em herself.”
“Not all of them. Joseph did the brownies and squares,” you point behind you, “and Angela did the cake.”
“Do you have a permit?” Ransom asks.
You blink in confusion.
“Ignore him,” Lee elbows his side. “He’s teasin’ ya.”
He takes out his wallet and counts out the bills, “how much then.”
“Well it’s three dollars each and you have eight,” you slide the box over, “that’s twenty-four--”
“It’s a fundraiser, ain’t it?” He offers a fifty, “keep the change, will ya?”
“Oh, sir,” you stare at the bill. “That’s, erm, very generous.”
“Not at all. Goin’ to a good cause,” he winks.
You accept the bill and push it into your apron pocket to add to the lock box.
“You got cheesecake?” Ransom interjects. The other man looks irritated by his interruption.
“Sure, Angela made cherry, classic New York, salted caramel, oh and... erm, pumpkin swirl.”
“I’ll have cherry,” he says.
“That’s cherry, please,” Lee growls.
Ransom laughs again, “please.” He mimics the other's southern lilt. He gets a grumble in return.
“My friend ain’t got manners. Born with a silver spoon down his throat,” Lee shakes his head.
“I’ll get that cake,” you assure him and step away. You get another box and pack up a slice. You bring it back with a bamboo fork. “Here you go.”
It’s sweltering as both men focus on you. You hand over the box and Ransom holds out his payment. You take the hundred and gasp as you unfold it. “Keep the change,” he says.
“Sir, the cake’s only four dollars.”
“That’s fine,” he insists. “Good cause or whatever.”
Lee sends him a look, “well that’s mighty kind.”
“I’m a nice guy, Bodecker.” Ransom scoffs.
You just keep smiling as the edges of your vision crowd with people and the chatter itches your ears. You brace the table and take a deep breath. You blink and the fog clears. Focus. They’re both staring at you.
“Well, thank ya, puddin’, we’ll certainly enjoy these, won’t we?” He nudges the other man.
“Sure,” Ransom smirks. “Come on, I got a thing.”
“It’s your thing,” Lee grumbles and waves with three fingers, “we’ll see ya ‘round, then.”
“Bye, Lee,” you chime, “and, er, Professor Drysdale.”
The other man’s lips curve deeper before he turns away. He strides ahead of Lee who peeks back at you one last time. You keep your smile and turn to the next person in line.
“Can I have some of the lemon meringue square?” The girl points, “is that what it is?”
“Oh, sure, yeah, it’s lemon you answer.
“Erm, do you... do you have suggestions? The lemon’s for me but I... I wanted to get some for a friend. Um, maybe a brownie too?”
“Sure,” you nod as she shows her teeth sheepishly. You see yourself in her. And her teddy bear bag is especially cute. You box up her goods and put them down.
“I hope you don’t mind change,” she counts out from a change purse.
“Not at all,” you assure her. “I love that bag.”
“Really? I made it. The teddy bear used to be part of a blanket,” she shows off the fuzzy fur of the bear.
“Wow, that’s awesome,” you say as you take her change.
“You made all this? I always liked baking,” she says.
“Some of it. Only took all night,” you reply.
“So cool. My dorm’s too small to bake...”
“Aww, that’s... too bad,” you say. You hesitate as she takes the box. Before she can turn away, you stop her. “Hey, um, my name’s Saffron. If you ever wanna make something, I get access to the kitchen in the culinary building. Just a thought.”
“Really? That’s so cool,” she brightens up and the shaking in her hands stop. “Okay. Oh...” she frowns. “I’m Mauve. Nice to meet you.”
She holds out her free hand. You shake it, amused by the gesture. She’s sweet and you have another friend to add to the count. On your own age!

why does writing make u sad? are ppl being mean? pls don’t put any pressure into ur writing like its just a bit of fun. but like if its makes u sad then that can’t be helped. sending hugs x
was thinking of filtering my answer for a bit, but ahh screw it. personal blog anyways. if i say anything too raw or bitchy or kinda ..eh. i'll either delete in the morning, or just learn from it.
cw: rant. might delete later but ive been frustrated. (if my tone gets snipppy it's not you anon!! love you love you lots anon and im sending you the biggest warmest tightest hug on earth ;3;!!! you're so sweet <3)
Anyways anon i think that's why I want to stop. Exactly because it's supposed to feel fun. but it's not anymore.
I think I miss the times when my blog felt like i was just talking to a few friends online, bounce off each other's ideas, and then that. now that, that was fun.
but overtime, I guess with how other ppl saw how i bounced off everyone's ask with a full on yap session, they prolly think that i'd work always like that. Not to sound like im being specific about it, but I guess there are times where I can feel ppl just send in something short, and they sleep with the thought that the next day, I just barfed out a whole entire drabble for them ready to read. Like as i've said... some version of freaking chatgpt.
not even a damn please
just straight up
"this character doing this."
like okay that's it.
not that I don't appreciate anons sending in ideas and their thoughts, I really do. But there's a difference in the feeling you get when... let's say I've brought out some baked strawberry pie, and people have a slice and they like the pie and ask about it's filling, ingredients, if i have anymore strawberry or pie recipes planned.
versus someone just taking a slice, and instead of saying they like it or at the very least ask about it, the first thing they just go is
"when are you going to make oreo cheesecake."
or.. something like that? do i make sense??? ugh.
which okay the first few times, just ignore it right? who cares lol, it's your blog. do what you want. don't mind that. write for you, and the people who actually show they care.
but when you get spammed the next day with a few more asks like that, it does get a bit tiring when that's all your greeted with.
and i guess im confused about my feelings on it because my blog somehow feels overwhelming with ppl, but at the same time it feels like it lacks... ppl. which is so weird to say, but i do feel that way anyways. it's like the more people find out about it, the more empty it feels.
And idk, it's even worse when I've also said i kinda grew a distaste for strawberry pie now, and the very first thing, THE VERY FIRST THING i receive after i just post saying something like "hey i think im gonna take a little break from strawberry pie now.. it kinda makes me feel sick from the smell" is 6 more asks the very next day saying
"omg can you make more strawberry pie? i just found out about your strawberry pie. heres a list of more strawberry recipes."
like every single time.
and yeah. honestly i just choose to ignore these things. literally plug my ears and go on a break. vacation mode and all that. it's my blog, ill write when i want, ill make strawb pie when i want.
But i just can't help but long for when i actually felt like im talking to people and they're actually like talking to me. pie or no pie. the pie was just an extra. and i actually felt GOOD about giving my pie sometimes because people have made it clear that they loved it, and they really like it! and there's a connection because well... i like making pie now for you guys! i made it for my tastes, but its nice that it suits your tastes as well! :) ! yay!! i love the vibes going on, you guys are cool.
just gonna say it honestly: i miss feeling appreciated. i miss feeling like a friend, who just so happens to write/bake pie, and people get excited and say so when i tell them I have something I want to share.
because now all it feels like is the only way i can ever talk to people again is if i pick up those damn strawberry pie recipes and show up with a whole tray of it.
And as much as I want to think "oh you don't have to do that.", it's so undeniable how it's all they ever care about.
Like the only time people ever want to talk to me is when i make strawberry pie again. and which okay maybe that's an oopsie on my part because that's all my blog was about in the early days.
but the funny thing is, the FUNNIEST thing to me is: it's so damn rare to see people comment about my strawberry pie, despite the fact they've made it abundantly clear that's all they're here for.
"blah blah blah you shouldn't complain at least people are showing trying out your pie. there are some people out there who can barely get ppl to get into their stuff"
i am. im thankful, never forget that. I hold each and every person who atleast tried some of my stuff dear to my heart. I would go more insane if i just held all these thoughts on my own and got ignored. I love that I've gotten some really nice and lovely people to talk with!!! and i love that im even moots and even friends with them til now!
but i guess im so frustrated because: how many times do writers have to act nice and shy about "hey uh... if you guys liked my work maybe you can leave a little uh.. thing? a little note just saying you kinda like it? even an emoticon is fine :-) if not totally understandable haha."
I think my frustration is doubling over because it's not just me, i just don't like seeing anymore fellow writers or artists who work so hard, so so hard, and so lovingly into their craft, and have to act nice about asking for appreciation from time to time. measly crumbs of comments when they deserve so so much more than that.
because as much as we want to preach the "write for yourself" thing, there's still an undeniable sense of gratitude and loyalty authors/writers will always have with their audience. so sure, maybe we''ll throw a bone, you liked my stuff, i like your stuff, we bounce off each other, everyone's happy!
but holy shitttttttttttttttttt do people make u feel like sometimes that that's all you're good for.
which makes you get into this weird limbo wherein:
we are here for your strawberry pie and just your strawberry pie. will we grab a slice right in front of you, every time you make strawberry pie? yes.
will we ever talk to you and tell you that we like your pie, maybe even thank you sometime for the effort or even say how it tastes good?
fuck no.
in fact, how about we just ask you when the next batch will be. or how about we just ask you to make another one right here right now. we want one with a bit more whip cream.
Can we at least say please?
...no.
and its soooooooooooooo so funny too because when i stop making strawberry pies. im sure by now some people will just go:
"that's alright,.. at least we know what it tastes like. we'll just put your strawberry pie ingredients into some other writer, or some other machine and ask them/it to make the pie for us."
which makes me feel ??? i don't know?? because i stopped making those pies, but somehow. for some reason. they're everywhere. which i don't know if i should feel happy and grateful because "wow i guess ppl really like the pie...?" but then again, they make it very very VERY clear that:
we just like the pie. not you.
